It seems like a nice little family-run place, but it's hard to imagine our family ever going here again. Food was aggressively mediocre... the kids chicken tenders which were clearly out of a bag. We ordered one entree salad and one entree gyro/wrap, and felt like it was fairly bland grilled chicken served on a decent greek salad spread. But the price points were high, and it feels like the place looks exactly the same inside as it did in 1985. And you have the setting in a class B/C strip mall. Service was polite, no real negatives, but you can find a lot better and more interesting fare for less money in plenty of places nearby. read more

We went to Mylo's on Saturday night and will be back. It is not a huge place, but we rolled in with four adults and three kids and were quickly seated in at a large table that could handle all of us. It helped that it was a beautiful day out and the restaurant was slow for a Saturday night. Our service through the night was excellent. The waitress was very attentive and the owner, Chris, checked on us a couple of times to make sure we had everything that we needed. The food was excellent. The kids are normally picky eaters, but they enjoyed their meals. The oldest kid had eaten a late lunch and said he was not that hungry...that was hard to believe after he polished off the better half of a rack of ribs. My halibut off the specials list was some of the best fish I've ever had. No one left hungry and everything was excellent. The beer selection was great was four local beers on tap. I had a Devils Backbone, and a local IPA that were both very nice brews. The wife had some sort of pineapple mixed drink she said was really good. This place is great...the only complaint is that it isn't closer to our house. read more

Lamb kabob was good, just enough good spiced . There is a senior community across from this place so I think a lot of folks who come here are sorta a regular customer for this place. Folks, listen, I'm a regular, and I've read some critical reviews, so I have to stand up for my neighborhood restaurant and bar. Mylo's may not be making culinary history, but the food is very good (try the Greek salad with salmon done rare), the drink prices are entirely reasonable (don't drink my Myers's rum), and they have the most friendly and personable staff you're ever going to find. To call it overpriced in Mclean Virginia, the flagship of overpriced restaurants, is laughable. Where can you find a place in Mclean with outdoor dining, half price wine on Tuesdays, TV's in the bar to watch a game, huge party room for private events, and most importantly, a neighborhood joint feel? Only one place that I know of. The bartenders and wait staff are top notch (shout out to Kris, Elisa, Matteo, Jenna, Sarah, David, and Rosa) and it's not unusual for the owners (father and son, by the way), to sit down with you at the bar or invite you over to their table. It is hands down the friendliest, most laid back, and coolest spot in Mclean, and the bar patrons are educated, interesting and not at all obnoxious (for the most part, if I do say so myself). Don't listen to the people that expect the world for an $18 entrée and come to Mylo's grill.....and tell them Charlie sent you.....really. read more

I drive by this place every day and have never stopped. My daughter was at Starbucks so we decided to give this place a try instead of hitting the Chinese place around the corner. I wasn't too impressed when I initially walked in. I suppose I was expecting something a little more modern and the folks in the bar were being a bit loud. But I was satisfied with the ambiance once they seated us further into the restaurant away from the bar. I was pleasantly surprised to not be able to hear the noise from the bar. The booth we sat in was comfortable and clean. The temperature and lighting was good. There is a semi-private party-type room in the rear for larger groups. Waitress was very pleasant and quickly took our drink orders. For food, we ended up ordering a burger and crab cake sandwich. I was a little worried ordering a non-Greek item from the menu but it turned out well for us. I'm not sure this place can be classified a greek restaurant since the menu is comprised of many non-greek items. To the food ... the burger was 1/2 lb and very large. Came with fries that were average but the meat was soft, tasty and cooked correctly. I asked for pink and I got it. The vegetables and bread appeared fresh. Condiments were brought out quickly even when we asked for some mayo. My wife enjoyed her crab cake sandwich as much as I enjoyed my burger. Refills on drinks were prompt. So the food was good and the service was equally outstanding. The prices are on par for table service in northern VA. I would recommend the place and look forward to returning. read more

Unassuming neighborhood restaurant that does a great job making you feel at home. Greek food is the main specialty but you can't go wrong with the non-Greek choices either. Our 2-year old usually contents herself with dolmades and avgolemono soup while we split the (surprisingly large) entrees. Hot wings definitely deliver if you're in a mood for heat. If you like lamb, try the kebabs. Very family friendly in the dining room, but the bar has a good vibe too if you just want to put down some beers and watch a game. read more

The other customers here are definitely more friendly then the staff. The food is way overpriced and it's nothing out of the ordinary in flavour. It earns its 3 stars because of the 3 dollar beers 4-7pm on Monday-Friday. If it wasn't for the beer then I'd would never go back. My family loves Mylo's - for the food. Most of what we've eaten there has been great, and the wait staff are always incredibly friendly. The last few times we've been there though, our dinner has been interrupted by, (who I assume is the owner or manager), who we can hear from our booth, yelling at the kitchen staff. He stands outside the window to the kitchen, cussing and yelling that they aren't working fast enough or aren't doing things correctly. It's upsetting to hear someone talk to their employees that way, and to not care that the patrons of your restaurant are hearing you berate your employees like that.. Mylo's food might be good, but no food is worth an hour and a half of that. The restaurant industry is busy, hard, and fast-paced, but no boss has the right to speak to anyone like that. There's wanting to get the job done right for the guests coming into your restaurant, but that's just not the way to do it. read more

One of our absolute favorite places to go! We used to go to the DC Boat House but started going to Mylo's as soon as we heard that the people who had run the Boathouse had opened their own place. Chris and his Dad care so much about doing things right and it shows! The service is fantastic and friendly. One of the bartenders, Tim, came over from The Boathouse and there is a new female bartender is just as nice and efficient as can be. The food is just amazing! There are many things on the menu that I love and there are always great specials. The only thing that I would change? I'd like it to be closer to my house so I could go more often! read more

I went here for the first time a few nights ago. We were greeted pleasantly and seated promptly. The noise level was pleasing (not incredibly loud, as so many restaurants today are), and a quiet conversation was definitely on the menu. The lighting was good: neither obnoxiously bright nor horribly dim. The service was excellent and prompt, and the food was absolutely delicious. Portion size was certainly large enough without being huge. All in all, I would definitely eat here again. It was just an absolutely lovely dining experience. read more

We visited Mylo's this evening because we wanted to try something new and close by, and it had awesome reviews. By the one star I am leaving, I was clearly disappointed. *This review is only on service, because after an hour of waiting we did not even receive our hummus* When my partner, son and I got to Mylo's we were promptly seated and waited about 5-7 minutes before the server took our drink order (this was at 6:30) when we ordered our drinks we also ordered hummus (what we assumed would come out fastest because our toddler was very hungry and cranky) A few minutes later we got our drinks and put in our very simple order (two sandwiches, and a kids grilled cheese) We waited a while and another family was seated near us, their orders were taken etc (thats was about 20 min after we got there, a few min after we ordered our entrees) With a cranky toddler I was quite frustrated, but because of the good reviews and fact that it was A LITTLE busy we just waited patiently. NO ONE ever stopped at our table to check on us, hell I didn't even see the waitress except for when she took the other peoples order. Finally here comes the waitress delivering the other tables food. The table that was seated 20 minutes after us. the table that'd a VERY similar order to ours. And the waitress didn't even stop by our table to check in or apologize for the wait she just disappeared again. At this point it had been and hour. I couldn't wait any longer with my now very hungry family so I tracked down the only employee I could find, the bar tender. to get change to leave money for our drinks. She was alone behind a full bar so I didn't want to bother her to ask for a manager, because we really couldn't have waited around much longer anyways. So I left cash on the table and when we got out to the car it was 7:27, yup, we were there an HOUR. As a former server I think I am very understanding when mistakes happen, but this was just awful. read more

We came in as a group of 55, mostly teenagers. The menu was prefixe, and delicious, this was the first place where we weren't given options, and this only stuck out to me because I am newly vegetarian (pescatarian to be specific) and chicken kabobs were the dinner. Vegetarian or not, I would have been more excited about the grilled veggies (nothing better than those), but the chicken looked amazing. I asked about a vegetarian option and they were nice about explaining that hit here wasn't one, but they could give me hummus and pita at an additional charge. Considering dinner was free, I didn't mind. When it came time to pay, they'd comped the hummus for us. Whatever they would have charged us would have been absolutely worth it! The hummus was creamy and delicious, and garlicky (almost perfect, could have used more but I'm a freak). The pita was incredible. Soft and delicious, the kalamata olives in addition to the hummus and the pita was a vegetarian's dream. I'd love to come back and have it again! Here's what I was able to eat of the the dinner the provided: the veggies, the rice, the side veggies, and the tomato and cheese. We also got a Greek salad to start. The salad was amazing. Again, kalamata olives were much appreciated. The feta was delicious, the onions and tomato were fresh and tasty. The dressing was light and very good. For the dinner, all of the veggies were good. I liked the lemon on the broccoli, yum! The tomato with cheese was delicious. I think it was baked with cheese on top, very good. The servers handled out group perfectly. I noticed this place one evening after dining at the adjacent China Kingdom. I was enticed because of my affection for Greek food. I called up a friend and with a little arm twisting, we went to dinner. The restaurant is located in the Chesterbrook Shopping Center. As you enter, there is the traditional bar on the right with adjacent tables. The dining area is separate from the bar and adds a nice degree of formality to the establishment. We began our meal with drinks, ice tea for me and wine for my companion. She was somewhat indecisive on what to order. The waitress was very kind and understanding each of the three times she came over to ask for our drink order. The menu consisted of a variety of Greek and American fare. The American fare seemed to be more on the side of bar food but that was ok with me. We started the meal with an appetizer of dolmades. These came out shortly after the drinks and were served heated. They consisted of meat and rice, garlic, oregano, maybe some dill and other spices. Difficult to cut but very tasty to eat. Try adding some lemon juice to them. I ordered the tenderloin kabob. It was plated on a bed of rice. There were some vegetables but nothing to memorable. It also came with a halved tomato covered in melted cheese. I thought it was going to be good but it was not. The tenderloin though was the complete opposite. Whatever blend of spices they incorporate are phenomenal. The rice was decent too. My friend ordered the signature grilled chicken pasta. What a portion! The plate was huge. I didn't get the chance to try this but it must have been good as my made a point to get a box. I was pretty impressed with the quality of food and the competitive price. The only real drawback was the limited Greek fare on the menu. I will be back to try it again. read more

I've been to this convenient neighborhood place at least ten times, and it has enough virtues that I will go back--but the food is not one of those virtues. What you get here is barely passable diner food. Consider the french fries, a diner staple. They are consistently tough, dried out, and tasteless. I suspect the owners are skimping on materials, and somebody's not very good with a fryer. Or the chicken souvlaki, which is the epitome of bland. It's better even at the more downscale McLean Family Restaurant down the street. I've never had anything to eat here that was better than passable. On the upside, the bar area is pleasant and the restaurant area is fine. The beer selection is good and the wines are okay. Service is a mixed bag but some of the people are good. It's convenient. It wouldn't take much effort to achieve a significant improvement in the food. I sure wish the owners would give it a try. read more

was in vienna for a weekend attending an event in DC. after we got back to the metro at ~6 after not eating since 11, my friend & i were starving. being that we are from NY, we had no idea what was in the area. we looked up some places on yelp & always being a fan of greek, i made the choice to go here. we got dolmades & both ordered chicken souvlaki as take out. it was ready pretty quickly (looked surprisingly empty for dinner time on a saturday night) and it made the car smell amazing on the 10min ride back to the hotel. when we got the food back, it was really good. my only complaint would be that i would have liked more tsaziki sauce. however the feta on mine kind of made up for that fact. if i ever happen to be in the area again for something, it is very likely that i will be stopping in here again. read more

One star based on my family's experience. I can't really speak to the food because an hour after we ordered we had not received our appetizer, and had to leave to find something for a very tired and hungry child to eat. It was particularly frustrating because a family that came in 20 minutes after us was eating their entrees. So, it's not to say you won't get served, you just need to have the right luck or whatever. With regard to going to management to complain (I saw that in some comment responses) if you have a tired & hungry kids that's not an option - you don't have time to give a place feedback and second chances, and wait an extra 30 minutes... you need to take care of your family. read more

We started with some Greek meatballs (not sure the actual name) served with taziki, pita, cucumbers, black olives, and tomatoes. Excellent! Dinner was chicken souvlaki salad and chicken kabob. Both very good with generous portions we could not finish. I am sure we will enjoy the left overs tomorrow. We will certainly be back. read more

Have eaten here many times and always enjoyed it. Stopped by late afternoon Sunday for a village salad, mine topped with chicken, my wife's topped with shrimp. When the salads arrived we noticed that the salad consisted almost all of cucumbers with no tomatoes, very little feta and minimum onion and olives. We've eaten this salad dozens of times here and this bore no relation. Pointing out the total lack of tomatoes, our waiter went back to the kitchen and said that the cook told him that the tomatoes could be hidden in between the cucumbers. What an insulting, stupid statement-we know what tomatoes look like and there were none. We were crunched for time and just ate the salad as is assuming an adjustment would be made on our bill. When the bill came, there was no adjustment and we told the waiter that we thought some adjustment should be made. He went back to the kitchen and after 10 long minutes presented the bill that ONE DOLLAR had been taken off the total - that would be a 50 cent deduction on each $20+ salad. Again, totally insulting and we will not be back and will be sure to tell the many friends that we used to meet there to take it off the list. read more

Had pretty high expectations here after a 4.5 average on yelp, but weren't quite met. Most reviewers mention a very attentive owner. We didn't have such luck; our server seemed to want to avoid talking. Barely said a word, had to be stopped for us to get attention, wouldn't provide recommendations, and when he did talk he would literally use less than 4 words. Not terribly welcoming. Also odd is that they don't have gyros on the menu here. Not that that should be a total roadblock, but when you get a hankering for Greek/mediterranean, you tend to get a hankering for gyros. That said the decor is really nice, they have some unique dishes on the menu, and the souvlaki was very good. Prices are a bit high. read more

I don't know why people didn't love this place... I loved my houllami and eggs when we went for brunch this morning. It took about 15 mins for food to come out but the cheese and the home fries were yummy! My brother got the same thing that I did and his girlfriend got Chesapeake Benedict, like eggs Benedict but with a crab cake added to it. My hubby got a Greek omelette. Food was yummy! We had a family reunion dinner in Mylo's private room in the back. The room is perfect for our group of 21. The food was terrific and they were able to accommodate everyone from the menu which is unusual for a group this size. Chris welcomed all of us as we came in , and Elisa is the best server and so friendly to one and all!!! This restaurant is right next to the Safeway which we go very often so we always wanted to try it . And we finally did tonight. And I have to tell you their service was excellent. Our server was Lisa ( if I am spelling right) and she was nice and warm and friendly. We ordered two pastas ( signature chicken and pasta paramavera) and both were really good. We also had side house salads and the dressing was phenomenal!!! Best ever. The spicy wings were good too for it not to be a wing place. The prices might look a bit high but the portions are big. I would like to go back and try their burger because Joe's burger in downtown mclean is horrible ( I have rated them) and it would be great to find a burger place close to home. read more

We had our family Christmas party at Mylo's Grill and a good time was had by all. Most members of our family are Greek and no one was disappointed. The food is delicious, the service efficient and friendly and every effort was made to ensure a successful party. The beef and chicken souvlaki are the best I have ever had and as a Greek cook myself, I can say that Mylo's pastistio is equal to the best homemade. We look forward to many wonderful meals at this quiet and pleasant neighborhood restaurant. We attended a dinner party recently catered by Mylo's and it could not have been more perfect. The people are great! Service and everything was awesome! The food was really well done. I had gone to Greece over the summer and my chicken souvlaki was very comparable to the ones I had in Greece. I really enjoyed it. Prices are pretty good too, depending if you get a sandwich or burger or an entree ($10-19), but not bad. Pretty good layout, and TV screens with sports games on...Will probably come back for happy hour (4-7) sometime! chicken kabob pretty darn good I decided to stick with the fries then add $3 for the Greek salad which I think is super ridiculous.
