Yum! This is an ice cream shop inside the Lakeshore Cafe. The owner seems super nice & genuine guy! The soft serve creations are fantastic! I had the gingerbread & my husband had the eggnog. Both were so good! I'm going back soon for the German chocolate cake ice cream creation. So glad to know this is here! Right by the Oakland Diocese office, convenient location folks! Let me start by saying I love the idea of dessert but not usually the dessert itself. I'm a big fan of ordering dessert, and having two bites and being done. Today, I met my match and that was not the case. I loved the vanilla soft serve SO much. I could eat it plain without any toppings. The vanilla was thick snd creamy, not icy at all. The banana was a nice compliment to the not overly sweet flavor and the nuts provided the perfect crunch. The cookies and cream was also very good. I wish the chocolate were a bit thicker and less icy but overall still yummy. I love how little the cookie crumbs were crushed. Sometimes you get big chunks of cookie that are terrible to chew with ice cream because it freezes your teeth and takes away from the experience. I want to go back inside and get some more to go, but I don't trust that I won't eat it all in one sitting. This place is total chefs kiss. Perfect location across the lake too.... Get your ice cream and sit on a bench or go on a walk. I hope they grow in the most abundant way. Give it a try! read more

I was in the area looking for a good dessert spot and found MyGoodness. This location is right near Lake Merritt and it's off street parking. The menu is limited - wanted to try the Apple Pie but was not available today so chose the Strawberry Cheesecake and it did not disappoint. MyGoodness is literally MyGoodness! A simple dessert soft served ice cream topped with flavors. I'm looking forward to trying different flavors next time. Strawberry cheesecake has cheesecake bites all on top with strawberries preserves and there were even graham cracker pieces at the bottom - super good! I came here for a party before and loved my experience so much I had to return. Such a convenient location. The service is excellent, the owner is very friendly and helpful. I chose the German Chocolate Cake this time and it was good, literally all the components of the cake but in ice cream form. Sadly, it was just too sweet for me. I didn't think about that when I ordered. My son ordered the Cookies and Cream and love every bite. He enjoyed the ice cream with the crunchy cookie toppings and texture. I just walked here with my housemate, cause she was craving froyo. I was very impressed by their options. They all look exquisite and high quality. My friend got the baklava with chocolate. The portion was huge for a single. She gave me a bite and it was so decadent. I wasn't going to get anything but the lovely woman working offered to give me a sample. She gave me the cutest mini cone! So generous. I will absolutely be back soon. read more

I was deceived by Yelp's aggregate 4.9 rating. There used to be a dessert place in SF where they would serve you a soft serve in a cup. My favorite one was the simple dark chocolate drizzle that would immediately harden with some sea salt on top. I was craving it, so I thought this place might be worth a try. I got just the cream with a chocolate drizzle over. The chocolate did not harden at all. It remained soft the entire time. The soft serve also started immediately melting within a minute of walking away from the place. It's only 66F. I would understand it melting quickly if it was 85F or something, but it took less than a minute to begin liquifying. My car was parked 3 minutes away, and by the time I got back to it, it was just sugary soup. The consistency isn't even the most disappointing aspect. The chocolate drizzle was too sweet. It tasted like the cheap syrup you can get from a dollar store where they just dump a whole can of sugar in order to get away with using the lowest amount of chocolate as possible. As for the soft serve itself, the first bite was mildly sweet. It wasn't overwhelming in flavor, but the more I ate it, the more it started tasting like a mildly appetizing version of spoiled milk. It left a really sour aftertaste in my mouth. I tried mixing it to turn it into chocolate soft serve, but the flavor of the chocolate syrup is so overwhelming that it just tastes like something Donkey would excrete if he were in Candyland instead of Shrek's swamp. It was $6.60 or so after tax. I think it's going to cost me $200 in medical bills from the emotional damage I've taken. read more

Yummy soft serve. Located in Lakeview cafe close to the drumming circle/rotunda on lake Merritt. Pop up. Go grab one on a hot day and it will hit the spot. The vanilla one is made from Buffalo milk which is easy on the stomach for lactose intolerant folks. read more

Nothing hits the spot like the Peach Cobbler. Great balance of flavors and a perfect cream to topping ratio. Service was friendly and fast, per usual. I was surprised by how empty the shop was despite it being a warm day. But plenty of seating in and outdoors. read more

Very shareable portions. Could not finish one on my own. We liked the baklava toppings they did add the crunch without being too overwhelming. The ice cream itself was not too sweet and had a good milky flavour. I believe 17th is their last day at the current pop up location before they move. Service was fast and friendly. read more

After seeing their IG post about a limited-time birthday cake flavor, I couldn't resist dropping in. I made it through the torrential downpour and was rewarded with ice cream that made me smile! MyGoodness serves up DECADENT soft-serve ice cream and the birthday cake flavor was no exception. Packed with homemade cake, sprinkles, fruity pebbles, and even icing, the combination was out of this world. It's certainly big enough to share with a friend, but I proudly crushed it solo. Heard about this place online and just had to try, the pictures looked too epic. We were not disappointed at all! The owner and founder was there and was quite friendly and mentioned that this would be the best soft serve we've ever had. That raised the expectations quite a bit and even then it did not disappoint! You can tell the quality of the soft serve is not the cheap/low quality soft serve you may get other places. The cones are stacked high, so be prepared! My favorite was the Cookies and Cream. So glad we found this spot and will be back often! read more

My first time I came alone, got myself the apple pie and I don't like apple pie like that but to my surprise it was amazing! I loved it! So I brought my sister the next day we got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch and cookie & cream, the cookies and cream it was okay nothing special maybe cause I switch the chocolate soft serve to vanilla but the Cinnamon Toast Crunch was the best! I came here so many times after that just to get the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I recommended that flavor to everyone I know. Even took my bf here and he loved it too. Recently I came back and they got new flavors. I tried the strawberry cheese cake and omg that is amazing! It not overly sweet like other cheese cake ice cream and the strawberry I think its a homemade strawberry jam. It's sooooo good! The service was great too! The owner is very nice and make the ice cream fast too. Location next to lake Merritt so you can go on a walk. A very chill small shop. Parking is kinda hard only 3-4 in the front. Decadence served with a smile!! This little pop up is scoopin up big flavors and toppings, and even has a pup cup for your pooch! I found this specialty on TikTok and was pleasantly surprised to learn it was being made nearby in Oakland, across from Lake Merrit. Upon first bite I knew I'd be back for more!! MyGoodness? I'd even go so far as to say MyGreatness. This little pop-up is the best thing to happen to Lake Merritt since that time when I saw a bird on the water that looked exactly like Bernie Sanders. Sure, you can go to a frozen yogurt place where you can pick your own toppings, but you know the gummy bears are going to be stale and hard and, if they're not, it's only because some toddler was warming them up with their sticky-fisted death grip before putting them back in the gummy bear container only to inevitably land on top of your chalky froyo and mess of Fruity Pebbles and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, all while you ponder the poor life decisions that lead you to that terrible combination. Instead, go to MyGoodness and get some super creamy soft serve in a perfectly curated combination of quality ingredients and culinary mastery and then walk around the lake and enjoy your delicious ice cream while keeping an eye out for Birdie Sanders. read more

I saw MyGoodness while riding the bus on Lakeshore and decided to get off early and try it. It was a pleasant experience! As you can see from the picture, they were very generous and I got a lot of ice cream! The soft serve is delicious and better than regular soft serve, more milky. Unfortunately have to say this place really didn't live up to the hype. We got the cookies and cream and peach cobbler flavors and both didn't have a great flavor. The peaches tasted like the ones you get in a can from the store and the Oreos in the cookies and cream were definitely stale. The ice cream itself also wasn't tasty. Giving three stars because the service was great. I'm hoping it was an off day and that generally the flavors are pleasant. I absolutely love soft serve and have low standards so was surprised to be disappointed after reading the stellar reviews. read more

I think this place scratches the itch of getting soft serve, but with so much diversity and artisan food in the area I was left wishing they made their own soft serve flavors and toppings from scratch. This is definitely just the store bought basic stuff you had as a kid. Which is cool but for $8-9 dollars I think I'd rather go to Humphry and have more variety of flavors. read more

When you first walk in, you are greeted by friendly waiters and multiple ice cream flavors. If you want to go extra, choose a flavor. The food itself is creamy, very thick, and makes me feel a wave of comfort with every bite. I would recommend this to everybody, I mean like if I was lactose intolerant, like my dad, I would still go here. It's really worth it! In conclusion, the food here is priceless. In other words... I stumbled upon this place when I went to an event. There was lots of good and healthy food to eat, so I was going to pass on dessert. BUT, after hearing the descriptions, and then seeing the look of pure bliss on the faces of the crowd -- I was hooked! The Cookies and Cream and the German Chocolate were both excellent, and others were raving about the other flavors. Beyond the decadent deliciousness of it all, I love the community-centric spirit and friendliness of the owner. This is an excellent addition to our Lake Merritt community! PS: I hear the Pecan Pie is only available until Thanksgiving, so if that's your favorite -- get over to My Goodness before it's gone. 10/10 would totally recommend. read more

I'm a HUGE soft serve fan, and this place is a great addition to the neighborhood! The German Chocolate Cake is decadent and delicious - chocolate Straus soft serve topped with brownie, german chocolate frosting, nuts and chocolate sauce :) All the flavors look delicious, and the portion sizes are quite generous for the price point! I didn't get any photos because I ate it too quickly :) read more

Poor, old, formerly great Fenton's. I grew up in Piedmont, I've been going there all of my life…read more Nowadays, I avoid going in, because the service was so rude so many times, I gave up. But, my boss orders us food from Fenton's via Doordash to be delivered to our Oakland office from time to time. Last several times in a row, it's been pretty dang bad, (the potato chips always taste fishy!) but today (8/5/26) it was literally garbage. We had 2 egg salad sandwiches and a jalapeno burger, plus two milkshakes. The egg salad sandwiches had to be straight up tossed out. Just not edible. The egg salad was sooo watery, it was like a soup. Just dripping and running down out of the bread. Also, a HEAVY mustard taste, overpowering everything else. The burger had a piece of something (literally) translucent on it, apparently their idea of a slice of cheese? And the accompanying fries were COLD. The toasted almond milkshake was so runny it was like a flavored water. Not at all a creamy consistency, I don't even think they made it with milk, it seemed to be just a tiny bit of ice cream, some water and a lot of ice cubes (still visible in the shake). Just nasty. The other milkshake seemed ok. Of course, with the order being from DoorDash, it's near-impossible to get any real support, so it's just basically a total loss. I don't know if Fenton's just doesn't GAF, since they're always busy anyways, OR if they need to pay their employees more in order to attract the sort of person who's capable of being trained to care to do things correctly, but it's just really a bummer that such a neat, fun, old legacy business is allowing itself to disappoint customers and turn into a big mess like this. Sad.

HOWEVER, I really wish they wouldn't let people bring their dogs into the store. I found a dog hair in my ice cream from one of the two dogs that went in right before I entered. I also watched a woman let her dog pee ALL OVER the floor near the entrance... and that was what I saw in just a few minutes of being there. It was disgusting!! When I left there was a puddle of dog pee inside. The owner clearly knew her dog did it but she pretended she didn't notice and left it there. I get that everyone wants to be *dog friendly* now but come ON! I didn't complain about the dog fur in my ice cream because it wasn't the fault of the employees, but my god... I beg the owner of Curbside Creamery to reconsider allowing people to bring their dogs inside. The employee who helped me was very nice, though! 5 stars for Curbside Creamery, but please oh please I don't want to find dog hair in my ice cream again!

I could spend an eternity studying each flavor, but there's limited space to queue indoors so really gotta decide on a flavor and serving style fast in order to keep the line moving. Among the flavors were some classics, fruity/floral mixes, and dessert-inspired ones too, a whole range so there's something for everyone. I got the Breakfast Brownie and it was unforgettable! It tasted creamy and delightful without being overwhelming, while the cornflakes mixed inside added a satisfying crunch to each bite. I came back a second time before a show at Crybaby, a smaller venue across the street. Grabbing a scoop here to-go has naturally become part of my pre-concert routine at this point and I plan to come back again next time to explore more flavors. If you're ever heading to a show nearby, I'd definitely recommend stopping by beforehand for a lil energy boost and treat.

It is definitely more of a takeout ice cream spot with not a ton of seating so you either gotta get lucky with seating, wait for a spot, or take it to go. We got the pandan strawberry and the milk & cookies + cream. Next time I stop by I really want to try out their sundae!

The dining area had maybe 10 or more tables, and the tables were very much occupied by families and group of friends. There was a TV overhead, so hanging out is encouraged. We tried the classic milk tea with boba, and a citrus fruit refresher. We enjoyed our drinks. The fruit refresher was made with real fruits and tasted fresh. You can customized the sugar level, and we probably should have asked for more than 30%, as 30% was not sweet enough. We like to try the food menu next time.

She was super friendly and doing her best, but it felt like a lot for one person during a rush and the shop could definitely use more help. The space is really small and tight so it was hard to even see the flavors until we got close to the front. When we finally got up there, a lot of the tubs were already empty which was confusing since most ice cream shops restock. Some flavors I wanted weren't available anymore, and if they're out it would make more sense to just remove them from display. The dirty containers didn't make sense to display. I sampled the jasmine green tea and knew right away I wanted it. It was creamy with a smooth tea flavor that wasn't overpowering. I got a small with half jasmine green tea and half avocado. The avocado was surprisingly really good, super creamy and tasted like a fresh avocado smoothie. Both flavors weren't overly sweet which I liked. My husband wanted cookies and cream but it was sold out so he got chocolate chip instead, which was solid and creamy with good texture. Overall the ice cream itself was good, not the best I've had but definitely not bad. I like that the flavors lean more natural and not overly sweet. I could see myself coming back if I'm in the area, but the experience would be a lot better with faster service and more consistency with what's actually available.

By the time we had actually received our food, almost an hour had passed. While we were waiting, a few other servers eventually joined, but service was still pretty bare for us and we never received refills on water or plates to eat off of when we received our food. I understand that staffing and a backup in the kitchen are out of the staff's control, but it would've definitely helped for us to know in advance how long to expect to wait to align our expectations and arrange our plans for the day. Would advise giving customers a quick heads up/warning because that on its own would've made a big difference. As for the actual food, we ordered the mac trio with elote mac, chicken pot pie mac, and kogi short rib mac (for an extra fee). The elote mac was the best and most flavorful, the short rib mac was okay but not amazing or worth the extra money, and the chicken pot pie mac was very bland/flavorless and didn't have much chicken in it. The food didn't feel like it warranted the wait time and because of that I would not return.

The egg salad was sooo watery, it was like a soup. Just dripping and running down out of the bread. Also, a HEAVY mustard taste, overpowering everything else. The burger had a piece of something (literally) translucent on it, apparently their idea of a slice of cheese? And the accompanying fries were COLD. The toasted almond milkshake was so runny it was like a flavored water. Not at all a creamy consistency, I don't even think they made it with milk, it seemed to be just a tiny bit of ice cream, some water and a lot of ice cubes (still visible in the shake). Just nasty. The other milkshake seemed ok. Of course, with the order being from DoorDash, it's near-impossible to get any real support, so it's just basically a total loss. I don't know if Fenton's just doesn't GAF, since they're always busy anyways, OR if they need to pay their employees more in order to attract the sort of person who's capable of being trained to care to do things correctly, but it's just really a bummer that such a neat, fun, old legacy business is allowing itself to disappoint customers and turn into a big mess like this. It extended to the salad rolls which were generously portioned and used lightly fried tofu which I prefer. One additional note about the broth. It's a richer style than I normally like so I couldn't drink it to the last drop, but I can't fault its great flavor. The service was above average, with a spirited vibe. Loved everything, will be back to try more on the menu.

Before they got into Berkeley bowl they were doing pop ups around the Bay Area and meeting alot of their customers! I really appreciate how down to earth and cool they are! Cons: My only Con is that it's not sold in more stores! I have to drive over to Berkeley bowl in order to get it but honestly it's worth the drive! I will say this if your looking for an ice cream in all your favorite dessert flavors this is the ice cream to try!! I recommend you give this ice cream a try and once you do I will warn you...
