A couple of months ago, I gave American Maids a poor review....but would now like to upgrade that. The Maids showed up pretty much on time (about 15 mins late....they had quite an interesting story to tell!) and went right to work. They were diligent in their efforts to clean even those rooms no one had been in for quite some time. When they were not sure about something they asked. I was quite happy with what they did this time. I had suggested that if they send out Maids on Saturday that they should have someone in the office to answer the phone in case problems come up. UPDATE: ** I understand you have been in business for over 10 yrs or so. So there is definitely a level of reputation. I'd imagine you hold your business to the highest of standards. For paying $265 to clean only the main level of the house; I didn't think it would be too much trouble to spend maybe 2 minutes to wipe down the spots on the glass door. My house is not even big! And maybe another minute to wipe the dust off the vent. I'm not even asking to wipe all the windows. Just the main door with spots that are clearly visible. I suppose that's an additional fee as mentioned. That's unfortunate. For $265, "deep clean" was the expectation. You offered to come again as a "courtesy" to resolve our concerns. Appreciate the offer. However, not likely would we want to use your services again. Takes time and effort to arrange the time and correct what should've been done thoroughly the first time. Me and my husband did a run through at the end and mentioned there was still dust visibly present in the bathroom but didn't go further as we didn't want maids to feel bad and they looked like they were in a hurry. Nonetheless, for $265, I'm sure any person would expect a thorough job. As that should be the standard. The maids that arrived were pleasant. The issue is, not very detailed for "deep cleaning." Dust also found around shelving and picture frames in main living room, (bathroom) toilet paper holder, mirror frame and bathroom cabinetry-- not thoroughly wiped down or was just overlooked. Both bathrooms. As if all was just "surface" cleaning. Again, not "deep cleaning." As requested. "Nooks and crannies" were missed. I guess one could never get it exactly as one one like. Unless you do it yourself. Thought I would just give house maids a try, given as a parent, with 2 kids and a dog. Needed a bit of a break. Also, was a bit pricey. I paid $336 for a deep clean as required for a first service by American Maids. My condo was tidy and mainly needed, dusting and surface cleaning. During the walk-through I noticed the bathroom floors were not mopped underneath the sink was not swept because there was bobby pins on the floor. None of the nightstands were dusted. None of the living room or bedroom furniture was dusted. None of the windowsills were wiped. Everything that was wiped was wiped around, nothing was moved and wiped under. There were coffee stains, still on the kitchen floor, proving it was not mopped. I was embarrassed for the house cleaner during the walk-through. They stayed longer and cleaned some of the things I pointed out and asked me to do another walk-through. I told them it was fine and they left because I did not want to go through the house pointing things out again. It sucks because I was hoping to use American Maids bi-weekly. read more

I used American Maids for a while and had been happy with the experience until some very important items were damaged in a cleaning (after not having been an issue in previous cleanings). This was extremely upsetting, on top of which, the way it was handled after I brought it to their attention was also very disappointing. We needed our house cleaned for Thanksgiving so I called maybe a month in advance and got on their schedule for the week of Thanksgiving. The two maids arrived, a few hours after the estimated time of arrival, but it was in fact an estimated time of arrival. They never called us to tell us they were on their way or that they were at our house. Good thing we were looking out the window when they pulled into our neighbors driveway so that we could correct this minor mistake. The two women that arrived were very friendly and listened to our requests and were very respectful. When they were done cleaning a room I would go around just curious what this "DEEP CLEAN" was getting me. In certain rooms I would run my hand across my wood furniture and my hand would come up dusty. This was not a single occurrence. Multiple air returns remained dusty after they were finished, and in multiple cases items like pictures and decorations were not moved to be dusted under.. they were just dusted around. I would not consider this a "DEEP CLEAN", I would only consider it a cleaning.. Our house was pretty clean already, nothing laying around on the room and everything very tidy. We wanted this deep clean to get the stuff we don't do on a normal basis.. but with what was done I would not hire American Maids again. A clean house is so very relaxing. I used my Groupon today and had the best experience out of the previous 3 cleanings I've had with other companies. My previous experiences with other cleaning services have actually mde me hesitant to try another service, because I felt as though I was wasting money on what looked like a pretty mediocre job. But today I was pretty impressed. Making the appointment was fairly easy. They decided on 1 person for 4 hours, and that person was set to arrive between 7-8 am. At 6:58 am, my doorbell rang and Natalia arrived lugging what was probably 100 lbs. of cleaning supplies & a vacuum. I was working from home and so was present while she was cleaning. Aside from an awfully loud vacuum, you would never have known she was there. She seems to have been very thorough, especially in the kitchen & bath-- which is the most important in my book-- and everything looks great. She even cleaned the dishes my husband left in the sink. You know, because it's achingly far from the dishwasher...easily 2 inches. In any case, I'll review my husband separately. I would use American Maids again. read more

To start - I'd like to say this company has a great cleaning crew. They are very thorough and pleasant. This review is going to focus on their management/billing practices. I called a couple weeks ago to get a cleaning because they had sent a $10 coupon out via email. When talking to the woman at the office she said a deep clean would be $160 and a basic clean would be $89 BUT the coupon wouldn't apply to the $89. I then read her the email I got with the coupon which stated it DID apply to the basic cleaning and she said, "Oh OK I guess its $79 then." I booked the appointment because $79 for a small 2 bed 1 bath apartment is pretty good. Now, 2 weeks later, I open my checking account and see I have a charge for $132 and think well they must have made a mistake. I called today and talked to an incredibly unhelpful woman who argued that the prices I was quoted "aren't real" and asked who I talked to (uh I don't know it's your company). I asked for a refund of $53 and she said no, we don't have a $89 price option. She did however mentioned that no coupon was applied so at the very least hopefully I can get $10 back. She hung up saying she had to talk to the owner and would call me back. STILL haven't heard back. This company is shady now that I'm looking into it - no prices posted on website or anywhere and no accountability. I've suggested this company to two people to use in the past but with how much of a headache their billing is I wouldn't recommend them to anyone now. read more

We had a minor domestic emergency when a construction worker in our place decided to cut tile IN OUR KITCHEN WITH A DRY SAW. There was dust. EVERYWHERE. I mean EVERYWHERE. We googled some places and found American Maids to be the most professional, best priced and speedy option. They were so accommodating and right on time. Then there is the cleaning. WOW. Great maids poor scheduling. I have a baby boy. I scheduled American maids for every other Saturday at 9am. The maids would arrive in between 9 and 9:45. Normally this would not be a big deal, but as any parent knows nap time is important. After speaking with the owner via email, I eventually had to cancel my service after the 3rd visit. The maids themselves did a great job, very clean. After canceling I was accused of being rude by the owner of the company via email. To clarify, In a previous email I wrote that if they were not able to schedule my cleaning at a set time 9am, I would have to find a new maid service. When she replied she asked, "can I ask why you are canceling". Perhaps I am wrong but I feel this shows a lack of interest in what customers are writing via email. She also stated that "No service company will offer a set start time" In my opinion this is a completely False statement. As a matter of fact my current maid service has no issue arriving at my requested 9am start time. Owning a small service company myself I realize scheduling can be a challenge, I cannot understand why the first choice of a start time would not be given to committed reoccurring customers. read more

OK... This was the very first time I ever hired a cleaning service and I didn't know what to expect. Well, color me thrilled! I had requested a deep clean, and I didn't realize how nice my apartment can look. The crew of 2 arrived right on time, and when the job seemed to be going over 3 hours - I was asked permission for more time and to add another crew member (yeah, I didn't realize my apartment needed that much work, either!). A little less than 4.5 hours - and my place looks and smells amazing. Minor issue - but not enough to ding the rating - It doesn't appear that my living room couch and chair were vacuumed under the cushions. Outside - they did - and no small feat considering I have two cats that cannot stand being brushed! After rough moments with other cleaning services (I'm looking at you, Manic Maids), I found American Maids and I couldn't be more thrilled. Ilona's teams are awesome and, though there is sometimes a language barrier, the ladies always do a terrific job. I was even hesitant to write this review because I don't want it to be even tougher for me to get a Saturday appointment! But they deserve the credit. They are licensed & bonded which is great, because though they are on par with pricing on Craigslist, ($20-25 per person/per hour), with Craigslist you never know who you're inviting into your home. I had the Groupon and was looking forward to getting my relatively grungy home cleaned by pros. Since I had answered questions via email and by phone, I expected to have a great experience. Meh. They were due at 12:30. At 12:23 I received a phone call saying that if I didn't provide a parking space, I would have to pay for their meter. Excuse me? Where was that in the fine print? That's just tacky. Sorry. Life's tough. Feed your own meter. But in order to save time and be polite, I called my doorman and asked if we had any spaces these people could use for two hours. Gentleman that he is, my doorman came through. When the two ladies came in, I showed them around. They saw my built-in bookshelves. And I said I'd like them to dust. The shelves are glass. I am not even certain they dusted them at all because they still have a fine layer of what I call "city dust" on them. I do know they didn't dust the knickknacks. I also thought they did a sloppy job on the baseboards. They didn't do a great job in the kitchen on the stainless steel. That was one of the items I mentioned in a pre-visit email, so they should have been prepared. At least my bedroom is looking good. read more

yelp failed me... not sure if we just had bad luck. the team of cleaners were one hour late. on top of that, NO ONE communicated with us about this delay. i had to take time out of my workday chasing them down - phone calls, emails... communication is lacking all around - i had specific instructions about locking up and cleaning interiors that were given to the rep upon booking. none of this was forwarded onto the actual team. i made sure everything was clear given the work was being done at my parents' house and no one would be able to be there. they happily obliged and said this is a common experience yet they did not follow a single thing. too many other options there to stay with this subpar agency. read more

Over the past year, I've had some trouble finding a reliable cleaning company to do a once a month sweep of our place. Luckily, I found American Maids through a Facebook moms group. They are fantastic to work with. I call or email when I need a cleaning and get put on the schedule. A day or so later, it's followed up with to make sure that the payment method is still the same. On the day of the cleaning, the cleaning crew of two ladies arrives within the time frame. For most of the cleanings, I was on maternity leave. So when they arrived, my baby and I would head out for lunch while they sparkled up our place. They loved cooing at my little one too, how can you resist a cute little baby!?! By the time I return home, the house is thoroughly clean. With some cleaning companies, it's a surface clean for appearance sake. Not so with American Maids, they really clean your home and well. I had an extremely pleasant experience with American Maids. Three kind ladies arrived promptly at our appointment time with all of their supplies. They did an exceptional job of cleaning my very dirty apartment in record speed (which is great since I was paying by the hour). I was exceptionally impressed because I asked if they would clean behind my bed. Without hesitation, they instantly worked together to move my extremely heavy bed (which was pressed against a wall) and cleaned all around it. They lifted everything from the counters and removed everything from the fridge to give all surfaces a deep cleaning. They also made my old splattered microwave look brand new! Finally, they were extremely patient with my misbehaving dog who ran around, occasionally jumping on them and stealing cleaning supplies. I used American maids on and off for several years for spring cleaning, always with phenomenal results. Eventually decided to make the jump to a bi-weekly schedule and shopped around, trying a few different services before using a groupon with American maids for a standard cleaning. The ladies who came did a fantastic job and even put in a good deal of time to try and get rid of some heavy duty adhesive that was stuck to the floor. They were very attentive to detail and cleaned everything I asked for. Soon after got a bi-weekly cleaning schedule set up through Ilona who was very helpful and professional in her dealings with me. The price point is very competitive given the high quality of the cleaning and after having been a repeat customer for several months now, I am very satisfied with this service. While I've had different maids come through they all have been polite, detail oriented, professional and thorough. They have arrived promptly at their scheduled time and I'm amazed at how much they improve the look of my place when they are through. After receiving a few "courtesey calls" that my appointment would be pushed back an hour, then 5 minutes later receive another one stating they could be 30 minutes late, I informed the person on the line, they could show up at 3 pm. I was not going to wait around all day while they figure out when they may show up or not - hello inconsistency. I came home only to have to re- clean my entire apartment. They didn't dust, didn't clean the bathroom. A new crew came to the condo and did a lousy job. Then when I asked how much it was, they said I had to call on Monday.....seriously, you did a lousy job and can't call someone to figure out payment. Don't waste your time with American Maids. I could care less about the same team as long as the job is consistent...hit or miss with your company. Again, policies are at the discretion of the owner and in my opinion (a business woman) to avoid the loss of a weekly customer, I would have forgiven a measly $25 to retain $260 monthly. Common sense it seems...but obviously not common. Especially when there was NOTHING more to clean in my 2 week absence hence your team left 20minutes earlier than usual. I appreciate your apology but not necessary there are a million companies to select from and at the rate you're going, I'm sure we'll cross paths again. (read your reviews) You're offering nothing special...a bit subpar so I suggest becoming more flexible with clients who will endure the less than average cleaning to avoid the task of searching for another company. There was one scheduling mix-up, but we're all human beings here and Neli offered compensation far beyond what was necessary. She even kept in touch after I moved and had to stop using them.
