Had a move-in deep cleaning scheduled and got more like a light dusting/surface cleaning performed. Base price was $350 for a 2bd/2br condo and I still had to spend 4-5 hours deep cleaning afterward. I asked for special attention to the shelving in the closets only to find they were likely only dusted as the grime was still caked on. Self cleaning of the cabinetry after the clean resulted in the cleaning wipes looking black. The guy cleaning was friendly but ultimately not worth the money spent. EDIT: Since the business owner replied, cleaning looked good upon initial review and comment listed was sent minutes after the cleaner left. Kitchen grime wasn't noticed until moving in, and with respect to offering to come redo/reclean, that offer was not made, just a discount. This is a warning I want to give to anyone who is thinking about hiring the company for their services - don't provide your card information to them! I hired them to clean the common areas of our condo and provided our debt card info for payment as requested. The following days, there were dozens of fraudulent activities detected by my bank (someone used our card to make food purchases). My primary purpose in hiring a company to do a "move-in" clean is because every time I move, I spend about 6 hours deep cleaning the new space. People are gross! And I really hoped to avoid that, as cleaning isn't my favorite thing. I had to de-gunk the sink and sprayer and there were still food splotches in the fridge (butter, and mystery stains, hair, see photos) and the cabinets were given only a cursory pass. Pro: the interior of the windows (glass) looks good! Con: the interior window sills were still dusty and dirty. Bathroom looks ok. It's been fantastic having Sweep Home Chicago clean our building for several years now. They would come monthly to handle the public spaces, handling everything and always being prepared. Our main stairwell is nearly all wood, and they really took their time to make sure it all got polished, with it always looking brand new afterwards. Additionally, and equally important in my book, both the cleaners who came to our building and the office staff were constantly kind and courteous. Booked this service for a move out cleaning for a rental unit. When their person arrived the tenant had not moved out everything but I know all that was left was a couple of desks and some bags of stuff. I told them to clean anyway as opposed to canceling, but I received an email saying the cleaning could not be done ( not sure of exact timing) However, whenI went to the unit on the weekend there was no evidence that it had been cleaned at all, there was grime on the washer dryer, under the fridge was filthy, the bathroom was dirty and so I thought you had just cancelled it and i wasn't charged. I tried to reach out and see if we could get a cleaning done on another day and they said they had no availability. Days later I received a charge for the full amount and when I complained they used the excuse that the apartment wasn't completely empty. I sent a follow up email explaining that even areas that should have been cleaned if someone was living there were not cleaned at all and there was no evidence that any real cleaning was done and have had no response. Inside of wood medicine cabinet sprayed with liquid and the doors shut. No attempt to wipe dry. When I asked why they didn't dry the inside the response was no one has had a problem with this. Very indifferent. Refrigerator dirty inside after their initial cleaning and my request that it be cleaned again. Not sure what they cleaned the second time but same food debris was still there when they left. I would give less than a 1 if I could. Office did offer to send someone to reclean but after this cleaning I had no confidence anyone else would be any better. Then offered a discount on a future cleaning. Why would I call them again? Sweep Home Chicago was fast, (within 24 hours I got an appointment) affordable, (about $100 for a deep clean) and efficient (the 2 ladies were in and out in about 2 hours.) I have to agree with the "Eh" start from Kelly as a general perspective. It also scares the crap out of me that so many reviews for cleaning services appear to be super, super canned and/or explicitly fake. I understand that a cleaning service will hire external PR companies to manage their PR, but posting clearly BS cleaning reviews (as there are many, many of them) makes me really fearful to actually search this category on yelp. Examples: 0 friend 1 review, 5 star. 0 friend 1 review 1 star. Both with no actual experience described or doing the typical "hired to write a good review" speeches. I don't recall how we found these folks but we have been using them for roughly somewhere around...a year and a half. The entire time many things were questionable: The rate jumped 3 times, with no notice whatsoever. First 60, 70, then 80. We don't know why, but that's enough. We have a 1 bedroom, pretty good sized apartment. Meanwhile, there was never an appraisal or anything to even start the process. Mariluz, or maybe it was Maria? She had been with Sweep Home and went on to start her own biz, and yet was the only person from Sweep Home who actually managed to do a good job, ever. Everyone else had problems, was questionable themselves or generally cut corners in a multitude of fashions. I understand they do what....2 hours, or so? However, you'd expect them to do a good job in that time. I cannot say that I recall more than maybe once or twice that anyone did a good job, except for Maria - and she's not with them. So I can't in good faith recommend Sweep Home to anyone. If this isn't enough? When I tried to cancel (for good) after they tried to raise the rate again, they tried to tell me there would be a fee for cancelling the visit. I have rescheduled a lot of visits (and this is the only reason they don't get 1 star, flexibility and Maria) - and they don't charge for the reschedule and are pretty accommodating. But to tell me you want money for no visit? No. F you and goodbye - which is why I am trying other cleaning services. read more

After my previous unhappy review and a frustrated email, they called an apologized for the issues, and they were really friendly and reasonable -- but still didn't make me feel much better. (one concern I had was over breaking two objects and not telling me -- the customer service guy said she knew she broke one thing but didn't realize the other item was broken... yeah ok she still broke something and didn't tell me). Such mixed emotions about this review. In the end, my place was cleaner than when they started so I guess the goal was accomplished but there is room for improvement. I've used this service twice, each time Brandon (the owner?) has set up the appointment. He seems like a great guy, very accommodating and professional. The first cleaning was excellent. The woman was nice, she seemed like she knew what she was doing. My apartment was sparkling. Well done. Brandon even refunded 30min of the cleaning for me due to a mis-communication. Customer service on point. The second cleaning was like major bizzaro world. First the woman gets out of the car and says "do you have a parking pass? I can't stay if you don't have a parking pass. They didn't tell you?". This was 8:45am...I was hungover, late for the appointment, cold, confused and had no idea why she was being so aggressive over a parking pass. She frantically called the office and they told her to go find a non permit spot. She finally did. The requirement to have a guest parking pass is worth mentioning when someone makes an appointment. I walked her through the apt and told her some spots I wanted her to hit. I ordered 3 hours, I was thirty minutes late - blame it on the alcohol. But she ended 15min early! I'm like how do you start 30min late and still get out 15 min early?? I'll tell you how...leave a bowl in the sink and the trash in front of my door and don't move anything on the shelves back after you dust and just ignore all spider webs. When I got back to my apartment after the 3 hours she was already packed up and knocking on my neighbors door looking for me. I mean, I had 15 more minutes and she FLEW outta there - didn't even give me a chance to look around. Dang! Lastly, In the emails. I was told the cleaners can do anything, cleaning related, in the time allotted. However, both times the cleaning ladies told me they were not allowed to clean the walls and that cleaning blinds was too time consuming. Walls and blinds seem basic and do-able, especially with 15min to spare. The good news is that she hit all the big spots and cleaned them well - even inside of my freezer. And truly, God bless her for making my bed, doing (most of) my dishes and filling my ice trays for without this service I would be drinking luke-warm beverages out of my hands sitting on an bare mattress. read more

I decided to give Sweep Home Chicago a try based on their high ratings on Yelp. I would give them one star if it wasn't for their excellent customer service. Sweep Home Chicago came to clean my one bedroom apartment and the end result was less than satisfactory. When the maid was finishing up the job and getting ready to leave, I pointed out to her the various places she missed. There was visible dust on my furniture and areas that were obviously not swept or mopped. She told me that she was trained to not pick up or move anything, including vases, small tables, etc. I was speechless! When I called customer service to tell them about the terrible job their maid did and what she told me about not moving anything, they were speechless as well and offered me 1/2 off my next cleaning. (note to friends reading my yelp reviews: I justify hiring cleaners because of my partner's injury- I can't keep up with all the cleaning by myself. Ok fine, she's physically able now, but when she wasn't, her co-workers gave us a cleaning service as a gift and we are now addicted to this unnecessary indulgence. I called around to some of the other businesses listed on Yelp and SHC was BY FAR the most professional. First of all, they answered the phone, which is huge considering that some other top-rated cleaning services listed on Yelp can't manage to do this most basic step. Second, they were extremely polite and professional. They asked me some basic questions about my home and were able to call me back with a quote in less than 30 minutes. I have been having SHC clean my home every other week for the past 3 months and am thrilled with my decision! Taking on a cleaning service for the first time is an awkward step but the team at SHC made the transition easy and each week they continue to be professional, courteous, trustworthy and most-important, thorough! Sweep Home does not offer refunds -- however they do offer to have their incompetent workers come back and finish the job. If you have time to have the cleaners come over twice, go for it. This review is for the cleaning service I received mid-September. How to start. WOW and not in a good way at all! I could not believe the state of the place when I saw it. I hired Sweep Home for a move-in cleaning (our apartment was completely empty, I wanted to have it move in ready and thoroughly cleaned). I honestly don't even know what the maids did for the whole time they were there (I said that there was a lot of cleaning to be done, and asked for two maids). It would be easier for me to say what they did do rather than what they didn't (there is SO much that was not done!). They seemed to have cleaned the fridge and freezer, the microwave, the toilets, the oven a tad and then dusted here and there after dragging a mop around a bit (there were gross white streaks all over the apartment). When I moved in, I had to scrub out all the cabinets (when I wiped a damp paper towel in them it came out black it was so dirty, they literally didn't even wipe them at all). There was dried up old pasta noodles in the kitchen under the cabinets as well as within. The stove top looked atrocious, dried up crummy gunk all over. The kitchen counters were dusty and dirty and needed A LOT of wiping down once I moved in. As did the bathroom counters. The outside of the cabinets and drawers in the kitchen and bathrooms were just terrible too. And of course the floors were just disgusting, dirty and streaked up. Our apartment did not have hot water at the time, which I was unaware of prior to hiring them, but I did ask the neighbors for two full buckets of hot water and brought a plastic container for them to heat water in the microwave so they could clean with warm water. All in all, such a terrible experience and waste of money. Even my boyfriend who has much lower expectations regarding cleanliness was appalled at how dirty our place was. I do not recommend this service at all. A big chunk of money wasted for me to have to put in hours of cleaning to get our place clean. read more

I was quoted $180 for my 2 bed/1.5 bath apartment, which given that they were able to come short notice (I called them Monday and they came Wednesday) and there was a bit to do (i.e. clean appliances, deal with a lot of dust, etc.) seemed fair. They did a fantastic job. The entire place SPARKLED, which given it was an old building and not tremendously clean when I moved in was amazing. Quite honestly, I had never seen it that clean. I was especially impressed with the job they did on the appliances. There were quite a few stains and crumbs in the refrigerator and it looked like new! Overally I was THRILLED with the service and love, love, loved the results. I've never had a cleaner before but am strongly considering having one come every 1-2 months in my new place when things get busy. The only thing I cannot speak of is the timeliness of the crew. Because it was a moveout situation I left a lockbox with keys and was very flexible with my timing, but they got it done well before my moveout date which was all I cared about! read more
