I see their low rating and now I get it. So I go into the nail shop to get a LIP wax and the lady who is about to do my LIPS is finishing up a pedicure and massaging the client's legs. She performs the payment transaction and then walks back to wax my LIPS. When I ask her to please wash her hands, she gives me a mean stare. I repeat my request for her to wash her hands. She goes into the bath and runs water over her hands and uses NO soap. She did the lip wax, which was more plucking than waxing. Then I ask her to wax my chin. When she begins to pluck it instead, I told her no thank you. I paid her and left. Will never be back- UNSANITARY and poor customer service. read more

The lady was so nice and they were welcoming when I walked it. That's why I did give two stars, but the nails looked horrible and I wanted to cry. It was already 8pm when they finished and I just wanted to leave. I was a walk in, so I probably got the lady who doesn't specialize in what I wanted. I knew as soon as she put the dip powder on that it wasn't going to be right. I had her do a few corrections along the way, but it was just all bad. This is only after two days! I'm very disappointed that they would even let me leave like this. Very nice, but they need to have all workers truly be nail specialists. However, near the end I was fat shamed by Jen. She said I looked too young to have a 29 year old. So I showed her a baby pic of my son and I. She said "Wow! What happened? (As she holds her hands in front of her and expands them to show how wide I was.) You were so cute. Maybe now that they are grown you have time to exercise. Yoga perhaps." I got a fill for acrylic nails and this is the first time I've ever seen or heard of a nail breaking the same day it's done..... very disappointing. The woman also did not understand what coffin nails were even though I was trying to explain it to her. I told her that my nail tech usually puts more pressure when filing the nail for the dramatic shape and she told me to go to that nail tech then. She told me to file my own nail so I was trying to show her how to do it and then she expected me to continue to do the nails, I told her if I wanted to do that I could have filed my own nails at home without acrylic. read more

I have been a few times since my last review and my pedicures have lasted a while. I recommend Jen. She pays attention to detail and her work is consistent. This review is overdue, but was reminded to submit it because my friend recently had a bad manicure experience. Comparatively, our experience was a living nightmare! First time at this place was for my teen's homecoming. Other nail salons were packed, this place was not. Our pedis were at the same time, during which, both of us would randomly but separately, painfully say "OUCH". The two women doing our pedi were clipping the skins around our toes & at one point drew blood on one of my teen's toe. Instead of relaxing which is the way it should be, we were tense anticipating the next painful clip. Although they'd apologize each time they cut us, it happened at least two more times. Our experiences progressively worsened. However, will spare the painful details about my teen's finger nail, again, clipped by the same person during her mani.. After I just wanted to pay our bill & run! Until I saw the bill. So I kindly ask "Viv" to explain why I was charged $47 higher compared to their printed sevice & price menu. (I didn't even bring up that we were harmed multiple times.) Viv had difficulties explaining or justifying the extra charges, perhaps due to the language barrier as I was more confused. During our dialogue, out comes a loud aggressive & angry outburst, yet incoherent disruptive yelling which shocked the customers in the salon. Everyone turned their attention to an employee, still ranting barking-like, apparently, at me. All the while she is performing a mani on a customer sitting directly front of her! The supervisor & the employees clearly were used to this disruption & were unfazed by her bizarre outbursts. They apologized but regardless there were no clear explanations for the overt charges & the rabid woman interjecting herself into our discussion, they just wanted to get paid, and despite that that we physically harmed. No restitutions were made by the supervisor. Here's the finale, I confronted the ranting woman that her behavior was inappropriate & asked her to clarify what she was trying to stay. I really don't know how this place stays in business. It lacks sanitation in the entire place, I will be contacting Fairfax County health. So while you are getting waxed other technicians come in and out and there is no privacy. I find it to be rude that someone is heating their food while I am getting a wax. They don't sanitize their equipment after use, I watched her put it back without cleaning THATS DISGUSTING. After all this, they will hustle a larger tip from u, straight up "do you have another dollar for my friend, I giver her for her part" hmmm your friend did my waxing and gave me no privacy and you want me to tip her? Came here after seeing that they had a $20 pedicure in the window on my way to Walmart next door around 8pm. Found out the had a $30 spa pedi once inside, so I upgraded. They are a little fast, but hey it's 8pm lol. My nail tech did a good job comparing my experiences pedicures in the past. I didn't get my nails painted because that's not my style, however I did not hear anyone complaining or giving tons of instructions to the nail techs. Absolutely never come here, if I could give 0 stars I would. I went here with a friend so she could get her acrylics off, and the lady doing her nails seemed agitated and was visibly rushing the job. After soaking the nails in acetone for what was obviously not long enough of a time, she began digging at the nails in attempt to scrape off the acrylic. Not only is this terrible as its common knowledge that acrylic cannot be forced off of your nails without damaging the nail as its much too strong without being properly soaked in acetone, she dug UNDER the real nail bed, cutting open the flesh and causing it to bleed, as seen in the first picture. As if the open wound wasn't enough, she didn't even properly get the acrylic off of the rest of the nails, as seen in the second picture. Horrible experience, seriously do not come here unless you want to be literally cut and not even get a semi-adequate job. Not only does the place look so dirty & dusty, my pedicure came out looking like my 6 year old did it. And the nail "tech" was arguing with me about it!!! My big toe nails were all jagged & uneven and the polish looked like something I could have done better. She cut my nails all rounded & when I asked her why she said "everyone wants them like that". CAN I RATE THIS PLACE ZERO STARS? I reeeeally wish I didn't pay... but they *did* do my nails so... I had a neutral experience the first time I went... BUT THIS TIME WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I went in for a mani/pedi & wax. I got sat for a pedicure almost immediately but the actual service didn't begin until after I was left soaking my feet in COLD water for at least 10-15 minutes before the technician came to do my actual nails. I went to dry my nails and must have sat for 25-30 minutes before being told I could go home BY THE SAME PERSON WHO I TOLD WHAT I WANTED DONE WHEN I WALKED IN. I was like "but I haven't even gotten my manicure or wax" to which they were like "omg, but I didn't know..." (WHAT?!!!) finally after a bunch of movement in the back someone stepped up and did my wax, she apologized and said she'd also do my nails after I expressed how upset was. While I was getting my nails done (which were done SO sloppy) the tech who did my pedicure came up to me and apologized...it went like this..."sorry about you waiting so long, no one told me! I wanted more money so I would have done it for you if you told me" to which I replied "I told them when I came in exactly what I wanted" anyway...after a terrible experience, a waste of 2 hours and the sloppiest mani/pedi I finally paid. Again, I shouldn't have paid but I did. I didn't tip and I don't plan on coming back and I will definitely be sharing my terrible experience with those in the area. The techs are constantly yelling across the room - communicating ALL types of things, there is and was no excuse for this or for anyone to have said "I didn't know." #UPSET ps. the tech who did my pedicure filed and caused a cut on the inside part of my big toe, the one who did my mani kept looking up and around and almost cut my thumb while filing my nails because she wasn't paying attention! some ladies came in looking for Vivi? (she was off) but only her sister was there...they refused to see anyone else (and i'm not surprised) Im sure I saw her the first time I went...because they supposedly look alike. Stay the hell away from this place. My mom goes when she wants a quick pedi and convinced me to go. I actually made an appointment. During my pedicure the technician brought out the 'foot scraper', the one that uses an actual blade for it. Since I was reading a magazine, I didn't notice what she was doing until a bit too late. I wish I paid attention and stopped her. She cut off WAY too much skin off the heels of my foot. The shaping of my toes was just wrong. She told me it was the 'style' to have my toe nails longer and kept on saying 'you want french? you want french?' I had to repeatedly say 'no, and cut them shorter!' She kept on mumbling that I should get the french style and keep my toe nails long. She also didn't like the color I picked and went with another one saying it was 'prettier'. While this was going on, another lady kept on coming up to me and saying 'you need eyebrow wax'. I told her quite firmly that I just had my eyebrows done. They had been threaded two weeks prior, which is my preferred method for my eyebrows, and had not grown back in. The waxing lady went away, then came back in 2 minutes with a mirror and started to point out why I needed an eyebrow wax and told me how bad they looked (jee, thanks!). I told her I did not want my eyebrows done, but would be interested in a leg wax. The waxing room is SCARY. Holy crap, I should have walked out. Basically they shove you in there with another client. Those getting leg waxing get to use the table, those getting eyebrows done sit in some rinky dink chair. Nothing professional and most likely not clean. I laid down though, expecting a leg wax like I do in higher end salon. Instead they used a roller style wax bar that had been used on previous client. She took it and laid the wax on fast, and another gal doing the same to my other leg, half my leg already and started to lay down strips. The wax was WAY too hot, but at that point, all I could do what wait for her to get the wax off my legs. When done she used baby oil on the area, which was red from the wax being too hot (I actually got a wax burn that took over a week to heal). While the two ladies had me down for waxing the damned eyebrow wax lady came up and put wax on my eyebrows anyway, without asking, telling me I needed it. At this point I was pissed. But since my legs were cover in wax, as well as my face now, I agreed to stay put just to get the goddam wax off. I had to swat the eyebrow wax lady away once the wax was off. She kept on pointing out all the hair I needed to have waxed off my face - like my cheeks, my upper lip area, everything. Damn, I was mad. When done, I paid my bill (just for the pedicure and leg waxing, I refused to pay for the eyebrow wax since I refused it at least 5 times). I was told I was a 'liar' regarding the eyebrow wax. The other clients in there did not even bat an eye during this entire exchange. The next day, still tending to my burned legs for the wax, the heel on my right foot actually SPLIT from the over shaving of my heel. I got an infection on my heel and had to deal with over a month of freakin pain while walking while waiting for the skin to heal and reform. I was unable to have another pedicure until my heel completed healed (so to speak) about 5 months total. I could have my toes done, but nothing else. I had to wait two months for my eyebrows to grow back from the eyebrow wax I did not ask for. My legs looked like s*** because they bottom half was red and burned and they didn't even get all the hair, I had lines of hair that were completely missed. The health department really needs to crack down on this place. Horrible hygiene, nail technicians trying to give you something you never asked for, and the eyebrow lady needs to go. read more

Half of my acrylics were glued on crooked, I asked for medium length and she gave me short nubs, she spent about 20 minutes on them, made me bleed on 5 fingers (and told me it was because I had dry hands when I was clearly in pain from how aggressive she was being!) , and MADE me tip her for a $5 job. This place is the worst place ever. I don't know how they're still running the place. They don't even deserve this one star. The lady in the first chair on right side is the rudest person I ever met. She needs to learn how to treat her customers better and not go off in their language. One of the ladies had dug so deep into my moms toe while doing her pedicure that it made her bleed. Wow. These accounts on here are scary. I can't say I'm surprised but I haven't personally experienced anything too heinous. Yes, they always try to upsell me. Yes, they always ask if my eyebrows need waxing (sometimes repeatedly). And I've found, unfortunately, that some of the nicer technicians give crappy pedicures and the more brusque or talky technicians give the better ones. It's like Sophie's choice, man! Good pedicure or annoying pedicurist? Oh, the humanity! Still, they're close by, quick, and inexpensive. The job is typically competent to above average. After reading these reviews, I feel like I should probably find a new nail salon but, really, I'm too lazy. It's why I go here to begin with. I tried this place out with a friend who was a regular - she came for the cheap prices and I was intrigued by a $9 mani! We came around 2pm on a Sunday afternoon and I was expecting a bit of a wait but they were able to get us into pedicure chairs right away. They get +1 star for patiently waiting and not rushing us while my friend and I chose our colors (which can take a bit of time... we like to take our time with this part!). The pedicure was... okay. I have really dry calloused feet so I like them to really shave off all the dead skin they can so I can leave with silky soft feet... the lady working on me didn't use it when I finally asked her to do it, my feet were already almost dry so it didn't work as well... another thing I hated was that she put lotion on my legs... and then washed my legs... so then I ended up with super dry skin. Lotion is put on AFTER you wash so it can keep you moisturized! On to to the manicure... this was also okay. The nail polish I chose was OPI (they had a very limited selection of OPI though, a lil bit of Essie, and a lot of unknown brand names that I stray from - I always go with OPI) but I think the base and top coat products they use might be lesser quality. She did an okay job shaping my nails (I like a more square look, with the corners slightly rounded) but a sucky job with my cuticles - she barely cleaned them up. Then, she put lotion on my hands... and then told me to go wash my hands. WTH? I am the type of person who always has to remoisturize after washing my hands so this was just making my skin dry out super fast and it was really irritating (not to mention a waste of their product!). Then we sat to dry and they did not come back to check on us once. Since I am usually messing up my nails 5 seconds after leaving a salon, my friend and I chose to just sit and dry for about 20 minutes or so to ensure we were really okay before leaving. The application of the nails looked fine for about 4 days... and then it started to chip. That was the fastest I've ever had nails chip - and I didn't even do a lot of dishes or cleaning w/out gloves on so it really shouldn't have chipped for at least a week. I believe the mani + pedi cost $28 (maybe $29) so I might come back if I want quick and cheap service but for better quality I will stick to Nail a la Mode in Kings Park Shopping Center! read more

The workers are some of the rudest people I've ever met. I went in for a gel removal and a nail shape. Mai did not know how to take the gel nail polish off. She had me soak my whole hand in a bowl of acetone, horrible for the skin. She then sanded off the paint and told me I was good to go.... I literally had to start chipping off the other layers of polish to show her it wasn't removed. She was gas lighting me, telling me I was crazy and there was no polish on my nail. When I asked for a file, she unevenly filed all 10 of my nails in 30 seconds then gauged me for an extra $5. I continued telling them I was unhappy with their service and they did nothing to fix my nails. The facility is beyond disgusting, I will be reporting them to the Fairfax county Health department. I would not be surprised if you caught MRSA from their salon. If you ladies wanna get a wax here, guess what?! The whole salon is gonna watch you through the open door!! Do not trust these women with your personal care. They do not give a fuck about their customers or your happiness. my sister came in awhile ago and is waiting for them to grow out. one of her nails have already cracked. the acrylics are too thin and they barley put any gel which makes the nail crack easily. don't recommend at all but i do recommend "Her nails" spa, they did an excellent job with my nails and gave me exactly what i was looking for. read more

This place is great! My mom and I have started coming when I'm home in Virginia for a weekend (live in Boston) since we love to get pedicures and gel manicures together. My gel manicure is flawless and always lasts 2/3 weeks and the pedicure is nice as well. You can't beat the price and I love that I'm in and out pretty quickly. This place use to be decent, idk what happened. The lady tried charging me an extra 5 dollars for a longer acrylic. Then when I declined, she made them extremely short( like almost the size of my regular nail) the point of acrylic is to have a longer. Nail! Then she tried hustling me on some " stronger" acrylic formula that would be an extra 5 bucks too. This NEVER happened before. I declined and she did a horrible job. All my acrylics were uneven, didn't fit the nail, and lopsided. I understand at nail salons they try and hustle you and what not but at least they would do a decent job. Then she proceeded to ask me for tip Like 3 times when my nails were drying. I'm a paying customer, and honestly I have no shame in just saying, sorry you did a bad job, no tip for you. And I'm only carrying ones from now on, so if it's a bad job you can go ahead and earn yourself a 2 dollar tip. It's just better to go to a higher end salon at this point and pay for quality nails. This is the second nail salon in the area that tried up-charging me for longer nails( angel was the other) I'm either calling ahead next time to make sure or just going to go somewhere with great reviews. A few other things: A. I think they are struggling because they stay open really late. One time I saw them doing nails at 10:30pm at night. They try and get as much business as they can. Even forcing customers to wait 30 mins because they say they will be done in 10. I've literally seen a lady yell at a customer to " stay, stay, will be done soon" That's not fair to the other paying customers because then there mani/pedis are rushed. B. They don't carry much OPI anymore. They've replaced it with some other weird brand, probably a lot cheaper. There's maybe a row full of OPI but basic colors( red, brown, pink). Personally I've tried multiple brands at nail salons, and OPI seems to stay on the longest. C. This place is a dump. They charge almost the same rates as other nail salons for a horrible quality nail and environment. It's better to just pay an extra 5-10 for mani or pedi because it's really worth it. The pedi chairs are disgusting and old. The place is crammed with barely any room for ppl to walk up and down, and most things are not sanitized. My pedicure was rushed through and the girl did a half a** job. I use to like this place but they really disappointed me the last time. Waited half an hour only to be given a mediocre pedicure for less than half an hour, the technician was ill, she said she had allergies-she was sniffing her snot in every 2 seconds bent over my feet-very disgusting. Also, she seemed completely out of it, at one point I had to repeat Ma'am almost for one minute before she responded. I asked for the water to be warmer, i.e. hot in the foot bath, it was lukewarm and she insisted it was warm, then turned on the water rather than do what I ask. I have been going to My Nails for many years. Each time I go there I tell myself to not go back! It's so close to home I end up returning which is a huge mistake.
