I don't have too many things wrong with My Nails. Yes, it is a little more on the run down side but I expected that considering the shopping center I was in. It's also really small. I got a white tip full set and the lady who did mine did and excellent job. My only thing is she was a little ruff and squeezed my fingers a little too hard. She worked quick though as that was a plus for me because I was in a hurry. I probably won't go here again though just because it was a little too small for me as I'm claustrophobic. read more

I typically do my nails at home but remember going to My Nails when I was younger before school dances and thought I'd give it a go for a gel manicure I needed as a bridesmaid since back then they always did a good job. My Nails isn't a fancy place if you want to go for a spa-like experience, but they do a great job for a great price. It could be cleaned up a bit but it's not awful. The other customers in there seemed like regulars, as the nail techs were asking how all their kids were doing, etc. I only got a gel mani so I can't speak to their other work. I've been to this salon at least 10 times. I've gotten my nails done by a couple different technicians but I stuck with Jen because I felt like she was the best for my taste. She does a great job and pays close attention to detail. The reason why I'm giving only 3 stars is because this salon in general is not very professional. I've walked out of this salon feeling very bad about myself because the technicians were standoffish or rude. I always say "maybe they'll be in a better mood next time" or "maybe they're having a bad day", but I've come to a point where I'm tired of overlooking bad customer service. I will no longer go here even for emergency pedicures. Having returned from an emergency pedicure trip, I am sadden and disgusted by what I witnessed at the salon. In my experience, on average, many nail technicians are not fluent in English. I have NEVER seen this as an issue. However, the technician's treatment of a Hispanic woman who spoke limited English today was AWFUL! The technician hustled the poor patron with up selling her on everything, required her to pay for services in advance and even required for her tip in advance. Yes, required- as in would not proceed with the service until a tip was handed over. The woman's question to the other Hispanic patron that she was attempting to assist was-- How do I know how much to tip for service that I have not received? Made sense to me! The technician did not attempt to hide her impatience with the wait or her disapproval with the tip. I believe that woman tipped $7 on a $50 bill. RUDE! UNPROFESSIONAL! UNCOMFORTABLE for the poor patron who was forced to pay for services she has not received and still had to sit in that woman's chair! The technician even started lining up her next client prior to completing the woman's service half way. Oh, and did I mention that for the first five minutes of the appointment the technician was eating an apple and did not wash her hands prior to working with her client. People really should treat others how they expect to be treated. read more

I live in MD but I won't go to any nail salon beside My Nails. I've been their customer for years. Their prices are reasonable and they treat you like family. They had new chairs and tables, the place is very clean. I would highly recommend My Nails to anyone. AAA++++ read more

I'm new to the area, and this nail salon is located around the corner from me, so it's very convenient. The inside of My Nails is what you'd expect from a $30 mani/pedi type place: it's not a spa experience, but it's fairly clean (I've seen better, but I've also seen worse). There are two main drawbacks from My Nails. (1) the selection of nail polish. The colors are limited, many are tacky, and the contents of some of the bottles look aged. I started bringing my own bottle to ensure the right color and the "freshness" of the polish. (2) Whenever I go there, they always try to upsell. I understand they're trying to run a business, yada yada...but I go EVERY OTHER WEEK. I know they recognize me, and I always just get a pedicure, so it's kind of annoying to be pressed to get more services that I didn't request. The first time I went there was memorable b/c I kept getting badgered w/ upsells: first she asked if I wanted a French pedicure (no, just a regular one). Then she followed up w/ a pitch for adding a manicure. (No, just here for a pedicure.) And finally, the coup de grace, when I picked out the color, she inadvertently (?) insulted me w/, "Oh, that color will make you look so old!" (Umm...thanks.) The next time I went, it was, "do you want your eyebrows waxed?" which was comical b/c if you saw my eyebrows, I don't need a wax...I'd have no eyebrows left!! All in all, though, I keep returning for more abuse. I mean, they're quick and efficient. I can walk in w/o much of a wait, they do a pretty good job, and they're super cheap, so I guess it makes up for being needled about extra services and being told that I have bushy eyebrows. :) read more

Horrible service. Lady was very adamant on upgrading to shellac instead of a regular manicure as well as getting a pedicure. After I refused she completed my manicure in less than 10 minutes, poorly shaped them and didn't clean them up to the extent they could have been. I will never go back to this place! read more

Above average nail salon. I've been here a half dozen times over the years, and it's a nice little place. Never a very long wait, nice technicians, very clean. I'm not a regular nail-salon customer, but I've liked them. I'm giving it a rating now because of what happened when I brought my 7 yr old for a Mommy-Daughter mani-pedi. It happened to be the day before the local Senior Prom, so all the salons in the area were PACKED. "My Nails" was the only place that we didn't have to wait over an hour, and it was great. My daughter had a really cute little mani-pedi, complete with hand-painted flowers on each fingernail, for about $10. The employees were lovely with her (and me). And they seemed to be able to juggle a full load of 17-year-old Prom-bound girls while still servicing walk-ins and regular clientele. I wish we had chosen a different day (other than the day before Prom), because when I asked if my daughter and I could sit at adjecent chairs for the pedi and tables for the mani's, I was told flatly 'no, sorry'. I get it - it was simply too busy. Next time I'll check Robinson HS website before getting my nails done :) read more

As soon as I walked in I was extremely rushed, I got a full set for 25$. And for a low price you definitely get low quality, super rushed and sloppy work. I went to Tina, who was extremely rough, she was bending my fingers to the point where they hurt. The worst part is they filed WAY too much, she filed my natural nail to the point where it was burning and I had to tell her to stop. After she put the fake nails on, of course more and more filing. At the end she filed so much that two of my nails were crooked and missing nail on the side and when I brought it to her attention all she said was "oh I'm sorry" and walked away, very rude, I'm paying to get my nails done correctly, not a cheap rushed job. Of course I didn't tip but if they want a good honest tip: don't let your work reflect off your cheap prices. One of the worst experiences I have ever had, will not be returning. For anyone considering going here, do yourself a favor and pay the extra 5$ and go somewhere where they actually treat you with respect and do the job correctly. read more

I have been there numerous times, and I agree- you have to go in not expecting it to be a high-end salon. They do try to upsell you on the eyebrows but I just said no so it wasn't a big deal. I got a shellac french mani and french pedi and only paid $50 which is the best price I've ever gotten for those services together. I personally like Jen, who I always request if I'm there. It's true, they do use the razor on your feet when you get a pedicure but I don't mind that too much. It's also true that they all talk loudly to each other in another language, but I personally would rather just bring an Ipod to listen to and save $30. This was by far the worst nail place I have ever been to. Where do I even begin. 1. I waited 20 minutes and there was no list of who came in when. When 4 others went before us I finally asked and they quickly sat us down. Then they assumed that 2 girls they took before us were my sisters. Really? Did you even ask if they were? Do all American's look alike? 2. There was a hair on my leg that was not mine after soaking in the water and my mom pointed it out to the technician and she just took it off my leg and put it back in the water. 3. She tried using a cheese grater on my toes...I didn't allow that. 4. She kept telling me I was wrong when I would ask her to shape my nails certain ways and pointed out mistakes she had made. The end result was all of my nails are a slightly different shape, they are still messy around the edges and the nails aren't smooth. Extremely disappointed. read more

As with most salons techs, I've found that as I continue to come back as a regular that Jenny has gotten sloppy and too quick with me. I'd still go for a quick shellac, but when I want to be pampered beyond expectation I go to Heaven Nail and Spa in Fairfax now. The extra hot stone massage, regular arm and hand massage and back, neck and shoulder massages are worth it, and they have been very good with detail. read more

I've been going to My Nails to get my eyebrows waxed by ViVi for at least 4 years now. It only costs $7 here which is very cheap compared to other salons. ViVi is the best, she always takes her time and always checks to make sure you're ok with your eyebrows before you leave. I have sensitive skin so I appreciate that she always blows on the wax before and applies aloe after to soothe skin. She's also given me multiple manicures and pedicures over the years and she is very careful and patient. I would definitely recommend going to My Nails for ViVi! read more

This is the WORST nail salon in the area. In an area rich with choices, you can do so much better! The only benefit is that they take walk-ins and there isn't going to be too much of a wait. The choices of polish suck, the ventilation is poor, and most importantly, the manicure is awful!! The woman I saw for a french mani-pedi didn't even put a pink coat over the white! My toes had a super thick white tip that loos rediculous. When mentioned, she just started to file down the end of the nail rather than thin the nail polish line. My finger nails were left with a very rough edge that was visible. I finally went to another technician and asked her to smooth the end of the nails and fix the hideous manicure! This was the first time I left a salon and felt like hiding my nails! It's now about an hour later and as soon as my toddler goes down for his next nap, I'm off to re paint my nails. Total waste of time and money. In Burke, go to Five-Star nails. It's just up the road and only slightly more expensive. They do a MUCH nicer job and the staff is excellent! read more

I have been here several times and was very happy with their work. However, my neighbor went here recently and someone had cut her toe with the nail clippers during a pedicure. Sanitation is a huge concern. It seemed like they weren't cleaning equipment between customers. Place is dirty and uninviting. The woman really ripped apart my feet during my pedicure, to the point that several toe nails were bleeding. I had to come home and disinfect due to my concern for infection. I have come here for pedicures many times and they're great. Decided to come here simply to take off my acrylic nails. The lady first gave me a bowl full of acetone to soak my nails in so I figured I would just be soaking the nails off. About 5 minutes later, another lady came and started to pry off the nails with an acrylic nail. I was fine with it until she got to the left hand pointer finger. She was being too rough and my actual nail was cut into with the nail and I could see the flesh of my nail underneath. I told her to just leave it alone and finish the rest of the nails. I was so upset, particularly because she seemed angry at me for telling her to leave the nail alone. She didn't seem like she was any bit remorseful. Now I have this nail that still has acrylic on it and I don't know how I'm going to go to work with this. Pedicures are fine here but stay away from anything manicure related. read more

One of the worst nail salons ANYWHERE. I am a bargain shopper and can tolerate a small reduction in quality/customer service in exchange for a good price. NOT WORTH it here. The place is filthy...recent visit there were open full size trash bags (not in the containers) in plain view...one right in front of the sink used to wash hands - I had to bend over the trash and hold my nose to wash my hands. The utensils do not appear to be sanitized and are reused from customer to customer. Customer service...FORGET it - they basically grunt at you and are VERY rough with your hands. I can go on and on...just not worth the couple dollars savings. I am going to make a report to the State and 'try' to get in touch with the owner - will be interested to see if he/she actually gives a darn or if the place is just a filthy cash cow. I usually get my eyebrows and sometimes my upper lip waxed, and numerous times the women who are waxing me will comment on my complexion and make me feel self conscious. I've been going here for years, so it was worse when I was a teenager and still had bad acne, which isn't really the case anymore....but still. I have been to this nail salon quiet a few times. Only for Manis/Pedis, nothing special but if you need to get the job done fast it is fine. HOWEVER, I went in today to get a pink and white fill and the lady who did my nails was AWFUL! In over 10 years of getting my nails done I have never had such a horrible fill before. I told them how unhappy I was and wanted my money back, and they gave me five dollar backs and told me to come back and they would redo my nails for free. I sat in that chair for an hour and a half and have a wedding this weekend and do not have time to go back. If you have acryillics don't go here. I've been here SEVERAL times because it is walking distance to my home. During each visit, they rush me and do not give me the chance to take my time and pick a color. They work VERY quickly. They do not always do a horrible job, but the customer service is VERY poor. The pedicures here are definitely not recommended; they are very quick and they do not really give much of a massage. The only reason I would recommend this place is because it is very low priced compared to other salons. read more

I recently tried this shop and it was the worst experience ever. I had been here twice before and I was never too impressed but the service was decent. I decided to try this salon again since it is close to my job and I had an hour or so to kill before heading to an event at Mason. I requested a manicure and of course they tried to sell me everything on their list of services. Before we even started I had to turn down lip and eyebrow waxing, a pedicure and gel nail services. I would have considered gel but the last time I had it done there the polish didn't last a week because they applied it too thick. The technician barely greeted me and carried on a conversation in Vietnamese the entire time which I find to be rude. She did a horrible job filing, the sloppy polish job chipped the very next day and the worst part of the experience is she cut my cuticle so bad it scabbed. She tried to blame me for brushing too hard when I washed my hands but I didn't even use a brush. I will stick to my usual nail shop and never use this shop as a back up ever again. read more

I have been going to My Nails for about 2 years. Most of the technicians are nice, and I've had some really good pedicures and manicures. Vivi is my favorite, but I've had Mai and Cindy and do recommend them to friends. My daughter goes here regularly too. Yes, they speak another language to the others, but doesn't that happen everywhere? Their prices are by far the best, and the shellac manicures last a minimum of 2 and often 3 weeks. Was in town from NY for a Saturday evening wedding in DC. Had my aunt book an early mani/pedi appointment for Saturday morning. Thankful that they opened early for an 8:30 appointment and they were very nice, but unfortunately I am very unhappy with the mani. She was thorough, but a bit rough. I asked for a thin French manicure, but she wouldn't listen and insisted it should be thicker. Also, not even 10 hours later and the polish cracked and started peeling.
