I decided to go to this salon because I live in a smaller town north of Mount Vernon, and I was headed down to Seattle for the night. I had had my nails done two or three weeks before at a salon in my hometown. --They were disgusting. (They had been disgusting since the day I got them. They had stayed on well but color was hideous, and I didn't feel like they had been applied very well. When I entered MV Nails, there was only one employee that I could see. I asked him if he could give me a fill. He confirmed what I wanted asked me to wash my hands and had me sit down. When I went back to wash my hands, I saw that the salon had a sort of hidden nook with 6 to 8 pedicure stations and there were several women working back there giving pedicures while the man sat closer to the front. I also went into the bathroom and noticed that it was very tastefully decorated and thought to myself that the salon was actually quite nice for one where you could walk in and get your nails done. When he started doing my nails, I apologized to the man for how disgusting they were, and he responded with a little chuckle and said, "It's OK." He then went on to take a great deal of care in making my nails look beautiful. He confirmed what kind of shape I wanted, he did each fill as if it was a work of art. --As to say that he wasn't going to let there be any acrylic hanging outside my nail on my cuticles, or chunks of it under the nail. He really did make each nail look beautiful. --Before he even got to polishing them, I told him I was so grateful because my nails already looked so much better. During I was having my nails done, two women came in. One said" pedicures please." --Without really asking if they even had availability. He responded that they were kind of busy and she said OK and left. I thought this exchange was a little strange because the woman didn't ask if she could come back at a later time and he didn't offer a later time. However, what I appreciated about it was that he didn't invite them in to get their nails done, knowing that his employees would have to shuffle around and pay less attention to each person if they had two more customers to help. Later, when he received a phone call request, requesting an appointment, I did note that he informed the caller that the time she requested was a busy time, but that she could come in a little later. So, I assume that if the ladies had asked they would've been more than willing to accommodate them. I was able to go visit my friend in Seattle with nails that didn't look like I had glued some cheap press on nails halfway up my nail bed. I was insanely grateful for the time and effort. This man had put into doing my nails and really appreciated the cleanliness and style of the salon. I will go back here again if I am ever in the area and in need of any nail services. read more

Part 1: I called MV Nails to confirm if they worked with hard gel, specifically asking if they did hand drawn designs. They said yes. I made 2 appointments for my daughter and I to get fills, scheduled purposely to be their last clients of the evening since that would typically take 1.5-2 hrs if done well, and it's inconvenient to schedule intensive services in the middle of the day. Upon arriving the male tech I had asked me what I was wanting, I replied a fill w/ hard gel and designs on a few nails. I have been getting this every 5-6 wks for over 2yrs. He took my hands and told me I had acrylic on my nails. I had to state multiple times that it was hard gel, with my daughter even having to speak up. Starting to feel anxious, I mentioned that I had confirmed they do hard gel when I called. He just looked at my hands. So at this point I asked him if that would be possible , he gave no real answer. He's still examining the set I had on so I continued to share that I had one weaker nail, offering guidance on how much pressure I could handle from the drill. I lastly mentioned I preferred my nails to be a bit thinner. We should be ready to start now that we know what my goal is. I thought. He instantly began rushing to drill off all my old polish, going so fast that he was chipping away more of the gel than needed to be removed. It was sloppy. His demeanor was that I was inconveniencing him. My anxiety worsening, I knew this wasn't going to be the relaxing experience one hopes for. I gently asked him to go back for a few missed spots, and politely asked him to slow down. He began speaking to the female tech -- clearly handing me off to her. I was glad of it since his energy was so chaotic and dismissive. I thanked her, sitting down. I mentioned the rushing just makes me more anxious and that I appreciated going a bit slower. She was accommodating in that she did go slower. I began to feel better. It being my first visit, I didn't want to ask for anything more challenging than what I typically get. I dumbed it down so much. I picked a set that only had 1 finger designed. It was a half sunflower made with builders gel. I showed my tech and the one working on my daughter's nails. They looked at this picture like it was IMPOSSIBLE. They said because it was builders gel they couldn't do it. Okaaaaay, can you draw it? They look at each other and hmm and haw and say she could probably draw it but it wouldn't look exactly like the picture. Okaaaay, so I'm thinking to myself what caaan you do? I was confused as to why such a basic skill and simple set was becoming so difficult to do. It was looking like I wouldn't be able to really get much as far as designs that day. Thinking to future visits-- I asked who the tech was that was doing the designs from their IG page. Because if there's someone that specializes in design, that should be who we see. They looked at eachother. Other tech said the male who just left did most of the designs. She said this because then they could say I was unhappy with his service. Clearly nobody could do design work with technical skill or artistry. So then I asked what my tech's specialties were so I could get a better idea of what we could reasonably accomplish. So I asked her what she would suggest if the flower was too complicated. She said 'maybe a sticker?" How disappointing to think that THAT'S the best she could do?!?!? I then pull up an even simpler picture of an ombré yellow French variation and was given excuses as to why they couldn't do that either...as if I hadn't been getting my nails done in these ways for years. By now I've come to an important realization that I don't say out loud: Most of- if not all- of the "nice" sets on their IG profile are all stolen from the internet. A simple reverse image search confirms it. I'll have to do a part 2 for the rest of what happens. As you can see I ended up deciding to forgo any polish after all the excuses and gaslighting about why they couldn't do basic nail art. And then how they started manipulating prices... read more

So unfortunately I've had multiple bad experiences here. I've waited anywhere between 15 minutes to an hour to be attended to even with an appointment. The pedicures are extremely basic and overpriced, always cold water unless you speak up and tell them it's cold, things like that. I have given this place many chances and I'm very easy going. However I had an appointment to get my acrylic set removed. HORRIBLE! The person removing my nails took a nail tip that's normally glued on for a full set to rip the acrylic nail off my natural nail. Painful and completely wrecked my natural nails! I believe this method of removal is illegal but not totally sure! I was bleeding on multiple nails and this person continued to drill on all my natural nails after and use oil on my nails and put the oil brush back in the bottle! Disgusting! I'll never go back! I recently started getting acrylics with gel polish. I've been to a few salons and this is my favorite, my manicure lasts the longest when I come here and the price is right! They did a nice job but my issue is that they don't sanitize any of their tools in between customers. They don't clean off the stations and there was nail dust all over when I got there. They also shared clippers and files which really grossed me out. Not only is it gross to share clippers and files on principle, but during a pandemic it seems really important. I was looking to get a manicure and a few people recommended this spot, so I called to make an appointment for 1:00pm. I arrived on time. They sat me down and I waited. I waited for 20min until I realized no one has helped me (other than giving me the binder ring with all the nail colors). I looked around and everyone seemed to be busy. I waited another 20min before I called it quits. I understand that things may get busy, but I made an appointment to make sure I made it to my other appointments and plans for the day. I'm new to Mount Vernon so I've been trying out different nail salons for my regular pedicure. This salon has very nice decor and when I walked in they accommodated me quickly. When getting my pedicure from a gentleman he asked if I wanted my nails cut, I said yes but he proceeded to not cut my nails. I had to ask again for him to cut them. The stone massage was nice but not any better than a regular hand massage. This place does not have the light to dry your nails. The prices here (for Mount Vernon?!) are pretty high....$27 for a basic pedicure. Back in Everett I paid $20 for the same thing. The kicker is that a few days later my pedicure chipped.... My visit started out slow as they sat me in a chair and I waited 20 minutes before anyone even came over to fill the foot tub. The massage was good and the hot stones were a nice touch, but when the gal was trimming my cuticles she cut the skin on one of my toes and I started to bleed. No first aid was administered, and thier solution was to continue with the pedicure like normal with my toe bleeding. When it came time for polish, she attempted to stop the bleeding by applying nail glue to the cut. It kind of worked but hurt a lot and she didn't clean the blood off my toe before finishing the pedicure. Then I was left again for 20 minutes and got no assistance removing the toe separators or putting on my sandals. Excuse my dry red hands, I have eczema. Which is why I never get my nails done but my friend had an appt with Mimi so I decided to join her and she did amaaazing!!! I believe the name of this color is Tropical Teal the pictures don't show how vibrant they are but they Absolutely couldn't have turned out better she was very nice and took her time yet she was fast and made sure the color was even. I got a gel polish so they won't chip and she put like 3 coats of color on. I went in the morning so my friend and I were the only 2 people their minus the staff. VERY strong chemical smell, hard to breathe. My mom & I went in for a traditional manicure. They didn't do any lotion or give a hand or arm massage. They were very sweet & nice people. So glad I chose MV Nails as they were extremely friendly, clean, good prices, great color selection and the nail tech was very detailed and did a great job. I had a wonderful experience!!! I went with my boyfriend who really normally hates going with me. This time was different, As I got my pedicure, my boyfriend was able to sit in the pedicure chair next to me and use the massage chair and watch TV on there big screen. I got a white flower over pink polish. Very girly but quite beautiful. Once my pedicure was over. We even got him to agree to get a pedicure. He keeps talking about his shinny toe nails. HAHA I had to have my acrylics taken off and got a new set redone. I got my eyebrows waxed and they turned out wonderful. Prices are amazing! Anna was wonderful. I would call ahead and ask for her. Though they do except walk in. For my boyfriends spa pedicure, my spa pedicure (Design on toe), My manicure (redoing my acrylics) with a swag nail, and my eyebrows done.
