don't miss the fried Zucchini- I almost did

Located very close to our Westin resort, this restaurant provided a variety of excellent food options, attentive, service, and an atmosphere that facilitated conversation in group discussion amongst our family

    Fried zucchini a must have

We had a 6:45 reservation at Muumuu, located in a strip mall near the Kaanapali hotels and timeshares. The restaurant is nicely decorated, modern, and inviting. We were seated after a short wait, and the dining room was about half full. They have a full bar and several beers on tap, which is a nice plus. Food-wise, we started with the fried zucchini, which was excellent. Fried zucchini can sometimes be soggy, but this was perfectly crisp and light. It came with a lemony dipping sauce that really complemented the zucchini and made the dish stand out. We also had an Italian chopped salad and a margherita pizza. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The only issue was timing. We waited about 25 minutes for the pizza, and unfortunately, my husband received his entrée much earlier and finished eating before my pizza arrived. The pacing of the meal was definitely off. That said, they've only been open about a month, so I'm willing to give them some grace as they work out the kinks. Prices are reasonable, the food was very good, and I would absolutely come back.

Tried to get the earliest reservation for dinner via Open Table. Got 5:15pm. Was hoping to get something before the end of happy hour, last order must be placed by 4:45pm. We arrived just before the last call and got seated at the bar, even though the tables were all prepped and they had a full compliment of staff. It turned out to be a great thing. We started chatting with bartender Maui-boy Argus, he recommended the Zucchini Fritte and Nonna's Meatball. The breading for the fried zucchini was excellent The zucchini was cut paper-thin, so much so that I couldn't ready tate it. The star was the crispy panko and Parmesan breading with the lemon aioli. The meatball and sauce were tasty, but came out lukewarm so we asked them to reheat it. Came back warm but not hot. The texture of the meatball was different. It was so finely ground that it had the consistency of a firm Pâté. I ordered the Linguine Di Mare. The pomodoro sauce was freshly made and very tasty. I ordered it medium-spicy. I could have handled more spiciness but it was fine. The linguine was fine, The seafood consisted of shrimp (4), maybe 16/20 size, and little larger scallops (3). Definitely frozen, but ok. The portion size was fine for the price. My wife was thinking if getting the Zucchini pizza, but asked Argus for his opinion, which was the Bianco. What a great recommendation! One of the best pizzas I've ever had. The onion and mushroom were al dente, the cheese was melted perfectly and the crust was soft and chewy, not crispy at all, which was fine with me because they don't serve bread, free or paid, so I used the pizza crust to sop up every drop of the pomodoro sauce. We ordered raspberry gelato to cleanse our palate. Unfortunately they don't offer any discounts...yet. She said they probably will offer a kama'ainan discount in the future, which I thought was odd. I would have thought that you offer discounts up front to drive traffic, especially since they only opened a couple of months ago, then cut back when you're successful but.... They said they do offer a buy X pizzas and get the Yth for free. Bottom line... We were very happy with the atmosphere, the staff and the food. The prices were probably are lower than comparable restaurants in the resort areas. It helps that the owner of the restaurant group is also the owner of the strip mall that the restaurant is located in. If or when they offer a kama'aina discount, this will make the place a must go to...frequently, and worth the 1-hour drive to the west side from it home in Pukalani. My one big recommendation... Make your bread available for sale. It is so good and must have with Italian food. "Buon appetito" I told my wife it reminded my of the old Jacque's in Paia, where he focused on creating high quality sauces and used ok quality, lower priced seafood, so he could keep the prices very reasonable. I loved going there. He also hand-painted the walls with whimsical art, as time allowed. He also later put in a sushi bar with I recall sushi chefs Hiro, now of Nuka fame and formerly of Teruya's in Wailuku in the 80's and Tim of Kah Sushi, formerly of Hali'imaile General Store in the 90's. They trained a young South American surfer to do the"easier" sushi while there worked on the more computers ones. Sorry about that stroll down memory lane...on to our main dishes

The drinks and appetizers were exceptional! Jade was our server and she did a good job. This was a new place and the fried zucchini, bruschetta, chop salad and broccolini were DIVINE!!! Spaghetti and Rigatoni were average. The chicken was the best I've ever eaten!!!

Had reservations for a random Wednesday night, it was pretty empty. Place was nice, although the patio area was a bit chilly but not too bad. They do a good job of making the place nice considering it's in a random plaza. The food was good. The Bolognese was to die for, tasted like the ones I've had in Italy. Definitely a must have. The pizza was okay to me, nothing stood out but still good. Service was great! Very kind hostess and waitress, had a great conversation with someone who wasn't even working our table. Worth going to, will be back!

Wonderful staff, beautiful decor and yummy food. We had a couple of pizzas and spaghetti with a meatball. Can't wait to come back!

100% would recommend this new restaurant. Such a great menu. We had a hard time deciding what to order from the appetizer/salad to the entree. We started with the whipped ricotta bruschetta and a nice bottle of Montepulciano. My husband wasn't that hungry and we have been eating a lot of fish lately so he ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. We are Italian so we are pretty critical of Italian cuisine. He said it was really good. And would order it again. So that's saying something. I ordered the rigatoni bolognese. It was piping hot and excellent. It was a short rib and sausage ragu. So tasty. The portions were generous and my husband asked for extra sauce when he ordered and it really wasn't needed. The service was excellent and there's a nice vibrant atmosphere. Only suggestion would be to offer some sort of bread option as the sauce is too good to waste and a rich chocolate dessert for the red wine. We will definitely be back either before we leave or when we come back to Maui. PLEASE give this restaurant a try. You won't be sorry.

We didn't have reservations and upon arriving at the host stand, the female hostess was snobby and did not want to help us and instead, the male host sat us down at a communal table with ottermans for seats. We didn't feel like crouching down to eat so I went back to ask if we could sit at the bar. We moved to the bar and ordered from the bartender; I got the lobster roll and my husband ordered the poke nachos. We realized there was a musician playing and wanted to move closer to the music. So I decided to go back to the host stand and ask if we could get on the list for a table close to the musician. The female host proceeded to snob me WHILE she drinks from her hydroflask. The male host stated to me that since we ordered our food already, we are not allowed to sit on a table since those tables have servers too. He also had an attitude. I asked very nicely and felt that they thought I was interrupting their deep conversations. The male host reluctantly stated that the tables open up after 9:30pm. Management really needs to school these two on how to talk to guests with more respect. This was on 11/14/25, approx. 8pm. As local kama'aina, we expected more but those two failed miserably. After we finished eating our food, we closed out our tab and moved by the musician. Needless to say, we were nicely greeted by a waitress who asked if she can get us anything. This place could be so much more but our experience with the front of the house was enough for us to not return during our trip. On the flip side, the lobster roll was really good whereas the poke nachos was okay. There's so much more dining options within the Westin's vicinity with great service AND food, like Leilani's Beach Bar (at Leilani's on The Beach) so we would not recommend this place BUT if you want a good lobster roll, this is the place to have it.

We unfortunately left it to 8:30pm to find a dinner place (had a full day) and many places were closing soon. I came upon Happy Fish during my research and looked at the menu, everything sounded good. Upon arrival it was ~9pm and they close at 11pm, so still have a few hours. It was actually kinda busy for 9pm. Folks at the bar and a few tables. It was seat yourself though so we grabbed a spot and our waiter came within a couple minutes to greet us and bring waters. I already knew what I wanted: TROPICAL MAHI RICE BOWL: mahi filet over a bed of rice with slaw, mango salsa, poblano sauce, sour cream, cilantro & lime. The mahi was grilled and delicious!! I asked for a side of hot sauce and that completed the dish. Absolute !! The service was really great, I enjoyed Michael and his conversation. He was so interesting and definitely made the experience 5 for us. The other thing I really appreciated about Happy Fish is that they didn't bust your wallet. The prices were competitive and because of that, I'll definitely be back. I saw they have a happy hour menu too 9-11pm, I'm going to try that before I leave along with black light bingo Wednesday nights!! More fun to come and I'll def be telling all my friends and family who come to Maui to hit up Happy Fish. Amazing service, bomb food, great prices, and awesome vibe. Can't ask for anything more!!

The chicken nuggets we ordered for the kids were dry and honestly, I'd prefer Costco or McDonald's nuggets at that point--especially for $15+. The mac and cheese was just okay, but it also came out cold--another $15+ item. Everything is over $20, which would be fine if the food was worth it. My sliders were bland and also cold--no flavor at all. The only saving grace from the food side were the chicken wings--they were crispy and the sauces (especially the spicy one) were great. But--major shout-out to the bartender, Sean. He was awesome--super friendly, welcoming, and made the vibe a lot better amidst the food disappointment. He deserves 5 stars on his own. Now, the arcade itself? Fantastic for the kids! Great selection of games and prizes. We spent $40 and the kids had a blast, taking home some decent prizes. Bottom line: come for the arcade fun, not the food!
