Even though this place had a 2 1/2 star review, I still took the chance because sometimes people just like to complain about nothing. However, this place was just awful. The worst Habachi Grill I have ever been too. Getting right to the point-undercooked meats. Not only was my steak raw in side, but it was tasteless. I would have been fine with the tasteless meat, but the dipping sauce tasted like water. I had the cook refry it, he said he always serves it like that because that's how people like it. I said MED/WELL not RARE or RAW at that! Why ask if your just going to cook it how you want to? lol Maybe cook needs to start cutting open the meat before serving. Not to confuse anyone, but he cut up my steak into pieces while it was raw and fried it up. You have to let it cook for a little while before you cut it into pieces. The major issue was the raw chicken that was served to both of my sons and 2 other patrons at the table. Cut the chicken as evenly as possible so that you don't have some pieces overcooked and some still raw. The other patrons left chicken behind and took their rice to go. One of my sons left his food but I took his rice. We're going to try to salvage this food by refrying it with garlic, salt and butter. read more

Awful service, so over priced for the quality of food. You are charged full price per refill and instead of making that announcement she said to an individual at our 9 person table. So for a child and two adults we paid 30$ on just a few sodas. A white rice to fried rice upgrade is near 5$!, the kids under 10 eating free on Sundays is also bull shit we where told AFTER that it's only free if it's the chicken dinner and 2 dinners are purchased with it. Mind you NO WHERE does it disclose this. Also our sushi rolls where awful we all complained about the color of our salmon, it was a gray purple. They said it's bc it's "twice baked"?? Let me start with thank god we didn't shy away from the restaurant due to their star review. Please give it a chance! It was probably one of the best experiences we've had here in Tracy. Carlos our chef was excellent he was so attentive to us and doing the best at making sure we were having a great time. I loved the food it had so much flavor and were not shy about the amount they gave us. I also have to praise the waitress that tended to our large party, she did absolutely amazing at keeping our drinks full, our order was correct at only taking it once and repeated it exactly right and put up with a bit of a Karen from our table (not proud of and embarrassed). I had to approach her separately to thank her for not giving up on us and apologize for their actions. I couldn't be happier with this restaurants ambiance, staff and delicious food. The price was very reasonable for a party of 12 as well and they don't over do the percentage on gratuity, I felt like it was so low that we added additional tip. Which I try to shrug off and just ask for another drink, but then when we got our shrimp, the shrimp was dirty and chewy which was not even cooked or watched all the way. The only good part about this restaurant is the fried rice, it's absolutely amazing. My whole family only likes to come here for the fried rice. This restaurant is EXTREMELY HOT, do not come here in summer months. It's cooler outside than it is inside. The cooks are always nice and funny. This is my experience. I would not eat here again. We were invited and sat down with our friends for their sons birthday. We asked specifically for a seperate check for my wife and I. At the end of dinner, we noticed we were charged gratuity for a party of 8 or more. I tried getting an explanation on why we were charged, and she kept reitterating that we were part of the party. I just wanted an explanation on the "why" we were being charged.. I asked to speak to the owner and she said she was the owner. As the customer, it should have been made clear to us that a gratuity for 2 people was being made because we were considered part of the party. The tall waiter gentlemen gave me the reason on the "why", and whether I agree or not he was able to give me an explanation. Now the gratuity charged was 18%. I always tip appropriate to the service, and that can be up to 25% to even doubling the bill. Now to the service. I asked for miso soup instead of the onion soup that was given. That was never brought out. I asked for calamari appetizer that was never brought out. The chef was working 2 grills at one time. So the side my wife and I was sitting on never received the full dining experience of teppanyaki. When the sauce was being poured onto there dish, I was laughing to my wife on the amount of ginger sauce that was poured into the dish. I stuck my chopstick in it, and the tip was barely even wet. I feel the food was cooked out of order, compared to the teppanyaki's we have visited. The rice was cooked on the other grill, and our side was never asked on how we wanted our fried rice made. It was just served to us. I thought that was weird. There was no show. no volcano, no beating heart, no presentation on our table. After the rice, the main course was being cooked. I asked to keep the fat on my meat, and my wife made a comment about how there was less meat being cooked on my steak than hers, and I kept the fat. So rice, then main course, and the most weirdest of all was the vegetables were served last, which I already finished eating. Staff appropriately on a Friday night. Tables should be cleared consistently through the dining experience. The chefs need more interactions with the customer, maybe start with " Hi my name is__, I will be your chef". And maybe to get repeat business, the owner, should help come up with a solution that would agree both to the customer and establishment, versus getting on the defense about the bill amount. We went to Musashi's for dinner last Thursday. I had read the Yelp reviews but decided we'd give it a shot since they were a bit mixed. The dinner was great, the chef was great. Don't bring a birthday cake with you unless you want to pay $10 for some paper plates and plastic forks (or maybe bring your own..) Watch your bill since we had a charge I wasn't sure what it was. Turns out it was the tip (we had a party of 7) added in but was under some other name. The waitress didn't know what it was either and had to go ask. I'm ok with adding the tip in my bill if you tell me that's what it is. Overall I'd probably go back just watch the up charge for fried rice ($4.50 that sounds like would you like to upgrade FOR .50 when they tell you). read more

TERRIBLE service. Came for my sister's birthday dinner with a party of 20 people. We were the only people in the entire restaurant and had 1 server. Had to ask multiple times for the same thing, only to wait another 20 mins for them to bring it. Cook was great! Very personable and nice. Owner had a bad attitude and had let the restaurant get completely run down. Tables are not cleaned, built up gunk all over light switches and counter top surfaces. Bathrooms were filthy. And the WORST part- at 9 pm, and 91 degrees outside a it was cooler OUTSIDE than in the restaurant. With the prices that are charged, it's RIDICULOUS for the owner to not run the air conditioning. Will NEVER be coming back. I strongly urge anyone thinking of eating here- find somewhere cooler- and CLEANER! I need another shower after being in this establishment. read more

been here twice now under new ownership. the vibe is relaxed, fast, friendly and delicious! the employees are customer service oriented and tend to go the extra mile to make sure you have a good time, your food is served as requested, and your drinks are full. please be patient with them as they have just recently taken over the restaurant and are working to make cosmetic changes slowly but surely. I didn't bother rounding up because I can definitely say that I will never be coming back. Teppanyaki - The food was "good" - The chefs were subpar - Definitely not worth the price Sushi - The Worst sushi I have ever had. I only ended up eating half of one piece of my entire roll. It was a total waste of money. The only item I ordered that I did somewhat like was their shrimp tempura. But it wasn't memorable. Torn between eating here and Bluefin, we opted for this place. Stupid me. What initially attracted me was the $24 dinner special for two for the Tepanyaki. Ok, I'll give it a try. I know the show is usually better than the flavor, but hey...I'll be open minded. We got seated with a nice young family of 4. I saw that they were seated for a while and I guess the way this place works is that they don't start cooking until the table area is full of 8 people. Lo and behold like always I get the old granny gizzard sitting next to me. Her husband was quiet and actually seemed upset. At first I thought it was because chatty betty was talking up a storm to me and ignoring him, but she quickly made it known that he had Alzeimers. Ok it's one thing to tell me that you KNOW how to use chopsticks, but don't you know it's not only RUDE but UNSANITARY to touch MY chopsticks (especially in the bottom region where the food touches)? Granny needs to back the hell up! Man, I was appalled when she did that. She just reached over on my plate and grabbed my chopsticks with her 80 yr-old fingers. Wow I had to bite my tongue to keep from saying anything, but I kept it together for AARP sakes. She then told us that the Japanese owner calls her "Mommy" and that she learned that in "VIETNAM", that's a sign of respect. Hello??? Japanese restaurant? Vietnam? Did they mention that fact that the stupid fried rice was an extra $5? Can you say HIDDEN CHARGES? Don't let the cheap wine price fool you. The "wine" glass is more like a champagne flute and most likely the wine is from a paper box with a spout. The food wasn't tasty at all. It wasn't terrible, but certainly not flavorful. I think for the price, you're better off in some hole-in-the-wall. The highlight of the evening was when I saw Cousin Marv come in for takeout. Remember him from MC Hammer's reality show "Hammertime"? There was one episode when he took a blind date to Musashi's with Hammer and his wife. The staff seem nice and friendly! The chef was awesome, so the "Show" was great! The prices seem excessive though. My wife ordered just steak, didn't want the soup, rice, or salad. Just the steak. Everyone else at the table ordered friend rice, instead of steamed rice. Each ticket was charged an extra $9.00 for fried rice. There are four couple, so four couples were charged a total of $36.00, for 7 bowls of friend rice. Seems excessive, especially when no one was told that fried rice was an additional cost, and especially when my wife didn't order any, but we were all charged the same amount. I had the seafood combination, and although it was pretty good, it wasn't the best, and it wasn't the freshest. Again though, your going there for the "show" as well as the food. For groups it's pretty fun. Just know that if your table fits eight, and you only have six, they will add people to the table. It was nice to try, but really do not need a repeat. read more
