This place used to be our favorite special event (birthdays and celebrations) to go to. We have so many good memories here. Tonight unfortunately changed our decision to never come back. The cooks are amazing but the waitstaff or manager are just horrible and not very friendly or personable. However regardless of the interactions, they listed something on their menu for 40 dollars and charged us 72.95 for one meal. I'm really not sure how they think an error like this is okay. I told them they needed to honor the price they had on the menu and they told me no. It was really upsetting. The service here is terrible. We were the first to walk in and we stood there waiting for about 20 minutes without anyone saying anything to us and finally the waitress/host says, "go sit over there" in the rudest way. So we sat ourselves, and this other family comes in a little after us and they get served first and the chef also cooks for them first. At this point there was literally two tables to take care of and the waitress was extremely rude and acting overwhelmed, I would never be able to see her working in a popular restaurant that actually gets busy. The salad dressing looked like cat throw up, and the sushi rice was hard as if it had been sitting for at least a day. It was also uncomfortably freezing in there. Used to frequent this restaurant a lot. It was our "go to" place for b-days, or just a fun night out. It started going downhill a few years ago which made me so sad. Carpet was sticky, just didn't seem clean, portions were smaller, the service was lacking. Towel service used to be so nice, now no more. Thought we would give it a try this past weekend. We went Friday and Saturday. Friday was ok...they had cleaned the place up, removed the carpet and installed flooring. The portions were still small but the food was good. The server knew nothing about what wines they had and had to ask for our drinks twice but whatever. Saturday, my son wanted to go so we went back. Different experience. Never even got our soup or salad. Our chef (Noah, who is great, by the way) started cooking our food and I said, "hey, wait...we haven't even gotten our soup or salad yet!" So he called out to the server. We got salad, but never received our soup. The food tasted good, but seriously guys...please get it together! I really miss the way it used to be! Tried Musashi tonight after all the hype of a new owner and how much better it's gotten. I really wanted a new place to frequent that was close to home. Went here with my hubby and sat with a friend having a bday party for her son. We were not a part of the party (but a part of the reservation) but can see how it might look like that since we were all talking and came in together. She only added us to her reservation bc she didn't want another family to sit at her table. She had a party of 13. Nine on one table and 4 on the adjacent table. My hubby and I, on a different tab, ordered 2 dinners, 2 drinks, one appetizer and miso soup (both of which we never received and had removed from the tab). When we got our check, it showed 8+ party gratuity. We were not a part of that party and we told the lady. When my hubby asked for the manager, with attitude said "I am the manager" and refused to take the gratuity off our tab. Not only were we charged the 8+ party gratuity, so was my friend who did have more than 8 people. Why would we both be charged that automatic gratuity. The service was horrible. Never got my sweetener for my tea, as mentioned above, the appetizer never came, the miso never came, getting a refill was nearly impossible and to top it off, we waited an hour from the reservation time to get the first course of soup. The salad dressing has the most watered down ginger dressing, barely any flavor. The fried rice (really good) upgrade was $5 each and didn't make a dome on the bowl. The fried rice was flat to the rim, unlike shirasoni in Brentwood where they overfill the rice. The portions were so small. The veggies came waaaaaaay late. we were done with dinner and sat for a bit before the veggies even made an appearance as if they were forgotten. The dipping sauce they provide was horrible. Zero flavor. I can't even understand how that recipe made it past quality control. Never again. Shirasoni in Brentwood is worth the drive. Plus, I always have leftovers for the next day. My tab was $190 for 2 steak and 2 very small lobsters, 2 fried rice upgrade, 1 iced tea and one vodka/OJ plus the gratuity of $25. The waitress didn't even deserve that amount. She even gave us an attitude when we arrived bc we questioned why the reservation wasn't being honored at 7. She said "we can't control how long people stay and eat" but they know we're coming and can control who they seat at that table and when. First off I've been coming here for years. I was excited when I learn one of the best cooks took over and owned the business! The atmosphere is the same out dated and run down but that's part of the charm I suppose. However this time was very different. They sat me and a guest at a table alone which is what it is but having other people at the table makes things more enjoyable and meeting new people is fun. I would assume they would encourage people to come at certain times to fill tables but they did not. Then we got a rushed lack lust cooking experience as he was only performing for two so why bother I guess was the mindset. I ordered over $100 of food and could not eat anything but the vegetables. The fried rice (our usual hibachi favorite) was spoiled. It smelled horrible and was slimy. The steak was rubbery, and had a freezer burn taste. The onion soup had a wierd, musty flavor. Thankfully, the vegetables and salad were fresh. It was busy because it was Valentine's Day. I made a reservation but somehow they thought it was for last night instead of tonight. It wasn't their fault just miscommunication. Even with that happening, we only had to wait for about 15 minutes. We did have to wait a long time for the "show" (about 50 minutes). Once it started, everything was very efficient and smooth. The food was really good and the chef was very pleasant. Also, the portions were very generous. The only reason I only gave 4 stars was because our waitress took a really long time to refill our drinks and we didn't get our salad. They all seemed very overwhelmed. We were so excited to visit this type of restaurant as it was recommended by a friend. The first clue should have been the dirty restrooms. The toilet and the floors were fitly. If the bathroom is dirty how does the kitchen look? We started with the assorted temp. It came out soggy and lifeless. We ordered the seafood combo and the Chicken delight which is chicken and shrimp. We also added the side of fried rice for $3.75. Our shrimp was over cooked but it really did not matter because all the food tasted the same. Their answer to making the food taste good was to us a ton of the whipped garlic butter. The last couple of times I was here I ordered some type of sashimi plate. Both times they looked dark in color, almost grey and it tasted kind of sour and fishy. I went with my boyfriend around dinner time and it was only us sitting in the dining area. It was pretty slow, so why did the service take so long? I should've made them take it back and get me another one, but I decided not to because I wouldn't be hungry again after making me wait another 40 minutes. I ended up eating only a couple slices of my sashimi and some of my boyfriend's meal which was okay. Oh I should also mention that when we were waiting for our food, I heard a microwave buzzer go off from the kitchen. A MICROWAVE? Were they just heating up our food with a microwave? If you're going to use a microwave, at least put it way in the back so your customers don't hear it go off. Yknow, be secretive about it. Don't give me a reason to prove that your food is old. For starters, the server was really sweet but her uniform/attire was filthy dirty. Give that girl a new uniform to wear and have it cleaned regularly. I have been coming here since 2000, and the last time I came here when visiting family the quality and portions have gone down ( fried rice, miso soup, and salad is good still ) and hiked up the prices. Don't bother making a reservation, they ignore them and seat you half an hour late anyways... We were finally seated forty minutes after we arrived and luckily we received our drinks right away. The waitress was very nice and prompt too. However, it did not make up for the hour we then had to wait for our food. When we finally got our food I was a bit dissapointed. Not because of the chef, but because some jerk at the end of the table told the chef to use extra garlic butter on EVERYTHING so all I could taste was the butter. Bleh. I ended up not eating my rice (the one thing I ordered that was not from the sushi bar). I ordered the dragon roll, which was great, and I also ordered the lion roll. I was not too impressed with the lion roll. There were thick chunks of onions on top with an abundance of mayo which was super overpowering... We went several months ago and had amazing service. And the food was great. We decided to go again this past weekend and we were extremely disappointed. The cook wasn't entertaining nor that friendly. The soda was flat and somehow we still got charged for it even though we sent it back and just got water (my bad for not checking the receipt better before paying). When we sat down I asked what the specials were and was told that children get a chicken kids meal free - so we asked for that and proceeded to order. Less than 5 minutes later someone else came and asked us to confirm our order and we did. Finally they came and started, the chef wasn't very talkative and engaging. The fried rice was bland and oily. We ran out of water and tea as well as didn't get our sushi order. Our waitress never came to check on us. We asked a few other times for the sushi and was told it was coming. Again, someone came to verify the sushi order and said it got lost. We finally got our sushi after we were ready to leave. When we got the bill we were being charged for the kids meal. After talking to 4 people about it, I had to basically argue with the owner to take the kids meal off the bill. She just kept telling me that the deal isn't on holidays and the waitress was new. I kept expressing to her that I clearly asked what the specials were before ordering and that is what she told me therefore I shouldn't have to pay for it. She finally took the kids meal off my bill but never apologized for anything! Horrible customer service and the food wasn't even mediocre. My family and friends have been coming to Musashi for over 14 years and in the past it was always a treat to go there for the food and great service. We have spent MANY of our birthday dinners there. I have even taken customers there for business dinners in the past. Our favorite chef Noah has always been awesome. (Noah was NOT our chef on this night) With that being said we decided to take our son and his wife out to dinner for his birthday tonight and received the WORST food and service ever. Simply put I could have spent the $215+ I wasted on dinner for 5 at Musashi and went elsewhere for a nice dinner. I even had to send my water glass back because it was filthy! I also agree with Belinda C. who's review stated that "if the restrooms are filthy how does the kitchen look". I will not go back to Musashi after tonight and will let several of our friends that also go there know of our experience. I like this place because of its the closest thing to Benihana's around here. I've been here on several occasions. I always enjoy their food. Their portions are very generous. I've observed that they charge extra if you want fried rice instead of steamed, so be aware. I'd love to see them charge a bit less for their food. While the chefs themselves are very nice, some of the service staff look like they just don't care to be there and you're bothering them. My most pleasant interactions with the staff were times when only the male staff was working. The older ladies there are awful and not friendly or courteous at all. read more

Took the wife here for her birthday this year, the food was amazing. Their garlic rice is unrivaled, and next time we'll be getting an extra order to go. We took the kids, and this being their first Teppanyaki expierience, they loved it! Noah was an amazing chef and made sure the kids had fun as well as Mom having a great birthday!
