Before heading home after the movies my son ordered the teriyaki chicken plate with white rice. Unfortunately, it was not good and he threw it away. I would've brought it back but we were already home. He said the chicken didn't taste right and the teriyaki wasn't good. We won't be returning. read more

Giving another review for one of the last standing businesses at the Tracy Mall. I have also been here a couple times in the past. The service is okay, for this particular visit i had to rind their bell 3 times, there was nobody up front. Finally got serviced and the food was made fairly quick. Wife and I shared the plate. She was craving it and i was not so hungry. Due to its cook to order nature it was pretty hot, the greens were fresh, rice was plain but did the job. Best thing about this spot is that it's pretty affordable. So good bang for your buck. With so much uncertainty regarding if the mall will survive, i wonder how long this place will last. read more

7/9/25- Made fresh right in front of you. Owner/manager is very kind. I had a situation and he helped out. Good size portion for the price. Since its in the mall food court it can be noisy at times. One of my favorite places to eat at the mall. read more

The California roll and salmon sushi was okay however the raw tuna was disgusting. Smelt like rotting flesh and tastes like it's been in the fridge for two years, absolutely disgusting. read more

Great place for a quick bite if you are at the mall. The egg rolls were really good. The nice seasoned lady was sweet and gave quality service. read more

The food is fresh and cooked right there so it is hot and ready. The service is kind, fast, and accurate. The ambiance is in the mall so it really depends on how busy the mall is at the time of day. The serving sizes are great, but I wish their prices were a bit lower. However, I still recommend going here for some good Japanese bbq food. read more

Good crispy chicken, we always grab a bite before a movie. I do wish the rice was fluffier and had some flavor as it's just plain boiled white rice. read more

My Bad .... I didn't check Yelp reviews 1st , this place is right outside the movie theaters at the mall , when you say food court food it's either hit or miss - well this was a miss , we had the chicken teriyaki and a California Roll : * chicken was bland Had to add Sriracha +soy + More teriyaki to make it Taste like something *rice was ...rice * veggies were forgettable * California Roll was made From cheap imitation crab Meat with a cheap Imitation taste The coup d'etat WAS WE FOUND A HAIR IN OUR FOOD , now I know this happens and it's not done on purpose but .....it happened , so instead of 1 star we provided 2 - why ?? When told of the hair the guys made another plate - no questions asked !! (Why did we want another plate ? ......I really don't know ) read more

I was standing, as the only customer, in front of the counter. The man working there glanced at me, and turned around. Didn't bother to say " can I help you?". I waited for a few minutes hoping he would turn around again say "can I help you?" He couldn't care less. Eventually I asked, can I get some "california rolls?" He replied impatiently, "no california roll!". I asked, how about "salmon roll?" He replied with an attitude, " no salmon roll". I asked, what role do you have? He said, with an attitude, " no any roll". I didn't bother asking about other items posted on their menu because I was longer hungry by then. He killed my appettite. Admittedly, it was an odd hour, like 2:30 ish. Not a regular lunch hour. But they were open, and if you are open, then you welcome customers. I did have a lunch and was driving by on my trip and got hungry again, was hoping to get a quick snack. But instead of snack, I got an attitude. read more

Always a joy to say hello to Simon Lau at Sansei Japan inside the Tracy Mall Food Court. His friendliness, sense of humor, and genuine care for his customers obviously shines. I live out of town, stop by whenever I am in the area, and do my best to bring my friends/family when visiting. The food is delicious and his team cooks their meals consistently great! Definitely give them a try and if you want something special, simply ask and he accommodates when he can for a fair fee. Can't wait to get home to enjoy and already looking forward to returning again! As always, thank you again Simon, for your hospitality. My wife and I will enjoy your prepared dinner by the fire with a tv show. What more could we ask for? read more

They have finally gotten their act together here! Stopped coming to Sansei Japan for a while because the service had gotten really unprofessional and the food was tasting inconsistent. Like the one memorable time when the cook left my order sitting on the counter & didn't even bother to call me and tell me it was ready, that was a final straw. Since this last summer 2019, things have gotten much better! More consistent food quality and more professional people working there. There seems to be the same guy cooking the food most of the time, which comes out lightly crispy for the chicken, generously served, and tasting yummy. Teppenyaki chicken with vegetables and rice is one of the healthier options at the mall food court, so I am glad this place is still around! You can also order beef or shrimp as well. Yelp Tip: For a healthier option, you can ask for all veggies with your protein and no rice, or ask for a greater ratio of veggies to rice. Keep up the good work Sansei, and we will keep coming! Arigato. read more

Food still Great!! I would have gave them a 5 stars. But customer service sucks! Especially from the owner, see below pictures! I was just asking if the chicken that's been sitting on the Pan was still fresh and he got hot and bothered! Oh Well! It is what it is! I even told the chef that this is one of my favorite place to eat. CG read more

Food is fresh. Usually no line and glad to have them near by rather than driving a million miles for teriyaki chicken.

I went to the mall to try to eat something good and nice. I went to Sansei Japan and ordered Chicken and Shrimp. The food was so nasty my, the cook burnt my chicken and shrimp. The food was burnt and very nasty. I use to order this all the time and food has went to poor and service is terrible. If you in the mall avoid this place, food totally is terrible!!! read more

Sooooo, today I went to #westvalleymall in #tracyca and ate @sanseijapan. I ordered the #teriyakichicken and #rice. Not even halfway through my meal, I bit into a piece of chicken that didn't taste right. So, I spit it out-it was foul smelling and sour! When I walked it back over to let them know the #food was spoiled, they got mad at me!!! Told me they couldn't refund me my money until they talked to a manager!! Before I could say anything, I just started #vomiting EVERYWHERE!! Thx #tracyfiredepartment for helping me DO NOT EAT HERE EVER!!! I AM HOME RIGHT NOW STILL SHITTING AND VOMITING FROM THE SLOP THEY SERVED ME EARLIER!! read more

There was hair in my food, they didn't have half of the menu items, and food was trash.

You can't sub noodles anymore for the white rice (at least that's what dude told me)?? Whaaaa, since when? And what happen to the chicken? Did I just go at a bad time??? I Still paid the same price, but I swear I didn't get a full thigh of chicken. I used to get at least 2 1/2 pieces approx...?????? Fosho though, I got hella rice and veggies.. Wtf!! What happen?? Decided to try the new Sansei Japan since they reopened. Flat out this place has dropped in food quality and presentation. First of all, it looks like they just slopped the vegetables (mainly cabbage) on the rice. The meats were decently cooked however there was no taste besides the bland teriyaki sauce. The beef was really stringy and thin. There was no "meat" so to speak on the beef. I asked for onions and as the meats and onions were cooking they weren't mixed together. The cook then placed the pile of onions on top of everything and that was that. I should have asked for more teriyaki sauce as the sauce was pretty non-existent in taste. Sansei Japan provided no extra condiments as in soy sauce or teriyaki sauce as in other Japanese fast food places. Places close down and reopen for a reason. I think this place had a plan to improve food quality but ultimately failed in the end. read more

One of the only places got can get a fresh hibachi style bowl. They give you hella good and the chicken is always crispy AF. I came here during lunch and the food was bomb. I got the beef and chicken combo and it came with rice and vegetables. The vegetables are stir fried and once the meat and veggies are on top of the rice, the rice is the shit. It's almost like fried rice. My only gripe is they need to get make the teriyaki sauce more tasty. I think I saw them use the Kikkoman teriyaki sauce. read more

Lmao people out here acting like connoisseurs of fine dining. Bruh, it's a food court restaurant. The foods good the people are nice. The prices are higher than what they use to be but I'm not mad cause they literally fill your plate up. read more

the food is great as usual i don't even know how many times I've been at this place, it has to be hundreds!

If you want to know what the food tastes like simply take a picture, print it and eat it. The taste experience will be the same if not better. Food is bland & greasy and value to portion is horrible. Save your coins and just grab a pretzel to hold you over on your trip to this rapidly deteriorating mall. read more

Not quite sure what these other people were thinking if you're looking for a double chicken teriyaki over rice there's no place better right in the mall next to the Cinemark you can't beat it and if you're looking for an alternative to fish and chips on Friday during Lent and make a killer shrimp rice bowl read more

Very well made chicken, but their lettuce is crap and they don't give you what you pay for. Also, they try to reuse old chicken on their dirty grill so you better have a keen eye. This place has the potential for becoming five stars and one of my favorite places to eat if it follows these simple rules: 1. Customer is #1 2. New meat per order 3. Keep area sparkling 4. Stop being cheap and think about growing (like creating a franchise) rather than squandering cents 5. ALWAYS USE FRESH INGREDIENTS!!! read more

I work at the mall and have been coming to this place for about a year atleast twice a week. They seem to have gone under new management, their prices have gone up and no longer offer a employee mall discount, and they seem to have made their portion smaller. Tasty. But not worth it. Their employees have all changed too, not the friendliest looking. The Mexican place has replaced them for me read more

This is absolute nastiness! I ordered beef teriyaki with noddles, the beef was undercooked and burned! And the noodles tasted like water.

I work in a restaurant myself, and I can say this place is horrible. Chicken is bland, cooks don't wear gloves nor hats. Grill is filthy. They also tried to sneak in some old chicken in my order when they clearly saw I was watching them. This place needs a new manager and a whole new stuff. People are just plain rude, I recommend Charley's steakery next door a hundred times over. read more

We ordered the combo california roll and salmon roll. We waited so long, even longer than the rest of the people who ordered after us that ordered food to be grilled and cooked. My daughter was so hungry waiting, she finished the california roll as soon as she sat down. When she began eating the salmon roll I noticed that the fish was browned. I inspected the rest of the roll and each piece had a brown section on the edge of the fish. I stopped her from eating it and brought it to the cashier's attention. The cashier looked at it, told me to step aside so she can take the order of the next person in line. We waited again then she brought it to the back and offered half the combo price back, since the platter was half eaten. I asked to speak to manager and she sighed like I was asking her to do too much. Then she came back without the manager, gave me my money back, and told me to have a nice day. Well at least she told me to have a nice day, but she didn't even apologize about the fish obviously not being fresh. Be very cautious ordering sushi here, and if you do, expect to wait very long. This is not the best responsive customer service from a food establishment that served brown edged salmon as sushi. read more
