The rooms are cute and the beds are oh so comfy! The front desk staff was super nice -- and called me after check in to ask how our room was. A heartwarming story: A young couple recently were married on a Friday night. They were planning on going to Rocky Mountain National Park for the day on Saturday, then returning so that they could keep their work and school commitments (she is in graduate school, he is in the military). I offered to gift them a night at Murphy's Resort, so they booked their stay, and I got on the phone to give the front desk my credit card. I happened to mention that newlyweds were going to be staying with them. Much to everyone's delight, the resort upgraded their room to a suite! The newlyweds reported that they enjoyed everything about their visit, from the accommodations to the food to the staff, and of course that personal, kind, extra touch. We did not stay here but looked like s really nice place. The employees were nice and the place was very clean. We came here for the "Sips and Splatters" night. It was a night where you can come and receive one drink and paint a picture with their artist teaching you how. They provide all the needed supplies and you provide the imagination. There was also live music during the evening. This was a really fun night that was great to spend with your significant other. It was nice and relaxing plus fun. Booked this motel on a recommendation of a friend. We are currently here but leaving a day early. I booked five months in advance a pet FREE room. It costs me more but it was worth it to me as I suffer from severe pet allergies. There are tiny animal hairs and scratches on the floor which is obvious that this room was not a pet free room prior to my booking. Basically, I was charged more for not having a pet. Also, you would think that pet free rooms that people pay extra for would not be directly next door to a room with barking dogs at all hours. I feel that these people brought their dog so they wouldn't have to board them and locked them in the room all day to bark bark bark- all day and night. Front desk won't do anything about it and said it is against their policy to not provide refund if you check out early. If you are an animal lover and don't mind barking dogs when you're trying to sleep then this is the place for you. read more

This place is simply the best for families. My 9 year old loved getting popcorn whenever he wanted in the office. I borrowed Battleship and taught him to play. The pool and hot tub just couldn't be beat. Huge! Kids making friends at the pool and playing games of ping pong. Had a great 2 night stay here. Loved the decor of the room and the lobby. Had a blast at the sip and paint held in the lobby. The staff was great and so was the living social deal we got. We only live about 1.5 hour away so Estes is our little home away from home. We have a goal to stay at as many places up there as possible. We definitely want to stay here again when it's not all white and wintery out. The location is perfect. Right before you hit town. Close enough to get to everything without having to drive through the busier sections. Hoping to maybe rent the lake view house they have next time with some friends. So I stayed at Murphy's for my Birthday in May. I decided to get a room with a fireplace. Glad I did because we got snowed in that night. We had Two Queen beds that were very Comfortable and I was quite impressed with the charm of the room. Loved the Gas fireplace and all the free DVD's, which worked fabulous when the storm hit. Due to the fact a lot of guests got snowed in, Murphy's staff kept food at the Continental Breakfast full all day. Bagels, Cereal,yogurt, fresh fruit, all the normal breakfast items. The Staff was very helpful and due to the storm it was packed. Some rooms lost power as we got 3 feet of snow. I overheard them making it right for guests. Yet our stay was perfect power was fine, the Service was great and the room was cozy. I already have another trip planned in The Fall. As it is five minutes to Rocky Mountain National Park. Oh I do have to say The Biggest Bull Elk was right outside our window eating Grass. They graze all over the grounds. I would not say Murphy's is a fancy Resort. But affordable, clean, and close to all Estes has to offer. read more

I loved this place! The male staff member with longer hair was so great! However, all the staff was wonderful. I felt at home. Free bike rental and being able to check out four passes for the mountain coaster was a bonus. The bed was comfy. The fire pit was so cozy. Lots of games for kids to play outdoors. Murphy's Resort is your typically motel/hotel whatever you want to call it joint, however, the service we received when staying here was phenomenal. The lady in the office, Brittney, was super helpful and friendly when we checked in. One unique thing that I really enjoyed was the had a wide selection of movies and games you could "check out" for any leisure or down time you might have during your stay. The breakfast offered was very good as well. If I were to return to Estes Park, I would definitely stay here again. read more

Second year staying in Estes Park. This year we stayed at Murphy's and we love it. Last year, we stayed at Discovery Lodge. While it wasn't bad, murphy's resort is better. Murphy's has a heated pool, hot tub, and plenty of amenities. Laundry, outdoor games (ping pong, corn hole, shuffleboard, etc.) You can also borrow dvd's and they are sectioned off by genre. Lots of board games to borrow and even bikes for all sizes! They have a popcorn machine and plenty of popcorn for guests to grab throughout the day. They also offer a sip and paint class that is open to the public. However, I think guests get a percentage off and a free drink, maybe? Sadly, we didn't get to participate in this as our itinerary has been pretty full. The rooms are nice, older, but nice. Great views of Lake Estes and the mountains. You are in walking distance of Lake Estes here! You could potentially walk to Lake Estes down to the visitors center and shuttle to the downtown strip. Like a 3-5 minute drive to downtown Estes where all the stores, shops, restaurants are. Each room comes with microwave, fridge, and coffee pot. Maid service has been great as well. I was a little skeptical about the continental breakfast when I read it online, thinking it would be just cereal and bagels. The breakfast has been great and the staff restock everything through the morning. Bagels, cereal, muffins, danish, coffee, fruit, all kinds of great breakfast items. Also, they offer a military discount if you book through them. We booked through Expedia but got this place at a great rate. Great location and great service read more

I would have given this a better review but stayed here last weekend and the motel was half empty. Instead of spacing guests out, they put a family with a newborn baby next to us that cried several times during the night. The bed was comfortable and jacuzzi tub was nice. There was only a single blanket on bed so we froze until we grabbed another thin blanket in the closet. No comforter for the cool fall night. read more

Best home away from home in Colorado! My family and I stayed here for several nights during spring break. We're from San Diego, CA but staying at Murphy's made it feel as if we were right at home in Estes Park. Even with the snow (which was a complete shock to is because it doesn't snow during spring break in San Diego) as well as the chilly air and cool mountain atmosphere, it was wonderful. One of the first things I noticed were all of the little helpful signs in the rooms and in the bathroom. They had step by step directions on how to use the TV, the DVD player (which they have a collection of movies at the front desk), and other amenities. Continental breakfast provided. I recommend warming up the danishes. Shoutout to Davis who took the time to get to know our family. People seem to be lot friendlier and more interactive in states out of California. Our rooms were always cleaned when we got back from a day venturing around town and it was always cozy and good to be spending a night at Murphy's. ONLY DOWNSIDES were that the pool was closed and the dryer in the laundry room wasn't that great.There was snow on top of the pool and I'm assuming it was pretty icy. Nothing you'd want to swim in unless you were Elsa from Frozen or something. BUT actually, the only real bummer was that the dryer stole about 4 dollars in quarters from us and our clothes still weren't dry. But if you're a true adventurer/family road tripper, laundry is something you shouldn't even be worrying about. Overall, I recommend Murphy's Resort and would love to go back to Colorado in a heart beat. It's a little more on the outskirts of Estes Park so you don't get too much of the hustle from all the other tourists but everything is also really close to each other so you're not a terrible distance away. You have the Lake Estes down the hill from the resort as well as Estes Ark across the street. You're nestled in between the giants of the Rocky Mountains in one of the raddest little towns I've been to. I'm really looking forward to staying at Murphy's again one of these days. read more

I was not expecting much for this resort. I was pleasantly surprised how clean and comfortable the room was. The resort has not left anything not thought of. They even had black wash cloths for us ladies to take off our makeup, so we won't stain the white ones. The room had a window AC which worked great and a big plug in fan for the master bedroom. (I sleep with a fan every night for white noise) they had a cabinet labeled for extra blankets. They had plenty of pillows for each bed. It was quite and the patio and grill area was great and private. The free breakfast was good as well. They had eggs, potatoes muffins, cereal, fruit, coffee, orange juice. For the money and what we got I was impressed. There is also free bikes. We saw two elks the entire time we were in Estes, both here on the property. Be sure you know what you're getting into here, folks - take away the flat screen TVs and this roadside motel is entirely out of the 1950s. I could quibble about a few things - the hodge podge of lighting fixtures, the vinyl floors, the ineffective bathroom vent - but this is clearly a good value, and an above average spot for Estes Park, where hotels can be overpriced, since they have to make most of their money in a few short summer months. I'm not sure I'd stay here again...then again, I'm not sure where else I'd stay. Friendly staff trying hard to make the place work. Like Tina M. below, the hotel was fairly empty when I was there, but I wound up next door to a crying baby that kept waking me up. This hotel was ok. I stood at reception for a few minutes before either of the ladies behind the counter acknowledged me. One was more in a hurry to end her shift. I was the only guest waiting. I also think the pictures are misleading. I stayed in the 300 block and everything in the room was outdated. Even the floor creaked when I walked on it. Was also set to have a mountain view. I got that, but it came with a construction site (see pic). I guess they can't prevent that but had I known that's what it looked like I would have looked elsewhere. I left early in the morning to hike so I never tried the breakfast. The do offer free DVDs, if that's your thing. read more

Stayed two nights over the weekend. First impression was suspect. Driving into the area the exterior looked somewhat outdated. Checking in the owners were extremely nice and accommodating. Once we walked in to the room we were very impressed. Recently remodeled and very well done. Continental breakfast was typical - Muffins, bagels, danish, cereal, yogurt, coffee..... My family rented the summit house for a week this summer for our vacation in Estes park. The house was very nice, very clean, a big kitchen for cooking, comfy beds, couches and chairs inside, and a large deck outside great for grilling with a view of the mountains. Something that we didn't realize was that it's not a stand alone house. It's actually attached to the office and the resort's friendly caretaker or owner (I forget which one) lives downstairs. The resort has lots to do, it's very close walking distance to a lake/ walking trail, there's a pool, hot tub and various fun lawn games to try your hand at. The location is very close and convenient (across the street) to a pick up point for the Estes park free shuttle that runs often and will drop you off in town or connect to the hiker shuttle that takes you into RMNP. read more

We had the pleasure of staying at Murphy's Resort, and as for Estes Park, it's as good as it gets! They are undergoing a renovation project, and we were lucky enough to be the first to stay in one of the new rooms. It had a beautiful fire place in the wall between the living room and the bedroom, a kitchen, a private back patio, and even gigantic jacuzzi tub! The best part about the resort is it does not stray from the Estes Park allure in that it encourages guests to be outside, and take in the incredible mountain atmosphere. They have a beautiful pool, a TON of grills, and even a bags set for their guests to enjoy. Short story is we could not have been happier with the experience we had at the resort. We booked the Olympus Cabin Vacation Home through Murphy's Resort and we couldn't have been happier! The cabin was in such a great location minutes from downtown Estes Park and the entrance to the Rocky Mountain National Park. The cabin was clean, cozy and comfortable with many amenities. Every morning we woke up to mule deer and other wildlife right outside our window. The cabin had multiple outdoor patios to take in views of the mountains and abundant wildlife. What a great spot for a vacation with family! Although the rooms are slightly dated, they are clean and quite spacious. Our room had a fridge, microwave and a table with two chairs. The price was great, and the staff at the front desk was amazing! Friendly, happy, very caring. We also liked that you could "rent" movies and games from the front desk - no charge! They also serve a nice complimentary breakfast in a cute environment. They even have real cups for the coffee! The resort is within a few minutes drive of downtown. read more

It's clean and cheap but not too friendly and a bit depressing as it looks like an old one level motel with side by side exterior rooms. I had to leave earlier than my reservation but they wouldn't refund for the day even though I gave them more than 24 hours notice. It's a little over a mile from the heart of Estes Park. My family of 4 (2 adults, 1 teenager, 1 child) stayed at Murphy's Resort during our Spring break (March 17-18) in a family suite. It had 2 queen beds in the living room area and an entire other room with a king bed. Both rooms had tvs, cable, and DVD players (you can check out movies in the office). With 1 bathroom and 2 sinks. Plus a microwave and refrigerator. The staff was more than friendly and welcoming and very informative on restaurants and outings. We also had their continental breakfast, with pastries, yogurt, boiled eggs, coffee and tea. Estes Park is a little paradise away from home. Luckily for us there wasn't any snow but you could see where snow was still melting in areas. Plus the little township had lots of little stores and we even toured the Stanley hotel. Such great service all around. We will go back! read more

Came here for a girl's weekend because this was a shuttle stop for a wine and chocolate festival. The room was nice and clean, lots of nice towels. The iron they provide is useless. We had a fireplace which was nice and two TVs in our room though it wasn't really big enough for that to be necessary. The front office is kind and very helpful. They have tons of free movies to check out, free popcorn and a lot of board games. Though it wasn't nice enough during our stay, they also have horseshoe pits and cornhole. It would be a great place to stay with kids. I almost gave it 5, but the iron was a big issue for my OCD, and our particular views weren't that great. It's worth a shot for sure, and I'd stay again with my kiddos. read more

Cute place! Excellent people at the front desk. They were so accomodating. Honestly, you can't ask for better staff. The outside is a little dated and the is inside is VERY VERY VERY clean but also a little cheap looking. I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel though, so it was absolutely perfect. The main thing you need is clean. And it is clean! There is a free continental breakfast in the morning and be warned that the hot tub closes early. 9 PM. I was hoping to hop in after a night out but oh well. If you buy the groupon for this place: the free margarita is not for Grumpy Gringo, or at least ours wasn't. It was for a different Mexican restaurant. ALSO: don't get this place confused with Murphy's Lodge. We did, and both places were extremely nice about it, though! They must get that alot. read more

They offer free dvd and board game checkouts at the front desk. The breakfast was well stocked and maintained throughout the breakfast hours. This is a great little family resort. We came here to participate in a Sip and Paint class. The lobby was filled with board games for customers to borrow and there were activities planned for people staying at the resort as well. There was a pool and outdoor picnic areas with grills. The Sip and Paint class was great! The instructor was so laid back and helpful. There was also a man who sang and played guitar for us as we painted. I highly recommend this to anyone. read more

This is the perfect lodge to escape and have a relaxing vacation. You are very close to the downtown area and are right next to the lake. This lodge offers many fun activities, as well! There's a great movie selection and fresh movie theatre style popcorn. Plenty of board games and fun outdoor activities located at the lodge so you can hang out and some family time/couple time.
