My partner and I spent a weekend in Colorado and decided on Estes Park. She picked out the Misty Mountain Lodge and it was a great spot! They have a beautiful fire table out front of the rooms, a cornhole set and most importantly a hot tub! The property management were very responsive and nice, you could walk everywhere in town, totally a beautiful quiet spot! read more

We really enjoyed our stay at Misty Mountain Lodge. The location was great, and the property had a cozy mountain feel. One of our favorite amenities was the gas fire pits, where they offer complimentary s'mores every evening, which was a fun touch. Our biggest downside was that the rooms do not have air conditioning. We personally like sleeping with A/C, so this made the room a little warm at night. The bathroom was also quite small, but since we were only staying one night, it wasn't a big issue. One thing visitors should know is that this property is not pet-friendly. If you're traveling with a dog, you'll need to look elsewhere. Another thing we loved about Estes Park was the wildlife. We saw several elk casually walking through town! They're incredible to see, but it's important to remember they are wild animals, so be sure to keep your distance and admire them safely. Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend Misty Mountain Lodge if you're looking for a comfortable place with a charming mountain atmosphere. read more

Check-in Experience: Fair Room Comfort: Poor Room Cleanliness: Good Location: Excellent Value for Money: Poor Bad things: Room hot, hot, hot. Heater wouldn't shut off. TV was awful. No live TV. Subscription service only. Awful! Needs furniture like chair, table, dresser Hot shower water ran out Needs bathroom fan - window painted shut Needs sissy handle in shower Needs more hooks for hanging coats, backpacks, etc. Needs nightstand, not a stupid barrel. Needs bed lamps, not a light high over both beds. Absolutely needs chain lock on inside of door. Anyone overhearing the code could come in at night. Fabric shelves broken. Minor - microwave turntable squeaks Good things: Friendly, helpful staff Paper plates and utensils Hair dryer Body wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotion Plenty of towels (hot tub too) Clean Comfortable bed Convenient WiFi works good Convenient parking read more

Great little lodge in the heart of Estes. We had a fantastic stay here. Hot tub and fireplaces in the yards. Staff was very friendly. 2 minute walk to the downtown area and all the shops/restaurants makes it very accessible. Very close drive to RMNP. We travelled with a baby and the location made our stay in Estes much simpler to walk around without the need to drive and find parking, which can be difficult in the peak season in Estes. Place was clean and rooms were comfortable. read more

Experience was horrible, with no positives. The booking was handled through a 3rd party, per requested. After reservation were confirmed through text message and email, we received a phone call cancelling the reservation. No offer for an additional beds to fit our group was offered. They stated that all they could do. Do not stay here, they will cancel the cabin you booked. read more

Location, location, location. Stayed at the Misty Mountain Lodge in Estes Park for 3 nights this past week. We had room #4, which consisted of a nice size living room with flat screen, a kitchen with dining area, and bedroom with closet and bathroom with tub / shower. Back to the location, the Misty Mountain is located about 3 blocks from the downtown area, affording you the opportunity to leave your car at the Lodge and walk downtown without finding and paying for a place to park. Dealt with Lisa (owner) a number of times via email and also after we had arrived. Could not be more pleased with the customer service. Finally, we were greeted TWICE during our stay by Elk within 20 - 30 feet of our front door. Now, if this concerns you just know that they won't bother you if you don't bother them. Also, if you find them on property and ARE concerned, just wait about 5 minutes ... they move on. read more

Lodging in Estes Park, Colorado falls into one of two categories: ridiculously overpriced corporate chains or *slightly* overpriced mom-and-pop motels. Misty Mountain Lodge falls into the latter category. I can usually forgive the quirks endemic to independently-owned lodgings (wonky door handles, toilets that require multiple flushes, etc.), but when a place charges upwards of $200/night, I expect better. Unfortunately, my recent stay at Misty Mountain Lodge (henceforth referred to as "MML") was a disappointment. When my dad and I pulled into the parking lot, I wondered if we had somehow been apported to the Valkenvania mansion/junk hoarders nest from the ill-fated Dan Aykroyd/Chevy Chase/John Candy horror-comedy "Nothing But Trouble." The little yard adjacent to the parking lot was littered with beer bottles, disused barbecue pits, and trashcans overflowing with garbage and swarming with bees. We would have turned around and sought other accommodations (the bin behind McDonald's?), but we had already paid in advance. To my surprise, the husband-and-wife team who own the place were much more amiable than the cannibalistic, phallus-nosed Judge Alvin Valkenheiser. They were quick to make restaurant recommendations and shoot the breeze about life in Estes Park. If they had a mute daughter resembling John Candy in drag, then at least they did not coerce me into marrying her. Our suite (number 8, if memory serves) included a standalone bedroom, a full bathroom, a kitchenette, and a living room with a Murphy bed in the closet. A cursory glance at the space revealed nothing particularly egregious, but my dad and I discovered numerous minor annoyances during our stay. The 32-inch flat-screen TV was positioned at a weird viewing angle and approximately fifteen feet from the couch (much too far). The Murphy bed was lumpy, and the queen-size mattress in the other room had a permanent indentation in the middle. It looked as though the mummified corpse of Norman Bates' mother had been resting there for decades. The entire suite had a musty, sickly sweet smell, leading me to wonder if the alchemist Varelli had constructed MML as the new dwelling place of Mater Tenebrarum, the cruelest of the "Three Mothers." Sorry, that was an obscure reference even by my standards*. I hate to be contrarian and poo-poo a place voted so highly by my Yelp brethren, but my stay at MML warrants a two-star "Meh, I've experienced better" rating. I wish I could conclude this review with a recommendation to lodge elsewhere, but I have yet to find an exemplary motel or hotel in Estes Park. The infamous and overrated Stanley Hotel is not nearly as "active" as "ghost hunters" on TV would have tourists believe. The chains are all overpriced, and the mom-and-pop joints south of town are far too ramshackle. The best place is probably Best Western, but their rates have risen precipitously in recent years. Estes Park is a great place to visit, but the town needs better accommodations. *At least I am the first Yelper to reference "Nothing But Trouble," "Psycho," and Dario Argento's "Inferno" in a single review. Stay tuned for my next review, where I shall reference "Bloodsucking Freaks," "Night Train to Terror," and "Barn of the Naked Dead." read more

This place is appalling. My husband and I booked this place for our honeymoon and I wish I never knew this place existed. We booked one of their newly renovated rooms so everything should have been fine, but the owners clearly don't care about cleanliness. This place is dirty, disgusting, and they should be ashamed of themselves. The room was smelly and when we walked in, we noticed the blinds were messed up, so if we had the lights on at night someone could surely see in. So we thought we would use their towels for curtains since we brought our own towels. Their towels were STAINED. This prompted us to start looking around.... There was what seemed to be black mold in the bathroom which probably contributed to the smell. The toilet definitely had not been cleaned as there was someone's previous business and toilet paper sitting there waiting for me. Everything was FILTHY. The bed sheets had stains on them, the bathroom door and mirror had weird gross drippings/splatterings and schmutz on them. The kitchen stove was filthy. The bedside table and kitchen cabinets had clearly not been cleaned either. Honestly, they should be absolutely ashamed of the state of that room we were given, and ashamed of charging people a cleaning fee when they are too lazy and disgusting to clean. We probably stayed no more than two hours in that room before we ran screaming out of there. I left these people an email about the state of things and was ignored. I tried calling multiple times after our encounter but I have not been able to get a hold of them. They charged me a couple days ago, a month after our visit even after I emailed attempting to have them cancel and refund (refund the deposit and cleaning fee they initially charged back in Feb). They really, truly, should be ashamed and disgusted with themselves. I have never witnessed such filth in a lodge or hotel room. read more

Stay clear of this motel! We stayed during June 2023 and barely made it one night. We were unable to sleep due to the thin walls and old beds. There are no curtains in the motel rooms, only blinds and ours let all of the light from the road in. The thin walls were the worst part. I've read other reviews on here that mention the thin walls and, if you're a light sleeper, you will hear every grunt and snore that the neighbors make. What's worse is that if you visit during any of the ongoing road construction, you will hear every car that travels on the road, as there's a load metal grate in the street outside of the motel. The rooms are very small and bathrooms even smaller. Don't stay here expecting nice accommodations. This is a very poorly kept property in dire need of repairs. read more

I met both Randy and Ellen - the owners. Very nice folks. I stayed in a suite - #16 for three days. It was very convenient to the town and the park. Old furnishings but clean and comfortable. read more

Cannot say enough about how great this place is. It's very clean, the family who runs the lodge is wonderful to work with. It's right across the river from downtown, and backs up against the mountains... cabin #10 is stunning and has just been re modeled.. you can walk to anything downtown. The grounds of the resort has a hot tub, fountains, nice walkways, and lots of outdoor seating by the cabins.... it's so peaceful.. we were very pleased by how attentive the owners are... read more

This is a very nice little place to stay in Estes. Not too expensive. The curators are superb and and helpful. They will tell you the best place to dine (Rock Inn Mountain Tavern) and what you should order (Devil's on Horseback). The rooms are perfect for a comfortable romantic stay in the mountains, especially in the winter. They will crank-up the heat before you arrive so it's super comfy from the minute you walk in. My GF and I loved our weekend here and can't wait to do it again. read more

We were able to secure exactly what we needed at the last minute. The owners were so very friendly and welcoming. Ellen went above and beyond making us feel at home. We felt like we'd known them forever! Can't wait to go back. Matthew and Debbie from Georgia read more

If you are looking for an inexpensive, comfortable, and convenient place to stay, this is the one. Peter, Ellen, Nathan and Sarah are the best hosts and make you feel right at home. There is nothing fancy about this lodge but it's like you are staying at a friend's place. They have a common fire pit area for night bonfires and use of the grills. Rooms are clean yet do need some updating, however if they did update them it would cost you even more. I have stayed here twice and would certainly stay here again. Again, this is 5 stars because of the cost, convenience and the excellent family that operates it. You will be happy. read more

I stayed 2 nights with friends who were staying a week. Small, cozy, comfortable, clean. We had everything we needed. Our cabin was bear themed. The owners are very personable and accommodating. Nice commons area and parking. A short walk to shops and the river. Surprisingly quiet. I would stay again. read more

Absolutely love this place! The rooms are wonderful, fireplaces in several of them, and all the ones we have stayed at have kitchenettes which makes a healthy meal much easier. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and have always gone above and beyond to show us hospitality. Only reason we don't stay here every trip is because they do not take dogs. We understand the restriction, but have to stay somewhere else when we bring the dogs. read more

I can't say enough good things about Misty Mountain. I've been coming back to stay since 2011. When my husband and I got married in Rocky Mountain National Park in 2015, Misty Mountain was the obvious choice to stay for our wedding. The rooms and cabins are comfortable and the hospitality is incredible. Summer is fun because of the evening s'mores around the communal fire. However, I like winter best, because it's so nice warming up next to the wood-burning fireplaces or using the hot tub when it's cold out. I also love that the lodge is within walking distance to the main street. I've stayed at quite a few places in Estes Park, and Misty Mountain is hands down my favorite. read more

I don't know how all the rooms here weren't fully booked when I stayed here as this place is definitely one of the gems of Estes. Having lived in Estes Park a few years ago and recently staying at the MML for work, I can speak from experience that this place is quite a find. During our stay the staff were incredibly accommodating and kind in working with our unusual work situation and went beyond expectations to make us comfortable. The rooms were fully equipped, immaculately clean, the shower better than my one at home, and the hotel well equipped with various games, activities, fire pit, and hot tub. For its proximity to town and a fully stocked kitchen in Estes Park, the price can not be beat. We enjoyed the ability to walk down the street for a beer and some dinner while still being in a tranquil setting away from the main street and by the river. The value at MML is outstanding and I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Estes Park. read more

Location - right next to restaurants and shopping in the downtown. We stayed here for one night after hiking on the Rockies. The owner is super friendly and provided us a lot of information about the city. He also serves S'mores around a bonfire every evening to the guests. There are many parking spots available on the property. The room was small, old fashioned, but was very clean and had a home like feel to it. The towels and bedsheets were very clean and that is what I appreciate the most in a room. The stand in shower was small but the quality of the shower was amazing. The room came with a kitchen which had utensils. We did not cook, but used bowls for serving popcorn and heating water/milk. There was a huge fridge in the kitchen which looked brand new. The room was pretty clean and had all the essentials. Great quality soap bar was eco-friendly with lemon grass flavor. We plan to stay here when we visit Rockies again. read more

We stayed two nights and were very pleased with clean rooms and amenities. Peter and his family made you feel like you were family. We were visiting from California and would definitely stay here the next time we return to Colorado. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. read more

We had a great time in Estes Park and we were able to walk everywhere because of the great location of Misty Mountain! I wasn't sure what to expect as hubby made plans this time. Ya it's a little dated, surprisingly the bathroom was remodeled and very clean!!! The owners were super nice and that Ellen does NOT stop working! Even had walking sticks, umbrellas, games to use if you forgot yours. Our room was next to the office off the porch but wasn't loud like I thought it would be. Only problem they have is the parking. Others park in MML parking causing some expert driving to get in and out. We'll be back if we head back RMNP!! read more

My boyfriend and I having been traveling cross country and decided to stay at misty mountain lodge, luckily we were able to get the last room avaliable! The owner was extremely nice and inviting. The room was large and had a good size bathroom and a full kitchen. The price was better than what you pay for a single hotel room nearby. Unfortunately we missed out on their bonfire for the guests, the owner said her husband makes the best smores! If I go to estes park again, I would absolutely stay here again! read more

Had a great stay at MML during Memorial Day weekend with my brothers. MML was a great place to stage out of for our hikes to Gem Lake & Cub Lake. Rooms are large & beds are very comfy. Just watch your shins on the huge bed frame of logs. Fully-stocked kitchen was great for breakfast & making lunches. We ate out for dinner. Wireless worked great for our phones & other gadgets. Peter & Ellen loaned us rain gear & walking poles for our hikes. The rain gear was well needed. At night there were Smores (huge marshmallows with chocolate stuffed inside) at the firepit sitting around chatting with great people and listening to the river run 30 feet away. A great place to stay and wonderful people running the place. read more

A very nice place just off the main street in town, easy walking distance to everything in town. When we stayed here we didn't drive anywhere except when we went to RMNP. 6 of us stayed 3 nights in #20. The rooms were clean, modern, and roomy. Use the hot tub on the deck overlooking the town and mountains, it was the best view from a hot tub I have ever been in. The owners were great, friendly and inviting. They roasted marshmallows around the fire for the quests, great touch. Best location also, just 5 minute walk from downtown Estes, with the free shuttles once you park your car you would never need to get back into it until you leave. We have been to Estes many times and this was our first stay at Misty Mountain, from now on this will be the only place I will stay. read more
