This place is a perfect cabin experience and base camp for exploring Rocky Mountain National Park. The rooms are spacious with lots of amenities. The view out the back door alone is worth the price. Everything was clean when we arrived. The owners are as sweet as pie. I could have talked with Phil for hours. Because of his kindness and hospitality we are already planning on booking another stay next year. This place is a hidden gem and I am shouting it's praises from the rooftops.

    Fall river

The beauty of the river out back cannot be overstated. You walk out the backdoor right to it. The rooms are very well heated. The in-room spas available in certain rooms are great. The owners are kind. Very nice fire place in the room. you can walk along the river. Everything is very modern. My only complaint is i had to leave..

Had the most amazing stay here this weekend! Gorgeous property with amazing views, modern with a cozy cabin feel. The condo was super clean, not even 1 piece of dust could be seen. The amenities the property had were amazing balcony overlooking the river, outdoor riverside swing, bbq area, Fire Pit area, in the 1 bedroom suite it had a jetted tub, fully loaded kitchen, dining room, living room, fire place, TV with cable + channels, cozy lights around the living room area and patio, balcony overlooking the river with beautiful views and a table/chairs with lights set up. If you get lucky you might see Elk, Big Horn Sheep, Deer, etc. around the property. Perfect location within a few minutes of downtown and the east entrance of the Rocky Mountain National Park. I could go on and on. We will definitely be back, this is our new spot we will be staying at when we go to Estes Park. The pictures don't do justice on how beautiful this property is!

Had the most amazing stay. Staff is incredibly kind and helpful, the room was very clean and comfortable, the closeness to the park can't be beat. If we ever return to Estes this will be where we stay!

we read and read reviews and fell in love with this location but when we checked expedia and similar there were no rooms available the dates we were coming. I was heart broken. Luckily i called the phone number.and yes there were still a few openings. Book early don't miss out. The couple that own this location are friendly lovely people that put alot of of hard work and love into this place. This is an ideal location .. just past Estes and just before an entrance to the park. There is a little river (falls river) running through the front yard. It's pleasant to sit in the swing or the couple chairs provided and eat a meal or just sit listening to the river. I wish the road sounded didn't almost drown out the river sound. love that there is a large Jacuzzi tub and shower, The room was larger than our first apartment ..bed was fairly comfortable. glad it had small fridge and tiny freezer. the kitchen had some stuff .. not enough to cook but all we needed. they did give you a zip lock bag of ice if you ask but would have preferred an ice machine or ice trays in the room. There were a few glitches. The ceiling fan helped but the lack of ANY air conditioning was a problem for me. i am at that age ... i need a cool room to sleep at all. I had alot of trouble sleeping with the room too warm. i gather none of the hotels in this area have AC. The only other "issue" is stairs. you are either up stair or down stairs .. either way carrying your luggage up or down stairs. Luckily my husband carried it for me ... my luggage weighed a ton. We heard alot of noise from people above .. you might want to pick an upper room. Our wooden swing was broken. we stayed 3 nights here and that was a great stay. We didn't do much hiking so we saw alot in the 3 days .. lots of scenery, wildlife ect. I thought there would be elk actually at the hotel .. the 3 days .. we didn't see any at our hotel but lots at the park. Thanks to the lovely couple that run this place so well. i highly recommend staying here if you are in the area. Thanks for chap stick.. the dry air made our lips so dry. Glad we brought collapsible cooler. Drink lots of water!

The most beautiful place we stayed in 10 days. We got a spa room and it was awesome. Nice jacuzzi and fireplace. Very clean, family owned.

    Room with a view.

Awesome hotel, spacious rooms (we had the 2 bedroom suite) with lovely views of the creek. A resident Elk even welcomes you home from the front lawn. Very friendly staff/owners. Gave us a "Hallmark Movie" feeling. Charming, intimate feel. Very close to the national park entrance as well.

So, you say you'd like to stay in a quiet, peaceful place by a river, with nearby access to shopping, restaurants, and Rocky Mountain National Park, then we recommend Aspen Winds. Aspen Winds lies just west of Estes Park, off Fall River Road, just a few yards from restful Fall River, and a few miles from downtown. We stayed in one-bedroom unit 3, 3rd week in August. Owner-managers Phil and Dotty are on site, and are seasoned, welcoming and accommodating. The units are secure, well-kept, roomy, and attractive, with river views from the deck. Ceiling fans in living areas provide acceptable summer cooling. Fall and winter guests will enjoy the fireplace. The grounds are spacious and include ample parking, gazebo, outdoor grills, and seating by the river. For the sport-minded or casual observer, the river is routinely stocked, with numerous 10 to 12-inch trout seen feeding during our stay. So yes, we would encourage you to stay at Aspen Winds. Enjoy!

We had our wedding here on 8/30/20, not only was it the most beautiful and serene location, but the owners and staff are absolutely amazing! They made every part of our big day (and the days leading up too it) completely stress free and perfect. If you're thinking about getting married somewhere in the Rockies, you cannot go wrong with Aspen Winds on Fall River. We can't wait to return on our one year anniversary next year

Such a beautiful and tranquil place to stay. The owners are amazing. The rooms are immaculate and cozy and well stocked. Loved that they have chairs right by the river and the ability to use the bnqs and fire pit. We look forward to our next visit.

    The quaint office was charming.

The giant jacuzzi tub was nice, as was walking out from our patio onto the beautiful lawn right on the river.

The hotel is rich in history. Everywhere you look there is charm. We stayed in the "Cowboy Attic Suite". My mom immediately had an "experience". I heard a grandfather clock chime throughout our stay. I never saw one and forgot to ask where it was located. I love old clocks. My aunt had her own experience that woke her from her sleep. Everyone we encountered was nice and we appreciated the cander as we asked for their stories/experiences there. The bad....for what we paid, it was not worth it. The floor feels dirty. It is as though they have not thought to clean the carpets in quite some time. Under the bed is a nice layer of dust. The whole hotel could use a moist cloth and a good wipe down. The dust in the display cases throughout the hotel is obvious and off putting. We met Hannibal. Wish we would have booked the seance, but alas, we ran out of time. He was a hoot to talk to.

As everyone else has mentioned, the construction is a huge turn off! And absolutely no mention of it when you're booking your room. In addition, when I booked my room, I did not realize that I was booking it in the Aspire building. I thought that the Stanley hotel was one big hotel. I did not realize that there were different newer buildings. In the end, though, I am very happy that we are in the other building as what is being done at the original hotel is really offputting. The staff, however, were very nice and accommodating. Besides all of the construction, they have tours going on an hourly basis that are open to anyone who passes by, for a cost of $25+, of course and no discount for hotel guests. Those tourists who have not spent several hundred per night are all over the main lobby, dirtying up the carpet, wandering around the property with screaming kids, going up and down the stairwells, and elevator if it's running, just taking up space that should be reserved for guests!! Especially guests who are paying dearly for what they thought would be an old, elegant hotel experience. It is definitely not an elegant hotel anymore. It tries, a little, but is obviously too interested in making money off of tours rather than providing an exceptional experience for guests. I had envisioned myself sitting in that grand lobby reading a book with some tea. Impossible and wouldn't be pleasant if it was possible. Our room in the Aspire was nice, and the lobby, spa and gym facilities and the outdoor pool are very attractive and peaceful. But, again, some things just don't make sense. For instance, the lovely fireplace they have in the lobby is shut down at 8 PM when the desk agent goes home. I have been looking forward all day, to just sitting by that fireplace with a nice drink and reading my book. Seems like a normal expectation for a higher end hotel in the Colorado mountains. The pool area is nice, as is the steam room and gym. There are plenty of towels, tea and coffee and nice amenities. They need little tables out by the lounge chairs on the pool deck for people to set their drinks and things on instead of the ground. The beds, linens and pillows were great. There is no mini fridge in the room, no additional amenities in bathroom like Q tips, makeup remover wipes, etc... normal amenities offered in hotels of this price range and expected caliber. There is no full length mirror in the bedroom or in the bathroom and the mirror in the bathroom is so dimly lit it is impossible for a woman to see to put makeup on and no other mirror in the bedroom. They don't make up your room or refresh towels unless you specifically request it. I understand not changing out towels for ecological reasons, but when you are paying these kind of prices for a hotel room, someone should come in and make up your bed every day and tidy up and take the trash out. We're just one night in to our stay so we shall see how the rest goes. It has been pretty disappointing though.

It's a beautiful setting, but several issues impacted my experience. First, I felt the advertising was a bit misleading. I saw a pool listed on Orbitz, but I discovered there isn't a pool anywhere on the property. Instead, there are two above-ground hot tubs. I went to the one on the second level, but I found climbing the narrow metal stairs with wet feet to be a bit dangerous. I also noticed that the rooms are slightly dated and showing their age. In my room, the curtain rod was actually falling out of the wall, which told me they need to keep up with better maintenance. You should also know there is no lobby or front desk here; I just received a code via text message and entered it to get into my room. While efficient, it felt a bit impersonal. My biggest complaint, however, was the construction noise. I didn't realize they are currently expanding the inn and building two new buildings on the same lot. Unfortunately, my room was right next to the construction site, and I had to deal with loud noise all morning. I think this place has a lot of potential once the upgrades are done, but between the maintenance issues and the noise, I didn't find it to be the relaxing getaway I was hoping for.

So leading up to our stay I stayed in contact with the front desk Katie, letting her know it's our anniversary weekend and she was the sweetest. When I say this lady went above and beyond and didn't have to, she did! When we arrived, first off there is only 12 rooms, and each room has an actual key!! This place is literally nestled on a side of a mountain w other little resort around. The check in process was so cute. Katie checked us in gave us some yummy cookies and I even bought a cute 4seasons inn sticker to put on my car. The room we booked was a private suite w a private spa grill and seating area. There is seating area by the grill and by the spa. And it's also on the 2nd floor just an fyi if you're wheel chair bound or whatever limitations you may have. So we go into our room and she literally decorated the whole room for us for our anniversary and had a bottle of wine w two wine glasses and fire wood already in our room for us to start a fire. The room was VERY spacious. Has a kitchen that worked a full coffee maker. A good size fridge and the freezer worked amazing. The toiletries that come w the room smell just fantasists. The best morning I woke up to wild turkeys on the ground just gobbling away and elk and deer. There is a community grills and a spa and a few other amenities. The thing I love about this place is it's literally less than 5 mins from the National park and far enough away to be secluded but 8 mins from EVERYTHING in town. And in Estes park there is so much cramed in that town! I LOVED everything. Not a thing was bad about my whole stay.
