My wife and I spent our 40th anniversary at Aspen Winds. This is our second time there, and all we can say is AMAZING. Our room was absolutely perfect, I had some extras there for my wife as a surprise for her, and they hit it out of the park. The staff there is beyond friendly. This place is a perfect cabin experience and base camp for exploring Rocky Mountain National Park. The rooms are spacious with lots of amenities. The view out the back door alone is worth the price. Everything was clean when we arrived. The owners are as sweet as pie. I could have talked with Phil for hours. Had the most amazing stay here this weekend! Gorgeous property with amazing views, modern with a cozy cabin feel. The condo was super clean, not even 1 piece of dust could be seen. The amenities the property had were amazing balcony overlooking the river, outdoor riverside swing, bbq area, Fire Pit area, in the 1 bedroom suite it had a jetted tub, fully loaded kitchen, dining room, living room, fire place, TV with cable + channels, cozy lights around the living room area and patio, balcony overlooking the river with beautiful views and a table/chairs with lights set up. If you get lucky you might see Elk, Big Horn Sheep, Deer, etc. around the property. Perfect location within a few minutes of downtown and the east entrance of the Rocky Mountain National Park. We have enjoyed our stay here so much. The jetted tub has been so nice after long hikes. Spend the extra money and get the jetted tub. The fireplace is also great. The running river sound at night has been amazing. There are chairs and a table on the patio to sit and watch the river and also there are swings down closer to the river that have been great to see relax in after our hiking and downtown activities. The owner is extremely friendly and I'm confident will do anything he can to make your stay enjoyable. The room is clean, inviting, and comfortable and you can hear the river running at night making it super relaxing. I will stay here again when we come back. The place is also tucked away a bit from downtown so that is nice feeling like you're away from the crowds. Love this place! read more

we read and read reviews and fell in love with this location but when we checked expedia and similar there were no rooms available the dates we were coming. I was heart broken. Luckily i called the phone number.and yes there were still a few openings. Book early don't miss out. The couple that own this location are friendly lovely people that put alot of of hard work and love into this place. This is an ideal location .. just past Estes and just before an entrance to the park. There is a little river (falls river) running through the front yard. It's pleasant to sit in the swing or the couple chairs provided and eat a meal or just sit listening to the river. I wish the road sounded didn't almost drown out the river sound. love that there is a large Jacuzzi tub and shower, The room was larger than our first apartment ..bed was fairly comfortable. glad it had small fridge and tiny freezer. the kitchen had some stuff .. not enough to cook but all we needed. they did give you a zip lock bag of ice if you ask but would have preferred an ice machine or ice trays in the room. There were a few glitches. The ceiling fan helped but the lack of ANY air conditioning was a problem for me. i am at that age ... i need a cool room to sleep at all. I had alot of trouble sleeping with the room too warm. i gather none of the hotels in this area have AC. The only other "issue" is stairs. you are either up stair or down stairs .. either way carrying your luggage up or down stairs. Luckily my husband carried it for me ... my luggage weighed a ton. We heard alot of noise from people above .. you might want to pick an upper room. Our wooden swing was broken. we stayed 3 nights here and that was a great stay. We didn't do much hiking so we saw alot in the 3 days .. lots of scenery, wildlife ect. I thought there would be elk actually at the hotel .. the 3 days .. we didn't see any at our hotel but lots at the park. Thanks to the lovely couple that run this place so well. i highly recommend staying here if you are in the area. Thanks for chap stick.. the dry air made our lips so dry. My wife and I have stayed at Aspen Winds twice. Once for our 40th wedding anniversary and this past week for our 50th. It is awesome! It is located on the banks of the beautiful Fall River with the mountains as a backdrop. There are only 16 units, so there is plenty of privacy. The units are well maintained and tastefully decorated. Aspen Winds is only 2 miles from the Fall River entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park and is not as busy as the Beaver Meadows RMNP entrance on the other side of Estes Park. So, you say you'd like to stay in a quiet, peaceful place by a river, with nearby access to shopping, restaurants, and Rocky Mountain National Park, then we recommend Aspen Winds. We loved this little place in the woods! Nestled in the heart of Estes Park, right off the river, these little cabins are just adorable. They are spacious inside and have a jacuzzi tub for two--perfect for a romantic getaway! Windows look over the river from the jacuzzi if you want to open the blinds. Elk and deer come right up into the yard, as is evidenced by all the deer poop all over the yard. The cabins are very comfy. There is a small kitchenette with all the kitchen things you could need. The fireplace is easily turned on with a switch and is easy to use. We hope to come back here again! read more

This place was a delight and so were Phil and Dot (donna, someone else mentioned in another review). It felt like staying with family. They were so kind and hospitable and our room with the view of the creek was so comforting. We slept with the windows open (and even on the sofa bed - which was INSANELY comfortable). I highly recommend just going outside and sitting on the swinging benches and enjoying nature and feeling lucky to be in the company of such positive owners. It definitely was our sincere pleasure to stay in such comfortable accommodations with such delightful people. Another touch, that I appreciated was Phil immediately knowing who we were (we arrived at 6pm and likely were the last guests, but it didn't have that corporate, disgruntled feel - it was, like I said, like showing up at a family member's house that is thrilled to have you). Clean rooms, friendly welcome and beautiful view! Stayed here two nights and it's very close to the Falk River entrance to RMNP. It was convenient to drive the famous Trail River Road. Nice jetted tub in the room overlooking the river. It was closer to the road than we thought but I guess you can't change where the river is! Wasn't that noticeable could sometimes hear cars pass. It was beautiful drinking coffee on the little deck outside our room watching the sun shine on the fast moving river. Got to see some elk as we were leaving the property too! This place is charming... it is situated right next to Fall River right outside of the gates of Rocky Mountain National Park. What a beautiful area! There is a lush green lawn with quaint little wooden swings where the local elk hang out. It was incredible! Aspen Winds is just down a winding road from the town center... close enough to be convenient but far enough to be away from the crowds. The suites are roomy and has a kitchenette and a fire place which is so nice on those cool nights. Very lovely place to stay if you are visiting RMNP! read more

What a great place! Stayed 5 nights in ground floor suite right on Fall River. Well appointed. You can hear the traffic, but the sound of the river really drowns that noise out. Close to the north RMNP entrance. Great bed and loved the grey sheets instead of the normal white stiff ones. My unit had a little fridge, microwave, nice sink, dishes, etc., and a floor fan. Suite had an electric fireplace, big screen, very large jacuzzi tub and a little table and two chairs on the outside deck. I was greeted by two very large bull elk the morning of check out. They lunched on the grass and shrubs and then took a little nap! Staff is very nice and accommodating. Phil and Dottie are long time owners and they and their son are nice people! read more

This place is past town and all the uproar of people. It's almost right at the entrance to RMNP. There was little light pollution, you could see the stars! My condo was upstairs with a spectacular view of the river and a handsome bull elk. It was number 4, which has soaring ceilings, a nice kitchenette, comfy beds, a great deck with a chair and tables, casement windows and a gas fireplace with a rocking chair in front of it. Oh how I loved it. And the fellow at the front desk (I wish I'd gotten his name) was so friendly and caring. I mean, not just "I hope your room was nice" but actually friendly and caring, like the person you'd want to sit and hang out with. The parking lot is small, so get there early, especially if you have an oversized vehicle. I felt completely safe as a woman traveling alone. I will stay nowhere but there from now on. We really enjoyed our stay here. It was a quick weekend trip for a relaxing wilderness retreat. The place was clean, bed was comfortable, and had netflix. The back porch was nice to drink hot chocolate on and listen to the little creek. We got lucky that it snowed the first morning we were there. There were also mule deer grazing near the cabins. The jacuzzi tub was relaxing, especially when we opened the window to get some refreshing cool air so we didn't overheat in the tub. The aspen trees and the river behind our room were awesome! We had an elk hanging around quite a bit which added to the experience. Although the decor seemed a touch dated, the rooms were immaculately clean! I decided to give it the 'white glove' test and they passed with flying colors! Stayed here Labour day weekend 2012 and it was Great. Its located on fall river and has the best hosts. Extremely friendly, very well-kept rooms and outside areas. Clean kitchen and restrooms. We booked late and the guest suite was the only one available. Guest suite does not have a spa (wasnt imp to us) and is not exactly on the river, but a 100 ft away (again not an issue at all). Its the small things that get you, eco-toiletries, free netflix with the blue ray player, great shower operation (choose volume and temp separately, why do all showers not be as simple and friendly), and hosts make you feel like its home!!! I took the wife here for her birthday, a night away from the kids. We REALLY enjoyed our stay here, the owners are extremely nice and there were some real small things that I noticed to show they seemed to care and were honest. For example they have movies and such for you to view for free in the office, if you want a soda or bottle of water they only charge $0.50. Most places would charge at least triple that. I booked a spa suite, and they moved us from the one I booked to a different one on check in. No big deal, don't know if the one we got was better, worse or the same. First thing we noticed when walking in was exactly how clean the room was. WOW... there was just this glow of clean. I was impressed. The spa sits right at some big windows looking at the river going by, however unfortunately due to there being kids around and we weren't sure if people could see in we had to close the blinds when we were enjoying the spa. There is a gas fireplace in the room, that is very nice. We turned it on before we went out to dinner, and by the time we got back our room was HOT! So be careful with it. If it was a little warmer outside I would have opened the door/windows to cool it off - but it was in the teens so I didn't. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the little kitchenette as nice. There is no stove, but they do have a microwave, coffee pot (with at least enough coffee to make 1 pot), and a griddle if you want. Not enough to cook a meal, but enough to get you some coffee or re-heat something in the morning. They also have a TV with a blu-ray (could be just DVD but I think it was blu-ray) player that because they have wireless internet was connected and would let you connect to Netflix (didn't try) or Pandora, plus a few other options. Was very nice, as we made our own Pandora station and got to listen to music while relaxing in the spa. One small thing I noticed was different noises, during the night I would hear some knocking noises and creaking. When I sleep in a new place I notice all the little noises, they didn't bother my wife at all but they woke me up a number of times during the nite Also because the spa suites are downstairs we would hear walking once in a while from the upstairs guest and in the morning I think they were doing Zumba or something. This is a place that if we deiced to come back to Estes and stay over night that we will put at the top of our list. read more

Very nice location, right on the creek, and close to one of the park entrances. The staff was very accommodating but not intrusive. All safety protocols for the virus were in place, which actually increased privacy in exchange for fewer housekeeping services. The kitchenette in the room was functional, although a little tight. Upon arrival we ran into a few issues.. The bed wasn't fully made and the trash was full of beer from the previous customer. We were so excited to get there that we didn't let it bother us too bad. The price that I paid and specifically stating that it was a getaway for our anniversary, I was expecting to come into something cleaner and was a little bummed out that I ran into these issues. But the guy that checked us in really turned it around for us! This place is gorgeous and very welcoming. We will definitely come back but will be more cautious of the cleanliness next time. read more
