Still our favorite place to stay after 25 years of visiting Estes. The Columbine Cabins are quaint and clean. Located close to the entry of RMNP. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They are also dog-friendly. Already looking forward to our next trip!

McGregor Lodge was perfect! We stayed in 8B (Knotty Pine room) and I cannot overstate how much we enjoyed it. The location of the lodge is perfect - it is half a mile from the Fall River entrance to the park (and the visitor center), which made it so easy to run up to Sheep Lakes in the morning and dusk to check out the wildlife. And there is plenty of wildlife to see right from your window! Several bull elk were on the property one day lounging around. There is also a bird feeder in front of every cabin/room on the front side and it was so entertaining to watch all of the different species of birds (crows, magpies, finches, jays etc) along with bunnies and chipmunks. Our window was non stop busy and not to mention the beautiful mountain view! There's also two Adirondack chairs in front of the room and then you get your own personal picnic table across the way. We sat out there one night and looked at the stars and saw the Starlink satellite train go by. We loved our room - it was small, cozy, and decorated well with a cabin theme. The little stove warmed up the room nicely. We could hear some from our neighboring room but it wasn't too bad. Probably the biggest con was the very small (and cheap...) shower but it did get very hot and it did the job. I really appreciated that lip balm was included in the toiletries! The cookies were absolutely delicious and I kept asking my husband to ride me up to the office to grab some more lol. This is definitely the place we will stay again once back in Estes! We had to switch hotels halfway into our trip due to availability and were sooo sad to leave McGregor.

Visited in August 2024. Better than great! We fell in love with McGregor Mountain Lodge the moment we walked in and can not wait to go back there to stay. The cleanliness above all was AMAZING, and did not go unnoticed by us!!! Crisp white sheets, comfortable bed and white towels, the staff are out of this world helpful and nice. The Kurig Coffee maker and coffees, soaps, hairdryer, and movie rentals and cookies at front desk are such a thoughtful touch. You can really tell it is a well-loved place by the owners. The landscaping workers, welcome check-in, the hanging baskets, bird feeders, hummingbirds, bunnies, magpies, Steller Jays, and views of Deer Mountain are the icing on top. Looking forward to our next visit to the area, without a doubt we will be staying at McGregor Mountain Lodge.

Accommodations: lovely individual cabin with fireplace, screened windows, and porch to watch the birds and enjoy mountain breezes. Kitchen included stove, oven, microwave, fridge. Cozy living area with recliners. Amenities: cabin was stocked for the kitchen and bathroom, and we had our own picnic table and grill. Service: great front desk service and always available. Reserved the hot tub (sanitized between guests) and bought a s'mores kit for the fire pit. Location: a little outside of town nestled in the mountains and close to the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park.

Wonderful place to stay, The cabins are adorable. Like a tiny house. The small kitchen is well appointed. There is a small gas fireplace that heats the place, It's perfectly quaint and cozy. There is also a full size coffee maker - so bring your favorite coffee! The views are pretty wonderful as well. the staff is friendly and accommodating. My only tip would be, if you don't want to hear your neighbors talking, do not rent cabin 8A or 8B. The wall is paper thin and you can hear every word they are saying not to mention the TV. I want to go back in the spring, and next time I will rent a single cabin. Lesson learned.

This place is so amazing, especially in the Winter!

It was such a blessing to stay at the McGregor Mountain Lodge. My absolute FAVORITE part was seeing the animals everyday! We were greeted by several of the owners/workers friendly dogs, which always made our day! My husband and I don't even considerate ourselves "dog people", but their dogs were so sweet and well behaved! We also had the privilege of seeing two of the resident elks: Brat & Sven. I was SO SAD to hear that Brat the Elk (longtime resident Elk @ McGregor) had passed away just a couple weeks after we left :( We felt so fortunate to encounter him - such a beautiful gentle giant. If you go, you should still be able to encounter NEW 1st-string resident Elk, Sven :) The staff here is so wonderful, friendly, accommodating and laid-back. It immediately feels like they are your friends! The decor in the cabin we stayed in was a bit dated, but I guess that's part of the fun of staying in CABIN! ;) Our favorite feature was the fireplace! The only reason I would perhaps give McGregor a 4.5 is because the bedroom got quite cold at night, since the heater was in the main room/living room...but I've talked to others who stayed at other lodges and they said it was the same for them, so I guess that's pretty normal. They did keep a bunch of extra blankets & pillows in the closet so we could cozy up! And they provided lots of firewood! ;) We miss McGregor Mountain Lodge and can't wait to visit again!!!

Great location - very close to Rocky Mountain National Park as well as a quick drive into downtown Estes Park. The staff at McGregor are the best. Very knowledgeable about hiking, camping, backpacking, photography, etc in the area. Reasonable, competitive rates. Wildlife viewing within the property. Great views. Playground on property for the kiddos. Stocked kitchens. Comfortable quarters. Wi-Fi. Good TV channel selections. Cozy fireplaces. Hot tub. Game room in clubhouse.

Really enjoyed the cabins! I was with a group that rented 3 cabins. Staff was so friendly giving tips about wildlife and giving us cookies! There was even an elk that hangs around on the property, his name is Brat. Very clean. No complaints at all.

    Brat the elk at lodge!

The hotel is rich in history. Everywhere you look there is charm. We stayed in the "Cowboy Attic Suite". My mom immediately had an "experience". I heard a grandfather clock chime throughout our stay. I never saw one and forgot to ask where it was located. I love old clocks. My aunt had her own experience that woke her from her sleep. Everyone we encountered was nice and we appreciated the cander as we asked for their stories/experiences there. The bad....for what we paid, it was not worth it. The floor feels dirty. It is as though they have not thought to clean the carpets in quite some time. Under the bed is a nice layer of dust. The whole hotel could use a moist cloth and a good wipe down. The dust in the display cases throughout the hotel is obvious and off putting. We met Hannibal. Wish we would have booked the seance, but alas, we ran out of time. He was a hoot to talk to.

As everyone else has mentioned, the construction is a huge turn off! And absolutely no mention of it when you're booking your room. In addition, when I booked my room, I did not realize that I was booking it in the Aspire building. I thought that the Stanley hotel was one big hotel. I did not realize that there were different newer buildings. In the end, though, I am very happy that we are in the other building as what is being done at the original hotel is really offputting. The staff, however, were very nice and accommodating. Besides all of the construction, they have tours going on an hourly basis that are open to anyone who passes by, for a cost of $25+, of course and no discount for hotel guests. Those tourists who have not spent several hundred per night are all over the main lobby, dirtying up the carpet, wandering around the property with screaming kids, going up and down the stairwells, and elevator if it's running, just taking up space that should be reserved for guests!! Especially guests who are paying dearly for what they thought would be an old, elegant hotel experience. It is definitely not an elegant hotel anymore. It tries, a little, but is obviously too interested in making money off of tours rather than providing an exceptional experience for guests. I had envisioned myself sitting in that grand lobby reading a book with some tea. Impossible and wouldn't be pleasant if it was possible. Our room in the Aspire was nice, and the lobby, spa and gym facilities and the outdoor pool are very attractive and peaceful. But, again, some things just don't make sense. For instance, the lovely fireplace they have in the lobby is shut down at 8 PM when the desk agent goes home. I have been looking forward all day, to just sitting by that fireplace with a nice drink and reading my book. Seems like a normal expectation for a higher end hotel in the Colorado mountains. The pool area is nice, as is the steam room and gym. There are plenty of towels, tea and coffee and nice amenities. They need little tables out by the lounge chairs on the pool deck for people to set their drinks and things on instead of the ground. The beds, linens and pillows were great. There is no mini fridge in the room, no additional amenities in bathroom like Q tips, makeup remover wipes, etc... normal amenities offered in hotels of this price range and expected caliber. There is no full length mirror in the bedroom or in the bathroom and the mirror in the bathroom is so dimly lit it is impossible for a woman to see to put makeup on and no other mirror in the bedroom. They don't make up your room or refresh towels unless you specifically request it. I understand not changing out towels for ecological reasons, but when you are paying these kind of prices for a hotel room, someone should come in and make up your bed every day and tidy up and take the trash out. We're just one night in to our stay so we shall see how the rest goes. It has been pretty disappointing though.

It's a beautiful setting, but several issues impacted my experience. First, I felt the advertising was a bit misleading. I saw a pool listed on Orbitz, but I discovered there isn't a pool anywhere on the property. Instead, there are two above-ground hot tubs. I went to the one on the second level, but I found climbing the narrow metal stairs with wet feet to be a bit dangerous. I also noticed that the rooms are slightly dated and showing their age. In my room, the curtain rod was actually falling out of the wall, which told me they need to keep up with better maintenance. You should also know there is no lobby or front desk here; I just received a code via text message and entered it to get into my room. While efficient, it felt a bit impersonal. My biggest complaint, however, was the construction noise. I didn't realize they are currently expanding the inn and building two new buildings on the same lot. Unfortunately, my room was right next to the construction site, and I had to deal with loud noise all morning. I think this place has a lot of potential once the upgrades are done, but between the maintenance issues and the noise, I didn't find it to be the relaxing getaway I was hoping for.

When I say this lady went above and beyond and didn't have to, she did! When we arrived, first off there is only 12 rooms, and each room has an actual key!! This place is literally nestled on a side of a mountain w other little resort around. The check in process was so cute. Katie checked us in gave us some yummy cookies and I even bought a cute 4seasons inn sticker to put on my car. The room we booked was a private suite w a private spa grill and seating area. There is seating area by the grill and by the spa. And it's also on the 2nd floor just an fyi if you're wheel chair bound or whatever limitations you may have. So we go into our room and she literally decorated the whole room for us for our anniversary and had a bottle of wine w two wine glasses and fire wood already in our room for us to start a fire. The room was VERY spacious. Has a kitchen that worked a full coffee maker. A good size fridge and the freezer worked amazing. The toiletries that come w the room smell just fantasists. The best morning I woke up to wild turkeys on the ground just gobbling away and elk and deer. There is a community grills and a spa and a few other amenities. The thing I love about this place is it's literally less than 5 mins from the National park and far enough away to be secluded but 8 mins from EVERYTHING in town. And in Estes park there is so much cramed in that town! I LOVED everything. Not a thing was bad about my whole stay.
