This was a fabulous place. We were able to get in during the busy season. We stayed in one of the one room upper chalets. It was perfect. When we arrived, we were greeted by a kindly gentleman who efficiently checked us in. Then offered home made chocolate chip cookies! Yum. We entered an extremely clean cabin. With full kitchen, fireplace (one bundle of wood provided, more for purchase) An easy chair that my husband claimed immediately. We felt right at home. Our balcony had stunning views. And a small area to BBQ to boot. We slept very comfortable. No complaints about the bed. It was perfect. And they had extra pillows. We didn't need to ask. The next morning we woke up to deer having breaking right at our BBQ area. We watched from our window. It was beautiful. So peaceful. So beautiful. Checkout was fast. No issues. This will be our go to place. We are already thinking about spend one of their Christmas holiday packages there. It sounds amazing. read more

Been back several times since then and always a great experience. Now under new ownership/management they have stepped up and improved things! New modern shower heads, new kurig coffee, potted flowers everywhere and well tended, every unit has a hummingbird feeder (lots of the little guys!) and housekeeping is doing better than great in keeping the units clean (sheets are crisp!). We'll continue coming here on our park visits! read more

Will not be returning to McGregor Mountain Lodge. Management needs to be much more attentive to routine operations. I'll just mention one thing to keep it short.: the water in the hot tub was cloudy, which is a sign of possible bacteria growth, a very unhealthy situation. I asked the front desk guy with the "AR-15 come and get it" T-shirt when the last time the water chemistry was checked and he replied "I have no idea." Unacceptable. read more

Still our favorite place to stay after 25 years of visiting Estes. The Columbine Cabins are quaint and clean. Located close to the entry of RMNP. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They are also dog-friendly. Already looking forward to our next trip! read more

McGregor Lodge was perfect! We stayed in 8B (Knotty Pine room) and I cannot overstate how much we enjoyed it. The location of the lodge is perfect - it is half a mile from the Fall River entrance to the park (and the visitor center), which made it so easy to run up to Sheep Lakes in the morning and dusk to check out the wildlife. And there is plenty of wildlife to see right from your window! Several bull elk were on the property one day lounging around. There is also a bird feeder in front of every cabin/room on the front side and it was so entertaining to watch all of the different species of birds (crows, magpies, finches, jays etc) along with bunnies and chipmunks. Our window was non stop busy and not to mention the beautiful mountain view! There's also two Adirondack chairs in front of the room and then you get your own personal picnic table across the way. We sat out there one night and looked at the stars and saw the Starlink satellite train go by. We loved our room - it was small, cozy, and decorated well with a cabin theme. The little stove warmed up the room nicely. We could hear some from our neighboring room but it wasn't too bad. Probably the biggest con was the very small (and cheap...) shower but it did get very hot and it did the job. I really appreciated that lip balm was included in the toiletries! The cookies were absolutely delicious and I kept asking my husband to ride me up to the office to grab some more lol. This is definitely the place we will stay again once back in Estes! We had to switch hotels halfway into our trip due to availability and were sooo sad to leave McGregor. read more

Accommodations: lovely individual cabin with fireplace, screened windows, and porch to watch the birds and enjoy mountain breezes. Kitchen included stove, oven, microwave, fridge. Cozy living area with recliners. Amenities: cabin was stocked for the kitchen and bathroom, and we had our own picnic table and grill. Service: great front desk service and always available. Reserved the hot tub (sanitized between guests) and bought a s'mores kit for the fire pit. Location: a little outside of town nestled in the mountains and close to the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. read more

McGregor Mountain Lodge - View from the cabin - Hotels Near Me - Estes Park, Colorado

New Management - Bad Business I used to love holding my art workshops at McGregor, along with 6 students, all booking separate cabins for five straight years. When I could not hold my 2022 workshop due to low attendance, I elected, per their contract, to rollover my deposit from 2022 to a 2023 workshop. McGregor's contract stated that I had the option to either rollover that deposit until another time, which I booked right away for 2023, or they would credit my deposit back to me, minus $100 processing fees. When my workshop was cancelled again in 2024 due to poor health, I called the office asking to cancel my reservation and credit my deposit, minus their rightful $100. They refused. By then they were under new owner/management. The previous owners would have honored their contract and credited my balance. The language in the original and rollover contract was clear, the terms were identical. The new owners offered no reason that they would not credit my deposit - except to say they would not. I also know they re-booked my cabin and that of a student who also lost her deposit of over $1000. Not only will I never do business again with McGregor's new owners Patrick and Teresa Commerford, but numerous friends, students I brought there, as well as others I've talked to about this vowed to never stay there again. Bad business in a day when there is so much competition and numerous options, it would have gone a long way to just credit my $414 and my student's loftier deposit. read more

Visited in August 2024. Better than great! We fell in love with McGregor Mountain Lodge the moment we walked in and can not wait to go back there to stay. The cleanliness above all was AMAZING, and did not go unnoticed by us!!! Crisp white sheets, comfortable bed and white towels, the staff are out of this world helpful and nice. The Kurig Coffee maker and coffees, soaps, hairdryer, and movie rentals and cookies at front desk are such a thoughtful touch. You can really tell it is a well-loved place by the owners. The landscaping workers, welcome check-in, the hanging baskets, bird feeders, hummingbirds, bunnies, magpies, Steller Jays, and views of Deer Mountain are the icing on top. Looking forward to our next visit to the area, without a doubt we will be staying at McGregor Mountain Lodge. read more

Wonderful place to stay, The cabins are adorable. Like a tiny house. The small kitchen is well appointed. There is a small gas fireplace that heats the place, It's perfectly quaint and cozy. There is also a full size coffee maker - so bring your favorite coffee! The views are pretty wonderful as well. the staff is friendly and accommodating. My only tip would be, if you don't want to hear your neighbors talking, do not rent cabin 8A or 8B. The wall is paper thin and you can hear every word they are saying not to mention the TV. I want to go back in the spring, and next time I will rent a single cabin. Lesson learned. read more

It was such a blessing to stay at the McGregor Mountain Lodge. My absolute FAVORITE part was seeing the animals everyday! We were greeted by several of the owners/workers friendly dogs, which always made our day! My husband and I don't even considerate ourselves "dog people", but their dogs were so sweet and well behaved! We also had the privilege of seeing two of the resident elks: Brat & Sven. I was SO SAD to hear that Brat the Elk (longtime resident Elk @ McGregor) had passed away just a couple weeks after we left :( We felt so fortunate to encounter him - such a beautiful gentle giant. If you go, you should still be able to encounter NEW 1st-string resident Elk, Sven :) The staff here is so wonderful, friendly, accommodating and laid-back. It immediately feels like they are your friends! The decor in the cabin we stayed in was a bit dated, but I guess that's part of the fun of staying in CABIN! ;) Our favorite feature was the fireplace! The only reason I would perhaps give McGregor a 4.5 is because the bedroom got quite cold at night, since the heater was in the main room/living room...but I've talked to others who stayed at other lodges and they said it was the same for them, so I guess that's pretty normal. They did keep a bunch of extra blankets & pillows in the closet so we could cozy up! And they provided lots of firewood! ;) We miss McGregor Mountain Lodge and can't wait to visit again!!! read more

This place is really nice. Cabins are warm and cozy, beds and furniture are comfortable. We cooked spaghetti in the mini kitchen, had all we needed. Front desk staff is very kind and accommodating. Great friendly service. Bridgett at the front desk is very sweet and friendly. Only reason I didn't rate 5 stars, because of their late check out policy. Check out is 11:00. Asked if we could stay a couple hours later to watch a basketball game and was told it was $25/hr to stay past 11:00. I've stayed at 5 star resorts and hotels and have never been charged for a later check out. That shocked me. Wouldn't keep me from coming back but definitely a bit extreme. $10/hr would make sense but $50 for two hours? Overall a great place to stay in Estes Park and world Recommend read more

I have been coming to Estes Park for the past nine years and McGregor Mountain Lodge is the most incredible place to stay! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The views are simply breathtaking and it's right near RMNP. In the summertime, the flowers are in full bloom and the birds and other critters are keeping you entertained! I will never stay anywhere else in Estes Park and recommend you go stay for your self very soon! You will be amazed!!! read more

Please do not rely on these fake reviews. This is my third time writing review for this lodge. The owners somehow blocks my first email and delete my reviews on google-reviews. Please avoid this place. Yes the location is beautiful but the owner/manager does not know how to behave with guests. She is very greedy, impolite and not flexible. If you ask for 30 mins late checkout she will become angry and you have to pay 25 dollar for every 30 mins late after 11 am. She sent a guy standing to your room until you get out. You have to pay for everything. They are not available from 5 pm to 8 am. If you need anything meantime you have to wait. Hope they do not block this email and this review and my review could save you. read more

We stayed in the Columbine Cottage (#4), and it was the second time we visited. They are great! What I love is that they allow dogs, but you don't hear barking dogs. It's a haven! Dogs that are so well behaved, and their are several dogs that are McGregors mascots. Sweetest babies and listen so well!! It's the perfect little mountain cottage. It's cozy, and has everything you need. Bring up food and make your own meals in the kitchenette or while out enjoying Estes, try some of the pet friendly restaurants! It was a great relaxing weekend. Next time we are coming up with friends and renting out The Cedar Lodge Suites! read more

On the pricier side, but such a relaxing place! You'll be surrounded by many kinds of birds, due to their bird feeders. There's also elk and deer that visit often, a wood burning fireplace, a hot tub (didn't have the chance to use it, but it's indoors), and the kitchen which was nicely stocked. There's cookies and coffee/tea in the lobby. The location is very close to the North entrance of RMNP, which is really convenient. read more

Stayed in the Heather Cottage recently and it was quite comfortable. The location of this property is great, right outside Rocky Mountain National Park and a short drive to downtown Estes Park. The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The cottage itself was sparkling clean, everything was in working order and it was the perfect size for two people. Couple of points: The entrance to the Lodge shares a driveway off the highway with the Wildwood Inn, so when you see signs for the Wildwood, that's your turn as well. The interior roads are paved at the lodge and there is ample parking. The units are not quite as spaced apart as the map would lead one to believe, however we did not hear another soul the whole time we were there. The Heather Cottage faces the playground and you get a glimpse of the highway but do not hear it. The staff did come by daily to ensure we had everything that we needed. This is not a full service hotel, do not expect to have fresh towels daily and your bed made up. If you want that, they offer a service where you can pay for it. We did not expect those things so it was not a big deal for us, but others may have expectations that this is a hotel so I thought I'd share that bit of information. I lean more toward 3 1/2 stars for this review, but that's not an option so I'll round up. McGregor Mountain Lodge is a lovely place to stay and if in the area I would consider staying there again. read more

We were lucky enough to book a room over Memorial day weekend! I am very picky about where I stay with my family, all I can say is WOW! I wish I could give them more stars, don't hesitate to book with them, wonderful experience! read more

We stayed in Pinion Cottage in early May and it was awesome! We fell in love with the place and plan to return in mid-October. There was another review that claimed the positive reviews are fake. This one's not! The staff was as friendly and accommodating as can be and Loki, the dog is completely adorable! There were bird feeders right outside the living room picture window. We saw hummingbirds, magpies, cardinals, and some that I couldn't even name. It's close to downtown Estes and located right in front of the entrance to RMNP. The kitchen didn't have a teapot but Lacy at the front desk promptly provided me with one. It was such a great stay that we plan on making this our regular lodging from this point forward! We loved having the fireplace and we made smores. FYI-It's not fancy and modern but it was clean an well appointed and the privacy was a really nice change from a big hotel. We sat out on the porch in the evenings which was fun all byitself and I LOVED the jetted tub! Also, there is a Safeway in Estes Park if you forget to bring everything you need. It's a good place to get eggs and other things that may not travel so well. Great place to stay! read more

Honestly, more than I'd normally pay, but worth it. Free cookies, private hot tub, wood burning fireplace, 'nuf said!

In love with this place. The owners are amazingly accommodating as are the cabins. Very clean and very cozy. I highly recommend it.

Amazing staff, location, well kept facility, and the homemade cider and cookies were amazing I would highly recommend to anyone

We found McGregor through a recommendation from a friend. Their recommendation was excellent. The cabins here are spotless and comfortable. The staff is the best. Once I complained that a shower head was a little erratic. Michael one of the owners replaced it within the hour. The local wild life is the local wildlife. It is like living in a zoo for all the birds, elk, deer, chipmunks, foxes, and bighorn sheep, too. There is no pool but the hot tube is nice. We often go in March to do snowshoe hiking. They have everything we need to do that. If you get snowed in, put some wood in the fireplace and relax. Complete kitchens help. read more

Stayed in the "Fall River Run Chateau" with a large family. The cabin itself is very nice - A+ quality, good location, and INCREDIBLE view from the 2-tier balcony. For those who can't survive well without WiFi, the connectivity is sub-par (not factored into the stars for this review though). There are 2 wireless routers, both sitting right next to each other up in the guest house, which end up providing somewhat poor reception for most of the cabin. The cabin is pretty well furnished, though the downstairs beds are arranged poorly. One of the rooms (seems like a room designed for a couple) only has a full-size bed that's ridiculously high off the ground. There are also 2 queen size beds oddly squeezed into a hallway-size living room area. The staff were very polite and kind while we were there, but on the day of our scheduled departure things turned a little south. There was no prior-communicated "check-out time" expected of us early in the morning, and we didn't leave until almost noon. The staff ended up rushing us out, as they had booked a new arrival that afternoon with very little time in between. This also became a problem for them when it came time to clean up and prepare the cabin for the next arrival. There was no massive mess, and no physical damage to anything - only some uneaten food left in the cabinets, some cleaned dishes that weren't put away, and a bed that was moved to another room (queen size, moved from hallway-size living area to use in place of the extra-high full size). All of this would have taken us no more than 15-30min to put completely back in place if we thought it was any kind of problem for them, but we didn't bother since they were rushing us out. Then after we had left, they call us complaining about the state that things were left in, and stated that they were going to keep our $500 deposit to cover having to "bring in 4 extra hands" to clean and turn-around the cabin for the next arrival. I'd love to stay in this cabin again, but never under the current management. read more

This place is an icon in Estes Park. This is the first time I've stayed there, and it couldn't have been better. Wonderful location, super friendly and helpful staff. The cabins are very clean and comfortable and have woodsy charm. The kitchens have everything you need. Hide-a-bed was comfortable. For the rates, I cannot think of another place in Estes that is better. They even welcome pets in some of the cabins. Quick access to the Fall River entrance of RMNP, and a gorgeous view from the cabin porch. Adirondack chairs on the porch, BBQ grills and picnic tables all around.
