River next to the Inn

I stayed here recently and have no complaints. I loved having a fireplace in the room, and it had all of the amenities that we needed. I stayed in room 2, and the ceiling fan was broken, however, the guy at the front desk brought us a floor fan so we were happy. We used the hot tub every night we were there, and were very impressed with how quiet the entire area was, even with no vacancy. We were a late arrival and the hosts were nice enough to leave the key and instructions for us. The water pressure was great, and the complimentary conditioner and shampoo smelled great. We also loved the turkey visitors each morning. Would definitely stay here again if I'm the area.

Absolutely wonderful experience! The hosts were beyond nice and the location was great! They are just down the street from the rear entrance to the RMNP which took us less than 5min to enter vs 30min through the front entrance. The room was comfortable, the grounds were gorgeous and the river is so calming! We saw elk and turkeys alarmist every day and just has a wonderful time.

We just came back from a girls trip to Colorado. We went to enjoy Bigfoot Days in Estes Park. My…read moremom & aunt thought it would be fun to have a spooky experience. The hotel is rich in history. Everywhere you look there is charm. We stayed in the "Cowboy Attic Suite". My mom immediately had an "experience". I heard a grandfather clock chime throughout our stay. I never saw one and forgot to ask where it was located. I love old clocks. My aunt had her own experience that woke her from her sleep. Everyone we encountered was nice and we appreciated the cander as we asked for their stories/experiences there. The bad....for what we paid, it was not worth it. The floor feels dirty. It is as though they have not thought to clean the carpets in quite some time. Under the bed is a nice layer of dust. The whole hotel could use a moist cloth and a good wipe down. The dust in the display cases throughout the hotel is obvious and off putting. We met Hannibal. Wish we would have booked the seance, but alas, we ran out of time. He was a hoot to talk to.

Usually, we love staying at the The Stanley Hotel. The staff is always delightful and brings a…read moresmile to your face. Unfortunately, our Mother's Day weekend stay (May 9-11) was a miss. The entire outside of the hotel is torn up and under construction. There are very few parking spots available, and they are not reserved for hotel guests. We had to park at the Aspire Hotel and walk all of our luggage and belongings up to check in. We stayed in Room 215, which becomes extremely hot in warm weather because the sun sets directly on that side of the hotel (see photos provided). Since the hotel was built in 1909, there is no A/C. When we spoke with the front desk, we were told that once the sun set and temperatures dropped, opening the windows should cool the room down. Unfortunately, the room only cooled from 82 degrees to 79 degrees, and we could not sleep comfortably. Sunday morning, we requested a fan, and a box fan was delivered. Sunday night, the room finally cooled to 74 degrees -- but not until around 5 a.m. Paying $400 per night to be that uncomfortable was very disappointing. We recommend not staying at the hotel until construction is complete. If visiting during warmer months, make sure your room faces the front side of the hotel to avoid the intense afternoon and evening heat The bright spot of the stay was the staff at the restaurants and coffee shop, who were wonderful as always.

Absolutely recommend My partner made a reservation there…read morefor us for a surprise birthday trip, and I was very surprised. Close to downtown, beautiful nature sounds, easy to find, lovely room with a view to the river. We didn't really get any customer service experience since they give you a code for your door instead of a key card. Can't comment too much on that. The room was great, it had cups for water and coffee, plates, cutlery, a cutting board, and toaster, a fridge and well equipped for a short stay where you can bring your own snacks/food. Had a lovely time there.

It's a beautiful setting, but several issues impacted my experience. First, I felt the advertising was a bit misleading. I saw a pool listed on Orbitz, but I discovered there isn't a pool anywhere on the property. Instead, there are two above-ground hot tubs. I went to the one on the second level, but I found climbing the narrow metal stairs with wet feet to be a bit dangerous. I also noticed that the rooms are slightly dated and showing their age. In my room, the curtain rod was actually falling out of the wall, which told me they need to keep up with better maintenance. You should also know there is no lobby or front desk here; I just received a code via text message and entered it to get into my room. While efficient, it felt a bit impersonal. My biggest complaint, however, was the construction noise. I didn't realize they are currently expanding the inn and building two new buildings on the same lot. Unfortunately, my room was right next to the construction site, and I had to deal with loud noise all morning. I think this place has a lot of potential once the upgrades are done, but between the maintenance issues and the noise, I didn't find it to be the relaxing getaway I was hoping for.
