We were very happy with our accommodations. It is conveniently located off the main road but was very quiet. Downtown is not even a mile away. We were originally given room 103 but they honored my request to be moved to room 404 further away from the lobby and had better views of the surrounding mountains. The room had 2 generous queen beds along with soft fluffy pillows. The rustic furniture was made of real wood and comfortable. The bathroom though was a bit small. The room was clean. The front person, Miles was very pleasant and helpful. There was s'mores and popcorn in the lobby at night. The outside grills were not available due to warnings of high fire alert in the area. The hotel had an outdoor pool, playground, laundry room, and a waterfall over rocks in the front. Ample free parking lot. I would give this a 5 star rating but the breakfast was a disappointment. I realized that the it was a cold buffet but food was limited and not the best quality. Other than that, I would definitely come back again. read more

This was an exceptional place to stay. Loved the fact we had a back door to s shared patio. We didn't happen to have any neighbors next-door when we were there. Our room was on the second floor offering us a perfect view of the lake with ducks gliding a crossed it. Our dog, Nani absolutely loved it!!! It was prime covid when we were there so none of the amenities were available. I do believe I grabbed a cup of coffee in the lobby the day we left. This hotel is so close to town and options were to either walk or drive. Many, Many shops and restaurants close by! Clean and plenty of room. A sitting area over by the windows offered us even more in the way of a view. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. One thing you need to be aware of is that only some of their rooms are pet friendly so don't count on them having one, call ahead and confirm so you won't be disappointed! The hotel is not bad for the price. The beds were soft and comfy. The room was clean and had a cabin type feel. You could hear the people above but not as bad as many places I've stayed in the past. The breakfast was ok. I do not ever expect much when free breakfast is offered so I wasn't disappointed. It's nice to have a little starter in the mornings to help save some money and save having to stop for coffee and breakfast. The girl working the desk last evening for our late checkin was super nice and friendly. I wish we could have enjoyed the pool but we had places to explore. The pool was super steamy in the morning showing off it's heated water. I really liked having the first floor and our vehicle right outside our room. I would stay here again especially for the price. This was my first time in Estes so we kinda just shopped around online. The staff was super friendly and helpful! The view from the hotel was great. I needed to change rooms in the middle of the night and the on call staff member Bridget was so so understanding and sweet, I know I would not have been that nice if someone woke me up at 1am. She came over right away and got me situated and made sure the hotel manager Enrique took good care of me for the rest of the trip, which he did. I'm confident in saying this is the cutest hotel I've been to! We were so relieved when they got us a room with very little notice (must have been our lucky day). We were in Estes Park without a room and they graciously held our bags for us and also called us hours early that our room was ready. The room itself was perfect for our little family of 5 (children ages 7,6& 3). They accommodated us with one extra rollaway bed that was set up before even entering our room. The room itself was extremely clean and also smelled nice! The furniture was warm and inviting, the beds were comfortable, and sheets were soft. It had everything we needed to make our stay with children easy (a mini fridge, microwave, and bathtub). The property itself was awesome! So clean and well maintained. They have a great playground our kids enjoyed playing on with flashlights late into the evening while we gathered around their fire pit and got to know others staying here as well. They have s'mores set up nightly, which our children LOVED! They also have an outside jacuzzi. Hotel Estes offers a continental breakfast in their adorable lobby (Starbucks coffee, bagels, oatmeal and cereals, yogurt, juice, hardboiled eggs, sweet danishes and more). The way they have everything set up is inviting and cozy. You can gather around and play board games. You can rent out movies and DVD players. It's pretty sweet! More than anything, the two guys who work here, Dylan and (didn't catch the others name) are accommodating, personable, and kind! We were visiting estes park during the 4th of july holiday and there were no vacation rentals available whatsoever! So we ended up staying at hotel estes. I have to say that i wasn't excited about my stay. But i left with a very positive experience. - It was very close to the beautiful downtown area, yet was quieter. - The on-site amenities were all great: clean pool / hot tub, bunch of play areas for the kids, a firepit available every night, easy parking. The breakfast, though basic, was great. I especially liked their lobby where the breakfast was served, with big windows letting in the gorgeous morning sun, just perfect to wake you up. Although the complimentary bottled water they advertised everywhere was not available anymore, they had a water fountain in the lobby where we could fill our bottles everyday. - The staff was courteous and friendly. - Loved the window in the shower area, so rare in hotels. This hotel looks amazing but leaves you staying in feces. . Upon arrival the hotel looks as promised and has great views but the good experience stops there. I had to listen to other guests sitting right outside my window being extremely rowdy until almost midnight and when I entered my room the toilet was clogged from a prior guest. I inquired about a plunger to fix the issue and the front desk kept assuring me they would bring one to no avail. Finally, I called and explained the toilet hadn't been working nearly 24 hours and how I had called numerous times for a plunger and the front desk clerk shrugged me off and said they were busy. I think a situation with a guest having to deal with feces and a non working toilet should take presidency? Staying here was like staying at a campus fraternity house!! read more

My adult son and I stayed here and were very happy with it. We stayed in a single room with 2 queen beds. It had a microwave and mini fridge in it and free WiFi. Everything was in working order from the shower to the heater. We were able to easily park in front of our room to unload and load. They have a large parking lot and you could easily see your vehicle which I really liked along with the view of the mountains. They have a small play area for children and a small area for cooking. It also has an outdoor fireplace to keep you warm. It was too windy the night we were there so we stayed indoors. They have a lot of channels to to choose from. There is a complimentary breakfast that includes oatmeal, waffles, toast, cereals, muffins, fruit and several drink options. The coffee mugs in your room can be purchased for $5 each in the lobby. I love this hotel!! Arrived after office hours and staff left my key and note in the mailbox--office staff is so incredibly friendly and like to visit with guests who linger in the cute lobby. Bed linens are Ralph Lauren and very comfy, as well as nice soaps and cozy, clean room. Plus I didn't have my pup with me, but saw that this hotel is pet friendly (especially loved the standard poodle hanging out in the lobby). Small breakfast bar in the mornings with toast, boiled eggs, muffins and cereal. You can sit with your coffee and visit or read in the lobby any time of the day. Absolutely in love with this place. The staff is very kind and generous. The furniture has a very cabin like feel. But the view is the best part!! Every day I have come out to take pictures because it is just absolutely stunning. One thing I didn't like that wasn't even related to the hotel was the Blue Door Inn's lights at night. It does ruin some pictures I have taken and it distracts from the scenery. There were many workers from another company being very loud yesterday but I do understand they have a job to do. At least that was during the day. The hot tub was very nice and refreshing. And I love that there is a spot for you to grill your own food or have a campfire on the property. Parking is a little hard to find at night, last night there were no spots left for the next people to come. All electronics worked perfectly and it really was a nice stay. We are really enjoying our time at Hotel Estes. Conveniently located 5 minuets from downtown (with a Safeway grocery store in between) you couldn't ask for a better location. Surrounded by other hotel/motels in a "strip" for vacationers, it's comparable to other locations except this hotel has a real family feel. While other hotels have some similar amenities, this places goes the extra mile to make visitors feel at home. There are multiple BBQs and picnic tables available for use. There's even a fire pit for cooking up s'mores. When we returned after dinner tonight we saw a family grilling and using the fire pit, simply having the best time together. Wonderful and what vacation should be about! The room are newly renovated to include bright white comforters, country wood furniture, and large screen TVs. Our room is very large, larger than a typical hotel room. The bath supplies included a nice variety and quality of products. The room was exceptionally clean and the updating brought a sincere feeling of freshness. In a state where most "hotels" are really "motels", this room was exceptional. Yes, it's still a drive up motel with exterior hallways, but once inside the room you could easily forget that. I don't think an independently run motel could do any better. There is a microwave and refrigerator in each room. The rooms have stand-in bathtubs, which we like better when traveling with kids. The only negative we experienced is the ability to hear those above us stomping around. It's an older building and I imagine there's simply nothing they can do about that. The pool is fine and well used by families and children. There appears to be two hot tubs, one that is within the pool area and a second that is strangely surrounded by wood paneling on three sides that is off the side of one of the buildings. We've nicknamed it the "gratto" and I'm unsure I'd want to know what occurs in there after hours. Today a late-middle aged man sat in there alone for a fairly long time adding to its strangeness. There are two small well-used play areas for child that have climbers and swings. One important thing to note is that not all rooms are created equal. There are primarily three room locations. 1. Main building rooms that face the pool or main parking lot. These are nicely located but may be a bit loud during the day and early evening with family's at play. The view of these rooms looks towards the mountains. 2. The lower building pool facing rooms. These have much in common with those in the main building, but have a degree of separation from the bigger action. The view is consistent with the main building but views on top floor are better than those on the bottom. 3. The back of the lower building. Our room was one of these. The negatives, at first, outweighed the positives in that there is ZERO view. We are looking at trees in the neighboring property. In a destination that is based on taking in the scenery, we were initially frustrated with seeing essentially nothing. The positive became apparent when afternoon festivities heated up - these rooms are quite and peaceful. We can't hear the pool, can open our shade without feeling like we are in a fishbowl and we are generally away from the action. As this is the end of a long week for us, a little peace a quite hits the spot. I do wish we could see a little something though. A negative is that these rooms are far from parking. The only access to these rooms is a ramp/staircase that is located on the other end of the building from the parking lot. The corner rooms appear to have windows on the side of the building that do have a view. These might be the "3 bed" rooms. None of these back building rooms appear handicap accessible due to stairs. If you know what kind of room you want, you should ask for it up front. Perhaps when you make a reservation. Another perk of the hotel is a public laundry room. In any vacation day past the first few, a laundry room is a real plus! Unlike bigger hotel chains, they don't nickel and dime you - the machines are $1 to wash and another $1 to dry. The dryer actually works well and dried a full load in under 40 mins. A really kind plus was that they provided the laundry detergent free of charge. There was an empty box of dryer sheets, so they must have simply run out. The only down side is that everyone is really excited to wash dirty vacation clothes and the machines are full much of the time, especially in the evening. Overall, a really nice home away from home in a very fun, family-orientated town. Well done Hotel Estes! read more

We had a great trip in Estes Park, and Hotel Estes definitely fit into the "atmosphere". It is no 4 star hotel, a bit more rustic, but that is what we were looking for. They have a nice little picnic area with fire pits and plenty of grills and a lot of trees. They also host a campfire every night with s'mores. We stayed there 3 nights. The room was big enough and clean, with small bathroom. The service and welcoming were very good and very professional. The pool is big and well maintained. The breakfast is not really great... Let's say it is a complementary morning snack and coffee! Overall, above average and better than we were expecting. There's quite a bit of trash or construction/maintenance debris all over the property. Perhaps they're in the process of renovating or refurbishing. The good: decor is updated, beds are comfortable, plenty of pillows, rooms are very clean, two club chairs plus a desk chair, lighting is good, hand-held magnifying mirror in the bathroom, plenty of space for luggage, large dog kennel, and lounging, outlets are adequate but not abundant, hook on back of bathroom door. Not so good: 20-minute walk to restaurants, Starbucks, etc., extreme and sudden temperature fluctuations during shower, bath towels are very small & thin, tub has little or no room for shampoo/soap bottles, A/C units are old and the knobs and directional vents don't function properly. The room is fine and they do what they can for morning breakfast. The only issue that I had was the doors... the door automatically locks when you walk out of the room and the lock uses a key chain not a card key so if you don't have your key with you then you have to walk all the way to the front desk. The front seat is sometimes closed so if you go out for a smoke and the door closes behind you... you will be locked out in a blizzard with freezing temperatures. And if you walk up to the reception office there isn't even a number to call to get back in your room... thank god I found a spare keychain key that I had from a previous lock out... otherwise I would have had to kick my own door in so I wouldn't freeze... change the door lock and I'll give 5 stars... read more

Staying at the Hotel Estes was a wonderful experience. Clean room (smelled of pine, real pine) kind staff, great location and affordable! We stayed two nights and after arriving late (the office closes at 9) and locking ourselves out not 5 minutes after we got there, a staff member was kind enough to drive down and let us in right away. Shopping, restaurants, the lake and just about all other activities are walking distance. Year round hot tub was awesome. (And clean!) OH! And of course, Hotel Estes is pet friendly. This hotel went above and beyond our expectations! It's right off the main road not hard to find at all. It is close to downtown maybe a 2-3 min drive. Beautiful breathtaking views from our room!!! The pool and jacuzzi were closed, but nonetheless we had a good time. The tv was a bit small and breakfast could have been better, but other than that everything was great. Plenty of parking and it's free! The room was all wood which gave a nice rustic feel that I loved! The bathroom was a bit outdated and we could hear our neighbors through the wall but even so I had an awesome nights sleep. Check in and check out was seamless. Front desk lady was really nice, the price really wasn't that bad at all. we stayed for two nights in a King room. The bed was SO comfortable. Everything was clean, and everything worked!! Next time we'll get the second floor so we can see the mountains better, but I'm definitely not complaining about my view from the first floor because it was still amazing!! This is an awesome yet affordable hotel in the heart of Estes. The view across the street is picturesque and there was a heard of elk drinking out of the fountain in front of the building as we pulled up! The rooms are really nice and cozy. A small TV with only a few Chanel's encourage you to get out and see the city. If you choose to stay in, you can check out movies, a DVD player, and board games from the front desk. They also have multiple play grounds and fire pits. During the summer they have a pool and jacuzzi. Year round they have a hot tub right outside room 118. In the mornings there is a small yet enjoyable continental breakfast. They are also pet friendly but you wouldn't be able to tell if you didn't bring you dog. I definitely recommend this place fall, winter, spring, or summer for a family outing. You'll enjoy it just like we did. read more

We had reservations booked for a trip in 10/2016. The hotel advertises as "pet friendly." After getting a confirmation, I went on to read more about their pet policy. The email stated that pets are not to be left unattended so I called the hotel to get more specific detail because clearly, we can't literally bring out dog everywhere. I went on to explain that our dog is quiet and will be kenneled for activities that are not dog friendly outside of the hotel. To my surprise, the hotel would not work with me and the man I was talking to said, "If you plan on leaving your dog unattended at any time, I'm going to ask that you cancel your reservation." I found another hotel that is truly pet friendly and canceled my stay. It is unfortunate that terrible pet owners with mis-behaved, un-trained, and destructive dogs ruin the experience for everyone else. read more
