Our greeter to the resort
Debbie G.

Loved our greeter! The grounds were kept up and clean. When you check in you are given keys that you turn back in. Our room (king bed) was very clean & spacious. The bed was very comfortable and towel were not rough. I believe they offered a Continental breakfast. This was a great one night stay for us. I would definitely recommend this place and will return when we are back in Este Park.

Murphy's Resort is a cute little family owned motel not too far from downtown Estes Park. We arrived for late check in and the front desk staff left a lock box with the room key for us which made it so easy! The rooms are quaint but clean and I liked how we could park the car right outside of our room. The beds and pillows are comfortable. The breakfast is located in a common room and includes typical continental fare like bagels, fruit, yogurt, coffee. We heard that they had live music on Friday night before we arrived, hate to have missed that! We would stay here again.

Great location, friendly staff. We got the king suite with jacuzzi. The room is clean and spacious. They have live country music near the fire pit at night. We had a great time staying there.

We traveled to Estes Park from Los Angeles for a wedding and this resort was on the list of recommended places to stay. It turned out to be a real find! The rates are reasonable and the room is huge. There is a very nice small refrigerator and microwave and coffee maker, a very comfortable couch, an indoor table and chairs as well as a table and chair set in front of the unit. The weather and the views were great so we had our lunch outside and we surprised to see two huge elk munching and napping on the lawn on the property in front of us! We went through the National Park and didn't see any! It's an older resort so if you want brand new this property won't work for you but if you like homey comfort this is the place. They have a continental breakfast and the staff have all been exceptional.

Stayed in Estes Park for two nights in October with my mom. Murphy's resort is such a welcoming, safe place to enjoy the crisp fall weather, elk, and the amenities offered. Close to downtown, the lake and the Stanley hotel. Simple continental breakfast, but it gets the day started. Resort was able to easily accommodate for late arrival and made checking in after hours a breeze. Owners and staff and extremely friendly and accommodating. Elk grazed at dusk on the property. Babies were still nursing in late October. Was an absolute sight to see. Could use some updates in the rooms, but given the history of Estes Park, this was honestly not even that big of a deal and loved the more homey-spacious rooms.

Overall this is a quaint little hotel which meets your needs and has everything you would need for a couple of days stay here in Estes Park. Due to a recent outbreak of Covid in Larimer County there was minimal to no housekeeping services which is totally understandable. But we had more than what we needed and supplies were readily available. The prices were really good and the hotel has dog friendly rooms. We had frequent visitors (mule deer) every evening which added a positive to our stay. The location is just far enough from the main drag that the noise level and traffic are minimal.

I would give 2.5 stars if I could. We stayed for a large family wedding & Murphy's resort was very accommodating for a fun family style reception after the ceremony. 5 stars for: Lots of activities and great Music on Friday night & friendly service. *Continental breakfast 3.5/5 coffee, Hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, bananas, granola bars & muffins. Staff was super sweet. *GREAT Steak house & bar next door! (They close at 9pm) * Easy trip into downtown Estes to multiple restaurants & shops 1-2 Stars for: The rooms. They need some updating. *They claimed service every other day, but in our mandatory 3-night stay, our room was never cleaned. *We had a kitchenette with glasses, coffee maker (Folgers coffee) & sink & microwave, but no dishes, silverware, or wine opener. The floors were laminate & seemed dirty. (Bring house shoes or slippers). *Our room had a gel fire place available for use which was supposed to have complimentary for the first use. (We would have to gone to the front desk to ask for the gel canister) *we actually had 2 TV's in our room (1- on each side of the fireplace) but only direct TV- no TV App service available. *Internet was a 3.5/5. Ours seemed to occasionally go in & out. If you need to conduct online business while here you may struggle. *Convenience store had bare necessities, but very minimal items.

We were on the 2nd floor (same as street level actually - you would go down go down floor to reach the ground floor rooms). I liked having no one above us. The room was large, with a mini fridge and a microwave, and little gas fireplace. Bed was comfy. There was also a live seat, chair and table. The room opened onto a shared balcony overlooking the lawn and the Fall River. The sound of the river is so great! The only drawback to the room was vary low water pressure in the bathroom. The whole property is non-smoking and I really appreciated that. The grounds are incredible. You can't hear any traffic - just the sound of the river. There is plenty of seating on the lawn so you can just relax and enjoy. No children allowed which also boosts the peace and tranquility. The hot tub room seems very new. It too faces the river so you can soak the sore muscles from hiking and still have a great view. I absolutely loved that they offer free s'mores kits in the lobby. Every night, they come out and light the fire pit, and we spent time by the fire each night! It was a nice way to meet other guests and such a treat to have the s'mored. It's a great, thoughtful extra that just puts them a notch above others.

Close to downtown, beautiful nature sounds, easy to find, lovely room with a view to the river. We didn't really get any customer service experience since they give you a code for your door instead of a key card. Can't comment too much on that. The room was great, it had cups for water and coffee, plates, cutlery, a cutting board, and toaster, a fridge and well equipped for a short stay where you can bring your own snacks/food. Had a lovely time there.

It's a beautiful setting, but several issues impacted my experience. First, I felt the advertising was a bit misleading. I saw a pool listed on Orbitz, but I discovered there isn't a pool anywhere on the property. Instead, there are two above-ground hot tubs. I went to the one on the second level, but I found climbing the narrow metal stairs with wet feet to be a bit dangerous. I also noticed that the rooms are slightly dated and showing their age. In my room, the curtain rod was actually falling out of the wall, which told me they need to keep up with better maintenance. You should also know there is no lobby or front desk here; I just received a code via text message and entered it to get into my room. While efficient, it felt a bit impersonal. My biggest complaint, however, was the construction noise. I didn't realize they are currently expanding the inn and building two new buildings on the same lot. Unfortunately, my room was right next to the construction site, and I had to deal with loud noise all morning. I think this place has a lot of potential once the upgrades are done, but between the maintenance issues and the noise, I didn't find it to be the relaxing getaway I was hoping for.

Everywhere you look there is charm. We stayed in the "Cowboy Attic Suite". My mom immediately had an "experience". I heard a grandfather clock chime throughout our stay. I never saw one and forgot to ask where it was located. I love old clocks. My aunt had her own experience that woke her from her sleep. Everyone we encountered was nice and we appreciated the cander as we asked for their stories/experiences there. The bad....for what we paid, it was not worth it. The floor feels dirty. It is as though they have not thought to clean the carpets in quite some time. Under the bed is a nice layer of dust. The whole hotel could use a moist cloth and a good wipe down. The dust in the display cases throughout the hotel is obvious and off putting. We met Hannibal. Wish we would have booked the seance, but alas, we ran out of time. He was a hoot to talk to.

Obviously, from the recent reviews and absolutely no response from the management, this hotel…read moreestablishment does not value its guests. As everyone else has mentioned, the construction is a huge turn off! And absolutely no mention of it when you're booking your room. In addition, when I booked my room, I did not realize that I was booking it in the Aspire building. I thought that the Stanley hotel was one big hotel. I did not realize that there were different newer buildings. In the end, though, I am very happy that we are in the other building as what is being done at the original hotel is really offputting. The staff, however, were very nice and accommodating. Besides all of the construction, they have tours going on an hourly basis that are open to anyone who passes by, for a cost of $25+, of course and no discount for hotel guests. Those tourists who have not spent several hundred per night are all over the main lobby, dirtying up the carpet, wandering around the property with screaming kids, going up and down the stairwells, and elevator if it's running, just taking up space that should be reserved for guests!! Especially guests who are paying dearly for what they thought would be an old, elegant hotel experience. It is definitely not an elegant hotel anymore. It tries, a little, but is obviously too interested in making money off of tours rather than providing an exceptional experience for guests. I had envisioned myself sitting in that grand lobby reading a book with some tea. Impossible and wouldn't be pleasant if it was possible. Our room in the Aspire was nice, and the lobby, spa and gym facilities and the outdoor pool are very attractive and peaceful. But, again, some things just don't make sense. For instance, the lovely fireplace they have in the lobby is shut down at 8 PM when the desk agent goes home. I have been looking forward all day, to just sitting by that fireplace with a nice drink and reading my book. Seems like a normal expectation for a higher end hotel in the Colorado mountains. The pool area is nice, as is the steam room and gym. There are plenty of towels, tea and coffee and nice amenities. They need little tables out by the lounge chairs on the pool deck for people to set their drinks and things on instead of the ground. The beds, linens and pillows were great. There is no mini fridge in the room, no additional amenities in bathroom like Q tips, makeup remover wipes, etc... normal amenities offered in hotels of this price range and expected caliber. There is no full length mirror in the bedroom or in the bathroom and the mirror in the bathroom is so dimly lit it is impossible for a woman to see to put makeup on and no other mirror in the bedroom. They don't make up your room or refresh towels unless you specifically request it. I understand not changing out towels for ecological reasons, but when you are paying these kind of prices for a hotel room, someone should come in and make up your bed every day and tidy up and take the trash out. We're just one night in to our stay so we shall see how the rest goes. It has been pretty disappointing though.
