Visited Taharaa to photograph a wedding and absolutely loved it. The breakfast was outstanding (even the coffee was good). Rooms were great and the views are unbeatable!

A very spacious peaceful place 2 get away from the hustle and bustle. Rooms with a view to die for. The restaurant was hustling and bustling. Very friendly staff. The owner is very personable and must work 24/7. In the morning he serves you breakfast in the evening he'll serve you dinner. Upper and lower parking accessible right in the front doors. Very secure place with codes. Jacuzzi off to the side.

Fell in love with this place the minute we saw it! The views are incredible! The room was very pretty, the bed was extremely comfortable. (I'm a bed snob! I need my sleep! LOL) The staff was extremely warm and friendly. The home cooked breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day. Would highly recommend the lodge and will stay again!

If you are looking for the perfect place for a wedding, an anniversary getaway, a birthday celebration, or family reunion, this is the place for you. The staff at Taharaa Mountain Lodge are all incredible. They are attentive, courteous, and friendly. One of my best friends got married this past weekend, and her family rented out all 18 rooms. It was the perfect place for everyone to spend a few days, and really enjoy celebrating the bride & groom. The rooms are spacious and all include a fireplace. The suite was huge with a sitting room, large bathroom (huge bathtub and shower), and beautiful bedroom. All the rooms face over the beautiful Estes Park valley. The wedding ceremony took place on the outdoor, covered deck. It was a gorgeous backdrop for a beautiful winter wedding. The reception was held inside their great room, which was gorgeous with all its large windows. Each morning we were treated to a delicious breakfast, with the breakfast potato boats being my personal favorite. They also hosted a cocktail hour in the evening. If you want a talented group of people that are sure to make you feel special, regardless of the occasion, and the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Estes Park look no further than Taharaa Mountain Lodge!

    Fireplace fully on.

It's like a B&B personality without the B&B invasiveness, if you get my drift. We absolutely had a wonderful time. Stayed for one of the music shows. Yet it's unfortunate to say that the ladies behind the bar nearly pushed me to rate three simply because they didn't seem friendly at all. So right off the bay we didn't feel super welcomed. It was made up for though with my delicious glass of wine and my husband's Keyhole drink, their take on an Old Fashioned. That was a slam dunk....probably one of the best old fashioneds we have ever had and we are originally from Wisconsin! One or two other employees ended up casually swinging by while we enjoyed our time on the big porch and their friendliness and welcoming nature was a nice change up from what we experienced inside. We ordered the broccolini to go with our appetizers. It was quite good with the cheese and almond slices. Yet it was so pricey, as were the drinks. But if we consider our views and the experience overall I think we could talk ourselves into thinking it was money well spent!

Cozy, affordable Bed & Breakfast in a great location…read more Innkeepers Hans & Miriam run a lovely B & B just outside of the downtown in Estes Park. My wife and I stayed here when we vacationed in Colorado in June. We loved Colorado so much we moved there 5 months later! We stayed in an upstairs bedroom that was quaint and homey. The bed was comfortable enough and the room & bathroom were clean & ship-shape. Our hosts serve a group breakfast in the morning, and it was interesting to chat with the other guests. For the mornings that we planned to leave for Rocky Mountain National Park early, Miriam prepared a fortifying boxed breakfast ahead of time. The location was great as a jumping-off point for the Park, or for a stroll around downtown Estes. The only downside, and I don't really blame the owners (it is what it is), was that there was no air-conditioning. Normally at this elevation it wouldn't have been an issue, but it was an unseasonably warm week when we were there, getting up into the mid-90's during the day, and it took a long while to cool down. Hans & Miriam supplied us with a fan, which helped some. In hindsight, it kind of added to the charm, but at the time it was a bit uncomfortable. All in all, I would highly recommend The Quilt House for a cozy mountain getaway.

It is cozy, friendly, welcoming, and definitely not trendy. If you want to be transported back to an imagined childhood with kind grandparents, this is the place for you. The Quilt House owners are Hans and Miriam Graetzer, who bought this home about 15 years ago and remodeled to be their retirement business. The lodging consists of three bedrooms, each with its own bath, on the second floor, along with a sitting room for guests. There is a cabin to the side as well. I only saw our room, which had two twin beds and a bath, and the sitting room, which you could reasonably call a Parlor, if you were old enough. The bathroom was small, but everything was spotless, and there was plenty of hot water. The Quilt House has nonsmoking, no alcohol, policies. If you want to come back to your room and have a glass of wine before bed, this is not the place for you. We had plenty of wine or beer with our dinners in town, so we didn't feel the need to get blotto before retiring for the night. The Graetzers provide a hearty, filling group breakfast at 8:00am. Everyone eats together. The food is delicious and simple, and all made by Miriam. She makes delicious nut breads and quiche. When we checked in, Hans asked if we had any dietary restrictions. We explained that we were vegetarians, and they were able to accommodate our dietary needs. Hans also asked if we preferred coffee or tea in the morning, and we were always served what we wanted. The one thing that might bother some folks is the religious practices, though some of you might appreciate it. The Graetzers are apparently devout Christians. Again, we felt like we were in Granddad's house, so we went along. Hans offered a blessing at breakfast on the first day, which, according to other guests who were regulars at the Quilt House, he typically does. The next day, he asked us to sing "God Bless America", and we did. Can't say I've ever done that before at breakfast. On our last morning, we were leaving at 6am, so Miriam packed us two breakfasts to go, which she left in the guest refrigerator in the parlor. There was enough food to feed six people. That was very sweet, and very much appreciated. Hans and Miriam have lived in Estes Park for almost 20 years. They are knowledgeable about the area and its attractions, and are very willing to answer any questions guests might have. There are books everywhere, and magazines, which guests are welcome to read. There are no televisions, no DVD players, no nothing of that sort. It's a quiet place. Again, if you need to watch ESPN or rent DVDs, this is not the place for you. The Quilt House is located on a side street that is only a five-minute walk from the Donut Haus, a good Italian restaurant, a local brewery, and a Chinese restaurant. Walk another 5 minutes, and you're in the heart of downtown Estes Park, with all sorts of restaurants and crappy shops that will appeal to any tourist. We enjoyed our stay at The Quilt House because we wanted simple, inexpensive, comfortable and convenient lodging. But we have simple needs. We got along just fine without TV, radio, Internet (no Wi-Fi here), and drinking alcohol before bedtime. We enjoyed talking with other guests at the breakfast table, and hanging out in the parlor, watching weather systems roll in from Rocky Mountain National Park. But if you need all the modern conveniences, and lots of special services and entertainment provided at your lodging, this may not be the place for you. For me and the sibling, it was just fine. We would stay again.

From the ceremony site options, to the bridal suite, to the dining area and the dance floor, we enjoyed all of the spaces this place has to offer. Our 108 guests loved the food, the drinks, and the views so much, they couldn't stop commenting all night on how beautiful and awesome this venue was. And our photos turned out incredible with the mountains, the river, the trees, and the outdoor lights. Dawn is responsive and helpful and she knows what she's doing! My one area of constructive criticism would be recommending that the venue provide a clearer timeline to the couples getting married. I typed my own up based on our meetings but the venue stated they'd send it a few times and never got around to it. Otherwise, I can't say enough WONDERFUL things about this spot. Hospitality is their jam. The rentable items like the arch and photo booth, the in-house decorations, and the food options are positively stunning. The Disapointing: I found out a bear had been in the yard the night before by overhearing a conversation. As I inquired she suggested we move any food into the room. If I hadn't overheard the conversation we would have left the food in the car. The mattress is extremely uncomfortable. Their supposedly "simple" to use thermostat is not simple. I was furious when the receptionist inferred I was simple for not figuring it out. Cold air comes in through the fireplace which must play havoc with the simple thermostat. The stone chosen for the sink appears to be wet all the time and the shower pressure is poor. The lite continental breakfast was all prepackaged food, not even any fruit.
