Descent place. Food came out fast. Bartender didn't have sugar for a Shipyard. come on. it's in season. you gotta have that.

Looks can be deceiving! This hole in the wall on a corner in downtown Provi totally shocked me. I thought we were going in for just a little lunch but no, it was a GREAT lunch. Salads, sandwiches, apps and entrees, they had it all and YUMMY pickles when you sit down. This is a gem and my impression was way more than expected. read more

Where do we begin on this one....Stayed at the Omni Providence Hotel on 11/23 and a friend recommend Murphys for a quick bite and a few drinks before a show at PPAC. We arrived at 5:10pm with a party of four and tried to order drinks first, one Shock Top and one Sam Adams seasonal, unfortunately after placing the order were told they were all out of both. Ok, I get that and the fact that beers run out, no big deal so we ordered something else. Upon being seated we were told they were out of burgers. Really out of burgers??? Then we went to place food orders for simple items like potato skins and guess what - they were all out. An Irish pub/restaurant out of potato's, really?? But ok so be it, but then we ordered 3 fish and chips and chicken tenders, 4 meals easily prepared one would think, but over an hour later no food had come out and we were forced to cancel order and leave. Waitresses were clearly upset with kitchen staff, lack of food and lack of beers as we overheard their frustrations and conversations and I cannot say I blame them! However whether they were short staffed, ran out of nearly every beer or food option,or simply dropped the ball - would have appreciated the waitress just being honest, forthcoming and truthful rather than just putting condiments on the table and saying our food would be right out, when clearly she knew it wouldn't. Being someone who works in the hospitality industry myself; I can understand things happen that are sometimes out of your control, but this was just absurd. If you are close by a top notch hotel like the Omni Providence and know they send you a ton of business, AND there is a huge Irish step dancing convention coming to town and you are the recommended Irish bar -then you should know you will be slammed, and clearly Murphy's Deli and Bar didn't plan accordingly and completely dropped the ball on this one. Therefore, after an hour and a half wait for simple, fried foods, a total lack of planning and communication, and poor customer service; I would not recommend this place to anyone and have also communicated this info to my good friend who is a manager at the Omni Providence hotel. With that being said, if you are planning on staying in the Providence, Rhode Island area, the Omni hotel was spectacular and everything I hoped for and more. read more

We did a group dinner at Murphy's last night and i couldn't have asked for a better experience. Lou put together such a reasonably priced menu that was specially designed for our group. Everyone was impressed with the choices and raved about their food. Splitting the checks was nearly seamless (and that's no easy task for 15 families!) and our servers were so attentive and patient with all of our kids. Our best dining experience in Providence! read more

Went for a large takeout for several vendors at a nearby event. Although **the Yelp menu listing is very out of date**, we still were able to get a lot of good food, and the workers in the kitchen were amazing to watch. I'll definitely be back for the food sometime. read more

Drinks are great and had a great time doing karaoke as well. The bar and wait staff are very hard workers! I recommend sitting at that cool long table too! read more

Our total meal took 2 1/2 hours and the food wasn't good. It took 40 min to get our appetizers, which was better than the main course, and that was only after we went and asked the guy where they were. In fairness to the waiter, I think there were only 2 people working in the whole restaurant/bar and it was fairly busy. We didn't realize that until we were leaving or obviously we would have gone somewhere else. read more

I always have a wonderful time here. Every time I'm in provide it's a must to stop by. I love the new renovations and menu. Fried pickles are good but need a better batter. read more

One of my favorite spots in Providence. A great place to go after an event or to start a night out to grab some food and a couple of drinks. The waitstaff is great and the food is amazing. read more

The Killer Kow was a great sandwich, the side of slaw was just the way I like it, and those Narragansett's were ice cold. Definitely glad I decided to give this place a try during a business trip. Friendly staff, not overcrowded, and reasonably priced. read more

If you love Reuben's this is the place to go in Providence. I always opt for mixing the corned beef with pastrami. The mac and cheese is also a great side though I generally get it go to because it's too much with the sandwich. I have been coming here since I moved to Providence 14 years ago and though it has gone through lots of changes, the staff and food have always remained great. If you are not into Reuben's try the meatball sub, chili, or shepherds pie. Stay away from the steak tip salad or chicken breast based sandwiches they tend to be dry. Tip: order the Irish iced coffee. read more

What a disappointment. Came on a late weekend morning. Service was slow, despite not being crowded. Our simple food order of a hot sandwich and a bagel took more than a half hour. Server not to be seen for at least 15 minutes. When it arrived, everything was cold except the accompanying potatoes. Bagel was burnt on the edges. Even if the food had arrived at the appropriate temperature and within a reasonable amount of time, it still would not have earned another visit. read more

Great taps great food great staff!! And the prices are good. Bartender was beyond helpful and easy going. The food was fresh, homemade (awesome good chili and salsa), and prompt. Will definitely come back for that pub feel and grub next time I'm back in town read more

Tasty, traditional American food and low prices. I had a vegetable wrap that was filled with broccoli, mushrooms, and cheese. I had to interview someone for a class I was taking, so I was a bit nervous during the meal. I took most of the wrap home, and it was still delicious. Also--amicable staff, air-conditioned room, and clean restrooms. read more

I sat at the bar with a friend and had a really good time. Service and food was excellent! However, when I went to the bathroom, my sandwich (which I put in a to-go box) was THROWN OUT! Really? I only went away for 5 minutes, and the bar was only half full. When I came back, I was offered the sandwich from OUT OF THE TRASH by the bartender!?! I loved my sandwich but I feel like for $10 I could at LEAST enjoy the second half the next day....or an offer of some money back? Something? Really? What an unconcerned staff! read more

Tried this place while in town for work. The Reuben, service and overall experience was great. Only taking off 1 star bc the French fries were not so good.. read more

This place is great. Sort of a dive-ish looking place but the sandwiches were fantastic. Everyone i was with had the pastrami and corned beef and everyone was more than satisfied. We had the mozzarella sticks and onion rings, which were tasty. Service was good, atmosphere was good, definitely stop in here for lunch if you're in beautiful downtown Providence. read more

Love this place! It's great food and great beer for a reasonable price. We are here dropping our daughter off for college. We will definitely be back! They have fabulous deli and great service! A must visit in providence read more

Worst experience at a restaurant I have ever had. There is a lot to cover here so bear with me. We showed up to Murphy's after a Providence Bruins hockey game, as it was close to the venue. From what I hear they serve a good sandwich and it is a dive bar. Sounds like my kind of place. It goes downhill from there. It was not busy in the restaurant with many open seats. We were sat by the busboy who gave us some menus. 20 minutes later the busboy returned and took our food order. There were 7 of us, we ordered a few orders of wings and we each ordered a sandwich, we still hadn't seen the waitress or ordered drinks. A few minutes passed and the waitress came and took our drink order. The drinks were weak (Jack and diet) but the beers were cold. We got only half the amount of wings we ordered an hour later. The busboy explained after we got them that there was a special he put in for us so we only got 8 wings. We ordered more. The wing sauce was tasty. We ordered the wings well done but they were normal cooked. Just another mistake. An hour later our sandwiches came, well at least they did for 6 of the 7 people. I had waited an hour and a half to not get my food. The waitress said she would put it in for me again, I told her to forget it as I did not want to wait another hour and a half for a sandwich. I was finally able to order my second weak drink. We paid, and I used the bathroom. The toilet was held together by duct tape... oddly not a bad thing in my book. I like dives. Overall a poor experience with inattentive wait staff, weak drinks, forgetful servers, slow service, uninformative busboys, and generally poor execution. It is too bad because the items that people actually received looked good and my friends liked what they got. I will not being going back ever, I usually go back to give places another chance but this place did way too many things wrong. It speaks about the operation in general. read more

Stopped in for lunch last Friday, food was excellent I highly recommend the Rueben Egg Rolls so effin good, waiter was very friendly and attentive will deff be back for more looking forward to trying the fish and chips read more

Living in the area I frequent Murphy's almost weekly. Late night and early, I'm always satisfied. Tonight I came in after work for a drink and some food. Debbie was amazing. She is usually behind the bar on my visits and tonight along with other nights was just amazing. Her service was beyond amazing. The steak and cheese I ordered from the late night menu was HUGE! It was loaded to the top with steak and fresh onions and peppers. Way better than some other local places. I was more than pleased. Everything was piping hot and fresh. I would 100% recommend anyone to come here for a quick bite and a brew. This is not fine dining so don't come here with your nose up in the air. This is local pub food done right. Make sure you ask for the pickled cucumbers and peppers. Delish! I will be back again soon and make sure sit at the bar. You will be happy you did! read more

If I could give half stars i'd give this place 2 1/2. It's an ok place to eat wings and watch a game or whatever but not a place I would at all frequent. I find these types of places boring and taky, but thats just me. read more

I went with my boyfriend on a weeknight to catch a game. We both got the reuben and it was so good!!! Very Irish inside, which is awesome because I love Irish bars. Sandwiches are awesome and service is generally ok. The crowd always seems to be a bunch of older scumbags though.

Never again will I go to murphys for anything but drinks at the bar. This place has been a staple for years and years. I went in Saturday afternoon and this place looks great. The renovations that were made were definitely an improvement. However the wait staff and the cook leave a lot to be desired. There was no wait for us to sit, and therefore, it was not busy. We were seated and there was no waitress to even address us as she was busy with her two other tables. The water girl took our drink order before the waitress finally came by. She took our orders (salad with tuna and a turkey sandwich...both of which are cold dinners not needing to be cooked) and she did not return for 25 minutes. Cold food orders on a non busy afternoon should not take that long. The food wasn't much to write about as it had zero flavor. I'm so very disappointed that my go to place is lacking tremendously. read more

Excellent food and service! A great place for getting a quick bite (of tasty food!) or lounging with friends.

This looked like a fun place. I was looking for a quick meal before meeting up with some friends. I waited for 10 minutes and people kept walking by me. I then stood up and went to the host ... who was nowhere to be found, for another 10 minutes. So I left. :( read more

This place was the bomb. They totally had the hottest bar locally. The food was to die for. My family and I enjoyed the food the drinks and the vibe that they have. The staff was cool and very friendly no BS. I asked about the French dip sandwich and the bartender told me it was his favorite. I ordered the French dip and I loved it. We ended up staying at this bar for 5 hours drinking and taking in the great vibe. Thank you Murphy's Providence for the wonderful service and experience!!! read more

Love the fish sandwich on Friday. Good prices on beer, good food, great pickles.

It's a bar. And a deli. Oh Rhode Island the fun things you have to offer. The wings there are awesome. I ordered the sesame teriyaki and they were great. Very reasonably priced. I like that they keep the 'staples' of beer on tap, but constantly rotate a few different local beers. They're not always good, but they're local damnit! A nice place to head to after a Bruins game or just out with some friends. read more

EVERY time we come to town I make my husband come here. Cornbeef mile high sandwich is the best

Incredibly friendly, warm atmosphere for a great casual dining experience. The fish and chips and any deli sandwich will be sure to be the best you've ever had. My husband and I go back bimonthly for the great food and wonderful service. It's also very comforting and reassuring to see the owner at the restaurant almost every time we dine. You can tell the owners take pride in what they do. read more

Love this place. We come to a conference at the convention center every year and it is nice to know Murphy's is right across the street. Rueben egg rolls are great. The Russian dressing takes them over the top. Friendly, attentive staff. Half sour pickles. Great history including Irish, Jewish and Swedish families. Fusion before fusion was cool. read more
