We ordered the $45 meal... I will say the wings were good, but the prime rib was the worst we had ever been served! Super thin, flavorless and I cannot emphasize this enough... it was easily 60% solid white fat. My gal left the entire piece of meat after trying to cut the fat off. She only ate part of her baked potato. She was disappointed and grossed out when it came to the meat. I seriously cannot believe the kitchen manager allowed the prime rib to leave the kitchen. I have been dining at Murphy's off and on for the past 20 years! The restaurant has had its ups and downs. On my most recent visit I was pleasantly surprised! The building was the same. It still has that historic building charm. The night became a memory for the books for my wife and I. Autumn, our server, made our night very special. She was attentive and gracious. Even lighting a candle for my dear wife's birthday! My wife had the strawberry rhubarb martini it was to die for!! The food was incredible. I started with a wedge salad and then the filet. It was tender and cooked a perfect medium rare. The best part was the New York cheesecake, their dessert special! Highly recommend. read more

I ordered the prime rib, approx cost $48. It was served room temperature, it was very tough and it required a big saw-like knife to cut it. It came with a rosemary/garlic mashed potato which was also luke warm and had no taste of the herbs. Instead, of creamy, it was watered down and could easily pass for powdered potato. We went to Murphy's last Sunday with several friends. The restaurant was not very busy. Four of the eight of us had to send our food back because it was cold. I ordered a Cesar salad, the waitress forgot it. I reminded her and she said she would get it. "It never came". Im not a picky eater, but our food was horrible. I ordered the Sheppards pie and on a scale of 1-5, I would rate it a 2. My wife had a Rueben sandwich. The bread was so hard we actually had a hard time cutting it. The drinks were good BUT way over priced. We will not be going back! read more

Always enjoyed Murphy's happy hour in the past. Went there on 3 June, about 3:30 PM. The place was practically empty. The noticed the happy hour menus were no longer there and we were informed that the 3 to 6 happy hour is now 3 to 5 and there is no separate menu. All the favorites are gone. Happy hour is now 2 dollars off the house wine (what is the house wine and how much is it?) and some drinks. A few appetizers on the menu are also a couple off the regular price. Now, to the menu: I already mentioned favorites are gone. a shrimp cocktail is now 32 dollars for 3 shrimp, oysters are 18 dollars each(!), a steak is 57 dollars, and sides are apparently extra. The small ceaser salad is 9 dollars. We told the server we'll be leaving. She understood and told us the staff is not happy with this state of affairs either. With these prices, and reading the other bad reviews, I believe Murphy's will not last. We will not be back. read more

It just keeps getting better. I fell in love with my now-husband 34 years ago over two dinners at Murphy's, and we've been returning ever since. The holiday magic of decorations and music just makes it even better. This time Trevor was our server, and he was a stellar reflection on the entire establishment: so personable, so attentive, so courteous and interesting. We almost felt like a friend by the time we left. The food rose to his level as well: the prime rib and salmon were tender, succulent, flavorful to an almost transformative level. And truffle fries were at their best. We left replete, relaxed, and grateful that Murphy's is still bringing it's A-plus game. read more

Walked in because the Italian restaurant next door was reservations only so this was our next best option. The restaurant is known for their prime rib so my husband and I split the 8 ounce because I wasn't super hungry. We started with the sautéed shrimp. It was okay. Not sure why everyone was so crazy about it. $20 seemed like a lot of money to drop on 6 shrimp. We liked that every entree comes with a choice of soup or salad! Prime rib was good. There was a lot of fat on it but I feel like that is expected. Our server was okay. A bit awkward and not super attentive. All in all it was an okay second choice to our Italian restaurant that we had planned on going to. We really, really like Murphy's. The restaurant is vintage style with big comfortable booths where you can have a private conversation. The staff is professional, prompt and courteous. I only eat protein that swims and Murphy's has a number of "surf" options that are delicious...like the seared scallops! Can't speak for the "turf" entrees, obviously, but my husband liked the prime rib very much. We've been to Murphy's twice and will undoubtedly go again! Let's go, Brandon! read more

Our waitress was great. There were ten of us so she did great. Half of the lunches were great. The other half were terrible. 5 of us had the $12 French Onion soup. Excelent steakhouse in great location, one block from city center square. Not a high end white table cloth type of steakhouse you'd find in a big city (Cap Grill, Delmonico's, etc...) but food is about as good! Had the prawn cocktail and received 4-5 good sized large jumbo prawns over ice. Oysters were ok, also over ice, but nothing special and you don't get to select the type; but this isn't a high end type of place where you would expect that (see above). For entrees we had prime rib and the scallops. Prime was perfectly done med-rare even at 8 PM at night and the as jus served with it made it over the top good. But the scallops were the best thing we ate all weekend! Huge and still cooked to perfection. Chocolate cake was good, the carrot cake was better just because the chocolate cake had a white frosting instead of chocolate. But the best part of all was the service - everyone was out of the way nice and Trevor our waiter was the best one could ask for - super helpful and johnny on the spot with drink refills. read more

This has got to be my absolute favorite restaurant in Prescott. We are there at least once a week and love the relaxing ambiance in the bar side of the restaurant. Shana is amazing and even when crazy busy, she and the rest of the crew are attentive, polite and serve the best prime rib in town. The salad are amazing as are their appetizers. We were here over Thanksgiving weekend with some family. We had the backroom. Murphy's has a great vibe when you walk in. It was great to see it busy inside. We all arrived and our server was there to help right away. Took our drink orders and provided us with bread (which was really good). Many of us wanted the prime rib, but heard they were almost out. They opened at 4PM and it was 6PM for our party. So we were a little bummed. A few of us opted for steaks and pork chops. I will say that the sides were great. I had a baked potato and it was cooked to perfection. Sadly, that's where it ended for the main course. My steak was pretty bland in flavor. I ended up using salt on it (which I should never have to do). The steak was pretty rare. I had ordered it to be medium. I only ate about half of it. I gotta say that we did do some carrot cake and it was DEE-LICIOUS. Also, I had a bite of the bread pudding and it too was great. Great service, great desserts, but the meat wasn't. My cousin recommended this spot for dinner on our visit to Prescott. I called to make a reservation for our group of 6 and was told they had nothing available for our desired time slot, but they could get us in an hour later at 7. We arrived early at 6:30, and they were able to seat us. It was pretty busy and can get crowded by the host stand; there is no room to wait anywhere. This is definitely one of the nicer spots for dinner in town. Nice ambience. The service was very good. It may be a bit pricier than other nearby establishments, but I felt it was worth it. I ordered the 8 oz. prime rib with a baked potato and salad. Everything was very good. The portions were very large. I was convinced they brought me the wrong size prime rib, because it seemed much larger than 8 ounces. It was a perfect medium rare too, and the horseradish that accompanied it was creamy but with a good kick. My cousin got the catfish, which was three large breaded filets. My dad liked his poblano mac 'n' cheese and his wedge salad. My 6-year-old nephew is currently in a phase where he will eat only fries and grilled cheese. They did not have a grilled cheese on the kids' menu, but our server and the kitchen were very obliging and made him one! After tax and tip, my meal was $40. Well worth it for the quality and portion size. I would certainly return for a nice meal if visiting Prescott again. read more

This was one of our favorite Restaurants and we loved their Happy Hour menu and the Dinning Room Full menu was Great! Recently their Happy Hour and Dinning Room have changed greatly! Their Prices have gone way UP and their quality has gone way DOWN! Rumor is they were sold and the new buyers are all about the profit cutting corners and quality. We went to Murphy's for Christmas Eve dinner. What a disappointment. We ordered fried calamari for an appetizer tasted like it was from the supermarket. Bland and uneventful. My steak salad consisted of a small amount of mixed greens, a few tomatoes, some pine nuts and blue cheese and a scant few pieces of steak that was nothing but gristle. My husbands Ahi Tuna was low quality and not tasty at all. The meal was not worth the price. $114 before tip for an appetizer, small salad with gristle, a small Plate of Ahi and two cocktails. Murphys has a very nice decor and atmosphere. I like their comfortable private booths, and service is excellent. It's just the food that is lacking. I have found this to be true every time I eat there. The menu is promising but everything falls short of being quality, really good tasting food. its Just ok. I recently had lunch there with a friend because she wanted to go there. I had a large burger. The meat seemed to be of lower quality, fries we're coated with something that seems more like Applebees, homemade bread wasn't good tasting. Dessert just Ok. This place has so much potential. The core food choices are good but the drink preparation left much to be desired. The menu said mimosas are included but the waitress so they weren't. The mimosa was made with poor quality champagne and oj. The drink order had to be remade due to inattention? The Irish coffee was unbalanced and tasted terrible. We celebrated a birthday in December at Murphy's so decided to return in February for my spouses birthday. The two visits couldn't have been been any more different. For as much as they charge this should have been perfect but it was far from it. First off. My $49 New York strip steak ordered medium rare came in well done and tasteless. The server tried to tell me it was medium but I didn't go for that so the manager came by and said it was medium well. No pink in it at all. They eventually took 1/2 of it off the bill and yet never mentioned the birthday dessert that I got in December without asking. All in all it seems they are getting by on their past glory days. Murphys is very expensive so be forewarned and don't settle for mediocrity in their food or service. read more

When I look at Yelp reviews for an establishment I go right to the one star reviews. There were several one star reviews from this year, so I was not going to go there. Then a friend told me about a 50% discount this month for seniors, so I figured for that much off it would worth risking a bad meal. Four of us went yesterday for lunch. The place was very busy. We all found the food to be very good, and our server was excellent. We were also very happy with the portion sizes. Murphy's now has four new customers. We will return often. read more

We have been here numerous times over the years. I really wanted to have a nice filet last night and decided to go here. My husband ordered prime rib med. rare. He said the flavor was good b it seemed as if it had been cooked and then warmed back up. My filet was a little hard to cut. It looked beautiful on the outside side , I asked for medium, it was definitely rare in the center, which I can eat. It was definitely chewy. Disappointed When I treat myself to a filet I expect it to melt in your mouth.You had a choice of a side, but I thought I remembered getting a small salad and choice of a side. $$ 150.00. FOOD POISONING..... I am not one to write bad reviews but I had to say something.... First of all, I would like to thank my waiter Harris for outstanding service. None of this was his fault and he was absolutely amazing & so accommodating. I'm so sorry I didn't have cash to tip you... otherwise I would have. But my entire bill was voided, and I only had a card to pay with. The manager never came to talk to me. I was extremely disappointed with that. PLEASE beware of the food here.... They don't know how to cook whatsoever.... I immediately rushed to the restroom after I got my entree to violently vomit. I ordered the escargot and sirloin steak. The steak was extremely undercooked and tough. But still being a newbie to steak I ate it anyways. Miserable mistake..... I assume it was a mix of the snails and undercooked steak that did it. It came with a side of baked potato which was very dry and cold. The salad was also not very fresh. I asked for tortilla soup instead of the salad. It was decent. I was hoping by the reviews this restaurant would be a good pick but I guess i was just unlucky tonight. I have worked multiple restaurant jobs and I am very saddened by the kitchen and management staff of this place. I am visiting from out of state & now sick and throwing up in my hotel room.
