We had no trouble finding a bar-side table and were promptly seated. Beverage orders came very quickly, and we sampled our appetizer, the steak bites. Outrageously good. One of the oldest bars in the nation! Since 1877 this place has been a bar. We had a local cider, the Backcountry burger, and Caballero chicken. We enjoyed everything. It is on the historic register and is a Prescott point of pride, it was neat eating here. Only negative is that they are very busy so there is a wait and service is spotty. My family came here to eat and everything was great, especially the service. The entry has old fashioned style swinging saloon doors. Despite the restaurant being in existence for many years, everything was clean and they clearly take care of the restaurant. They have a menu that has something for everyone. I got a turkey sandwich without the turkey (cheese sandwich) and unlike some other restaurants I've been to, the server made me feel like it was no problem and my food arrived perfectly. The food here was overall good as well as the ambiance. I did love the way the place has the classic saloon feel and the set up from the saloon doors as well as decorations. The service overall was fine too as there wasn't much to complain about there. The only issue with the service was we didn't get our appetizer until the end of our main course. The other main complaint I have with this place is how dusty it is on the ceiling fans. The ceiling fans need to be dusted or have a swiffer on them as there is plenty of dust that is on all the fans. And when they activate them that can be concerning as dust could land in your food so watch out. In the end, this is a fun place to check out but the parking can be a problem as there is no parking near and the traffic is always backed up in this part of Prescott. Finally, the main complaint I have with the food is the portion size could be better for what you pay for here too as most of what we ordered did not seem to match the price what we paid. read more

Very historical spot. Stop by in the town of Prescot on our way back from the Grand Canyon. This place was recommended by a friends since my husband mentioned wanting to go to a saloon. Upon arrival you walk to the middle of the restaurant to see the host. We were seated right away in the bar area. I ordered the steak bites and whisky tacos. I would definitely recommend the steak bites. They were well seasoned and crunchy tacos on the other hand were OK. The service was good. Our waitress was also mending the bar, which was a little busy. The atmosphere was definitely old west vibes, and the workers are dressed in that sort of attire. The Restaurant had a lot of historical features and memorabilia. Nice spot to check out if your into history. We decided to do a day trip from Chandler to Prescott, I had heard about this place before and have been wanting to try it for a while, the place is pretty neat inside and in the bar area is seat yourself and the saloon area you have to be seated, the "host" honestly was rude af since my elderly mother (mind you we were in town for her birthday) made the mistake of saying salon and not "saloon" in which he snapped at her "a salon is where you get your hair done" not sure if that was an act or just his wonderful personality?! He sat us at a table that was pretty bright from the sun coming through the top (even though there was a flag covering it) everywhere else was pretty dark in there, we were hungry and didn't want to complain. Our waitress was kind and we received our food pretty quick, the burgers are huge and my Rueben and onion rings were fresh and tasty and we ended up taking 1/2 the burger and 1/2 the Rueben for later, I'm sure we will be back and next time we will go up the stairs to the balcony and enjoy our lunch. I absolutely love Prescott and wouldn't mind living there someday, the little shops along whiskey row are some of the cutest and the workers are so kind and helpful if needing anything. Service was average-- my water glass ran dry a couple of times and it took our server a long time to come back and take our food order after taking our drink order. My four friends and I made a 6:45 PM reservation for a birthday dinner and arrived a few minutes early, excited for a nice evening out. Although our reservation was confirmed, we were told there was no table available in the main dining room and were instead seated in a back room near the kitchen, which was disappointing for a special occasion. One of my friends politely asked whether there might be a wait for a table in the main dining area. The manager, Corey, responded in a noticeably irritated and dismissive tone, making the interaction uncomfortable almost immediately. A few minutes later, he offered to move us to another table in the main dining room, and we simply asked for a moment to discuss it so we wouldn't inconvenience staff by moving unnecessarily. When my friend went to let them know we would accept the table, the interaction escalated further. She calmly explained that we felt the earlier communication had been rude and mentioned that we were there celebrating a birthday. The hostess stated Corey was likely stressed because it was busy, which we understood, but being busy does not excuse speaking disrespectfully to guests. Shortly afterward, Corey approached our table and told us we would not be served and needed to leave because my friend had supposedly "yelled at the hostess," which simply did not happen. No one in our group raised their voice, threatened staff, or behaved aggressively at any point. We were respectful throughout the entire situation. As we were leaving, my friend even apologized to the hostess if she felt uncomfortable and clarified that her frustration was only about the situation, not directed at her personally. To make matters worse, while we were standing outside deciding where to go instead, Corey came outside and told us he would call the police if any of us came back in. The entire experience was honestly shocking and humiliating. We came to celebrate a birthday and left feeling embarrassed and unwelcome over what began as a simple seating question. I understand restaurants get busy, but the way this situation was handled was completely unprofessional and escalated unnecessarily. read more

This place is really cool, so much history, and it's supposedly haunted. We came to see the bar that was saved from the fire in 1900, enjoyed the old timey decor, and asked workers about hauntings because The Palace was featured on an episode of Ghost Adventures. We stayed for dinner and we're seated right away, it was pretty busy and very touristy. I ordered the smothered chicken and my husband had the pepper burger and an old fashioned. Everything was excellent, we asked our server about any ghost sightings, she said a man dressed in cowboy attire was walking around the dining room, then towards a display case against the wall and then walked through the wall! It happened the day before I came in, I was bummed I missed it but it must have been exciting to those that saw it. I highly recommend a visit here. read more

We Yelped several places but decided we wanted to see The Palace with it being the oldest continuously operating restaurant and bar in Arizona. We looked at a menu and decided to eat dinner here. It was Friday night and busy. They were short wait staff and said it would be a while before they could seat us. We found a table in the bar and ordered drinks and the host came up and said if we didn't mind sitting next to the bar he would seat us there and the bar staff would take care of us. Trey whom had taken our drink order in the bar became our waiter. Our drinks arrived and we ordered dinner. There was a great selection on the menu and we ordered dinner When it arrived we were very impressed. I had ordered the half rack of ribs and they were fall off the bone fantastic. All of us were extremely satisfied with our meals. This is a 1901 building and business and the staff is dressed in period costumes. I love the palace! I've been coming here for decades. The menu could use a few lighter options. But the service is wonderful, the ambience fantastic, but I'm writing a review because they usually have the best shoestring fries. And today I went and they were just soggy, subpar funky fries that we're not good at all. But I'm hoping it was just an ordering issue because they were also out of crayons, and like two other dishes. Stopped in for lunch on Sat afternoon over Memorial Weekend. Place was very busy and after being seated our server said to be prepared to wait quite a while for food. He was very pleasant, costumed in western attire and took our order. I used the restroom ( very clean ) to wash my hands and found a different waiter at our table explaining we were his table to wait on and there was a mix up. Ok - well his service was abysmal! He brought food and then had to be asked twice for a water & ice tea refill. Restaurant emptied out and he was nowhere to be found! Finally I flagged down a busser and asked him to find our waiter as we were ready to pay and had been sitting waiting with empty plates for 15 minutes for check. Who knew that this was the oldest bar and restaurant in Arizona?! Or that Doc Holliday was a patron back in the day? Stepping into the Palace felt like a time warp for sure! All the staff are dressed in what I can only describe as "western attire". Our party of three ladies came in on a Sat evening (early, too! Like 5:00 pm) and it was a packed house!! Wait times were quoted at 2 plus hours... since we were visiting from out of town, we figured we were going to be waiting for a while. All of a sudden, one of the hostesses/servers says to us "I'm gonna seat you ladies right here at this table if you're okay with that" (table in front of the host station) and we were absolutely floored!! Talk about a random act of kindness?!!!! She was truly a saint and we couldn't thank her enough for the rest of the night (and of course, we tipped her even though she put up a fight!) On to the main entrees, for the price point and the quality of the meal that you get, it's no wonder the Palace is a can't be missed spot when in Prescott!! Bullet ridden holes in the ceilings attest to something nefarious! I wonder if there were dancing girls on the balconies and piano player by the bar back then? But, besides any potential hauntings, fabulous era melancholy and history, the place oozes with prompt, courteous and professional service, the aromas of both cooking and grilling in the background, hugeness and vastness of space, and an incredible array of eats. This is a place where you can not only drown yourself and quench a thirst in great whiskies and ales, but a huge assortment of vittles from their extensive menu. The likes of: Palace Corn Chowder - delish; Southwest Grilled Chicken Salad - really fresh; Buffalo Wings - scrumptious; Southwest Loaded Skins - terrific; Buffalo Burger and The Palace Campfire Burger - might be the best burger in town; Bonner's Roast Prime Rib - tender and delish medium rare; Mesquite Pulled Pork - tender and superb.
