We went on a Wednesday evening. Fire and Sword is hidden away under the famous Hotel St. Michael. It has great atmosphere, clean and friendly weight staff. The musician for the night was so nice and chatted with the small crowd. Because it was mid week, it wasn't busy at all. The dre is were very good and their whisky menu was huge! I can't wait to go on a weekend and enjoy the atmosphere. When you go, there is a major part of history right at the entrance. An underground runner that some had to use to get to the bars.. A decent enough bar, but a speakeasy feels like a bit of a stretch. The Point (across the street) definitely feels more speakeasy if thats the vibe you are going for. Fire & Sword is technically in a basement, but has a huge lit logo projecting onto the street and the stairs and sign are lit all the way down. The room itself is rather large, with tables that you might expect to be able to eat at (vs small and cozy.) However, if you want food, you'll need to either order to-go from upstairs and bring it down or make other arrangements. As for the drinks they seem to be focused on whiskey/rye/bourbon drinkers, so if you are into those, maybe check it out for that. We went on a Thursday to have a group of girls get together and the live music (while good) was so loud you had to yell to hear the person directly next to you, so conversation wasn't really an option. Again, a fine bar, but being billed as a speakeasy kind of gives you a different impression of what you are going to get. read more

Meh. For a real speakeasy vibe, go across the street to The Point. Fire & Sword attracts the tourist/street traffic which may be why the bolo tie wearing bartenders seem bored, jaded, and impersonal. I love to visit speakeasies. This one did not disappoint. They have an extensive drink menu with many good options! The ambiance was what I think of for a speakeasy. Our server was great as well as the live music. We especially loved the table we sat at. There was a mirror in the bottom of it that gave the optical illusion of going down a ladder. read more

Love the underground thing. They bill themselves as a speakeasy. Quite loudly, with a HUGE lighted sign outside. Its really a sports bar in a basement. And speakeasy's are supposed to be secret. Just sayin. They need more cocktails on the list. They have a good selection of liquors to work with. I did not try any food there, so nothing to report, either good or bad. Went there and watched the Tyson Paul fight. It was a loud fun party experience. I'd probably come back and try it again. read more

First, it wasnt' anything like a "speakeasy" of days past. It was very bright, for a Friday night there were not many people there. They had a female singer/played guitar, she wasn't very good. This place is nothing short of amazing! The ambience gives the perfect speakeasy vibe, with live music that was the perfect volume, delicious drinks at great prices, and speedy friendly service. We had the best couple nights hanging out here. Huge shoutout to the staff at Fire & Sword. We came in on a Friday night and were having such a lovely night enjoying the live music (Jacqui Foreman was incredible!) when a strange man approached our table and sat down, and really creeped us out with some of the violent things he was saying. I informed the bouncer Sean what was going on and as soon as we were safely away from the man Sean took care of it. While this was happening The bartender Nate was also awesome, he came out from behind the bar and stood with me while my boyfriend was in the bathroom which made me feel very safe. Our waitress Angelique was also amazing. She took such great care of us, was super attentive and made sure our drinks were never empty. The way they handled the situation, the top notch service we received, and the atmosphere of the speakeasy, and the great music persuaded us to come back the next night. When we arrived the next night Sean, Nate, and Angelique all approached us at one point to say hello and follow up on the night before which we really appreciated. McKell was our waitress Saturday night and she was fantastic as well, taking great care of us and keeping our drinks full. The staff at Fire and Sword is terrific and I am so grateful for the experience they provided. I will recommend Fire and Sword for years to come. Thank you to everyone who made our experience so delightful! We don't visit Prescott often but when we do return we will absolutely be making a stop here! read more
