Veterans, people with disabilities and service animals... stay away. I was forced to leave due to my medical alert service animal for I refused to be forced to seat where bartender wanted me to on a clear violation of the American Disabilities Service Act. Female bartender was insulting and disrespectful. I asked her for a refund, refused. Security was rude but turned polite after I explained. Regardless I was forced to leave. STAY AWAY. Unfortunate a nice place ruined by rude bartender and discrimination. read more

Please read before you go. This happened December 17th 2025. This is honest review and I hate doing this but I need everyone to know. The bar will steal your money if they know your drunk. This is what happen My husband and I walk in to bar. Ask for a beer and a lemon drop, "Kaileena MA" asks cash or credit and my husband says cash. Immediately after he asks for his total and she goes "ummmmm $20". For ONE BEER AND ONE SHOT. My boyfriend hands over 23 cash and says it's all yours. She did not bring my receipt back and i grow curious. Later on i ask for my receipt and she brings back $7 and says oh my bad i totally forgot to check you from the system. She knew she was guilty, I knew she was. She tried using my husbands drunkness as a handle. Could give 0 if I could. Must add, after he gave the money she ignored us for 20 minutes until I asked. read more

We walked by several bars and were drawn to this one the most. Not only was it the busiest, it had the best music playing. They have a great selection of booze, even a Heine Zero for our pregnant friend. The bartender was really friendly and made sure we didn't wait long. We came on a Monday night. Yelp should have a zero stars because our experience at this place was horrible . My friends wanted to see the band "Well Dressed Wolves" play at the Bird Cage Saloon on June 6, 2025. So our group of six friends found a table to accommodate us to sit and watch the band . My husband had bought alcohol and bottled waters for us . These bottled waters clearly had a Kirkland label that indicated they came from Costco. Note- We happen to be locals here from Prescott , Prescott Valley and Dewey. We all have attended this bar in the past numerous times and never had issues before . The door guy/bouncer with kind of long scraggly hair , facial hair and a set of "CRAZY" darting eyes came over to our table with assertiveness and had the audacity to ask us " If we brought those water bottles in? We were shocked and offended of such a question . We responded with an adamant "NO" . Informed him that my husband purchased them from the bartender . Then 15-20 minutes approximately, we had another rude bouncer employee that was bald headed , stocky in build and lacked attractiveness approach us and asked me if we brought those waters in? I was upset and angered that again we got questioned about bottled waters . I told him we already were questioned about the waters from the other staff door guy and why are you asking us again ? I said to him my husband purchased those waters from the bartender . He was downright rude and was unprofessional. He then walked away . One of our friends , went to address this matter with the female owner ( Jill) . Informed the owner of the harassment that we were receiving from her poorly trained rude staff members . Minutes afterwards, baldy the bouncer comes over to our table and tells us the owner (Jill) wants us all to leave. I flipped those loser bouncers the bird and said a thing or two outside for the way they treated us . It was uncalled for and so unprofessional . They mistreated , harrassed , and interrogated us over Costco bottled waters that we bought from there . I don't recall last year encountering these to rude staff members . The door guy from last year was very friendly and nice . Unlike these two who think they have a badge to bully patrons . It's a BIG disappointment that these current owners of the Bird Cage broke their promise to the previous owners (Stamm family ) that they will do their best to preserve its name and reputation. Don't PATRONIZE this bar if you expect to get treated with respect , kindness and quality customer service . read more

Last Friday night, June 6th, 2025, our group of friends wanted to see "Well Dressed Wolves" play. We have been here several times in the past over the years to see different bands. I was shocked how the two security guys treated us when they saw the 3 bottled waters at our table of 6 and interrogated us twice if we brought them in, when in fact our friend purchased along with whiskey from the bartender. The others bought beer, wine and cocktails. I'm a designated driver and my beverage choice is bottled water. One of my friends was bringing up the issue to the female owner who was present about the mistreatment of her two male security staff. Then a few moments later the same two security guys told us to leave the bar by the owner's request at the bar, just because of our purchase of bottled water, wow! Don't patronize this place because the security staff will harass you about the bottled water when they're unaware that their bartender sells the Kirkland (Costco) bottled water! There are far better bars on Whiskey Row that will treat you with respect than this dive. read more

Stopped in for a drink on the Saturday afternoon following July 4th after shopping the festival vendors across the street. The place was hopping at midday. (It's located on Whisky Row). I was alone, so able to find one spot at the bar. It's a very unique looking, casual but comfortable huge bar. I ordered a vodka and ginger beer with lime. Very good & decent pour. The prices were extremely reasonable. I'm not sure if they had food or not. I wasn't given a menu or asked if I wanted anything so I'm not sure. This place has a lot of character. Fun just sitting in there and looking around at the walls and the decorations. I recommend stopping in if you're in the area. Make a note... Bring cash as it's a CASH ONLY business! read more

Total cowboy dive bar in DT Prescott, AZ. Beware - CASH ONLY! We did have a great time in here listening to Felix Los Gatos ((from Albuquerque, NM) band play. I stopped in with some friends to grab some drinks and Bird Cage delivered. It wasn't too crowded during an afternoon, the drinks were poured well, and we enjoyed the time spent. The ambiance fits with the surrounding locale - this is the infamous Whiskey Row we are speaking of. A bit on the darker side with the mood and colors, animal wall mounts, and a long nice wooden bar make up the ambiance. Seating includes sitting at the bar and one of the many tables with bar stools. There's a stage where they play live music, a TouchTunes juke box, a TV or two and a pool table. Something to make note of is that it's a cash only establishment. read more

Had to visit since this is on Whiskey Row...just missed the Sunday afternoon band (I was told was good) and it was emptying out. Fine for me! I don't need a crowded place to have a good drink and chill. I was pleasantly surprised to hear Blues Rock come on, my favorite And it was fabulous. So, leave it up for a chic to notice- their collection of wild turkey shit up high was perfectly clean! Whao! I'm amazed that my drink isn't coming with moth balls. (I think that's a plus, just in case you can't read my intent) The hunter theme does well with the painted nudes of real size 8 women, plus a modern flatscreen with football on it (see pic). at home you can find your modern contemporary joint with stuffy service.. the bartender here was great- made a great drink with a twist and checked in on me. I'm going to be completely honest: Is it possible you might not have the best experience at the BirdCage? Yes, it is possible. After all, it is an old-school "Cash Only" locals kind of bar. Longneck beers, tequila shots, and whiskey on the rocks are king here. That's not to say the bartenders cannot whip you up a tasty frozen margarita, or tap up a craft beer pint, toot sweet. But, if you order a Pousse Café or ask for a "Drink Menu" you just might get met with a 'are you kidding me?' kind of look. With all that being said, the question really should be "How likely are you to have a great experience at The Bird Cage?" The answer, in my opinion, is pretty damn likely! Just remember you are in a REAL small western town bar that is steeped in history going back decades. It has even 'Risen From the Ashes Like The Phoenix', literally; and still operates in the traditional way. The bartenders here are attentive, but on a busy night you better not be bashful about pushing up to the bar to order. You gotta stake your claim, have your cash ready-in-hand and speak up! What you'll get is a good free-pour drink at very fair prices. Far less than big city Happy Hour prices, I'm here to tell you. Last time I bellied up to the antique carved wood bar and ordered a scotch-and-soda, the bartendkeep slid it front of me and called out "three fifty!" I threw down a five and replied "keep the change!" He smiled and thanked me. I smiled back and drifted into a feeling of genuine Americana-satisfaction that, sadly, is almost extinct; having been replaced with corporate, Disney-style imitations. The Bird Cage is not that! It's the real deal. Your experience expectation should not be based on those faux places either. And then... there is the LIVE MUSIC. The Bird Cage is THE bar that tries to keep that old-school Whiskey Row music vibe going. They host an OPEN MIC Night with Don and Trudy, which features both local amateurs and professionals. They also do a Singer/Songwriter With Dave Whitley night where anyone who writes songs can get on stage and share their art. Recently, touring artist Mr. Tyler Preston treated the patrons to his awesome style, following his engagement at The Raven. Don't forget that there is live music on Sunday afternoons, too. Friday & Saturday nights are full-set live bands suitable for getting down and cutting a rug with. The live bands often include top notch indy touring bands like The Amanda Fish Band and Kara Grainger from Australia, and well as AZ favorites, like Llory McDonald and Combo Deluxe, or The Crown Kings. Big Tip for Party People: When The Crown Kings, from Phoenix roll into Prescott, you don't want to miss it! They only play at The Bird Cage. OK, I've waxed poetically long enough. Since I've spent many a lost weekend here, and an occasional weeknight too, come to think of it, I just had to put my thoughts down on YELP. Tourists beware!!!! We are vacationing here- law abiding citizens spending a lot of money here. We are both 70 and my husband has a service dog because he is a brain tumor patient. We wanted to experience a Whiskey row bar so we went in and sat at a table by the door. Within 3 minutes the owners aggressively approached us screaming and swearing - telling us to get out - that they do not allow dogs. I attempted to show then his collar but they continued screaming and swearing. The owner said even if he is a service dog i want you out of here! I was standing and the male owner shoved me toward the door. I had to go back in to get my phone- i I walked back out and about 4 visibly drunk patrons who were outside smoking were attacking my husband- one had him in a headlock and the others were hitting him! Someone broke it up. Seems my husband had gently pushed the female owner who was being abusive. He was wrong but this was off the charts insanity! . We called the police but did not press charges as we have no witnesses. And the lying vigilantes all defended one another and the owners. Shame on all of them! When i yelled that he has a brain tumor as they were attacking him- the female owner screamed back "i have a brain tumor too!" How perverted is that!? Saddens me greatly. read more

OK I understand that you have your rustic you're in the stall Jake bars you know to make it look like it's back in the 1800 and to make it feel like it but please at least dust and clean up the dirt and the built up that's on the walls and the pictures just because you're looking trying to look rustic doesn't mean you have to have real dirt that stuff annoys the heck out of me because when you have allergies and asthma as badd as a lot of people do that stuff really affects your breathing and you can't stay long in these places read more

Four patrons in the place when we walked in and sat down for 10 minutes while the tattooed female bartender stood at the end of the drinking a coffee cup and chatting with another female. Horrible service. The guy greeting at the door as you come in was first encounter and rude. Then went in, they weren't busy. Sat at a table then went up to place drink order. Older lady behind the bar was beyond rude and disrespectful! Guess that's a thing to employ at this joint? We met a lot of nice and friendly people downtown Prescott but this place is a definitely skip.
