I highly recommend The Clinkscale to anyone in Jerome, as its high ratings are justified. The food is a little pricey, but the quality is outstanding. In my opinion, The Clinkscale has the best breakfast tacos I have ever tasted. Everything tastes fresh, and I like their coffee, too. Their other menu items look great as well, so I will have to try another food item the next time I am in Jerome. I like how the atmosphere makes you feel like you are taking a trip back in time, as the building has been around for a while. The best part about The Clinkscale, however, is the service. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and more than happy to offer suggestions. I remember when my family and I went up there a few years back, and our server, Jeff, made us feel right at home. The other staff members are also great, as they make everyone feel welcome within the establishment. I have been back there a couple of times since then, and I have had a wonderful experience each time. Fantastic! Atmosphere had a speak easy vibe. Service was impeccable! The music was a tad loud for a restaurant. Hubby ordered the double cheeseburger with fries. Ambiance was perfect for this mining town and it was clear they were used to handling a full house. A somewhat disappointing experience overall, especially given the other glowing reviews on here. Maybe we just caught them on a bad night after a holiday weekend? Of course Jerome, AZ never disappoints as far as location goes and the restaurant IS cool, located on the ground floor of a late 1800s hotel. Service was ok, a little slow but fine. The 16oz "wood fire grilled" ribeye was seriously poor. This entree was 59.95, which isn't unreasonable at all for a good steak, but we've had better quality steaks from Walmart. To make matters worse, it had mushrooms that were in some kind of sweet sauce, maybe Marsala, all over the steak. It also had herbed butter on it, which had potential, but didn't mix well with whatever the sweet stuff was. It was weird and just not good. I'm not in the habit of sending back food unless the order is actually wrong. This wasn't wrong, it just wasn't good. The other entrees were average as well. Sprinkling flower petals and putting garnishes on the plate doesn't mask a poor quality steak, sorry. The pricey-but-not-worth-it streak continues. :( read more

We went on the Verde train ride today and our waitress, Cricket, recommended this place when we asked how far Jerome was and if it was worth the trip. Jerome is a cool little town and a quick 15 min drive from the train station. My wife and I had an excellent dinner here. There was metered parking up front but we got free street parking a block away in front of the theatre. Their tomato and poblano chili soup was delicious. We both had a bowl. My wife had it with grilled cheese. I had the 8 oz, steak with some delicious mashed potatoes. The steak was well made and juicy. We shared most of the steak and it was enough food for both of us. You've got to also try the pastry desert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was excellent. Ty, our waiter was also great. Excellent service all around. The restaurant has great views from the front and is in a classic 100 year old brick building with an amazing interior. Thanks for everything. read more

A true gem in the heart of the quaint heart of Jerome . Was recommended by my inn keeper and it did not disappoint . The bartender crafted me an expresso martini made with bourbon and cinnamon creme it was the best I've ever had , and I'm pretty picky about them . Initially we had dinner reservation at 5 but we had time for lunch and due to weather we opted to have quick small bite for lunch and cancel dinner. We weren't too hungry since we had late breakfast. Ordered the grilled&chilled shrimp and tossed caeser salad. Staff was friendly and restaurant was pretty packed specially after it started raining. Now presentation of the shrimp dish was done nice, and dressed up fancy . Shrimp was pretty darn good with flavor and nice grilled char on it. Cocktail sauce and I think server said garlic aioli for dipping were yummy. Casaer salad was pretty good and had plenty of salad dressing mixed into it. I wanted the try the peach cobbler but time did not work in our favor. Now over all food was pretty good and service was pretty good. But for 6 shrimp for $18.95 seems over kill. That's $3 per shrimp they were decent size but not that big. Over all food was good and atmosphere was good (but it is a bar so it can be very loud). I thought more than once the men on the staff need handlebar mustaches but that may have made this quaint atmosphere with 1899 vibes, ragtime music playing softly and modern fixtures, kitchy. The staff was kind with the right "attitude". Conversational but not chatty if that makes sense. Didn't stay at the table too long but also didn't act like you're unimportant. The food here ranged from good to amazing for us. Let me tell you about it... Truffle fries: My preferred fry type is skinny and the were just that. Skinnier than McDonald's but not to where they became crisps. Parmesan reggiano was shaved throughout the cone of fries not just on top. They come with a garlic aioli that taste more like a lemon ranch sauce but was still delicious. Get 2 orders if these abd eat them all. Artisan grilled cheese and poblano tomato soup: Soup was creamy and could definitely taste the poblano. The grilled cheese went 50/50 amongst us. The 2 who didnt like the grilled cheese was because of the goat like cheese on it. The sort of sharp sour flavor was off putting. Eggs Benedict with grits: The birthday girl prefers a runny egg and wasn't given the option, however the Canadian bacon on the bene was a hit abd left room for the star of this plate, the grits. Perfectly cooked and flavor was a 10. Gives the fries a run for their $$$. Chicken fried steak: Was said to be really good, specifically the texture. You know I dont eat beef so didnt taste it but it was enjoyed. Lemon ricotta pancakes: Huge pancakes that were tasty and carried the lemon flavor heartily, however the best LR pancakes I've had melt in your mouth and did not need syrup or sweetening. These didnt and were good with syrup. The blueberries on the dish were amazing, large and sweet. Basil grilled chicken sandwich with side salad: EXCELLENT sandwich with clean basic ingredients. Thin slices grilled chicken was not overly cooked. The 1st half was good warm and the other half just as good when I ate it cold at 2:00 am. Side salad was a spring mix with spinach (I think) and a white balsamic dressing NEED to know the name of orange how to make it. This salad would change my daily diet and overall health as I would eat it everyday! The Clinkscale has a well earned rep so wax your 'stache before you EAT and DRINK here. read more

Walk. Don't run to The Clinkscale to get the cast iron skillet 8oz filet mignon. I say, "Walk," because I don't want to actually let anyone know just how good this filet is. Salt and butter cooked medium rare is typically the not-so-secret key to getting a decent filet but the way this filet is seasoned here is savory but also somehow also a hint of sweet. It's the yin-yang balance of filets that you didn't know you were searching for all of your life. I included two photos of the 16oz bone in ribeye that my husband ordered because the smaller ribeye was cooked medium well and we were surprised and sad and weren't going to say anything, but our funny and adorable blond waitress with glasses (I forgot her name!! eeeek), gasped and said "Give me, give me give me" with out-reached grasping hands as she quickly remedied the situation and they returned with a bigger ribeye eye cooked perfectly medium rare on the rarer side and gifted us with a side of a mashed potato purée that all of our group of friends tried to steal from him once we tried a bite. The restaurant is on the smaller side and we didn't have a reservation, but only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table at the front window to open up! The space is very welcoming with a beautiful square open bar. I ordered a Southwest sangria to drink which was white wine with pepper infused vodka and topped with jalapeño and cilantro. I think the brioche bun took away from the sandwich a little bit because there was a large bread to toppings ratio, but nonetheless it was still really tasty. The drinks were fire- we tried the mango margarita, French 75, and a dirty martini with hands down the best blue cheese olives I ever had- dinner and dessert were all delish!
