Updating as I was back here again and they still did not disappoint!! Everyone in my group enjoyed their food. The mustard for the pretzel is amazing!! You still can shard your plates it is that much food. This time it was more quiet during the lunch hour. Our server was amazing and super friendly The decor is very fitting of a German setting. They have tables with chairs and benches

Taking a trip to the area for work, or on the way back from the Berkshires, I try to stop by Munich Haus. I first came here years ago when I wanted needed somewhere interesting for dinner after a work trip. With Boston having a dearth of German restaurants (or New England in general), you might have to find the best German food in the state in this area (I should try Student Prince sometime). I typically get the Bavarian platter or the Jager Schnitzel. The platter is traditional German food's greatest hits. The various sausages are flavorful and have a nice bite. The schnitzels are fried nicely and definitely recommended. The mushroom sauce with the Jager schnitzel is savory and rich. The beef goulash is hearty with a zesty tomato flavor. Really nice touch that homemade potato chips come included with meals. The portions for everything are rather large and prices here are quite good, especially in comparison with Boston prices. Service is generally attentive and polite. During the Christmas season, the restaurant is decorated appropriately for the time.

Seems the service has fallen off at this spot. The last two times we've came it hasn't been the same it was in the past. Service is slow, and the aim to cram as many people in the place as they can. I shouldn't be touching people at other tables when sitting at my table, should I? This last time we were sat in a room where a party was taking place, 40 lid and obnoxious people there for some event. Hardly an enjoyable meal. I think we will go back to Student Prince, a much better experience.

Super fresh German beer and delicious chips & dip

Having grown up on German fare, it makes me sad that we have none near our home, a couple hours from here. So, whenever we find ourselves out in this area, we try to stop for a delicious Bavarian meal. We were promptly greeted & seated by friendly staff dressed in traditional drindl dresses. The decor here feels like it's right out of the Bavarian Alps - perfect! As soon as seated, we were greeted with a comp bowl of house made chips and dip. Delicious! The Weihenstephaner Hefeweiss Dunkel was remarkedly fresh - as good as we'd expect in Germany. We ordered a Bavarian Platter and the Pretzel Crusted Chicken. The platter was massive! A taste of everything traditional and more than half the platter came home with us. Such a fantastic bargain! The chicken was a fun surprise - tasted just like a Bavarian pretzel with a delicious mustard sauce. We didn't get to check out the beer garden, but it looked interesting . We hope to get to return soon to try it.

Another awesome experience at The Munich Haus. Absolutely love this place. I'll let the photos speak for themselves. The service is brilliant too. They treat you like family here. 3 Thumbs Up & 5 Stars from us :)

We recently had lunch at Munich Haus while passing through the area. Great service. They served fresh chips and onion dip after we were seated. One of my sons ordered a chicken schnitzel (wiener style) with spaetzle. My other son ordered a giant pretzel, nurnberger sausages, and a bottle of rootbeer. I ordered a chicken schnitzel (with jager sauce on the side), roasted vegetables, and mashed potatoes. All was fantastic.

incredible German beer list to go with authentic menu!

Munich Haus is a gem! My partner and I stumbled on this last year on our way up the coast and this year decided to stop here just so we could eat at Munich Haus again! I loved the atmosphere, the food is incredible and the cost is way too reasonable for that quality. The entire experience is a pleasure; they're super friendly here. The schnitzel was absolutely perfect and I loved how the salad dressing with Roquefort blue cheese was mixed right at the bar, where I was dining. I highly recommend stopping in Chickopee just for this restaurant!

Always good and the service is excellent! They are so nice and kind. I love the authenticity of the food and employees. Not sure where you can find better German food. They have extensive list of beers on tap. The amount of food you won't be hungry.

I came with my daughter and a friend and we enjoyed our time while there. Their iced London Fog was amazing! I see why it's a big hit. My friend got an iced coconut latte and she said it was delicious and coconutty (I am not a coconut fan so I did not try it.) The breakfast sandwiches were very good as well. I got my usual, bacon egg cheese on a croissant and my friend got the sausage egg and cheese on an english muffin. Both were very good and very fresh. I love that they have books for you to purchase for $1 - I am curious if they take book donations, that would be cool as someone who has too many books for their good but doesn't want to just toss them :) I did not see a wine list, so I'm wondering where the wine bar part comes in - but then again we did go at 9am so -- no wine makes sense. Would definitely come back - it seems like there were a few other options in the little 'village' it was located in and I'd love to come back, walk around, and check out what else they have to offer.

My least favorite thing about this sandwich was that it was incredibly dry, you really need the coffee to wash it all down. It had so many elements that should have been moist but all were overcooked so it was just not a $9.00 sandwich. The coffees were delicious. I got an iced vanilla latte and it was sweet and creamy and not too bitter nor too sweet, right in that perfectly balanced spot. My wife got a hot mocha which was chocolatey and yummy, she just wished it had stayed warmer in this cold Massachusetts climate. The coffee price was comparable to what we pay at coffee shops in Seattle. The service was quick and there were lots of different kinds of tables to sit at inside.

We've been here a couple of times now, and I always look forward to returning whenever I'm visiting the Berkshires. I ordered the chicken, while my significant other ordered the duck, and both were outstanding. Everything was truly done to the nines. I couldn't have asked for a better meal, and we thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The portions were also generous, which I really appreciate given the price point. You're getting a substantial meal that feels well worth it. The service was just as well done. We felt well taken care of throughout the evening, and our waiter was attentive without being overbearing. My only complaint is that I wish Alta would open another location and move to Boston. I would absolutely make this a regular spot!

What made the experience even more special was the hospitality. That level of customer service is rare and speaks volumes about how much they care about their guests. Using grapes shipped from CA and mixing with apples crown on site, this small batch operation is a delightful stop. The space is small but offers a variety of options to hang out and enjoy their wines and ciders - inside by the fireplace, outside on the screen porch, or outdoors on the patio. The "vineyards" were sad and disheveled, and the apple orchard looked worse very seriously neglected. The apple trees were very old, untended to and rotting, the trails were poorly maintained, the parking was a disorganized, and the grounds looked like nobody was taking care of them. The amount of junk round the building is staggering, not a place you want to buy food or drink from. The "food" is not fresh or made onsite it's just overpriced groceries. We only stayed here because my daughter had been so excited and we had traveled out of our way to get here. We made the best of it, but I could hardly find enough decent apples to fill the bag we had already purchased. Many of the apples had dark, greenish spots all over them: a fungus that you can see my photos. When I asked, "Do you still have pick-your-own?" it was because the trees looked practically empty from where we were standing. Walking through the orchard confirmed that impression: there was very little worth picking. We were there during prime apple season where all other orchards are overflowing with apples; even so we went to the very farthest trees at the back of the orchard; rotten, fungus, and very few trees producing fruit. I should have read past all the drinking reviews to the heart of the matter: unkept place absolutely do not go here. Looking around, the whole place is run-down and neglected. Honestly, I felt sad for the trees and grape vines. This was an overpriced, incredibly disappointing experience. If you're looking for somewhere to drink wine, maybe you'll have a different experience. But for apple picking, I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. An absolute mess, and I won't be back, it was the worst orchard experience I've ever had.

The three of us were seated an uncomfortably narrow small table. The restaurant means to sit 4 at these tables but they are really meant for two people. The folly of this size table was evident as soon as the food arrived. Homestead's menu is heavy on small plates and we ordered one starter, 5 small plates and one pasta between the three of us. The larger plate menu (meant for 2) has only four items..a chicken, a fish, a meat, a vegetarian. They were out of the fish. All of the dishes basically arrived simultaneously. There was no room on the small table for all of the dishes. Kind of ridiculous to try and maneuver. So we hurriedly finished off a couple of dishes so the server could make room for the dishes in her hand. I can't imagine if we had four people at the table and they tried to fit 8 dishes on the table. They really need to time the arrival of the dishes so that we can enjoy and leisurely eat..not rush through them to make room for the more on the server and chef's schedule. The food? The ratatouille was delicious as was the Caesar salad. The arugula salad was fresh and satisfying. The salmon crudo was small, expensive and kinda weird. The butternut cavatelli with lemon and chicken was a wee tiny portion for $17 that was gloppy and without the advertised crispy skin. The $15 octopus was one tentacle in a spicy mush mosh. The charred shisito pepper starter was undercooked and came without the advertised sea salt. No bread offered. The wine list was really nice and fairly priced. The house wine was tasty at $5.50 a glass. All in all, disappointing but promising. The small plate emphasis will cause bigger than anticipated tabs. They really have to think about the size, comfort, and utility of those narrow rustic tables. And they need to stagger the arrival of the food so that customers are not rushed through their meals with all the dishes crammed on the table at once. Some nice traditional plates of food for one person (not everyone loves the sharing schtick) priced from $18-26 would be great. Homestead has promise but right now the attitude, and narrative outweigh the product and experience.
