We had a delicious family dinner at Munchie P's. We came in with a large group, and the staff was incredibly friendly. I must admit we did not eat much variety of food- everyone had a gyro except for my dad who ate a burger- but everyone loved their meal. They gyro plate is definitely a deal as you get everything for two gyros plus fries- great for splitting or having leftovers for the next day. The restaurant was very clean, with plenty of space for many customers. We were there on a Tuesday night and there were many other families present. A place like this should be open 24/7 -- it would be perfect at 3am! At lunchtime, a little less perfect. Typical Chicago sandwich shop, the hot dogs were good, but nothing outstanding. Big menu, small shop. Most negative thing I can say is that there is not near enough parking around this place, so you may want to get here early -- or late for lunch. read more

MK and I have said countless times that we need a good Gyro place near us. Until that time, we're on the never-ending quest to find good ones. This past Saturday (09/06/08) we headed up to Munchie P's and were really happy. MK finally tried a Chicken Gyro which comes with lettuce, tomato and honey mustard. But she opted to get it with the traditional Tzatziki and was a happy girl. I had the regular Gyro and was a happy bunny as well. They serve up crinkle cut fries and service was quick. Look this isn't a glamorous place, but it does the job for a quick take-out/eat-in location for your Gyro fix. We'll be coming back to try other things....or maybe not, just to have Gyros. read more

Good place for cheap food, the best on the menu would be the lemon chicken or the souvlaki. Gyro, dogs, beefs, all pretty average. A few "should skips" would be the sub sandwichs, I had a nasty old salami meat one, the salads (wilty) and the fried fishes. And lot of the food gets dumped from a bag into a fryer, eh, the excellent exception would be their corn dogs! A nod to good customer service, nice staff, and after discussing the bad sub with the manager (owner?) I was refunded for it. read more

I have been here a couple of times when I visit Geneva. Today I tried the chicken Ceaser Wrap. I wasn't expecting much from a hot did and burger place but I was pleasantly surprised. Munchie's is one of my favorite fast food establishments in my area. I highly recommend the gyros, wraps, and burgers. The gyro sandwich features a generous helping of meat; however, if you get the gyros plate you have enough to share or for another meal. I love the juicy succulent steak in the steak wrap and the burgers are juicy with a nice beef flavor. The hot dogs are nothing special but one compliments a burger or pizza puff nicely. Even though I miss the old divey building, the newer set up is improved. read more

Wow, this is an eatery that doesn't get much public recognition: probably because the locals don't want you to go there and make it more crowded than it is. Everything there so far has been delicious: the burgers, gyros, reuben, greek salad, fries, beef hot dogs and italian beef sandwiches. There is more on the menu I can't wait to try and you can't beat the prices. Not a fancy place, or the easiest to find parking, but worth a stop anyway! read more

Let me start off by saying that you literally can't go wrong regardless of what you order here. I've been coming since I was a kid and have graduated from hotdogs to my same old same old, Italian beef with mozzarella, fries and a Pepis (the only place I like Pepis, oddly enough). Everything is made from scratch and place is owned by a Greek family that still cooks with traditional methods/recipes. Sorry, but it's places like this that motivate you to eat salads. A previous reviewer put it perfectly: "underwhelming". Absolutely nothing special about anything on their menu. I like to support local businesses just as much as the next guy, but when the food is as bland and blah as theirs, I just can't do it. I suppose if you have just moved here from northern Canada or something it might be OK, but this is Chicagoland - the standards here are the highest when it comes to flavor and quality! It's a one-star place without question, but the food we ordered (both times - the first time we just assumed somebody had made a mistake, so we went back a second time a few weeks later...found that it wasn't a mistake) was definitely hot, and the staff was perfectly nice, so I suppose that's worth a second star. read more

Nostalgia can only take you so far. Apparently this place has been around for a while, as it was obvious while we were waiting for our order, several "regulars" were in there talking it up with the staff behind the counter. The problem with nostalgia is it can interfere with your taste buds. I admit, it's happened to me before. The food here is fair, somewhat overpriced, and the staff was underwhelming. Nostalgia may overcome these things for the long-time regulars, but it had no affect on me. I ordered the chicken gyro, which was probably the best tasting thing among us. It was a fairly hefty portion, spiced nicely. But at $8.95, not worth it. My wife's italian beef tasted like it was soaked in a brine rather than a marinade, the saltiness of it was pretty overwhelming, and there was a lot of fat and gristle in the sliced beef. Not good. The kids ordered a hot dog and corn dog, neither which I sampled, although the corn dog seemed extra greasy in the paper it was wrapped in. But who knows. After I made my order, I was basically just given my receipt. No thank you, nothing about when it might be ready, how I would know it would be ready, or anything. We just kinda wandered over to a table and hoped for the best. When the order was ready (your number is the last 3 digits on the receipt or something..), our tray was just slid out, and as I got it, was thrown 3 or 4 small ketchup packets. Again, no thank you or anything, And these ketchup packets were for 4 orders of fries. Upon asking for a few more ketchup packets, you think I was asking for a free meal. Conveniently as well, the soda dispenser is behind the counter, so I'm guessing no refills on your soda, which is loaded with ice. I try, try, try as best as I can to support local businesses, and if they are good (or better), I will come back to them as often as I can over any large chain restaurant. But with places like Portillo's, Bueno Beef, Beef Shack (a great local place in St. Charles), all within 5-10 minutes of this location, this place unfortunately doesn't make the cut. read more

I LOVE their gyro wraps. They are beyond generous with their servings. You could easily share one with 2 other people (well, girls anyway). The prices are very reasonable. Went to the Stratford location this afternoon for lunch, and it was amazing. Ordered the chicken kabobs, a salad, and rice. VERY delicious, and the salad with fresh feta and kalamata olives was completely authentic, along with everything else. People seem to be thrown off by the prices, however you truly get what you pay for here with fresh and authentic EVERYTHING. excellent lunch. Looking forward to going to the one in Geneva! read more

Every time we come in to visit family, we stop here. Their food is always hot and fresh. It's cooked to order. I always get the gyro and sweet potato fries w a diet mtn dew ( which is rare to find diet dew on fountain). My husband always gets the beef w cheese & sweet peppers. So tasty! read more

My wife and I have become fans as of late with Munchie P's, especially their gyros. We have lived in the Tri-Cities area for many years and have been happy to find a new place. We were anxious to show them off to our kids tonight. Unfortunately, we waited 25 minutes for our order - much more than we expected, especially when the place was not crowded. Some of our food was cold when we got home. A bit disappointing. We aren't giving up on Munchie P's, but hope we have a better experience next time. read more

Good food. Terrible service. First time I went, they shorted me a 1/4 chicken (they charged me for it). I got home (about a 15 minute drive) to discover my missing chicken. I'm a reasonable guy and the food was tasty (we got like $40 worth of stuff, the Gyros was great) - so I called and spoke wit the owner who said he'd put my name and number down and that he would credit us our 1/4 chicken when we went in next time. That was acceptable, but in my opinion he probably should have done more than that, considering the extra inconvenience and fact it kind of ruined our family dinner. But it was fine. At least he made a good gesture. Fast forward a couple months. I called to order dinner for my family again. I ordered a bunch of stuff and then reminded the girl about the chicken they owed me. "I don't see any note here" she said. But the owner was there so she put him on the phone. I politely reminded him of the missing chicken. He had no recollection and then said that there was no note and that "I have notes here that are very old, so old they are falling apart, but nothing for you". Now, at this point, he could have just said "but it's okay, I'll credit you the chicken anyways - sorry for OUR MISTAKES (PLURAL). But no. That does not happen. Instead, he does not offer me anything or apologize. I'm VERY INSULTED by his behavior which implies that I'D LIE ABOUT A STINKING 1/4 CHICKEN WHEN I'm ABOUT TO ORDER ANOTHER $35 of food! I'm really insulted by this. A piece of chicken that's like $2 cost to him and he's not even offering to make good their previous error, and compounding matters by what I see as an insult, like I need to lie to get some free chicken. Never going back there. Mistakes I can forgive. Arguing with me and implied insults... I can forgive too - but that doesn't mean I'll go back. read more

Our favorite burger place since we moved to Geneva 10 years ago. We discovered Munchie's while we were rehabbing our house two blocks away, and it's been our go-to ever since. Great for burgers, gyros and grilled chicken sandwiches. We've always found them to offer good and fast service, for dining in or carry-out. I brought a cousin who was visiting from Europe there last year and wanted to try "a real American hamburger". She took one bite and said it was the best burger she'd ever tasted in her life. Stopped In for dinner of gyros. My memory of their gyros from several years ago exceeded what we got today. While not bad, they were not awesome either. Just middle of the road.
