I've been going to mulligans for three years now and I've always enjoyed the scene, the people, the staff, and the drinks. If I had left this review over a year ago it would have been 5 stars, however tonight I'm extremely upset about something that have accrued with the new manager. My friend had lost her card at mulligans the week before and had been coming in and just entering her card information and that is how she had paid for drinks. We came tonight 5/7/23 and she had asked if she could get a pen and paper to write her card number down and the lady who was serving us has said "I can but I won't" we thought maybe she didn't want to go through the hassle of typing it out so my friend had said "okay I'll just ask the other bartender" instead of the bartender explaining to us as to why we couldn't do it she said "I'm actually the manager here and if someone did that here I'll ring their ass" we felt uncomfortable so we left and went to this bar liquid had a few drinks and wanted to come back since that is our regular spot but 2 minutes after we get in the bouncer who knows us tells us that the manager told him we have to go and he doesn't understand why since we're here all the time. We asked if maybe we could talk to her and get the misunderstanding fixed and he said said with the way that she is it would be pointless and to try another time. We found out her name is Tiana and I do have an uneasy feeling it may be more than just my friends simple question. Maybe if she had explained her reasons for not doing to instead of attacking us it would have been resolved within 5 seconds but we ended up getting booted from our regular bar from years. read more

This was my first time going into Mulligans, and what I thought was going to be quick beer stop between places turned into the centerpiece of our evening. I bumped into my neighbor who sat and had a beer with us and met a few new interesting characters whom I am scheduled to play monopoly with later. The beer is higher quality than the place looks and the food very good for a divey type bar with billiards and the golf video game. It's pretty good. read more

One good thing is the jukebox... you can download whatever. The downside of that, the bartenders can change it if they don't like it. Which isn't often, but the crap they let play... let's just say their taste are less then substandard. Lots of pool tables, lots of my ex-boyfriends, yikes! The carpet smells wrong and I do regret having a push up contest there, mainly because I touched the carpet.... ewh. read more

The most active dive-ish bar in boise. The music is erratic and people watching is champion grade. The pool tables are well used, the staff are friendly, the bar food is what you would expect with a bit of originality thrown in, and unless you get blackout drunk and get yourself kicked out or try to swipe someones pool table while theyre taking a smoke break (if there are quarters on the table, find another table or wait) you should have a generally good time. read more

It is definitely divey, but in a fun way. Don't look at the floor, just watch the guy trying to jump up onto the bar with both feet at once. OK pour of Guinness. The hamburger was fine, cooked just right, messy with BBQ sauce as expected. The fries were fantastic, no grease detected, hand cut, not crispy but not limp, inside done just right. The cook said they had a new kitchen manager that thinks "bar food" should not be mediocre, and the cook seems happy to be there. The bartender was friendly and attentive. One time Jake didn't wear a hat, and chaos ensued. I would highly recommend a NO HAT policy because of how much his hair affected the women. Pretty much no one could handle themselves because of the sharp cut and lusciousness of his unexpected mane. 10/10 would hair again. read more

I really like Mulligans as far as chill bars downtown goes it's one of the least douchey or club-like college bars you can find. I like to stop in once or twice a month for a drink. Every Tues night is 2for1 can you say HELLO? Awesome deal. The bartenders and the doorman are always really nice and helpful. One of my favorite things about Mulli's is there are like 10 pool tables, and best of all, they have a pretty decent sized menu with food that is actually GOOD. Granted it's bar food, but not nearly as shitty as you'd imagine. Had a few different things now and can't complain about a single one. Tasty stuff. Def one of my fav low-key bars. read more

I like this place and they have great drinks and service! Also the pool tables are pretty nice ($1) and usually available or don't take that long to get. The only frustrating thing is the music, it's based off of a juke box that people can easily override and screw you over with their poor music choice. If you're paying money into the juke box you shouldn't have to wait an hour to hear your music read more

Mulligans is one of the best dive bars in town. They have pool, darts, shuffleboard, and other video games. They also serve some food...I don't remember what but it was good drunk food. And best of all there are always interesting people to strike up and conversation with. read more

It should never affect the customer when you had a "bad close" the night before. it is never your customers fault when you get their order wrong. There is not an acceptable situation to tell your customer that the reason you're not sympathetic to their order being part burnt and part cold is because the Order always seems to have something wrong with it when you come in. and it is also never acceptable to hear the cook swearing and calling other employees names why he's taking double the amount of time it normally takes to process your order read more

A drunk chick sitting next to us was telling us stories, she had been there for a while and was basically yelling over the speakers....I guess she was celebrating Thursday or something like that. We were doing an exotic car rally (Bullrun), and one of our stops was in Boise. This was one of the few places open when I finally got up from my recovery nap...hahaha! It's a small bar/pub, with the typical karaoke, pool tables, etc. happening inside. The food was ok, and the atmosphere was eh. I can't say that I'd come here if anything else was open, but it did the trick and kept the hunger monsters at bay that night. read more

This was our last bar for a Monday night outing. Definitely more people here than the other bars but not really to our liking. A few pool tables here and there and some video games...they did have a menu selection that looks pretty appetizing after some drinks. Otherwise, looks like a decent fun place to go but we didn't really care for the atmosphere all that much. Not sure about the drink prices or specials. This bar is ok. Ok at best. The heat was on, so at least I wasn't drinking a beer while freezing. I asked for a grub menu and the waitress just never came back. The music is pretty bad. The crowd is right on if you're a single, mid thirties person or 21 yr old with a local click. read more

Came here on business for two nights and I asked the guy at the front desk of the hotel for a good bar with some good decent bar food. I was in luck. It was a Tuesday for the '2 for 1' drink special and I got the chicken quesadilla appetizer (recommended by the bartender). Absolutely fantastic. Brings me to my next point...the bartender, Kelly. Being from Chicago, Kelly is by far the best, most experienced and friendly bartender (or even server for that matter)...I have ever experienced. I love Mulligan's. It can get loud sometimes, but it's still pretty easy to have a conversation without yelling at each other. The atmosphere is fantastic, the alcohol is good, and the jukebox is amazing. read more

I love Mulligans. I try to avoid the douche bag crowd of sixth and main and this is a great alternative. You get the occasional jerks down there but most people keep to themselves. It's a mostly alternative crowd and has a reputation for being a bit more rough than it is. The service is a bit slow but well worth it. Drinks are normally pretty stiff. This isn't a dance bar, but you'll meet the more interesting people here. You'll also see the occasional patron drunk dancing to some ridiculous song. read more

Fun place to drink a 40 oz of PBR with everyone who seems like they'll be your friend

I went to Mulligan's on Tuesday for 2 for 1 drinks. This was my first time going to any Boise bars since I turned 21 in January. The night started off well. I didn't think it was super busy but my local buddies told me that it was a busy night. I don't think I've ever waited so long for a drink. The bar is double sided, and there was only one bartender working each side. You'd think they'd be better staffed on one of their busiest nights. I really enjoyed the heated patio area out back. Anyway, I bought 6 pints of PBR (6 total, since it was two for one). When I went to close out my tab, I noticed that they had charged me 18.50 for the beer. If I am correct, a pint of PBR is $4.00. This means that my total should have been 12.00. Additionally, they charged me $3.50 for some rum well drinks that I never ordered. When I approached the bartender, I was obviously somewhat frustrated. He kept telling me to "chill out". When he turned around to correct my tab (after some convincing) he was visibly talking about me to his co worker. Overall I liked the atmosphere of the place, but the wait to get a beer, the overcharging, and the rudeness of the bartender really turned me off. I'm guessing that this is an isolated incident, but I will probably never return to this place. read more

This is one of my favorite bars. You can catch me on the golden tee machine nightly. Great Downtown atmosphere with out any of the six main drama. Crowd is younger and the music is loud. Definitly check this place out if your down for a great bar with good people. Maybe play on one of the "seven" pool tables!!!! Or play some buck hunter. Oh don't forget to try something off their bar menu. Everything is fresh which is rare for anybar to have and nothing disapoints. read more

Was staying at a downtown hotel and decided to go in for a couple of beers Friday evening Dec 8th around 8 pm. The only bartender was running his rear off because it was so busy. He had welcomed me and and introduced himself as Stewart. Twice in one hour he had to run to change kegs that went dry. I felt bad for him because he was so busy but he ran around that bar to make sure everyone got there drinks without to much delay and always with a friendly smile. When he came with my next beer I asked why there was only one bartender on a Friday when it's so busy. With a smile he said there would be another bartender at 9 which was about 10 more minutes. Sure enough at 9 not 8: 59 but 9 another guy gets behind the bar. This guy I could see from the second he got there was a total jerk! First thing I noticed he looked like he hated the world and didn't want to be there. Started throwing things around then came over to were I was sitting and switched the rubber mats that were at the service bar for different ones then looked at me with a frown and commented how lazy the other bartender is! I couldn't believe what a was hearing. How dare he make a statement like that to me, a customer and he had no idea what he was talking about. I knew right then I just met the biggest asshole in the bar. I watched him for a short while showing pictures from his phone to some people at the bar while Stewart continued running his ass off helping customers, imagine that concept! I stopped Stewart and asked him what the story was with "shit for brains"? He didn't tell me his name but said he had worked there for over 20 years. I finally had to leave because I couldn't sit there and watch that other guy with his "Hakuna Matata" shirt his girly ponytail sticking out of his backwords cubs hat be an ass all night. Sunday my wife arrived in Boise and I took her to Mulligans but told her if that one asshole bartender was working we were out of there. Lucky for us he wasn't. My first time here was a lot of fun. I am not the one to typically like dive bars but my friends said this place was cheap. The first bartender we had was great, the other guy who came in later in the night with the PBR hat on was rude and the service was not great from him. My boyfriend and I had one tab going, between the two of us we probably had about 6 drinks each, three of them being mixed drinks. The rest was beer and white claws. Keeping in mind this place is supposed to be cheap the two of us walked out of the bar with $180 tab before tip. This was a bit shocking and when I asked for a print out of the break down of drinks and cost on a receipt they said that the copy they gave me is what they had. I have never been to a place where the break down is not on the receipt. I think there may have been a mix up which is why I am only giving this place 2 stars. If the service was better from the second bartender and the pricing of drinks were listed somewhere or they would have given me a breakdown of the receipt I would have given this place 3-4 stars read more
