Hi, welcome to my review. Mughal's food is very good. I wouldn't say all the items are extremely good but there good. What I like is the bun kabab, mixed grill, goat biryani, kabab roll, chicken handi, nihari, garlic naan, and rice pudding. I definenlty recommend trying these items. They also have a lunch and brunch buffet options. Feel free to check out the buffet if it looks appealing before you buy. I wish there plates were disposable or more clean. They have a good size parking lot since they are located in a plaza with other stores and restaurants. They have a event hall next door. It's not huge but good for small events. They also came out to clean out our table which was nice and left our tab open till we were done. I highly recommend this place for some good indo/pak food. What you need to know: If you're looking for a no frills, solid South Asian food spot, Mughal's is for you, but if you come for lunch, ordering off the menu might be better than the lunch buffet. To my knowledge they're really known for their Butter Chicken, Brains dishes, Chicken Samosas, Biriyani, and Gosht. Heard a lot about this place and it seemed to have near-cult status among some of my friends, so since I lived nearby, decided to check it out for my Grandmother's birthday and see how it faired. Lunch Buffet: I opted not to have the buffet to try some of their more popular dishes off the menu, but my aunt and mom did. They weren't super enthusiastic about what they had, but did say that the chutni's were good, as were the pakoras. They said the rest was just ok such as the nihari, seekh kabob, chicken curry, and Dal. To me it seemed like it wasn't worth it for them at $9.99 for lunch. Food: We decided to order variety of stuff to try out what Mughal's has got to offer. I'll say their menu items are pretty good quality, and definitely good portion sizes (even with 3 people eating we ended up taking most of the food home). First, we ordered the Chicken Samosas which were super fresh and crispy, yet very flavorful on the inside. We also got the Chicken 65, which I thought could've been a bit crispier, but definitely was seasoned well and very flavorful with the chutni that came with it. For main courses, I got the Butter Chicken which was amazing - not super deep in spices but definitely still rich in flavor. We also ordered the Brains Masala which was interesting - I thought it didn't have much of a good or rich flavor to be honest, but they cooked the brains perfectly so as to have that silky texture which was nice. Additionally, we ordered the Bhindi Masala, which is basically an Okra Curry. It was decent, but nothing to write home about. All of this came with some of the fluffiest Naan I've ever had - definitely a notable item there. Lastly, we ordered their Gulab Jamun (donut-ish balls immersed in sweet syrup). I thought the syrup was ok and that it was way too sweet for me (and that's saying something since I have a huge sweet tooth), but that's essentially what the dish is and everyone else seemed to enjoy it. Service: Standard counter service. Seems like if you want the buffet you just sit down, go grab plates, and start at it. Didn't really have anyone come up to us or say anything when we walking in. If you want something off the menu you go up to the counter, order, and they bring it to you. You pay after you're done. I will say that when she wasn't taking phone orders, the woman behind the counter was very friendly. Nothing else to really say about service. Ambience: Seems like they're currently remodeling their larger banquet/events hall, so there was a lot going on when you enter. The restaurant portion that was open was pretty small, not ideal for parties larger than 10 I would say. Super casual spot, you'll see people of all types come here, whether people stopping by from the office, or more religious types dressed in traditional garb. Standard tables and chairs. Price: I'd say the prices are fairly decent here. My butter chicken was $8.99, which I thought was maybe just a bit more than I would like to pay, but still fair enough. Most expensive item on the menu is $13.99, so regardless you won't break the bank here. Parking: It's in a shopping center, so in theory parking should be ample. They even have dedicated Mughal's spots right outside so you can avoid the Hibachi parking mess from next door. The shopping center is situated super weird though, so you might have to walk a bit if either Mughal's or the Hibachi spot is packed like around lunch or dinner times. All in all, I'm disappointed that it's taken me this long to try Mughal's when I've lived down the street for years. I'll definitely be back, but will make sure to skip the buffets from now on. read more

I love Mughals! I've been coming to Mughals with my family since I was Nine and now I'm 23. You do the math. If it was bad, I would have stopped coming a long time ago. Like LONGG TIME AGO. I am Pakistani myself so when I say there Nihari is yum. It is YUM! we usually come here for the Nihari and Bun Kabobs. We also get Haleem. and we have gotten Behari kabobs in the past. But nothing beats there Nihari. For the amount of times I said Nihari on this review, I should be given 100 bucks. One of my favorite Desi dishes is Chicken 65 and I'm always in search of restaurants that have good Chicken 65. I've asked Praveen R about restaurants that serve Chicken 65 and he recommended The Mughals. I wish I've gone to The Mughals earlier. It's not far from my house and my family often go next door to eat at Hibachi Grill and Supreme. I keep seeing signs of $9.99 lunch buffet on weekends so I finally decided to go there. I was a little disappointed to see such a small variety of food on the buffet. For some reason, I'm thinking more options like my other favorite Indian restaurants like Sri Krishna Vilas or The Palace. Keep in mind that The Mughals is Pakistani food. Most of my non Desi friends prefer Pakistani over Indian food because of the variety of meat dishes. A lot of Pakistani restaurants also offer halal meat as well. Even though the buffet seemed small, the food is really good. I do not remember the names of the food because I didn't pay attention but it is really good. The naan is really good and buttery. I have to say that The Mugals have the best biriyani I've ever had. I ordered mango lassi to go and it is the best mango lassi I've had as well. I came back to try Chicken 65. Just to update, they now have a bigger and much much better banquet hall, they has perfected their recipes and the efficiency in service is just awesome. I was here for a dinner party and there were over 350 guests. Everything was perfect. I usually don't hand out 5 stars just like that, but they are truly doing a very very professional job now. Noshaad, the owner and the COO, is always personally involved in all the parties and makes sure, everything is taken care of. The menu at the last night's party was: Karahi Chicken Qorma Nihari Bihari Boti (beef) - amazingly, crazy delicious! Malai Chicken Haleem Chana masala Naan Rice And in desert they had caramel crunch kulfi with coffee flavor. And of course, there was Chai (tea), which just made the whole thing "Perfect!" Please do remember, this restaurant offers true taste of Karachi Style, Pakistani food. Most other places offer Indian style food, (that I don't like that much). Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place despite going here for years. If you're looking for legit Pakistani food, this is it. It's greasy and really hits the arteries. Their meat dishes are what truly shine. I like their beef kabob roll which is in one of the greasiest parathas I've ever seen. I once ordered Chaat and it came with a hair in it, which they replaced & ended up making my meal free. Pretty rare for a Desi restaurant to own up to the hair and not try to blame the patron for it. If you are looking for some delicious Indian food near the Atlanta area, look no further than Mughals. The interior is not bad for an Indian restaurant. There are around 10 to 15 tables which is pretty spacious. For the food, I recommend the tandoori chicken, the seikh kabob, Bihari boti, chicken korma, and of course the naan. The price is a little on the high side, which is why I took off a star, and ocossionaly they will have an off day, but those are relatively rare occurrences. Overall, Mughals is probably my favorite Indian spot to go to whenever my mom asks what food I want to eat. If they could drop the price a little i would not hesitate to give this place 5 stars. read more

So it was my first time in Atlanta and my friend who lives here ordered food from Mughals. She ordered mutton biryani, mutton korma and beef nihari. Trust me, this food was amazing! Most indian/pakistani restaurants in US are not up to the mark, and the food tastes bland, but this one was PERFECT! The taste was so authentic, that for a while, I felt like I was in Pakistan and having the mutton beef biryani at someone's wedding. I mean, this is exactly what you expect from an indo-pak restaurant in America. Most food items at south asian restaurants honestly tastes like an amateur chef cooked food at home. No! That's not what we want, we want food that should taste like a restaurant food, and this is the place to get that taste I am talking about. read more

Vibe is pretty nice for a restaurant of this kind, saw a beetle crawling on the floor (not a roach) but the health score was a 91. First woman who took my order was a bit short and standoffish, the woman who later appeared was quite friendly, which was important given my 20+ minute wait for my bihari kabob. Finally it came, along with a single piece of glistening garlic naan, which really was the star of the meal...easily one of the best I've had and possibly the best. The bihari kabob was nothing I've had before, and after some googling I was expecting some spicy chunks of beef, with a steak kabob like consistency. What I got was something quite different, while flavorful, the meat was not at all spicy really, and had an almost crumbly texture, while not being dry that I couldn't quite put my finger on. The flavors were there, I liked the charred bits a bit more, but the texture was not my cup of tea. If this is a regional specialty of preparation, and you like it that way it might be exactly what you're looking for. The kabob was served with raw onions, lime juice, and a slightly spicy brown sauce. Since I was there during their buffet I asked to try a piece of cold chicken 65 (this is why I generally avoid buffets, specifically for fried dishes) the flavor was good however, but more cumin seed than anything. I'm giving this place four stars still based off of the naan, and what I think some of the other dishes have in store, quality levels are high and care is taken to prepare the food. This is not what the restaurant will want to hear but you guys put a BAD name to service. I came in with one more family and 3 kids all of them under the age of 3. Ordered food and waited a good 1 hour to get anything served to us. In the meantime we sat 15mins plus to have our table cleaned. Twice I called 2 different staff to ask for a highchair since we had 3 kids and there were only 2 visible chairs. The first staff (lady) said "WHAT" and walked away to never return. The second staff (male) said wait and went but never returned. So 2 staff went and didnt come back to give us a high chair while we waited an hour for food ro be served and a dirty table. And then after the dishes were served, our main item , the mixed platter was missing. I asked twice to different stafg again and was told its just about ready. Our meal was over and we fed 3 kids and the dish dint come. The front desk staff taking the order then informed me that due to some miscommunication the order was not taken and they are preparing it. I waited ankther 15mins with one kid in lap (no high chair) and food done. The dish dint come and so i requested it being canceled. None of the staff apologized or did anything in behalf to compensate in any way of all the problems we faced. Great way to run a business. Never coming back again. read more

My go to for authentic Pakistani food. I fasted the entire month of Ramadan and ended up dropping by multiple times during the month. Ownership always treats me like family, been going for 12 years and I still remember the day I accidentally left without paying since you pay after you eat. This was about 4 years back. I left and had just gotten on to highway 85 and called the owner, he was so understanding and said just pay next time, no big deal. Very humble people and they do a lot for others during Ramadan in particular. I will always be a true patron. Order nihari, biryani, Haleem and karhai. Keep up the good work bhaijan. If you don't have a passport but want to indulge in some khanna ghar (Hindi for "home food"), this is your ideal destination. Located in a rather shady strip mall in Norcross, Mughal is Atlanta's desi culinary heaven and the cuisine is as authentic as it gets this side of the Atlantic. If you're looking for elaborate decor, a full service waitstaff, and Americanized versions of Indian and Pakistani classic dishes, turn your car around and head South because you won't find any of that here, however, looks can be deceiving. While I can't rave about the aesthetics of the place, I have NEVER been disappointed in a meal that I've received at Mughals...and neither has my husband, and he hails from the sub-continent itself. Since it is owned by a Muslim family, the style of cooking differs slightly from that of the Hindus and it is slightly more oily however, contrary to the other reviews I've read, this is not so overwhelming that it doesn't allow for full enjoyment of the meal. If you want to skip the gravy-based dishes completely, opt for the "mixed grill" which is a fabulous tandoori and grilled meat platter that is divine. The saag paneer is also fantastic and very light -tasting indeed. The naan is huge, fluffy, and hot and the basmati rice is always cooked to perfection. Unlike other Indian restaurants, there isn't a "mild" option and while not everything screams mirchi and chili powder, it isn't for the faint of heart. For those of you with adventurous taste buds and a love for Indian cuisine, I highly recommend Mughals. For those who are slightly cautious and/or want a proper introduction to Indian food, I would suggest starting out elsewhere as this place may leave you with a mixed feeling about desi cuisine--a mistake you most definitely do not want to make :-) read more

My wife started traveling for work after we moved to Atlanta. So for the last 6 months on our way back home from the airport, we have been making our pilgrimage to The Mughals almost on a bimonthly frequency (usually thursday nights). After 20+ meals of feasting at Mughals we have shortlisted three items here that exceed other Indo-Pak joints in the area in terms of taste, consistency and value for money = Beef seekh kebab, Chicken booti and the naan. Do ask for raita if you don't get one. Three simple steps to yield guaranteed satisfaction: Step 1. Tear a piece of the crusty, hot naan and eat one bite just by itself Step 2. Tear another piece of the naan, break a chunck of grilled goodness, dunk it in the brown tamarind chutney and / or the raita and enjoy! Step 3. Repeat step 2 until completely satiated or plates are empty (whichever comes first :)) All joking aside, I sincerely hope that this simple meal will have the same effect on you as it does on us every time we dine here. I'm not sure why other Indo Pakistani restaurants exist when Mughals is right there. Their buffets are the talk of the town, full of your brunch or lunch favorites. Eveything is great here-- nihari, kabobs and kabob rolls, brain masala, karhai chicken, etc. They do well with big orders and pick up. Since they moved back to their original location, it can get crowded at peak timings, so if you have a big group, try calling ahead or just picking up. Their private hall is a great place to host an event, and their set up is unique and very classy looking-- bronze chafing dishes instead of the usual industrial steel ones. read more

One of the few places where you can get a bahari kabob. Got a beef and chicken roll as well. Everything was very good. Flavorful, tender, juicy, delicious. It takes about 20-25 minutes to get your food but like the staff member said on the phone (I was eavesdropping) "we cook the food fresh so it's going to take a little longer than usual." I have been here about 10 times give or take. Most of the time the food is outstanding. One time the food was just okay, and one time there some issues. But mostly it is outstanding. I usually can't stop eating. I love all of the chicken dishes and the naan is pretty good. It should be noted that there really isn't any waitstaff. You place your order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. Also, the food is very reasonably priced. Pakistani and Indian food is generally $10+ an entree, but many entrees at Mughals are below $10. The mixed grill is a little more expensive but it is very good. I like the chaat a lot too. The owner seems like a nice guy. He's friendly and usually comes to our table to ask how things are. He is also helpful for explaining any of the dishes. One time I accidentally ate an entire hot pepper and my mouth was on fire. He ran to the kitchen and brought me tamarind sauce and yogurt to ease the pain and didn't even charge me for it. Just to be clear, this is a Pakistani restaurant. It is similar to Indian food but different. For example there are many red meat dishes and fewer vegetarian dishes that you might expect at an Indian restaurant. I am an American and my wife is from India. She says there are a number of differences between Indian and Pakistani food. Honestly though, I can barely taste the difference. It's all great to me. Other minor things: canned soda only, no alcohol, plastic silverware and plates, Hispanic employees can be a little difficult to communicate with. Overall though, it's great food at a great price. If you like to eat extremely hot stuff this is the best place for you. They used to have the best Nihari in town but the standard has been constantly on a decline. More than a few times when I went there, I was served Nihari that was atleast 2 to 3 days old. And some of the other visits.... it was alright. One thing that this place is consistent about is the amount of oil in the dishes .... everything is really greasy here, how can you have kababs with that much grease is beyound me. If the food they are serving is not fresh, they will put huge amounts of pepper and green chilli to cover up and the result will be loss of the use of your taste buds for the following day or two. I went there Sunday for brunch (buffet). The place was packed. Atmosphere is nice, bright, and clean. But the food is a disappointment. There is not a lot to choose from and taste is okay. Items they have are haleem, nihari beef, goat, naan, and couple more. I don't see anything special about their food. Overrated for sure. Not coming back. I went to this restaurant for the first time for iftaar and dinner. They offered a dinner buffet for $15 and had dates, pakora, and fruit for iftaar which was included in the price of the buffet. They held the dinner in the banquet hall in the back which was very spacious and nicely decorated. In the very back of the hall, they had an area for prayer. After prayer, they brought out the items included in the dinner buffet which included: chicken biriyani, naan, white rice, chicken tikka, chicken seekh kebab, and many other items. I was very impressed with the selection, quality, and taste of the food. I would highly recommend going when they offer the dinner buffet and iftaar during Ramadan. read more

The restaurant is very very busy and they have only 1 dude to take order & order gets long & if you lucky you will find a seated... this location where pakis/North Indians spends lot of time to eat food & taking much longer for table availability... restaurant should have few more staff to control the guests and promptly seated. The Garlic nan is awesome. Mixed platter is OK not the best. But Biryani is really taste authentic. The restaurant is clean if you are a germophobic. read more
