It's in Global Mall, so I won't discuss the ambiance too much. Put simply, as with most mall food courts, it has its good days and bad days in terms of cleanliness and atmosphere. That said, this vegetarian restaurant is probably the best the mall has to offer in terms of taste and professionalism. Chaats and vadas/snacks are popular here along with Faloodas and other drinks. Pricing is reasonable. I would recommend if in the area, as most items taste great and you can't go wrong! read more

Mumbai Masala is a Vegetarian fast food center which is located inside the Global Mall on the first floor. I have been to this place more than once. They have all variety of Chaats, Veggie Thali for Lunch or Dinner. Very kind staff at the front desk and they are helpful. All food looked delicious and fresh. Very nice presentation and very flavorful food. I have tried Samosa Chaat and Pani Puri/Golgappe, both were very tasty and fulfilling. Samosa Chaat is the chopped samosas, pastry turnovers stuffed with potatoes, peas, cumin and spices with yogurt and chutneys. Pani Puri is the deep-fried puffed flatbread with chutney and mint water. At one of my other visits, I tried Vada Pav, the fried lentil donuts and the Cut Mirchi, a deep-fried chili peppers. Try these two if you have more room in your tummy. I would also suggest bringing a cup for water or order some Mango Lassi (a mango-yogurt drink), if you can't handle spice well like me. They have enough seating arrangements which is shared by other restaurants in the row. They have ample free parking in the mall area. The place is maintained clean and welcoming. The prices are very reasonable and affordable. Would definitely recommend and I will be back again soon. read more

I was torn about what to order to celebrate my one year anniversary of living in Georgia. My fiancé was already passed out for a nap and wasn't hungry yet, so he ended up requesting Papa John's later. After a few other failed attempts at ordering certain items from other places, I decided to give this place a shot. I haven't had Indian food in quite some time and really have not had much of it in my lifetime as my childhood home of Hawaii does not really have many Indian restaurants. The one I used to frequent closed down before I left last year also. I ordered thru GrubHub with no issue and the food was ready on time when they said it would be. This little food court restaurant is located upstairs in the Global Mall - another place I pass all the time but only now had the chance to explore a little. The lady who handed me my food was nice and friendly and everything was packed securely. The food court is open for dining with social distancing in place, but I just took my food to go. Overall, the mall was pretty dead anyway with this pandemic still going on. I ended up trying the Veg Thali which comes with basmati rice, raita - spiced cucumber yogurt sauce, roti, two different curries, and daal. I also ordered the paneer biriyani and samosas on the side. I love palak paneer and chicken biriyani, so I was pretty sure I was going to love paneer biriyani, but more on that later. The Veg Thali was overall a pretty decent choice. The rice was cooked perfectly and the yogurt sauce was a perfect balance to the moderately spicy dishes. I've had better daal before, but it was okay. I was surprised my favorite part about the thali was actually the bhindi masala (stir fried curry okra). I don't usually care for okra as it is usually prepared with it's slimy texture still in place, but this was good! No sliminess and the okra was stir fried and seasoned very well. The other mixed veggie curry also was good (it was mostly string beans). There was an extra yogurt sauce aside from the raita that I didn't recognize and couldn't find on Google. I'm not sure what the topping was as it tasted almost like the consistency of rice krispie cereal sprinkled on top. Whatever it was it was good though, and once again, helped balance out the heat. The roti was good, but I'm not sure why one extra burnt tasting one was included - it was crispy and overdone, not really palatable. The three soft ones would've sufficed. As for the paneer biriyani, I was very disappointed. The rice was seasoned and cooked well, but the paneer - the main reason I ordered the dish- was completely overcooked, dried out, and rubbery. If you didn't know better, you wouldn't believe it was a form of cheese. I honestly have had jerky that was softer, so this was sad. I'll never order that dish from here again and don't recommend it from here if you're considering it. Finally, at least the samosas were very good. I think it was the best dish of the three that they prepared. I love the brownish-red tamarind chutney and would put it on everything if I had extra. The other green sauce was also good, and the samosas had a good ratio of potatoes/veggies and seasoning. They were not overdone, but still had a nice mix of crispy outside and soft inside. Overall, I'm not rushing to come back to this place, but I'm glad I at least was able to try it. If I get anything from here again it would probably just be the samosas. read more

Global Mall (off Jimmy Carter Blvd) caters to a "South Asian" clientele, and the food court is unapologetically ethnic. So we organized a small UYE (Unofficial Yelp Event) to discover this place among a few other very nice finds in that food court. The food was tasty. This is Indian "street food," and you can get your chat or some samosas, or maybe a thali... It will be hot and fresh, and depending on the day, it might blow your socks right off. We had the sev puri (see photos). This dish was fun to look at and just as much fun to eat. It put a veritable symphony of spices and textures on the tongue all at once. And the bhel was delicious. Bhel puri is perhaps my favorite of all "chat" items. These folks do it right. Overall, I found the food court here to be fun, clean, and cheerful. This UYE was a great way to sample a ton of stuff without going completely broke in the process, and I look forward to going back for more. read more

One of my favorite dishes is Pav Bhaji so I'll grab a plate any chance I get. While Mumbai Masala has some pretty good food, their pav is far from my favorite. Not bad, but there's definitely better. Despite they're food, who doesn't love a good lassi. Even if you're just walking around the mall, I would highly recommend grabbing a lasso for your stroll. Ladies, you may want to wait until after your fitting for that lehenga before you grab one, but definitely get one to go before you leave the mall. Maybe two. read more

***NOTE: REVIEW FOR SAMOSAS ONLY*** After coming back from a hike and starved, I had samosas on the brain, so I hit global mall and gave Mumbai Masala a shot. Mumbai is a vegetarian restaurant and that takes care of lunch and dinner needs. What I needed was an order of Samosas though ($3.49). The samosas came with two pieces, and included inside potato, peas, lots of Indian spices, and there was a little bit of heat inside in terms of spicy spice. This was all wrapped in a fried outer crust/shell, that wasn't as crispy as i'd have liked, though in fairness, it was a to go order. The samosas also came with two dipping sauces (Mint Chutney and Tamarind). They were decently sized but just had okay flavor. They weren't bad...I just have had much better...in some instances, right inside Global mall. I wasn't a huge fan of the mint chutney, but I devoured the Tamarind. My order took less than 10 minutes to come out and they work by a number system, so check your receipt for your number and listen for them to yell it out over microphone. FYI, if you want to use a credit card, it's a $5 minimum. Mumbai Masala is in the global mall food court which is to the right of the escalators if you're getting off of them. Masala will be to the left of the food court, right next to Dawat express. I'll probably come back to Mumbai Masala because i'm also sure i'll come back to global mall for good Indian eats. They have a large selection of snacks for you outside of samosas, so don't let my 3 star rating scare you away. Give them a shot! read more

Chat house in global mall for quick street food. Samosa chaat, bhel puri, Sev puri etc. etc. etc. Have tried almost everything out of nostalgia for Indian street food. Actually more so here than in India because in India we grew up eating everything at home. That's the best way to stay healthy and avoid food and water born diseases. Thanks to our cautious parents we escaped all of them. I think there food is good and service fast but it does have a bit of a Gujarati chaat taste which is slightly different from the UP and Punjab chaat. I ordered Papdi chat my favorite which ended up tasting more like just choley but it was so great I didn't care to complain. Being Indian ...this is one of the worst place I have been to eat. The lady at the counter was so rude and not even trying to listen. The taste of food will be great but there is no hygiene in the food they serve. This is my personal experience today , I order PAVBhAJi it was ok not that great but after finishing the PAV I can see my plastic plate (use and throw ) is melted because of Hot PAC they kept it in plastic plate. Please verify with the picture I have uploaded. I though at least I should inform her about this but she was arguing with me that this is food court, we serve in this plate only , it happened it's normal , if the food is hot plate will get melted . They doesn't care for people or hygiene ..looks like they just want money ...whatever happens to people or customer they doesn't care. Please have 2nd thought before going there. read more

Four stars for an authentic Indian street food experience! Mumbai Masala is a vegetarian restaurant in the Global Mall which specializes in chaats, puris, fried snacks, and many dishes you will never find in the more popular Indian restaurants in the area. The chaats such as Samosa Chaat and Papdi Chaat are packed with fresh, savory and sweet flavors. The Bhel Puri and Sev Puri, also chaats, are wonderful dishes. I swear I was humming while eating the Bhel Puri on my last visit. I love the Dabeli, a Gujerati veggie sandwich. it is not much to look at, but it is an amazingly satisfying, spicy snack. Vada Pav, another similar Gujerati sandwich, is my favorite, which can also cause unbridled humming on my part. Among the fried foods are the usual savory samosas but also lesser known pakora such as Mirchi Pakoda, fried green chiles. The prices here are great, with almost everything under $5. Mumbai Masala is in a food court, so don't expect a fine dining experience, or even good service. All four stars of the rating go to the authenticity, quality and value of the food. read more

I had just got into Atlanta after two wks of home-cooked meals, and was craving something non-Korean, non-American, and cheap. Driving on I-85, I decided to check out the Indian food court located on the upper level of Global Mall. The food court has 5 choices - I checked out the menu for all of them, and decided on "Mumbai Masala" b/c it was the only one that had customers ordering at the counter. I asked the owner which dish I should get - he asked me if I like spicy or sweet. I said "sweet" and he recommended "Samosa Chaat" which is both sweet AND spicy. The $4.99 dish includes a samosa, chickpeas, raw onions, cilantro, sev, a sweet sauce, a spicy sauce, & a yogurt sauce - all mixed together. I liked that the combination of flavors were interesting (tasty too) - my only disappointment was that the samosa was obviously not "just done" & instead came from the fridge b/c parts of the samosa were very cold :( The outside shell was also very overcooked (dark brown). Now what did look very good was the "Puri" - I envied the table next to me that got a plate of very puffy-looking and "just done" order of Puri, in addition to another very fresh-looking plate of food ... maybe the owner recommended what he thought I would like instead of what they're most known for. Oh well - I'll be more clear next time. Global Mall food court is definitely worth a visit for adventure seekers (I was the only non-Indian customer) - it's got a similar vibe as the food court in the Chinatown plaza on N. Peachtree (where I usu. feel like the only non-Chinese customer). Afterwards, you can check out the CD store next door if you're into Bollywood music. This is the first time im posting a yelp review and it's mainly because of the customer service. The lady at the register is so rude and has no people skills. It's very obvious that she is very money minded and is just focused on making money on every little thing. I have had multiple experiences (4+) and she has been equally rude all those times. I once placed an order on the phone and it happened to be a very busy day. Instead of calmly explaining to me that they are busy she rudely told me that she can't take my order on the phone and hung up before I could say anything. I keep coming back to this place because the food is decent. Pav bhaji is pretty good and good chaat. However, after my most recent experience I doubt I'll be returning. I was there to get some kulfi, what I got was pre-packaged and tasted decent but the packaging was horrible, it was a task to open the package and a bigger task to figure out how to eat it before it melts. Global mall is a great place to get variety of food but its also dirty and sticky. That combined with rude service, makes it a place worth avoiding. read more

Please don't go. My mint lassi was just salt and yogurt. The food was not good at all. The service was great however.

I love Indian food. Period. I have been craving Desi food the longest time but just haven't had time to sit down and eat. I love the many spices, I do not miss the meat at all. Since I had to get my eyebrows threaded, then why not stop by the Global Mall food court and order to go? Masala Dosa is one of my fave dish but I didn't want to take a huge dosa home so opted just for samosas & pani puri. After ten minutes or so, order came out. Thankfully I don't live too far from Global Mall, so when I got home, I chowed down on the samosas. It was sooo good, I've had samosas before which I thought were just okay or not have enough flavors. I love the mint chutney the most but the tamarind one is just as good. I'll admit I was actually there for Krishna villas next door, but it was monday and most stores are closed then. We were given our lassis immediately and then shortly blessed with the samosas. I'm pretty addicted to this place and sometimes is the sole reason I trek up to friggin' Norcross! I always get the bhel puri (super spicy) and chana masala w/rice.
