The board says Udupi and having been here long ago we came back. We were not told that the management had changed - there was no indication at all. The menu showed Masala Dosa at 8.99 but the bill was for 12.99. That's so not how businesses should be run. They also kept playing music so loudly despite requests to turn it down.

I ordered the cheese masala dosa. It came with cheese and an onion/potato filling that wasn't too spicy at all. Even though the restaurant was full, our food came very quickly. Sambar and fresh coconut chutney come with whatever dosa you order. Dosa's are crispy and they can make it to however you prefer. The food is very good and comes with good portions. If you want to try authentic South Indian food, then this is definitely a place to try (though, not a fan of their Chinese food). Would come again! psa dosa night is on Monday! -it's a vegan and vegetarian restaurant-

Could tell food was days old, over priced, over fried and just disgusting. We confirmed with the man we wanted beef curry and porotta and he gave us fish curry which was not even on the flyer. The porotta was yellow and looked moldy and the beef curry looks like it's been fried 18 times since last Tuesday with a bunch of curry leaves added to it. I was warned many times by many people to avoid this restaurant and now I understand. Please everyone avoid this place! We miss the old Udipi Cafe this new Chackos place is so disgusting.

I have a new FAVORITE spot! Not only is it Indian food but it's vegetarian! I was sold just from checking their website. When I walked in I was immediately greeted with smiles. I felt like I knew them already. My server was so patient with me. There were a few menu items that I was not familiar with and he explained in detail. That was so helpful to me. I got the royal South Indian thali. It was a delight! Each curry was jam packed with flavor. This is where some other the other Indian places go wrong. Either they use too much or too little spice. Udipi Cafe has the right combination! I will absolutely return with friends. #ashsaidit

Udipi Cafe used to be in Decatur but got relocated to Duluth. From what I remembered the restaurant in Decatur is bigger than Duluth. Now it is located off Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. The booths themselves are small and kinda tight. The lady who sat behind me kept moving back and forth and it annoyed me, like she was a bipolar child who couldn't sit still. I ordered samosas, aloo bonda, papri chaat, and chana masala for my friend and me. A few moments later, our food slowly started to come out. The samosas were good. The aloo bondo was just okay, I've had better, the skin felt soggy. The flavors weren't there. Oh yeah, didn't love the mint chutney. The tamarind chutney tasted much better. Papri chaat was disappointing only cause I had much better, I felt it was the "chips" were hidden below and diced small so didn't have that nacho crunch as I remembered. The most disappointing was chana masala. It had too much cardamon or something. My friend didn't even want to help me finish it. We were both very disappointing. Service was fine but food wasn't. I don't think I would come back. 23/2019

Initially there was a Udipi Cafe in Decatur which they moved now to Duluth area with new management. This is been run by a south Indian family. Wife and husband managing the restaurant. Very nice people and very welcoming. South Indian food. One of the very few Indian places around that does not have a buffet. That helps if you want to have some good food and not over-stuff yourselves. Excellent food, excellent service, very nice atmosphere. The staff was super accommodating, all of the food was very tasty. Its all vegetarian, and everything came out very quickly. Reasonable pricing of most of the items. The worst thing about this place is their coconut chutney which is consistently terrible, they need to change the recipe of it. I had my all time favorite from them that is Spring Dosa. It's yummy as always. They do have ample free parking in front of the restaurant. Authentic South Indian dishes. Try any kind of Dosa's with sambar and chutney. I guess that's the key recipe of the restaurant.

Vegan and Vegetarian Indian restaurant.

Good South Indian food, with influences from various parts of South India making their way into their offerings. Not your typical Andhra Cuisine. We ordered a Thali for Dinner (an ensemble of different tastes and flavours organised and served in a single platter, Mai I say 7 course! ), Malabar Parotta, Avial and Dosa. All turned out to be good. Eating out at Veg only restaurants is rare for us, but we enjoyed the whole experience, and they have Vegan options too!! Staff are not overtly friendly in your face, will not come bug you in the middle of your dinner, which is welcome. They will let you enjoy your food and noticeable is that they are always available at hand to help you immediately, if needed. Very clean place, spotless dining area. Well maintained restrooms that does not smell - a rarity among Indian Restaurants I have seen.

The sauce was on the sweeter side, but still tasty. - Teppan Tofu Bibimpak: Came out sizzling! The tofu was crispy on the outside, almost custard-like on the inside. The sauce was savory goodness. - Black Pepper Steak Udon: Steak was nicely chewy, udon well-cooked, strong pepper essence. - Truffle Fried Rice: Crazy enough, this might be the best fried rice I've ever eaten. Such a unique combination of ingredients including black truffle, avocado, pine nuts, chestnut, mushroom, and green beans. Cool presentation too. - BBQ Pork Fried Rice: Right amount of sweetness with good wok hei. - Tempura Shrimp Roll: Tasted classic, liked that it had fried enoki mushroom in addition to mock shrimp. Ambiance is casual and spacious, lots of parking up front. Service is fast and friendly. To note, they have an automatic 18% service charge. Also, if you spend $30 in one transaction, you get $10 VG cash for next time (no minimum purchase necessary, expires within 10 days). Honestly, I wouldn't hesitate to go back and try other dishes if it was a bit closer to my house. 10/10 would recommend!

It was pretty quiet (early on a Friday evening). I only saw one employee while I was there and she was very nice. She brought me a glass of water while I waited. The burrito was DELICIOUS. I added tofu to it, which probably wasn't necessary, but I love tofu. I guess I was a little disappointed they didn't really do anything to it. I should not have eaten the whole thing, but I couldn't stop. The chips and salsa were also really good. The chips were very crispy and the salsa was fresh. The prices are really reasonable too! I would go back if I visited again (and I don't think I'd say that about anywhere else I ate).

Just be prepared for a short walk up the back stairs or around the side to reach the entrance. Seating & Restroom: There's both indoor and outdoor seating. The restroom is gender inclusive and wheelchair accessible. Service: Over the past 10 years and many visits, including celebrating multiple birthdays here, service has sometimes felt a bit inattentive or stretched thin. That said, on my most recent solo Sunday brunch visit, the bartender/server was genuinely warm, friendly, and attentive, which made a noticeable difference in the overall experience. It was refreshing and their kind and caring energy was so appreciated. Prices: Prices are very reasonable for the generous portion sizes. Menu & Food: The menu covers a wide range of offerings, which is ambitious and gives plenty of options. I've returned several times to try something new, hoping to discover a standout dish. I haven't quite found anything to write home about yet as most dishes land in the "just okay" category for me. They're filling, but not especially bold, flavorful, or memorable. As someone who really enjoys vibrant spices and layered flavor, I keep hoping the next dish I try will shine, but everything I've had thus far tends to be a bit on the uninspired side. The pancakes have been the most reliable item over the years. They aren't over-the-top, but they're consistently good and comforting. The kids' stack is especially generous and more than enough for most adults. The only French toast option is peanut French toast; a classic version would be a nice addition for those with peanut allergies or folks just looking for regular French toast. On my latest visit, I ordered the migas, which come as four mini tacos with a small side salad. It was decent, though nothing particularly memorable. I ordered a side of hashed potatoes, which were a bit dry. I also ordered a side of the cheese grits, which were unfortunately the low point for me. They were thin and more brothy than creamy. It was a bit like eating nutritional yeast slop. As a Southerner who absolutely loves grits, I'm honestly hoping there may have been a mix-up that day. I'd hate for anyone unfamiliar with Southern cooking, or vegan grits, to think that's the standard, because they can be incredibly rich and satisfying when done well (Sevananda in ATL, for example, has amazing vegan cheese grits), but these were very disappointing. With a little more creativity in the kitchen and perhaps some bolder seasoning or new sauces, the menu could really shine. I truly hope Sluggo's continues to thrive and considers adding more explicitly organic menu options. Just a bit more flavor and flair could really make it a standout.

I wanted to give my system a break from digesting meat and I wanted some highly seasoned veggies, so I was pleasantly surprised to discover this is a meat free vegetarian Indian dining experience where I could also get those spices I craved too. When I walked inside, it was an immediate WOW Factor based on the stylish and colorful decor. The entire ceiling is black with beautiful modern light fixtures. There were hues of vibrant pinks, fushias, greens, and gold everywhere. I was greeted warmly and quickly seated. I asked for water but I was offered the type of water I desired based on temperature: cold, room temperature etc. Now that was a wow because it was the first time ever I have been asked that question. I ordered the month's special and I eagerly awaited my order. I was surprised that a few minutes after I placed my order, a little robot rolled out with my food. The restaurant host asked me if I knew how to eat the food. At first I was surprised because I did not think I needed a lesson, but after I had no idea what I ordered, I was grateful that I had the tutorial because I not only needed to know how to make make the tray more delectable, but also I probably would have not enjoyed it as much on my own. The lentils were the star of the show, but all of it was delicious and by the time I stood up from the table I was extremely full and satisfied. Now, I will tell you now that if you are the bougie type of eater and you don't like your food to touch, or you need to know exactly everything you're eating then I would say avoid this place; however, if you love flavor, well seasoned food and an experience then Chaska is the place for you.
