I love the staff here, they are so personable and especially sweet. The food here is to die for--specifically the BBQ jackfruit. The cheese here is very good and tastes very similar to nacho/queso cheese. The impossible burger is hard for me to tell apart from a real beef burger, since it has an iron taste I don't see often in vegan meals. The portions are pretty large, and I usually eat about 2/3rds of the plate a majority of the time despite being a high volume eater. Makes it 100% worth the price nothing the leftovers. On the flip side, they have a lot of pastries and delicious deserts at the front. The frosting on the cupcakes are a little sweet but they are delicious and I find it hard to not eat it all at once. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Chattanooga, ESPECIALLY VEGANS. It is a very hippie vibe, and the food mostly orients balanced and healthy meals. Cashew was recommended by Pigeon from the Plantbar the previous day. I like the location of the restaurant since it's by the river. We walked in and had the option of eating outside which we did but the table was dirty so we went back inside and secured a table. We had different waitstaff so we really didn't know who was going to take our order. I ordered the buffalo bowl. My friends seemed to enjoy their food too. The food was okay, the vibe was weird. Like so many places in Chattanooga, this wonderful restaurant is tucked away next to Coolidge Park on the north side of the Tennessee river. The restaurant can be found on the lower level just below an ice cream shop. Muscadine vines climb a staircase to the right. On warm days there are a few outdoor seating options which I'm sure are hard to get. In doors were cozy filled with greenery. Seats and table had an American folk feel. I was interested in the beet burger. The day I went, I ordered the special any patty with mushrooms and Gouda. Great flavor! I expected the beet patty to be closer to beet texture. It wasn't very beet like in texture or flavor. It was pink like beets. If you don't like the earthy flavor of beets, you'll be able to handle this patty. I didn't try something new for my sides. I ordered tots-always will choose tots! They were good. My only complaint was that the bathroom lights were to dim! This simple process turned into a disheartening experiment for me. I sat down at the outdoor tables hoping to place my order to go. When the lady answering the phone stated I would have to come in to place a to-go order because people were leaving without paying. I told her I understood but I was handicapped and could you take the order and come out and get the credit card for the order. She said, "NO". I said can you come and get the card and you would have it in hand when I give you the order she said, "NO". You can use the app and we will bring it to the car after payment. Hmmm.. So I waited a couple of minutes because it was already a task to get to the patio with my walker and one leg. So, I called back again and a guy named Griffin answered the phone and he stated the same thing the lady stated. I would have to come in to place an order even though I asked if he would come and get the credit card and have iit in hand when I placed the order. Griffin said, "NO" as well. After asking the Lord for strength to get down the long inclined walkway to place the order I was thankful because NO ONE held the door for me to enter. I guess I should also state there we a couple on the patio about to eat and ONE PERSON (a man) inside dining. I placed my order which was one meal and four waters. The lady gave the order as I was balancing myself with one leg on a walker. She offered no help!!! Griffin took my signed receipt......looked to see if I "gave a tip" for helping myself and walked away. He did not even hold the door or NOTHING. A man was coming in as I was struggling with the door and held it for me. My daughter indicated she called the store when I told her what happened and "asked the employees of Cashew to help me". It's a very hip vegetarian restaurant with a broad, American-ish menu that uses whole food ingredients as well as tofu and Nashville-based fake meats. The buffalo bowl I tried delivered a ton of zing, but a nice nutritional balance, with some pinto beans, tofu, avocado, and kale. My iced tea was fine but nothing special. Their dessert spread, on the other hand, looked pretty convincing, and I took one donut and ate it later. The chai flavor permeated strongly, and while getting a decent texture in a vegan donut is not easy, theirs worked for me, being soft and not overly dry as some such creations are, but also firm enough to be eaten without falling apart. I asked my friend Greg for a good Vegan spot in his beautiful city and he recommended Cashew saying "I have never had anything here that I didn't love". With that, we were incredibly excited to try Cashew out. One of the great things, is that because of the nature of the menu SO MANY items are Gluten Free, so I have loads of options. It was so hard to choose from all the deliciousness, so my hubby and I decided to share a few things: Nachos - can I say ERMAGHERRD? Veggie Plate with 3 items - so we could try a few different things. With the veggie plate - we chose Chili, 1/2 Thai Sweet Potato, and the Garlicky Kale. So, Greg was NOT wrong. Everything was beyond delicious! Nachos can be a hit or miss but these were OUT OF THIS WORLD. The Chili was better than mine (mine is super delicious if I do say so myself). The Thai Sweet Potato, creamy, fresh, and super tasty. The Garlicky Kale? OMG **Chef's Kiss** I am not going to lie to y'all... I was hogging the Kale and the Nachos. My poor hubby almost went without. I mean, I shared ... a little. Since they offered GF desserts you know I just had to have one, so I ordered a chocolate strawberry cupcake. YUM! Service was incredible and you can tell that the food is absolutely fresh and made with love. I love this restaurant so much. Every time we eat here it's a great experience and this last time did not disappoint. We usually pop up to Chattanooga for a weekend trip once or twice a year and eat here. We came up on Valentine's Day and they were closed for reservations only. Stopped by here on a state to state drive. I ordered the Chorizo Burrito; quite delicious! The cashew cheese, BeHive chorizo, and tots mesh well together. I sprinkled some of the Hoff sauce hot sauce on it and it took it to the next level. Chips are the side that come with most items. It's an underwhelming choice for a side and they were super salty. The restaurant should switch to a more hearty side. I also ordered a side of queso, the queso was pretty bland alone and didn't fulfill my queso craving, however, I mixed in the Hoff sauce hot sauce and it made for a more exciting dip. read more

And hesitatingly we got some doughnuts that are also gluten free as most gf doughnuts are nasty. But these were fluffy enough and delicious!!! Super friendly staff. Food prep was quick. Decent portions for the price. Limited seating outside and plenty of seating inside. Friendly decor. Pay to park at the kiosk was $1 per hour. This has since been rectified and I can now say I will most assuredly be back. Atmosphere. I found the atmosphere to be very calming. The place is decorated in neutral tones with nice touches of plants throughout the restaurant. There is some noise you will hear from the ice cream parlor above the restaurant, but it's to be expected and not too distracting. I ordered a chorizo burrito with a side of seasoned kale. It was DELICIOUS. I am a firm believer that grilling a burrito really elevates it to another level of amazing. My fiancé ordered a Philly cheesesteak with a side of chili. He also gave rave reviews of the Philly cheesesteak. Though I didn't try his entree, I did try the side of chili he ordered. The chili was very delicious, excellent flavor without too much spice and was warming on a rainy day. When you first come in, they bring you glasses of water and a pitcher to refill as needed. Additionally, we ordered chai teas; he had a hot chai tea and I had an ice chai with oat milk. Again, delicious with the perfect amount of spice. I did sample his hot chai and would likely prefer my iced to his; however, if i were to walk around the city on a cold day- I would pick the hot chai. Finally got the opportunity to visit this vegan joint and it was every bit as amazing as I expected! I got their daily special, an avocado bacon impossible burger with a side of garlic kale & my friend got the jackfruit nachos with a side of chili mac & cheese. Everything was VEGAN and SO GOOD! The burger honestly tasted real and the garlic kale was so flavorful. The nachos had vegan cheese that was really tasty (this is coming from someone who loves real cheese) and lots of other delicious toppings. The restaurant interior was pretty loud but very cute. Man this place was a real disappointment. I went here with some friends from out of town. I had heard such good things and it's hard to find a truly vegan place that is decent. We walked in,a group of 4. Asked to sit inside, told we had to go on a wait list by the young man at the counter. So we gave him our number. Waited 15 minutes and another group of 4 walked in and were told to take whatever seat they wanted. So they were seated ahead of us. We brought this to the attention to the people at the counter and after some debate they seated us. No apology or anything. I think there was a missed opportunity to just acknowledge thier mistake and gloss it over. Then they were out of almost everything everyone at the table wanted. 3/4 of us. The food was just ok. Wasn't what anyone wanted. The only thing that made this a 2 star review was the dessert was really good. Also they seemed to have a good selection of vegan cheeses in the case. All this being said, I'd definitely give it one more shot, because any place could have a bad day. I would recommend just giving your front of house staff some customer service training so everyone is on the same page about seating people. read more

Eco-friendly, sustainable take out containers were a plus. Though brief a brief interaction, the service was great. On to the food - I tried three of the most popular items. In general, what I liked was the ingredients were clearly fresh and whole foods. The cheesy mac was by far my favorite. Savory, rich, the true form of vegan soul food. By far my favorite. If I return, I would order as my entree. The loaded sweet potato and the buffalo bowl were both OK. They were absolutely fine, but not something that I'd come back for (easily something I could throw together at home). All in all, great experience. Found this place by accident a few years ago. Now every time I go to or through Chattanooga, I make sure to stop. It is all vegan. The meatball sub is so good that I get one for now and one for later. The chicken salad is great, I bring some home for the week. It's hard to get the cashew cheese to go since it sells out so fast.
