We have been coming here for years, and had appreciated the home cooked style food. Recently we went and saw roaches (2) crawling on the wall behind our booth. We showed the waitress and she just laughed and brought over bug spray and sprayed the area. It then smelled of bug spray fumes. We have never been back. They need to remodel and fumigate the entire restaurant. It was disgusting. We couldn't even eat the meal. read more

Friends and family have recommended Park Place to me for years yet somehow it took me until last week to finally visit. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by the friendly staff. I was taken to a booth and the server came right over to take my drink order. I knew I wanted to make the most out of my experience by trying something on the menu that was particularly popular, so I asked the server for a few options. After listing several, I opted for a burger -- since they make their patties there -- and a side of onion rings. When my food came out, it was piping hot and after waiting a couple minutes to let it cool down a bit, I dug in! The burger was amazing -- fresh and full of flavor! I didn't think I'd finish it all but surprised myself when I ate the last bite. You can always tell when onion rings are made fresh, in-house when you bite into one and the batter is crispy and falls right off and onions are thick and meaty. These rings were exactly what I was hoping for! I see why so many people have recommended Park Place to me and I plan to return many more times in the near future! read more

We have taken large groups (15-20) to Park Place several times and used their party room each time. They handled our group efficiently, and the food was delicious. Their extra room is perfect for a large group. They did not pipe in music to the party room, and it makes it perfect to visit with friends or family. We have been very happy with our waitresses for the large groups. They have been very pleasant and patient. Our first time eating here. It did not disappoint! We had the Wednesday special of Chicken & Dressing. 1 have to say I am very disappointed. Since I have moved to Ft Oglethorpe 5 years ago, this place has been a favorite. When family and friends have visited this is where I have brought them to eat. Tonight, my fiance' and I went in to eat at our go to place. First of all it was so very cold it was uncomfortable. Second, once we had place our order for a philly and cheese sandwiich and salmon patties we waited for over 20 minutes. They weren't that busy and even our server and the young lady that was running the food for them, were curious why it took so long. While we waited, I watched a bus boy, go from table to table with the same rag and spray to clean off tables. I nearly walked when I saw him wipe the seats off with the same rag and then the table top. A couple people that came after us, got their food while we sat waiting. The couple next to us came in at least 15 after we placed our food order. Remarkably, their food came within a few minutes after ours. I kept my cool, but we both vowed not to come back. read more

Updated Review: eating at this restaurant several times a week with my service dog who sits in a stroller I was shocked to be confronted by the Owner on my last visit. He told me that he had complaints about my dog and seated me in a area with filthy tables and employees purses and things behind the cashier so no one would see me. I later found out that my dog supposedly put his feet on the table which was untrue. He didn't ask me about it just informed me in a loud voice in the middle of the restaurant. I knew at the time there were no complaints about my service dog because all he does is sleep unless someone wanted to pet him. Of course I didn't stay even though I was meeting friends. The food is adequate but nothing outstanding. Love the wait staff. Do not order anything with rice as it usually a few days old. After my episode with Park Place I have visited other restaurants in the area without any complaints at all. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The owner who looks like a homeless man is loud, rude and obnoxious. read more

I wanted something a little different for lunch today so I called in a to-go order. I had the chicken salad sandwich which came with lettuce and a tomato on it. It also came on toasted wheat bread. This sandwich was awesome. The chick salad was some of the best I have ever had. I added an order of potato chips and to my surprise they were freshly homemade! Again, awesome! Pure local for.Fort Oglethorpe (near Rossville and Chattanooga). Next to the national military Park, hence, presumably, the name. In an aging strip mall, but don't let that make your determination. If you're actually interested in the local color, then both the food and the ambiance are here. I'm reminded of when we were in Lithuania in the Spring of 2019 and wanted local food, we didn't want food in the American style. By the same token if you came to this part of the country, this is the kind of place to give you the real feel of the local food and community. The food and certainly not gourmet but just typical of Southern local family restaurants. I have the salmon patties which are a dish that was once common in the South but is fading away with the younger generations. Probably why they don't have the good omega 3 levels of some previous generations. My family and I JUST finished eating here and it was just perfect! I got the unbelievable $4.99 special: a good-sized homemade (delicious) Chicken Salad Sandwich with fresh lettuce and tomato, homemade potato chips, a pickle spear, and a cup of soup. I am so glad I chose what I did; everything was honestly fantastic! Our waitress was just sweetest, and she made sure our drinks never ran out. Also, my mom got just the regular Chicken Salad sandwich with onion rings (they have perfected those, as well) and I noticed she got a pickle spear and I didn't. I kindly asked the waitress if I was supposed to get one with my meal (I love pickles with chicken salad) and the waitress brought me two from the kitchen to make up for their tiny mistake. Ok, so, I would love to write a great review of this place, but I can only give a so-so review. The food is pretty good. They supposedly grind their own hamburger and cut their own steaks and everything is made from scratch. More on that in a minute. I had the catfish tonight with green beans and a baked potato. The catfish was really good. The breading wasn't too thick and heavy, but not too light either, and it had a good flavor. The green beans were canned, and stuff got left off my potato. The biggest thing tonight was the service. I got one of the two or three older ladies that don't seem to give a crap. She barely said anything but "what do you want." She set our stuff in front of us and walked off. Just like she didn't want anything to do with us. Usually we get a BLT with the salad bar. The BLT is awesome. Thick sliced tomatoes, great bacon, delicious. With a sandwich, the salad bar is only an additional $5, I think. It's two really good soups. The salad is almost all iceberg and a I wish they would spin it after washing, and the selection of toppings could use some exchanges, but it's not terrible. The desserts are good, but no way they are all made from scratch. All in all, there's good and bad about the place (I won't bitch about the outdated decor).... I wish the guy would liven up the staff. They seem to be getting lazy. read more

Park Place is an excellent family restaurant and it is not a chain, locally operated and owned. It is on LaFayette Road, just one block before the entrance to the Chickamauga Battlefield Military Memorial Park. Not only do they have a great selection of southern style vegetables but the broasted chicken is out of this world! The chicken livers are excellent, too. A good choice of desserts. No wine or mixed drinks. Food is reasonably priced. The atmosphere is casual as is the service. This business has a large local and seniors customer base. Just good country cooking. This restaurant has been here for many years. Easy and plentiful parking normally Later update: Have been back to Park Place several times since the above evaluation. I have just removed a star. The reason I no longer give this place five stars is because of the atmosphere immediately past their designated lunch hour. They close their more comfortable back dining room and direct patrons to the front nearer the open salad bar and brighter and much less ambient location. You are seated amidst the loud kitchen activity, the dirty dish collection center, making one feel you are not worth the effort of a comfortable seating arrangement. I often dine alone and it is not a welcome setting. So that is why I am updating my rating and taking off a star. Really am sorry. read more

This place was great! I don't get the negative comments previously posted... The food was excellent! We had the Fried Green Tomatoes as an appetizer...the best that I have ever had! Including Farm to Fork. Here, the tomatoes were seasoned with just the perfect seasonings and were cooked perfectly! We had sweet tea, of course...and it was great also. My husband ordered the Country Fried Steak...it wasn't a formed patty as mentioned previously. He also had Mashed Potatoes with White Gravy and the Fried Corn...all delicious! I had the Smoky Mountain Chicken, Potato Salad and Baked Beans. We also had Rolls and Cornbread. EVERYTHING was exceptional! Our waitress was a small older lady who was very attentive and pleasant to talk to. The cashier laughed and liked with us too. Maybe they've changed some of their items since earlier comments. But, I have recommended this place to several people already. It's a hidden gem. If you're willing to drive a little farther from I-75, and love home style food, THIS is the place to go!!! And before you mistake my compliments as trying to just build up this establishment's ratings...thinking that I may be an employee, owner or family member, I assure you I'm not. I live far away, but my husband has passed this place several times while traveling for work and we made the drive just to try the food. If I were able to give it 10 stars, I assure you I would!
