We were given a voucher for this place by a friend of ours so we decided to try it. OMGosh! My wife and I loved it! When we walked in we were greeted, asked if we had been there before. When we said no she lit up and proceeded to give us the grand tour.she not only talked about the menu items in detail but how the store was laid out physically including where we could find the restrooms! The owner, Greg of course, came over and introduced himself and shook my hand. He asked where we were from and we had a nice conversation about our journeys to Chattanooga residency (both of us were originally from IL!). We ordered the Greg Special (turkey and pimento cheese with jalapeños) and The Italian. Both sandwiches were outstanding but The Italian was the best sandwich I've ever had. No joke. We will be back and I'm going to look for opportunities to use them for catering business lunches! As I said, the service was outstandingly friendly and the establishment was super clean. Please give them a try and I promise you will NOT be disappointed! So, I have an update! My wife and I returned today (two weeks later) and took a friend with us. We got the Italian again and our friend got the club. The place was much busier this time (the weather was much better) but the food was just as outstanding as was the service! The establishment itself was just as clean as well in spite of the increased traffic! Greg was gracious and let us sample their baked desserts (thank you Greg) and they were delicious as well! We spied a chili pie on the menu this time and I am looking forward to Fall Weather to give that a try! Thanks again y'all for another great experience! read more

I score these guys 1 star. I would give a zero, but the soup (white bean and kale) was good. It would have been better if it was hot. My wife's grill cheese was not good. She ask for mayo on it and there was none. My sandwich, roast beef on rye was all bread. My picture will show it. The decor was bad. Gray walls and black tables do not make for a happy place. Here is the kicker. We lived 15 mins away back when this was GollyWhoppers. The best sandwich place in Chattanooga. Great soups and the best desserts. After the business changed hands they kept everything the same for a short time. Fast forward 4-5 years. No desserts no good sandwiches. This is a great local place to grab lunch. One of my favorite things is that the owner is always working behind the counter. Their soups are always pretty good and the cornbread is real tasty! Some my favorite items are the hummus wrap, south of the border wrap, and chicken pita (this was one is hidden below their main menu board). If you are looking for a reasonably priced, hearty, quick lunch then this is a great place to stop. I've just consumed the Grilled Chicken Spinach wrap at GSW. It was fresh, tasty and filling. It's the kind of sandwich any reasonable chicken would line up "to die for". The former Gollywhompers had a pretty good reputation with the local folk for a long time. Now revamped as Greg's, the former manager, there is a bit more "kick" to the features their fans liked so much. There are conventional sandwiches, build-your-own options, hot dogs, salads and (my favorite) wraps. It's not the fanciest place in town, but it's definitely worth a visit! All of those chickens (cows, pigs, etc.) couldn't be wrong. GSW is in the Brainerd Hills Center across from the Wesley Memorial Church in Chattanooga's Brainerd district. read more

Unfortunately, there isn't anything about this place that is exciting for me. Your journey begins with a drab, all gray interior with black and white art, black tables and chairs, and checked diner flooring. It's like being lost in Escher's Wonderland. If you dine in, you'll be eating off plastic tables and chairs and using disposable flatware. That's a huge turnoff for me. Huge. It's wasteful and has a terrible impact on the environment. The sammies and wraps are okay, but they aren't compelling. There isn't anything about them that make you stop and admire them. Nothing that makes you stop and say, "Now that's a good sammich!" And of the few times I've eaten here, I've wound up eating my wraps with a fork since everything seems to slide out. (The ends are never tucked in.) The soups are solid but the pasta salad was under dressed. Having said all that, the staff is really nice. They are trying and I think the drive is there to serve good food. read more

I've only been once since it stopped being Gollywhoppers. We used yup eat there frequently, as it was close to work. Muy chi worker was excited the new owner used to work at GW so we hoped for a good experience. The counter girl was so rude only 1 person ordered food. There was no excessive line to say she was busy, she was snippy and unwelcoming. Bad customer service is a major off putter for me. Everyone has an off day and I'll be happy to update this if I ever go back. read more
