Don't get the chicken nuggets as a side-nothing special. I loved the options of toppings on our burgers, especially the grilled onions. Mixed reviews from us on the burgers. Recently had a late night burger, fries, onion rings and shake after a day long with travel softball. After 10 pm on a Friday night, the drive through lane was long and my patience was short. However, they got through 10-12 cars & orders in 10-15 mins and my food was hot, good and quick. And the peach shake was crazy good. While most places are complaining they can't get staff, this restaurant had a friendly, efficient and organized team doing what they were supposed to be doing later on a Friday night! After driving by this chain of restaurants I elected to eat there. You place your order at the counter and wait for to and then find a seat for dine in or you may request carry out service. Some locations offer drive through service. While waiting for my food to be prepared I visited the restroom. Unfortunately it was dirty. Walking by the tables and booths all were dirty as well. Drink station was a mess. There was more employees in the building than customers. I guess they could not spare one or two employees to clean the restroom and tables and booths. I'm simply obsessed with Cook Out. It's an issue. I'm not from the South, so I go here every chance I get and I just LOVE it. Multiple reasons why: 1) It's so cheap. Like crazy cheap. If you get a tray, you get so much food for like 6 bucks. 2) It's so good. Favorite menu items are hushpuppies, cajun fries, burger, chicken quesadilla, ranch wrap, and chicken strips. 3) THE SHAKES. Y'all. UNLIMITED TOPPINGS. No lie. Unlimited toppings/flavors for literally like 3 bucks. Ughhhh they're just so good. I usually do some combo of PB/banana/fudge/Oreo/Snickers. Heaven on earth. 4) THE SAUCE. Cookout sauce is by far the best signature sauce I've ever had (yes, better than CFA). I could drink the stuff. I'll be honest, I have. Fav thing to have it with is hushpuppies. SLAPS every time. 5) The atmosphere. It's a little whack inside, like Western decor with Christian music playing and the flaming spatula logo littered here and there. But it's Cookout and it's home and I love it. Newly opened, this place is extremely popular but based on the food I see nothing that stands out. They do have reasonable prices for burgers and hotdogs and have plenty of toppings for them. Of course this is a review based on one experience and they have many Menu items I have yet to try. For this visit I tried a chill dog, burger and shake. Hotdog did not seem freshly cooked but chili was ok. Just a normal plain chili dog. Burger was average, nothing that stands out. I was mostly disappointed by the shake. They state premium shakes on the signage. But I guess premium only means you can get a lot of different types, 40 types on the board. But it is not a handmade shake. Mine was at the counter before I even paid right out of the machine. Thick soft serve to me. Layout inside is good and kind of a North Carolina mountain feel to it. They have BBQ, along with other items to try so will hit it again in the future and update the rating should it be warranted. read more

Just got home after ordering fast food (just kidding... nothing fast about it) from Cook out. The line of cars was very long so the sign said you could save time by using the "walk up" window. Ordered from the window and waited and waited (15 minutes) and watched all the cars in the drive up leave. I tried calling the phone number on the website to see if I could get someone but the number sent me to the corporate office. That didn't work. While waiting another couple ordered at the window and had theirs in a few minutes. Finally got someone and they had the order which was missing a shake, had no straws or utensils, so they had to go get all of that, which took another few minutes. Got home and the order was missing fries. I reluctantly give it a 2- and won't go back. read more

The best burger you can get from a drive thru period. My dad and I just got done devouring these things, and can't stop talking about them! We were really just expecting something like Wendy's, but nope these are REAL burgers. Service was quick, seemed enthusiastic, and got the order spot on. Hot dog was good too, but the burger is the star no doubt. Beware, the shakes are so damn thick that you'll hurt yourself trying to drink them. Now this is the place to go if you want quality food. The people here are ALWAYS great and full of energy. Before moving here to Chattanooga I'd never ate there, much less heard of them. Well, I'm so glad that I love food and trying out new places because this place is definitely on my top 5 list of cheeseburgers. Every time I return to Cook Out for another "try" it becomes more disappointing than the last visit. The burgers and fries went from really good three years ago, to being less than mediocre along with a steady size reduction while increasing prices. Many times, the workers CRUSH the bun on your burger or sandwich so you end up with a soggy, wilted piece of stale bread. The Today, I purchased a Reeses's cup shake which contained MAYBE one piece of Reese's cup-- it was mostly a vanilla ice cream. A call to the local number consistently rings busy, so you can not talk with a manager. And don't try to reach the corporate office because they will IGNORE your customer 'concern' email. In three years (2019 - 2022) this place has gone down hill quickly. Consistently very, very poor food and poor quality. read more

I drove by cookout on the way to another fast food place. When I saw the crowded parking lot and the drive-through line, figured they must be doing something right. As soon as I got out of the car and smelled the burgers cooking I got even more hungry. I definitely wasn't letdown. The burgers were awesome and the sides were really good. Restaurant was very clean. The staff was friendly, and the food tasted great. However, the service is very slow. Some of that comes from cooking your order fresh when you order it and that is a good thing. There were 3 other people and orders in about the same time as mine and it ended up taking 16 minutes to get my order of 1 combo at lunch. I go to this location quite a bit, and the staff is always super friendly! The food is consistently great especially for the prices. Love that you can get a float in place of a drink for no upcharge on the trays, and the ratio of soda to ice cream is perfect. The trays are definitely the way to go to get a filling meal for cheap. I'm not all that impressed with the food that I ordered at Cookout. I would go here over someplace like McDonalds but it just rubbed me the wrong way that they advertise their food as being "fresh homemade char-grilled hamburgers" Because they don't taste like any homemade chargrilled that I've or anyone else has ever made. In fact I would say they taste sort of similar to a cafeteria burger that I used to get in the Army. I choose to dine in and I'm really glad that I did because it took them 3 times to get my burger right (I ordered a bacon cheeseburger add tomato (tomatoes and cheese are an add on price) ) first one didn't have cheese and the second didn't have the slice of tomato I paid for. Anyways I had high hopes for this place because of the plumes of smoke coming out of the top of the place and the signage making big promises but overall I was just disappointed. Abysmal service. I have frequented this Cookout and given my business and they have consistently been rude and less than willing to help the customer. I recently went through the drive through after a late shift. I don't get off until midnight, and cookout is the only place open in my area. I went through to purchase a meal, starving, when my card declined. I only got paid today, so I don't know why it did, and I had them run it several times. I checked my bank account and had well over the amount needed to complete the transaction. Still my card declined. I saw my order up, explained that I truly had the money, and asked them to swipe again. They asked me to leave, at which point I asked if they would seriously rather waste my food by throwing it in the trash than give it to a loyal customer when their system is malfunctioning. Usually, this location of The Cookout does a good job of providing good food and service at reasonable prices. However, on a recent afternoon visit we found the service customers expect to be lacking. The time to prepare and serve our food was much too long, over 15 minutes. The counter person apologized about our (several customers) wait, said that they were a little short handed today. He also said a lot of employees had showed up to pick up their paychecks and the manager on duty was tied up with them. He advised another customer that orders are "cooked to order" in the afternoon and that it takes awhile. After over fifteen minutes, our food order was served fresh, hot and tasted very good! The Cookout is a great value and the food is outstanding! Employees and management simply need to focus on improved "customer service" by avoiding distractions that delay prompt service and making sure that they do everything possible to meet customer expectations in both service and food quality.
