If you're familiar with LaFayette, this spot feels a lot like Greg's--small portions, pricey for what you get, and overall just okay.

Very good catfish and chicken with good sides. Good service and friendly staff. Eating in a historic house is also a treat.

CJ's has the best home style cooking around LaFayette and the staff is always friendly.

    Geo's Smokehouse - Baked Beans

Geo's Smokehouse wasn't on our radar at all while we were on the way to Little River Canyon, but as…read morewe drove past, we saw a huge column of smoke emanating in the distance. We thought it was perhaps a fire, but as we drew closer, we found that it was actually a barbecue place. Definitely seemed promising, but we weren't hungry at the time and decided that we would pick up some food on the way back. That we did - we drove up right around dinner time and as soon as we parked and ordered another 4 cars pulled up. This place certainly is popular and I don't know why there isn't another review up yet. Geo's is a very casual takeout joint where you order at a window. There are a couple of tables nearby, but we didn't see anyone for either lunch or dinner (probably because it was so cold outside!) The menu is pretty simple and very affordable and we ended up getting just a single plate since we still weren't that hungry: Pork Plate ($8.49) - We got a lot more food than I expected for the price. This came with two sides, of which I chose the baked beans and the coleslaw. The beans were pinto mixed with a bit of onion and some pulled pork. The baked beans were sweet, savory, with the slightest bit of spice, and a very distinct kind of charred flavor. The shredded coleslaw is pretty typical - a bit of a tang, sweet, with a bit of a kick from copious amounts of black pepper. The meal also came with a standard dinner roll on the side. The pork was the star here - meaty, well seasoned, with a good smoke flavor. The larger interior chunks were perhaps a bit on the dry side, but there was an appropriate amount of sweet and tangy barbecue sauce on top to moisten things up. Overall the food was good for the price. Geo's doesn't really have anything earthshattering here, but the food is pretty solid and is a good choice for a small town.

Best BBQ in Lafayette GA!!! Seriously the service and food is the best!! We've tried Lucky Eye Q…read moreand they're honestly horrible. The food was burnt, not great flavor and the service is slow. We've tried Hanks and it's nothing but a bunch of teenage kids running the show and both times I've gotten nothing but attitude we will not go back! Geo's has never disappointed! Best fast, friendly service! Amazing good we've tried a bit of everything and there's nothing that's bad it's so good! As far as the atmosphere, you simply call in or place your order and pick it up. Its not a eat in experience it's basically like a food truck in a way but it's too notch hands down!

I don't know exactly what Garner's Market is trying to be... and more importantly, I don't care…read more It's half market, half deli, half collection of random memorabilia... yes, that's three halves. The math doesn't work, but neither does this place, and somehow that's exactly why it does. I got the Natural sandwich and even as I'm writing this review, I wish it was still in my mouth. It was outstanding. The kind of sandwich that makes you wonder if you've been wasting your life eating lesser sandwiches. They also had old-timey bottled sodas that were fantastic, plus a bunch of random chip brands I'd never heard of but was immediately willing to trust. No regrets there. I grabbed a cookie that looked soft, gooey, and delicious. It nailed the delicious part but missed on the soft part. If you're a crunchy cookie person, you're in luck. If you're like me and prefer your cookies to have the structural integrity of a wet sponge, you may be disappointed. The tables were lined with comic books, which is exactly how I would decorate my house if my wife weren't constantly protecting me from myself. The staff was friendly, helpful, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Garner's is quirky, unique, and packed with personality. Highly recommend if you're anywhere nearby.
