Our query for a seafood restaurant led us here, and at first glance almost decided to leave. The seating was minimal and we had to walk up to the counter to order. While waiting, we realized it is primarily a seafood market and take-out orders for cooked food were the main business. But the reviews were great, so we gave it a try. We were amazed at the quality and quantity of food we got. An order of crab claws and shrimp came with over 40 claws and about ten shrimp, all fried to perfection with the best tasting breading ever! The atmosphere was like old time New Orleans, on the wrong side of the tracks. But relax your snobbish standards a bit, and enjoy your seafood the way it is meant to be served!

On the menu today was the shrimp boil plate, bbq pulled pork sandwich that you can get as a combo, gumbo and shrimp bisque. So we got everything!! The shrimp boil plate was impressive! Loaded with well cooked and seasoned shrimp, corn, sausage, and potatoes. It comes with cocktail sauce and a seasoned butter dip. The gumbo was fantastic and meaty but the shrimp bisque was fine dinning! So good! Our son had the sandwich and he let me have a little taste. Nice sweet tender pork on a soft bun. Right up his alley. Great prices too. The Shrimp Lady is delivering high quality food with friendly service from a cute and modest location. A must try and if we lived closer, it would be a regular stop for us.

It's a white sauce kind. I take a way one star cuz they ran out of BBQ sandwich and it's only 1PM. In addition to home cooked gumbo the lady also sells fresh shrimps caught from the Bay. I saw some frozen crab meats, fish such as flounder, salmon, amberjack and Mississippi catfish. This is not a formal sitting down diner so don't come in expecting a typical restaurant experience. But the food is authentic, honest and full of love.

(I recommend doing that, especially during lunch.) One of my good friends sent recommendations. My husband got the French dip. I hesitate calling it a poboy because I'm from NOLA, and outside south Louisiana, it's just a sandwich . I got the grilled shrimp lunch special with fries. Honestly, spend a little more and get the platter. I'd get them fried, but I can't have gluten. I risked cross contamination and got the fries. They were absolutely worth it. Fortunately, I didn't have a reaction. Trevor was our server, and he was excellent. You could tell he knew the regulars and locals based on how he'd approach new diners. He also gave really good recommendations. The vegetable of the day was a casserole, and Trevor told my husband that was better than the fries. My husband inhaled that casserole. If you're an Elvis fan, request to sit at the table. Overall, I'd definitely come back. For being on Open Table, just know this is a casual restaurant on the bay. Nothing frilly - just good, southern cooking. We will be back!

The chargrilled oysters unfortunately came with quite a bit of shell, which made them difficult to enjoy--though we did manage to find some actual pearl in there, so small win and fun! The grilled fish and shrimp were noticeably overcooked, and my husband's fried shrimp leaned the same way, lacking that fresh, tender bite you hope for. Sides were decent but didn't particularly stand out for my grilled dinner. Husband said slaw and hush puppies were good, my green beans were delicious. Overall, it's a lovely place with great service, but the kitchen execution didn't quite match the setting. With a few tweaks, this could easily be a standout spot.

Entrees were the grouper basket, blackened mahi, St. Peter's Platter, blackened flounder, Boudreaux's Favorite and several other dishes. The food was hot and full of flavor! Their draft options are limited, but the staff was very helpful in choosing other drinks. They had two different bartenders in my visits, and I believe both tried very hard to make me happy, even though I was just a random walk-in. They had quite a few locals who got to-go orders during my visits, and everyone seemed very happy with their food. Desserts are all homemade, and are good, and very large, even if not what I would traditionally call by the same name.
