I really enjoyed the sushi here. The lunch specials are wonderful. They are busy most days so don't be in a hurry.

We came across this hidden gem that's a must-try! The sushi was fresh, food portions plenty, menu had a variety, and the service was impeccable! They accommodated a group of 12 easily and we tried all different things from the menu (that I forgot to take photos of before we scarfed the food down). We had everything from the tempura to sushi to the hibachi - and everything was flavorful. We also had two people with food allergies (peanuts, dairy, egg, shellfish) and the owner customized a beef and chicken yakisoba for us. Which was incredibly thoughtful! Went there twice - and never again ! Trip 1 - what I ordered was bland and lifeless . Figured it could've been my pick so we opted to try again at a later date . You can't judge a restaurant by its menu. My husband says this is an average sushi restaurant...I think it's worse than average. We got 3 specialty rolls : Hawaii roll, Spicy tuna and cream cheese (it's also fried, which did not make it taste good) and Sunrise roll. Their spicy tuna (in all 3 rolls) tastes like tuna fish from a can and is a puréed meat. Truly disgusting. The Hawaii roll is wrapped in yellow bandage-like sponge ... idk I've never seen this before and it's gross. I would give this place 2 stars but my husband didn't want me to annihilate this place. read more

Can't remember what I had the last time I went here. I know it was good so I had to come back. I wanted hibachi but I hadn't had whitefish hibachi. I order the whitefish hibachi with the teriyaki sauce and it came with soup. When I picked up the order I noticed there weren't any customers in the restaurant. I was surprised because the reviews here are generally great. Maybe people were out shopping. Anyway, I was greeted by the waitress and she gave me my order. The food smelled absolutely delicious on my way back to my house. When I opened the bag I checked out the soup that came with it. I'm not really sure what kind of soup it was it. I know it had tofu and tasted fishy. Not in a bad sort of way though. I wasn't much interested in it. Not because it was bad but I really just was amazed at how the whitefish hibachi looked. Even as a takeout order it looked so appealing. And when I actually tasted it I wasn't disappointed. I mixed in the yum yum sauce over the veggies and the rice and a smidgen on the teriyaki glazed fish. Every bite I tasted was wonderful. The veggies were crisp and fresh. The rice had a nice consistency. The teriyaki sauce on the whitefish is something I never had but surprisingly it works. Plus the fish was cooked to perfection. I really enjoyed my meal. I hope more people get to know about Little Tokyo. This was my second time eating from here and this experience was really enjoyable. I give it 5 stars. read more

Fresh! Flavorful! Friendly! My husband had sushi (the Sweetheart Roll, Mango Tuna roll and Sunrise roll) The rolls were works of art and delicious! He was stoked they a 22 oz Sapporo Beer in a can. I had steak hibachi. The portion was generous, steak was cooked medium rare perfectly and the rice was flavorful. We also had the tempura vegetable and seaweed salad. We stopped in here tonight for dinner, our server was great and the food was stellar. We had the gyoza, tuna nigiri, steak hibachi and chicken hibachi. My husband and I discovered this restaurant and we were very delighted. It seems when sushi restaurants become popular in this area the quality goes down a bit. It's been a while for both of us to have really fantastic and fresh quality sushi, little Tokyo delivered. We ended up with 3 rolls, and a sushi sashimi plate with a Cali roll to go, and only paid 77. In comparison to the prices of other places the price here was very good as well. A friend frequents Little Tokyo and invited me to join him. It was just after the lunch block on a Wednesday so we were the only diners and ordered light, just a few dishes to share "family style"... tempura shrimp and gyoza apps and two rolls of Friend's choosing. The tempura shrimp is delectable and different from other places, I highly recommend. Gyoza was the standard you'll find everywhere. The sushi were unique and tasty and I'd like to go back to try some of their others. What was very impressive aside from the food was the atmosphere. Located in a strip mall, the interior is beautifully and tastefully designed, very classy and relaxing; if they dim the lights at night it would be perfect and very intimate. The owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming. This is one of the better Asian restaurants in town, and that's saying a lot given how many there are now. The rice was especially buttery and perfect! The salad had a bit too much dressing for my taste. Might ask for it on the side next time. And the waitress (Yu Yu?) was very attentive and very kindly brought us out a new soup and spoon when we showed her that the spoon wasn't very clean. Okay, this review is going to be a little dramatic. My best friend and I had to evacuate New Orleans due to the aftermath of hurricane Ida. We arrived in Mobile hot, sweaty, sleepless, and on the verge of an emotional breakdown. Those of you who live in the Deep South know what it's like to lose power in the middle of a brutal summer. Gina, the bartender, welcomed us with open arms and was so sweet and kind that I actually started to cry. She reassured us that everything was going to be okay and I immediately felt better. Went in to place a to go order. Not very many people in the restaurant, given a 45-50 minute wait time. Not sure why. Seemed very disorganized. Although the food was ready before 50 minutes it smelled spoiled and looked unappetizing. Shrimp were small and not clean. Worried we would get sick. Had to throw it away. Very disappointed. Little Tokyo is the best Japanese food I have had! First I had the egg drop soup. It was thick and tasty , just the way I like it. My wife had the ginger salad. Vegetables were fresh and crisp and the ginger dressing was awesome. I have never had a ginger sauce I like until now! Appetizers- My wife had the vegetable roll and she said it was real good. She liked that it had asparagus in it. A real nice touch. I had the soft shell crap tempura with onion rings. The soft shell crab and onion rings were fried perfectly. My wife and I had the beef tataki. It was a rare filet mignon with cucumber lemon sauce. Lots of flavoring and cooked just right. Dinner - My wife had the chicken teriyaki hibachi and she loved it. I had the teriyaki filet mignon and shrimp. This was amazing!!! I ate all my vegetables! Lol. The vegetables were cooked perfectly as well as the rest of my meal. The fillet was nice and rare the way I like it. The shrimp was bursting with flavor. The rice was firm and fluffy. I didn't use any yum yum sauce for the first time eating hibachi! No hibachi grilled or smoke flavor though? The fried rice was basically the peas and carrots stuff, no whoop. The veggies were broccoli carrot zucchini. Well cooked but the sauce served on side was like thousand island dressing...not my fave... Service was decent, not many folks yet.
