We, joined Snap Gresham in November of 2022 and were required to pay a deposit of $25, for a scan…read morecard to get into the building since it's not always staffed. We were told it would be refunded when the card was returned. However, when we canceled our membership in, September of 2025 we were told that their policy is to give seniors (insurance-paid membership) back only $12. Talking to other members leaving the gym, some were told that seniors don't get any deposit refunded and others, although it took a couple of months, said they did get the full amount. When I informed Snap that Medicare would start paying for my membership, they informed me, as did Silver Sneakers, that I would pay nothing not even the yearly maintenance fee. This was true for 2 years. But in 2024 a charged of $35 showed up on my card. After getting Silver Sneakers involved I was finally able to get the money back. My husband was charged in 2025, and the owner, instead of admitting that seniors do not have to pay the maintenance fee, she stated why they charge the fee. He ended up disputing the charge with the credit card company and got the money back. They also put in a new rule that if seniors don't use the gym enough times each month (the number of times depends on which insurance program you have), you will be charged. For the first couple years, all was well. The class was made up of mostly seniors who wanted an intense workout. The instructors were friendly, caring, professional and knowledgeable, they gave us the push we needed to do our best. Always taking into account our abilities and correcting our form when needed. This was enough to keep us coming. In March 2025 they made a change to move the circuit class we were doing on Fridays to inside the classroom. Reasons we were given"to benefit the current and future members as well as staying relevant." Not sure what that means. The class was not the same when moved into a room. Ironically, during our last month they moved the same circuit class back out on the floor, only this time it will be a pay-to-use class. No mention of what the price will be. Unfortunately, instructors, format, and classes have been changed or canceled. We moved to a different gym that is... transparent, treated with respect by owners/staff and has more amenities for a lower price. So, for all the reasons above we can't recommend Snap Fitness anymore.

The House is not a gym, it's a group of coaches and trainers, who teach the correct body position, the reason behind it (helps me remember if I know the why) and how much to lift, based on where I am. The classes are small, it's not a "gym" with tv, lockers and roid heads or dudes trying to look at your butt (not mine). It's a group of folks dedicated to their health, the longevity, the long game is the heart of it. Exercise is not a fad, you do it and then you are done. This is what The House is great at. They are looking for you to learn the reasons you do it, how to pace it, how to develop, track and grow. Concrete example, in March, they had us test 1 perfect rep at the heaviest weight. If I can do a deadlift with 50lbs, that becomes my max. Now when I am working out and the rep 4-6x at 50% of max, I know I am working out with 25lbs. Now I have a goal to increase, and keep building. Education is an important component, not just lifting. As a woman, I never feel uncomfortable in this environment. 3 classes per week = 12x per month at $155? You cannot find a better deal in the Portland area.

A 30 minute Partner WOD ensued with dice choosing the movement for the round and a coin flip determining your repa - 10 (heads) or 20 (tails) reps for the next 30 minutes. Others are a bit more meditative. Very happy I found this. The variety is great so I can have some easier recovery days and some increased intensity. They provide high quality equipment and the instructors do a great job helping keep you mindful of your form and what muscles you should be hitting in each movement. They have a 3 week intro deal which is great way to check them out and try the different classes. If you do, I recommend trying a number of different classes because they all can be pretty different.

Due to the driving distance being "only" 2.5 hours, I went to their current box once for a memorial WOD, in August, 2013. The facility is spacious and the equipment new. The layout is well-planned and efficient. There is only one restroom, but I never saw anyone waiting in line ;) They have a challenging 800m run course that goes uphill! Coaching is fantastic. I didn't work out under Ben too much back in their garage box, but he provided me with the support and positive critiques on my visit here, that I expect from CrossFit coaching. He's very motivational and yet cognizant of physical limitations (I have a bad shoulder). Lyndi is still as great a coach as always, too. She has a way of inspiring more effort, just when I think I can't do any more. After giving me the basics, she has continued to applaud my progress on Facebook - a friend as well as a coach. :) Community - as I said, I was only here once for a memorial WOD, but I met several people who were friendly and encouraging, cheering for each other (and me). I would imagine they are like that with their fellow athletes on a regular basis. I wish I had been able to go WOD with Lyndi and Ben more, but will always be thankful for their introduction to CrossFit that set me on a lifelong path of functional fitness. If you have never tried CrossFit, don't short yourself - go do it! Someone might look at me, a 58-year-old woman with a bad shoulder, and not think it advisable to do such extreme workouts. The key is in the coaching! The key is in how CrossFit can be scaled to give the best results for each individual, no matter your fitness level, age, or physical limitations. It's a family owned business since 1977 and VERY family focused with owners who genuinely care about their members. If you're a parent and care about your child's safety, I wouldn't recommend enrolling at this gym!…read moreI'm writing this review not just as a parent who pays $150 per month for my membership with childcare, but also as a school director myself ,and a mandated Oregon State child safety reporter. Before posting this review, I have tried contacting the owner several times about child safety -- with no response. Here are a couple of child safety issues I have observed: -- Instance #1: About two months ago on a week night, a one and a half year old ran out from the kids center. And due to short staffing, it wasn't noticed by staff members. Luckily, I stopped the child from running out to the gym floor. When I brought this to the director's attention, (Cindy), she said that it never happened because the cameras didn't see it happen. Scoffing and rolling her eyes. She then got back on her tablet, and ignored me. --Instance #2: The child care was short staffed. When this happens, they put the older kids with the infants/toddlers. On a few of those instances, other parents and I, have seen the older kids hurt the smaller children (violently at times). After witnessing this, I tried to find the Director and she was no where to be found. She was on "Break". -- Instance #3: Last night (4/7/26) at roughly 5:15 pm. There was one staff member to probably 20 kids. I tried to talk to the director. Once again, she rudely rolled her eyes at me. Then her and the front desk girl started laughing and mocking me. And said within earshot, "What's her f**** problem". Hopefully after posting this review the, child safety issues are addressed. And the employee culture as well. ***Review update: The owner finally contacted me, and he said all the right things. I will update the review further if changes regarding the safety issues and toxic employee culture are truly addressed. ***
