It's right on the waterfront, on a pretty stretch of beach where you can see the ferries coming in and out. Formerly the South County Senior Center, then the Edmonds Senior Center, the buildings there were rebuilt into an environmentally-sound, multi-generational and multicultural center with all kinds of classes, programs, clinics, and events. My hubs and I went to the EWC last night to see wildlife photographer and author Paul Bannick speak about his new book on woodpeckers in North America. It was a fascinating talk and slideshow in their big room on the first floor! This is just one example of the great speakers and performers that the EWC hosts all the time. They have rooms with beautiful views of the water that you can rent. Last December, we went to a memorial there for a longtime family friend and it was a great place to honor her and her legacy. When I am retired, or when I can carve out more time in my schedule, I plan on taking advantage of the many classes offered at the EWC. For now, I'll keep going to their terrific events and enjoying the wonderful view.

I've been to several shelters in the past year to adopt and it's been up and down. I went here on a Saturday after work and brought home my fur ever baby girl. I'm a proud happy fur mom . This is the happiest day of my life . I cried so many tears of joy when I was able to adopt my new female dog. I named her Sasha. Previously known as Oldsmobile. Sasha is the absolute sweetest girl ever. Sasha is what my heart needed. As a puppy she is very smart. Introducing to crate has been fairly well. Eating wow this girl can eat, run, do sprints around the house, yard and is super excited. I am too lol. Potty training is going very well in the morning she wakes me up with kisses to say she has to go and stands by door we go out. We have a routine. Totally recommend Homeward Per adoption to everyone. You will never be disappointed. The accept donations from you if your pet has passed away, been surrendered or you just want to donate, food, toys, supplies for dogs and cats. Well, I could continue to give praises all day. Gotta go mommy duty is calling.

This is a wonderful organization that improves the quality of the community, although sometimes chaotic. I was there to pass along food items to donate. Boy, did I pick the wrong day and time. A prickly bossy woman was attempting to direct traffic. In the process she was confrontational with some of the patrons. A man unloading a truck heard the commotion she was creating and attempted to intervene. His kindness is appreciated, except for the crabby woman. (I won't call her a Lady). I don't need that kind of hassle when I'm there to participate for the community good. It's not worth the effort no matter what the price is.

That's what happened when one food bank volunteer named Lester told me that the Edmonds Food Bank could not help. Lester represents the insular types in Edmonds who automatically makes snap judgements about people. Even though he works at a food bank, Lester thinks he's the gatekeeper who has the right to deny people their basic needs. He gaslit me with some lame excuse about not having any drivers for drop off delivery because it's outside their service area. I knew he was untruthful because the food bank is less than a ten minute drive from my location. It's people like Lester whose reinforce the snobbish behavior that belies the cruel indifference of people at the Edmonds Food Bank.

Next step was able to put my mind at ease with an appointment within a week to confirm where I was in pregnancy. Because my last cycle and the original measurements didn't match as expected Barbara followed up with me to schedule another ultrasound two weeks later to make sure baby was progressing correctly. After the second ultrasound everything was great and now I am in my second trimester with a healthy baby boy! I owe so much thanks and gratitude to Barbara for her care and compassion through this early journey. Barbara has since text me to check in on me and baby to make sure everything continued positively. To have such an amazing clinic and caring people there in our neck of the woods is such a privilege. I will forever be grateful for my experience with Barbara and Next Step. I wish I could go here my whole pregnancy and cannot recommend Next Step enough!
