I was craving authentic Chinese food and was so glad I found this place. You can get your Kung Pao or General Tso stuff, and what I went for was the Preserved Pork with Bitter Melon, and the Chicken in sesame oil with bean. It doesn't look like much from the outside but for me, it was everything I wanted inside. read more

Free hot tea and free cold tea wow! All the food was really good, and they even have soup dumplings. We had the Shanghai-style rice cakes which were awesome, beef and Chinese broccoli, kung pao chicken, and scallion pancake. All were great, but the rice cakes definitely stood out. They were so good to put on the bottom and let soak up the sauces from the rest of your dishes. read more

I've been ordering from them since 2015 and the food jas always been good. My favorites are wonton in red hot chili sauce, fish fillet with chili bean sauce, general tso chicken. Their beer dishes are good too but I want to try below next time. Can someone please tell me what the name of this dish! Thanks read more

M's Kitchen - Can someone tell me the name of this dish? I want to try this next time - Chinese Near Me - Artesia, California

Authentic Chinese food. Underrated. Always happy with the food I ordered from there. Give it a try if you haven't. Very friendly service.

Love this hole in a wall Taiwanese/Chinese Restaurant, been going here for the last 8 years. General Tso is my favorite dish and also the A1 Vegetable not in the menu just ask for it. read more

M's Kitchen - a car parked in front of a restaurant - Chinese Near Me - Artesia, California

Authentic Taiwanese Chinese food (waisheng style). This place offers the perfectionistic minimalism of Taiwanese cooking-- no MSG, no excessive grease, no excessive chili or spices, only fresh and delightful ingredients carefully chosen and properly blended together. If you're still stubborn and think all Chinese food is greasy or otherwise flavorless, try this place. Staff is super friendly, speaks some limited English, parking is easy, accepted credit card (minimum $25?), clean dining environment. They serve free hot tea like most authentic Chinese places. read more

Good food! Best General Tso's Chicken we tasted! We are regulars and we always order General Tso's aside from other dishes.

I ordered 3 dinner dishes to go this evening, 2 of them came out so bad. One dish was beef with broccolic, the beef slices was burnt with charcol marks, and the entire dish smelled of burnt. Another dish also at near burnt with dried out pork chunks. I can't believed a resturant would take the risk to service these to the customers. I am just so disapointed in them. read more

Do not eat pho outside Bolsa rule applies to do not eat Chinese outside San Gabriel Valley for me. We had a mini yelp event and someone (non Chinese person obviously ;)) picked this place. There are 3 Chinese restaurants at the plaza and this one seemed to be more crowded. No chop suey? I don't order chop suey too often but lately I've been craving for that dish. The lady seemed confused when I ordered chop suey. I opted for beef with chili instead and I was disappointed. It's spicy alright and that's the only thing I tasted. The chili was more than the beef itself-see my picture. Positives: the restroom was super clean and service was great. 2 stars!! May's Kitchen is not yummylicious!! read more

As with most great places with humble beginnings, May's Kitchen is located in a nondescript and aging strip mall in the extremely diverse city of Artesia, California. Several Chinese and southeast Asian restaurants are located in the area, formerly anchored by Diho, a large Asian seafood market, on the northern side of the Little India district. Diho, unfortunately, currently sits vacant. May's, however, still manages to attract brisk business on days in which I visit. This is surely due to the fact that the food here is good and is affordable. There's also a big Asian clientele in the area to support this great hole-in-the-wall. In fact, there is a section in the menu that present an "economy" meal. You can't get more economical than that! I always come here during lunch, so most of my experiences here surround the lunch menu, which, for those dining in, is located at the back of the menu. That's where I recommend you turn to right away, unless you plan on having a large party come in. You get the soup of the day, a bucket of steam rice and the lunch entrée for one of three price sets, with the most expensive being $6.95. I usually go to the "pricier tier" because that's where most of the seafood is located. I typically get anything that doesn't require extra work to eat (i.e.: no shells or bones) and things that are spicy. Typically, I go for #33 (a.k.a. the fish fillet with spicy red bean sauce). That, along with a cup of soup is sufficient for me. In fact, I usually leave the place in a sweat, because, in addition to getting a spicy item, hot tea, and no real air conditioning, I don't like to order water at Chinese places (you know, trying to keep it OG and not seem like a wuss to the staff). The owner and their staff are pretty friendly and are very flexible. Sometimes I want to pay up at the counter, sometimes I pay at the table. Sometimes I pay with a credit card below the minimum amount recommended, sometimes I don't. You get the picture. By the way, Visa and Mastercard only here, with a recommended amount of $25 or more only. As with all Taiwanese-owned restaurants, you can bet they have some form of ice milk tea or boba to-go. I order one occasionally because the price is right (just a couple bucks) and the coffee is usually stronger than the stuff you get in American coffee houses. It's also a great way to cool off and hide the fact that you're suffering and sweating profusely from your refusal to get a glass of water...because you want to seem as in touch with your Chinese roots as possible. read more

May's Kitchen is located conveniently close to my grandparents' house so my grandparents like to take their friends here. They have a 3 dishes for $19 dollars deal, and who can say no to deals? Between six people, we ordered 5 dishes, and it came out to be around $50. For decent Chinese food, I'd be a fan! They also make their own milk teas here (and it's Buy 1 Get 1 Free). Service here is so cheerful, friendly, and helpful. You're bound to leave this place happy. read more

I have only been to Kim Tar for anything Wonton related but to my surprise Mays Kitchen had a way better taste at least #35, Wonton in hot chili oil, for $7.10 that's including tax. And it is not just they taste great, equivalent to Mi Lay Cay in the ABC Supermarket shopping center in Westminster or to New Dragon in Chinatown but they gave me a lot, I believe 10 but I started counting after I started eating. Will be back for the Economical Meal, 3 items under $20. read more

I first went here and was received with immediate attention from the woman working right away. She was so nice and spoke good English asking me how I found the place, which made me assume they didn't get a lot of non Asian traffic based on the clientele inside of it. I told her my friend recommended it to me and I saw great reviews on Yelp. I ordered the beef chow mein, no onions and spicy. She thanked me and recommended an economic meal to me for the next time I came in. I went home and had it, it was perfect. Traditional Chinese in an odd area made it feel so legitimate, the food might have tasted better because of it. I then asked my Fiance to go with em about a month later and she was somewhat afraid being not as open to new experiences as I am. We didn't get the economic meal but again got the Beef Chow Mein mild spicy, kung pao chicken no onions, and steamed rice. The server this time didn't speak English very well and did not make it spicy and put onions. But she brought us Tea and some corn egg foo yung soup. The food was still delicious and the experience honestly made it even more traditional. I am not hesitant at all to give this a perfect score since the food was delicious, the service was great, and the experience made it very real. They have made a lifetime fan out of me and I can't wait to go back with a few more friends to actually try the economic meal. read more

I eat out often but seldom write reviews. I'm currently inside my car right outside the restaurant. Exceptional service and bargain prices. Onion pancake- $3 General Tso's lunch special $8 (Comes with rice and sweet and sour soup) There is a $23 3 item anytime special so I guess I'll be taking that in next time I eat here. After my lunch the kind waitress had another lady carefully pack my food to go. Pro tip: the ice water here is amazing. And this is coming from a dude that reveled in Portland water. read more

May's is good.. Good for the 3 choice dishes. They have a variety of foods and they are pretty delish! We only been there once, but will sure come back again. This place doesn't seem to get packed (or maybe I just eat dinner at an odd time). Parking lot is easy and the restaurant is easy to find. I recommend the 3 flavor chicken!! YUM! read more

I know this place was something else before, spicy shabu shabu, but it's changed names since, so I decided to put a new review of this place up. This place is pretty good. I really liked their food. When we got there, I was really surprised. This place looks a little crazy. A little too Chinese for me. They had Chinese signs everywhere. And there was a huge Buddha near the register. And they had a lot of crazy little trinkets everywhere. But overall it was a good atmosphere. My mom and dad took a while to order, My dad would say he wanted to try something, and my mom would say, "We've already tried that!" And then then my dad would be like, "Well what about that?" And my mom would be all like, we should try something new! My parents are weird, I know. :-P Anyway we settled on 4 dishes, Sha-Cha sauce with beef, shrimp with egg (my personal favorite), chicken with sesame oil and soy bean sauce, and the snow crab and shredded pork with rice cake. I really liked the sha-cha because they put spinach in there, and I'm a sucker for spinach. This is the first time I've eaten here, but not the first time that I've had food from here. I believe they have take out as well, if you want to call ahead and order, and then pick up. Sorry they don't deliver!! read more

This unassuming restaurant serves up delicious Chinese/Taiwanese food and a very affordable price. My family ordered from their Economic Meal menu which offers a large selection of dishes for about $10/dish. Today we selected Eggplant w/ Basil Leaf, General Tso's Chicken, Shredded Pork w/ Dried Bean Curd and Sauteed Fish Fillet. Each dish was flavorful, without feeling too oily or salty, and the ingredients tasted fresh. The meals don't come with rice, which isn't a big deal (especially if you have a rice cooker at home). My family was very satisfied with our takeout experience and we're glad this restaurant is still open during these tough COVID times. We're looking forward to coming again and trying other dishes. read more

Pleasantly surprised! The food was pretty decent compared to places in San Gabriel area.

Super affordable and great family meals! This place has been opened for a long time already. We have even coming here for a couple of years and it has always had great business. Parking is a cinch and service is great but sometimes slow because there are usually only 2-3 waitresses. There is always seating available when we go. There is a great selection to choose from in the family meal menu. Their Kung pao shrimp used to be really good but it wasn't that great on our last visit. However, their orange chicken was crispy and very flavorful. Their tofu is also really good and their sautéed vegetable dishes are fresh. I would recommend many of the dishes but I would stay away from the seafood dishes. Besides the family menu, they have some cold dishes on the left side of the restaurant. The cold garlic cucumbers were kind of good but I've had better at other places before. read more

I love love love this place! I just moved from the hub of good Chinese food in the San Gabriel Valley and this place compares well. The staff is friendly and the prices are pretty good. The restaurant is family style and if you order 3+ dishes it is 24.95 for the 3 then 8.95 for each additional. Add $1 per person for rice The food is delicious and they are accommodating toward vegetarian and even Buddhist vegetarian (no onion or garlic). My boyfriend loves the garlic eggplant basil and spicy cabbage. Highly recommend those. They also have lunch special with free sweet and sour soup from 7.50-8.95 with rice. It's a great deal! read more

SOOO GOOD. I must be old school because I still call this place "Spicy Shabu Shabu." Name has changed but the food hasn't! 3 delicious items for $16.50? Prices are so good and the food is great. Everything is so flavorful and comes out HOT. My favorites are kung pao beef, chicken, and shrimp (yes, all three in one plate), fish in special wine sauce, egg with squash, general tso's chicken, twice cooked pork, shanghai spareribs, and more that I can't think of. I know it sounds like generic chinese food that you think you can get at any chinese place but you have to try it - its so delicious and the prices are very reasonable. Service is nice, place is clean, and the wait, if any, is usually not that bad. We always order more than we can finish so we can take it home and enjoy the left overs. read more

This is one of those great hidden Chinese spot that you will not find by driving by it. We went in with a party of 10, got seated in the big round table in the back, fitted everyone comfortably. The food was great, most importantly each one of us only had to pay $6.5 for 9 dishes total. Loved their spicy items. But out of the 9 dishes two of them I feel like they scammed us by giving us too much peanuts and orisons. Will try this place again when I am in the area. read more

We've been coming here for years, before it was called Spicy Shabu. Hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant in SoCal. Recently we tried the "economic meal", highly suggest. You get 3 dishes with rice and soup. Cliché, but the Orange peel chicken is really good. Not too oily, and the flavor Is really on point. So far all the dishes we've gotten are great, can't wait to go back and try more things off the menu. My personal favorites were the scallion pancakes, orange peel chicken and the green beans. read more

Food and amount of serving is good. Fast service and great customer service. I recommend this place for a good Chinese food.

Can't go wrong with doing family style here! Pick any three dishes from the menu for $16.50. My faves are: - braised string beans: always flavored just right with a nice crunch to the beans - shanghai pork ribs: sauce is sweet and tangy - shredded pork with bamboo: this is great for bamboo lovers My coworkers also like getting tofu dishes, lighter veggie dishes... Pretty authentic Chinese food that is enjoyable for my group of coworkers! The signs on the wall are ALL in Chinese characters, but don't worry--they have English on the menu which is definitely helpful for people that can't read Chinese like me!! They have less than 10 tables, so the place is small. And if you're going with a big group, try and go earlier to beat the lunch or dinner rush, since they only have like 2-3 tables that can seat up to 8 people. Lastly, May's Kitchen has this DELISH boba drink. It's this iced passion-fruity-lemony juice with clear aloe-y jelly and boba. I've added a picture on yelp, so please check it out! I don't think it has an English name..just look for it in the clear-glass fridge at the counter and point! :) read more

I found this place on yelp. I wanted something reasonable & good. I was pretty much sold when I found out that you can order 3 dishes for $16.50 + tax was around $20ish from the Economical Menu. It was really reasonable. It was kinda packed on a Friday night. Any additional is now $5.50. *Minimum $25 for credit card* 1. Pork with shredded bamboo - The bf and I liked this a lot. It wasn't too salty and tasted good on it's on. I wish it had more meat, but it was tasty indeed. 2. Braised sting bean - I like the black bean sauce and it had a strong smell that smells heavenly good. 3. Fillet fish with saute sauce - I love this fish and it came with some vegetables. I wish it had more flavor, but it was good for something I don't make :) Overall, it was good. I wish the service was better because we never got a refill on our rice. (-1) I believe they charge you for rice and tea so (-1) again for that, but other than that it's a good deal and there's plenty of left over. read more

So glad that this restaurant is open during these awful Covid times. While many have gone under, the fact that it is open is a testimony of the amazing quality of food served here. Who cannot enjoy an authentic foreign cuisine where the food is fresh and the flavors delight most even delicate and discerning palates? I have returned again and again to this restaurant and never have I been disappointed once trying new dishes. If you're looking for an amazing, clean and safe dining experience look no further.
