My boyfriend requested a Chinese restaurant with spicy food for his birthday dinner, and M's Kitchen popped up in my search on Yelp. This was a small mom and pop type of restaurant, but still had a very welcoming atmosphere. We are glad we got to try this restaurant because the food was super delicious and authentic! We tried the Fish Fillet with Szechuan special Sauce, Braised String Beans, Shrimp Broccoli, and Shrimp Fried Rice which were all very delicious. The food came out decently fast. We did the economic meal special which included 3 items from the list costing $32.98. The shrimp fried rice was not part of the list, but was just $9.99. The pricing was reasonable for the quality, but I wish the portions were a bit bigger. The service was excellent! Our server was extremely friendly, funny, and made the dinner experience memorable. We brought our own cake and she was accommodating with storing our cake in the fridge. When it came time to cutting the cake, she gladly offered and was persistent in cutting and serving the cake to us. Although this restaurant was more casual than expected, the service and food exceeded my expectations. This place deserves more attention. I really think this place deserves more love and attention! It's a mom and pop Chinese restaurant that boasts a big menu of home cooked dishes! I've been coming here for 3 years now! Back then, they were known as May's Kitchen! They still have the best Chinese food at affordable prices. What I love most is that they make everything fresh with lots of flavor. However, they don't rely on MSG or extra grease and oil like other Chinese restaurants to make their food tastes good. I always get the economic meals which comes with your choice of 3 dishes. If you get rice, this is definitely good to feed 3 people, maybe even 4 if you want to stretch it out. My go to dishes are: 1) Szechuan Fish: So yummy and spicy! The sauce is out of this world unique. There's a good amount of cabbage, green onions and been sprouts to balance the big portion of fish 2) Beef with Chinese broccoli: the Chinese broccoli is so crisp and crunchy. They cook it to perfection. The beef is tender and well seasoned 3) Kung pao chicken: not greasy and oily like other places makes it. It's well seasoned with a good balance of peanuts, onions and dried chili! The restaurant is small, quaint and cozy. The service is amazing! There's usually only one lady who runs the front of the restaurant. She's always super friendly and courteous to guests. She will bring you anything you need with a big smile. Very tasty Taiwanese / Chinese food. Friendly and fast service. On my first trip, I had Taiwanese rice noodle soup and my dad had the beef noodle soup. We both enjoyed our piping hot soups. The soups were flavorful. For the second trip, my dad ordered from lunch special the twice cooked pork and stir fry pickled mustard green with tofu and edamame. We've been visiting this place for more than 10 years. You can order a la cart or can order off of their lunch and dinner set menu. Our go-to dishes are Salt & Pepper Pork Chop, Salt & Pepple squid, Shredded beef with chili, Shrimp scrambled eggs, Preserved sausage with leek, String beans and other vegetable dishes. Came here for takeout in early January. Ordered ahead on the phone and when I got there, the order was almost ready. We decided to go with the Economic Meal, since we were getting food for 3 of us. 3 items for a little less then $40, which is decent, but not necessarily cheap. If you can, make your own rice at home since itll save you $1.50 each. We went with the Mongolian Beef, Tofu with Vegetables, and Fish Fillet with Special Wine Sauce. The Mongolian was flavorful and had a pack full of onions. It was not spectacular but solid. The Tofu dish had a decent amount, but the vegetables were seriously lacking. The tofu is the fried kind, which is more expensive and flavorful. Lastly, the Fish Fillet was good because the fish was smooth and the wine sauce wasnt overwhelming. It also included vegetables and some fungi. The meal also came with a cold tea, which was a nice add on. My boyfriend's parents decided to go here for lunch. There were just a few of customers at the time we went in. The chairs were not cleaned. After I sat down at our table, leaned back to rest my back; my t-shirt got stick to the chair, I have to pulled forward and kept my back straight and away from it the whole time. I was looked around to change to a different chair, but other chairs look like there are grease or something sticky there too. However, I can managed that, so it was okay. Anyways, the hot and sour soups were brought out and serve first. I'm not a fan of hot and sour soup, but it is good here; with lots of tofu, bamboo, mushroom, etc... We enjoyed the soup while wait for our other orders of Dried Shrimp with Chinese Squash (boyfriend's dad said that it was bitter, so he exchanged it with Eggplant with Hot Garlic Sauce), General Tso's Chicken (it was okay, looked like it's still pink and not fresh meat), Intestines in Hot Pot (my favorite), and Braised Pork Ball in Brown Sauce. Customer service was good and the waitress was very friendly. The Economic Meal with 3 items for only $23.95 with additional item for $8.00. We had a great lunch together. We were searching for a Taiwanese style restaurant in the area, and stumbled upon M's Kitchen on Yelp. Upon entering the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by Monica and Cathy, which only made the experience here even better. We ordered the steamed pork with vegetables and the beef with satay sauce lunch specials. We were not disappointed, not only were the dishes amazingly tasty, but they were not overly salty nor greasy. The beef satay comes with a generous amount of Taiwanese spinach, and the steamed pork lunch portion was amazing as well. Our lunch special came with a bowl of delicious hot and sour soup with lots of stuff in it... almost a small meal in itself. Hot tea is standard with the meal, which is always a great bonus, as more and more restaurants are charging for tea. We were surprised to find out that this great little hole in the wall restaurant has been here for over 13 years and we never knew about it, so now we are going to make up for lost time, as their menu is quite extensive and will require lots more visits in the future. My family and I are Chinese and this is one of our few local takeout spots when we want Chinese food but don't want to cook it. We ordered our Lunar New Year dinner here one day ahead of time, and when picking up, the employee taking orders and payment went out of her way to offer estimates on when the food was coming. We waited outside about 20 minutes and she must have come up to us 3 times of her own accord since she saw us waiting. Since their menu is so broad, you can't really go wrong with anything. However, I've loved their seafood fried rice, kungpao chicken, multiple version of their broiled fish in sauce, and spicy chicken (I believe that's the English translation), just to name a few. They also offer free tea with your order - I believe its one tea with every $25 or $30, but I suspect they've thrown in extras at times! Outdoor dining is offered as of mid February. read more

The Chinese waitress was very friendly and chatted with me a bit since I was by myself. I asked her about the 'Economic Meal' menu since it seems too good to be true. $16.95 for 3 dishes, although $1 extra for seafood, and $5.95 for each additional dish. I ordered 4 dishes to go (Twice cooked pork, fish filet with chili bean sauce, shrimp with hot garlic sauce, and braised string bean), and got a (Steamed Pork with Pickled Mustard Greens) lunch combo. Everything was authentic and fairly tasty, but I think they could have gone a little lighter on the oil and salt. I generally ask for less oil and salt at Chinese places, but forgot this time, so that's my bad. Parking was no problem and service was quick. Decent Chinese food in the Artesia area. I can't place where the cuisine is from, but definitely northern. Good menu selection between meats, fish, vegetables and tofu stuff. Look for the package plate deals deeper into the menu - I think it was 3 plates for $20. Staff here is pretty friendly. English is not the preferred language here. I've been coming here for about two years now and my parents ALWAYS request to eat here when they visit from Taiwan bc they're full-on Buddhist vegetarians which mean NO onions/ garlic. Well this place has been pretty good until last night when we ordered take-out at 8:30 since they said they close at 9 but the sign says they close at 9:30? (they said it happened to be cleaning night so its okay. But our food was where the problem was. When we ordered, we specifically said no onions/ no garlic twice to the lady. When we got home there were tons of garlic and when we called the lady, she pretty much said its impossible (as if we're lying...) since they never put garlic in that dish and she has no way of asking the chef.
