I had been to the Rowland Heights location in several years ago and I liked it, so I wanted to give this location a try. Unfortunately, it was a bit disappointing since some of the dishes didn't feel as authentic as I remembered. The Taiwanese sausage was not good at all, and the pork chop was also underwhelming. The stir-fried noodles and popcorn chicken were the only dishes we really enjoyed. The service wasn't very attentive, either. This is one of the few authentic Taiwanese "theme" restaurants, with some unique specialties. I was pleasantly surprised that the store nearly full and about half of the patrons were non-Chinese, it's great that more and more people are discovering authentic Taiwanese food. We usually come here for Taiwanese bento and beef noodle soup, and we decided to try something different this time, and everything was good. The highlight was definitely the stinky Tofu, it was perfectly fried and with a nice "stinky" smell, and it was very good. Ok this one is probably not for beginners, as it is likely an acquired taste. The thick noodles was soothing and just what we needed. The satay hot pot was very good, we had enough to bring home and continue to enjoy the next day. I called it a "themed" restaurant because the store was originally modeled after an elementary school 3rd grade classroom, the chairs, tables, bulletin board and blackboard, even the menu is sort of what you might find at a school cafeteria (of course much more fancy), there is a nostalgic, cute feeling for those of us grew up in Taiwan. Food is good and well portioned.. many of the dishes are shareable.. from what I saw from my neighbors. tables are school desks, it's cute.. we ordered shaved ice, and the flavors we had are subtle despite the numerous toppings. Friendly staff but service may be slower for dining since it's probably mostly a boba and ice joint, the way it's set up. The classroom theme is done well. For food, the wontons and noodles were okay. You get huge portions for all noodle soups. The oyster omelet is not bad, good ratio of ingredients and sauce. It's a little more fried eggy than average I think, reminded me of one I had at the Taipei 101 food court rather than night market or maybe US Shihlin spots. I wouldn't mind ordering any of these again. The popcorn chicken was dry. The fried tofu had the right stink but zero flavor or seasoning. The boba had mushy pearls and the tea was a bit too milky for me. Also the crazy soup container size trend I feel should have come and gone. No way I can finish that size even if it was good. Decided on some boba for a dessert and Class 302 Cafe was conveniently there. Service was nice and friendly. Ordered at the counter, and drinks were out in under 10 minutes. Cozy and warm, nice liveliness to the place. Feels like a casual spot or a homey comfort spot! Got the 302 Milk Tea with grass jelly as an add-on. Average milk tea, nothing special. Average amount of ice, could be considered as too much for some people. A little too sweet initially for my liking but not overbearing and I'm not sure if they make adjustments because I didn't look into it or ask. I'd say that their original sweetness is like 80-90% level compared to the trendy affordable boba shops, and when the ice melts, it tastes 60-70% sweetness, which should be fine but it's just a bit bland when the ice completely melts for me (my preference is 60-80% sweetness for reference). For about $7, their small is worth it for 32oz, which is more than enough and a good deal for me. Can't say I'd recommend for taste and quality but for nostalgia, convenience, and quantity, I'd say it's a good option when you're in the area. "Sit wherever you like", so we do. "Not this table, it's for bigger groups". That gave us the best laugh, specifically the area he pointed after, all the tables were extra dirty, with plates from previous patrons. So we sat on the 1 clean table available. We had the shaved ice. He only brought one spoon even tho he knew we were sharing. So I got up and got an extra one. We were almost done, and the waiter brings the 2 cups and spoons, lol. Came here on Saturday around 6pm. It was almost full when we came. The restaurant is themed like a classroom so for taller people, you will not be able to cross your legs under the table. We always get the cold noodles with chicken which already got finished before the pork rib fried came to our table. It's delicious and refreshing on a hot day. The sauce is on the side so you can adjust it to your liking. The fried rice is great as well. The breading on the pork is crispy and the pork is soft. For dessert we built our own shaved ice. Strawberry ice with mango, mochi, taro, red bean, and egg pudding. The mango was super sweet, the taro pieces were quite big, and the mochi pieces are chewy and the texture is so satisfying. The red bean is standard. The egg pudding was hidden under the ice and was good as well. This place is a great place to come by to try some taiwanese cuisine. It holds a bit of nostalgia for me since I used to visit the Irvine location all the time for their self-serve toppings, so it has a special place in my memory. We stopped here for a drink while waiting for seats for a restaurant in the plaza. When we walked in, the place was quaint and we were tempted to stay and eat here instead as their menu looked interesting. However, we decided to stick to our original plan and wait to be called. Ordering was simple and everyone was able to find something on their drink menu that interested us. Service was quick once we flagged someone to come help us and our order came out soon. We went outside to enjoy our drinks and wait for our seats. I did not enjoy my drink (regular milk tea, less sweet with boba), and thought it tasted pretty watered down. The interior decor is reminiscent of a classroom with desks, drawings on the wall, both backed chairs and stools. We selected the Spicy Pork Noodle Soup combo with popcorn chicken as the side. The soup a solid 3-Star broth. It has umami, it does have some slight creaminess from bone proteins, but it is a simple one-note flavor. If you want deep and complex soup I suggest checking out YGF Malatang nearby. Here at Class 302 the egg noodle portions are more than any other soup places I can think of, so my picture has a high liquid level that deceptively hides the egg noodles. Popcorn chicken is lightly breaded, less crunchy but certainly healthier. It comes with a sweet and sour dipping sauce, but I also enjoyed it as is or with the extra pork chop sauce from other dish. The second item ordered was the Taiwanese braised pork chop bento box. Pork chop was slightly fatty, medium-heavy brown sauce that was tasty first five bites but slightly salty on the last five. Bento comes with rice and three sides. Rice has some minced beef on top for extra flavor. Both green beans and cabbage/mushroom sides were both generic stir-fried approaches, and the curry potatoes tasted like a packet but I really enjoyed their flavor and texture. read more

Absolutely lost a customer. Frequently come here every so often when I'm craving the classic MSG Taiwanese meals. We have also shared and brought many friends here. Unfortunately we wont't be back because of the terrible service and unsanitary and hazardous conditions the owners keep this restaurant in. Such a disappointment. It was disgustingly humid, hot, sticky and stuffy. Felt like I was at a swamp. When I made a comment they just brushed it off and ignored it. How cheap are the owners to NOT turn on the AC when it's hitting 90s outside. Everything was sticky, the menu, the tables. The cushions on the seats were visibly dirty too. Right when you walk in the whole establishment smelled like shit. Literally like sewage, which smelled like stinky tofu. IYKYK. Restroom wasn't clean either, go figure. Another HUGE health violation occurred as well. There was a dog at another table sitting on the seat as if they're a paying customer. Clearly not a service dog. I absolutely love dogs but not at establishments that serve food that is sitting at the table. Especially if they're not working dogs, clearly this one was not a working dog. I would prefer not to have dog fur in my food. FYI this location violated health code regulations: "Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service dogs are allowed in restaurants, but they must remain on the floor, not on seats or tables. Health codes prohibit animals on furniture to prevent contamination." This whole environment of the restaurant and its unsanitary health violations makes me question how clean this restaurant is. Because if it's stuffy and terrible ventilation along with no air conditioning in the dining area how bad is it in the kitchen??? Food made with some sweat. Yum. read more

My family loves coming here since their have a wide variety of selections. I typically order their popcorn chicken bento which comes with rice and 2-3 sides (broccoli, radishes, squash, etc.). They also have miso soup, hotpots, and dim sum. They're popular for their shaved ice as well which can be shared with many people. Their drink selection also varies from milk teas, fruit teas, and smoothies. I love how the interior decor resembles that of a typical classroom. It does get busy on the weekends so prepare to wait. Aw, this is Class 302 on South St is still here?? The last photos I posted on Yelp were from 2014! It's great to see some things didn't change - the decor, the chalkboard menu, the tables, the chairs, bowls, etc. I stopped by recently (now 2024) to see if they still had really good shaved snow, and they still do! The prices have gone up since ten years ago, but I'm glad to know the dessert is still good. The milk tea is still good. Hot almond milk tea still hits the spot on a cold evening. At my visit, they were really busy, but I feel like the server guys did a good job trying to stay sane. Parking in this plaza is so bad. There are so many patrons always. I ended up ordering their milk tea and honey lemon green tea. Both drinks were of good quality, so I'll be back! Since I came before the peak dinner rush, there were some available parking spots in the plaza. It would be hard to find parking on the weekends and during peak meal times though, so be aware! Class 302 always has a sort of nostalgia factor for me. I love the little classroom seating and design of the restaurant. Their food hits so close to home with delicious Taiwanese dishes made to perfection. We got the special stew and pork chop fried rice. Both came out piping hot and fresh! We've been loyal customers for years, even driving out to this location ever since the Rowland Heights spot closed. But after this most recent experience, we won't be coming back. We placed an order that included popcorn chicken, which we did not receive. We realized this as soon as arrived home and opened both bags. After calling the restaurant, an employee said they would bring it up to the manager William for a refund, and we also emailed their general email for transparency. In response, we got a message from William that was not only unnecessary but also disappointing. He mentioned that their CCTV footage confirmed the chicken was packed, and their staff double-checked everything. He then added, "we are in no way accusing anybody of lying." This statement felt out of place and unnecessary, given the extensive lengths William went through to overexplain their investigation into our order, especially considering we simply did not receive what we paid for. We simply reached out to let their business know we didn't receive our full order and wanted a refund for what we didn't receive and paid for, yet they felt the need to mention CCTV footage and staff verification, which made it seem like they were doubting our claim. By focusing on their internal processes, it felt like William were subtly shifting the responsibility to us to prove that the item wasn't in the bag when we received it. Instead of simply addressing our concern and resolving it, William's response implied that the mistake must have occurred elsewhere, indirectly placing the burden on us to prove otherwise. Even though he admitted in the end that it was their fault, the focus on verifying everything on their end made it seem like they were covering their own bases and that onus was on us to prove the chicken wasn't in the order, which is not the kind of treatment we expect as loyal customers. A better approach would have been to simply say, "We're sorry you didn't receive your popcorn chicken, and we'll take care of the refund immediately." As paying customers, we expect to get what we paid for. To clarify: we received two bags: one with three drinks and another with two styrofoam boxes (oyster omelet, bacon fried rice, and the accompanying sauce). There was no popcorn chicken. Yet somehow, William's message implied otherwise. For a local business we've supported for years, this interaction was incredibly disappointing. After being treated this way, we've decided not to return. We welcome Class 302 to show us the CCTV footage that shows our entire order was placed in the two bags we were given. We got 3 drinks, Taiwanese oysters omelet with sauce, popcorn chicken, and spicy bacon fried rice. Abby, the cashier put in our order. She was the one who also gave us our drinks and food in the bag. When we got home, we realized (after driving 45 min back home) we didn't get our popcorn chicken order when we opened Togo bag. Therefore, my boyfriend called the restaurant and spoke to Elyssa. She stated that she'll call the manager and "take care of it" but didn't know exactly what will happen. My boyfriend just asked for a refund of the popcorn chicken since we didn't receive it at all. He asked and offered her if we need to send pictures of our food and receipt. She none was needed. My boyfriend also emailed the store about this situation in case nothing gets resolved. We quickly got the response of William, the store manager. (I'll post the email William sent us in the photo section.) He basically called us liars that we did get our full order! He stated he saw in CCTV and called his staff stating that they packed all of our order, including the popcorn chicken. I don't know where it is in the bag cuz it certainly wasn't in the bag it came in. I really really want to see the CCTV footage and prove to William and the staff that it wasn't packed in the Togo bag that Abby handed to me before I left. I personally like the Taiwanese shaved ice better. Highly suggest coming here to try it. Another favorite is their popcorn chicken. They offer no spicy, mild, medium, or spicy option. Don't get the Taiwanese Oyster Omelet, the oyster is fishy. However the omelet itself was good. Spicy Bacon Fried Rice is too salty in my opinion. The boba teas are really good. Not too sweet. Boba is perfectly sweet and chewy. Service is slow on the weekends. I think they need 1 more person to help with service. Decided to give this place a try since we wanted to give the kids an opportunity to try Taiwanese shaved ice. Ambiance is a children's classroom, so there's a bit to look at if it's your first time. Pros: got the mango shaved ice and it is amazing. Super ripe mangos and soft mochi surrounds a mountain of soft, fluffy mango shaved ice. The mango flavor is melded with the ice so its like almost ice cream and not that fruit flavored syrup on stop of crunchy ice you find at the supermarket in the fresh seafood aisle (which is why I can't stand with slushies). The bottom has silky sweet tofu that even my kids enjoyed. They ate until they got too cold, waited a bit to warm up and continued again. Cons: we waited at least 40 mins after ordering without even receiving water. Two large tables that arrived after us received their order before we did. I knew the food was slow from my review last year, but what the heck! We flagged down a server and apparently our order never went into the system. They expedited our shaved ice order and comped it free (my drink was still charged but it's fine). It came out about 5 mins later. We ended up staying well past the kids bed time due to the wait, but the dessert was dang good and appreciate their efforts in rectifying the issue. Would return again.
