Stopped here on one leg of our family New England donut tour. We really enjoyed the donuts. We had a coconut, jelly, honey dip and cinnamon donut. We liked everything except for the honey dip, which we all found too sweet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I think the customer flow is needlessly complicated and people trying to get breakfast probably get frustrated. One cool thing is that they will sell you a bucket of ice for a pretty reasonable price. read more

When it comes to Donuts, I've never had any better. Particularly if you get there real early when they open, so that they're really fresh. Ok...so most of my experiences weren't from getting up early (I've always been a late sleeper), but I've had lots of "Hey look what Dad went and got for breakfast" experiences with them. In general they're fresher and better than Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme. Mrs. Murphy's is what you bring to the office when it's your turn to get the donuts on Friday and you want to really give your coworkers a treat. The only bad thing to say that I can think of is that their parking lot has always irritated me...but that's probably because if I'm the one that actually drove it means I just woke up and I'm irritable. **SIGH** - Why is this place so far away from me? Price - It's a little more money per donut than Dunkin, but well worth it. Overall I think the prices are very reasonable - cheap even. Insider Tips: Something to keep in mind, they make desserts too, like eclairs, turnovers, etc. Some lunch type stuff too. read more

The best doughnuts of all time...seriously good. Always fresh. Great variety. Fresh made pastry, cookies, coffee and breakfast as well. The prices are great ($1.10/doughnut) ($6.05/half dozen) and ($8.50/dozen). Seating inside for about 35 or so and outdoor seating as well (when it's warm enough!). This place had to have been one of the best donut joints I have ever been too(right up there with backdoor donuts, In MV). The Glazed and Cinnamon donuts were most defiantly something to write home about. They were moist and cakey on the inside(something I usually do not enjoy in a donut but I loved these). Their flavor profile was something my taste buds throughly enjoyed. That being said my glazed cruller left something to be desired. Now let's talk about the atmosphere. The restaurant defiantly had an older crowd as well as a very cozy vibe. There was one large counter were it looked as if strangers sat down to eat their meal and chat with the regulars. It felt like I was walking into the good old corner store(those were the days). When I first arrived the line was out the door however the workers there did a quick and efficient job of getting everyone their donuts in a timely manner. Miss Murphys donuts also has a very interesting location as it is not near many other restaurants(except for, ironically, a Dunkin Donuts. All in all, Miss Murphys donuts is a quality establishment and if I lived closer I'd defiantly be back soon. However it did not stand out to me as I had hoped it would which is why I am giving it 4 stars. Mrs. Murphy's Donuts 7/1/17 I took the 58 mile drive to Southwick from southern Connecticut just to try Mrs. Murphy's Donuts. My son says Mrs. Murphy's Donuts are better than Neil's Doughnuts in Wallingford, CT. I wanted to find out for myself if what he tells me agrees with my take on them. Ok, so here goes: I bought three each, glazed crullers, Strawberry jelly, and Raspberry jelly donuts from Mrs. Murphy's. Three of us (my sister, my neighbor, & I) tried each. Our conclusions all agreed that Neil's are far and away better products than we had from Mrs. Murphy's. That's NOT to say we didn't like these donuts, only that Neil's sets the bar way too high for any real comparison. Additionally, Neil's donuts are all the same, very reasonable price. There's no premium for certain donuts, like there is here. If we'd never eaten donuts from Neil's, these would have been fine. But these donuts, in our collective opinion, are more akin to Dunkin Donuts than to a real, old fashioned handmade donut. Just to note, there was a long line of folks waiting in line for these products much as there is at Neil's. So clearly, folks in the area love these donuts. I also tried an apple fritter, something Neil's doesn't offer. Other than being overly sweet, it was very good, had lots of apple flavor, & pieces of apple. Don't ever order anything for a party from here. Even if you place the order in advance they do not allow you to go in to pick it up. They make you go through a one way drive through and wait in a single file line for them to make everyone else's order which takes 20+ min. Horrible service. It doesn't get any better than Mrs. Murphy's. It is a southern NE tradition - and if you are within an hour of Granville, it is worth the drive! The chocolate glazed are heavenly, the glazed sticks delightful, but do yourself a favor and call ahead to see if they have fresh apple fritters. Holy cow, they are the best. Absolutely. There is often a wait BUT most people don't know you can call ahead and have them set a few aside. Even when they aren't warm out of the oven, the fritters are perfection. Glazed, but not heavily. Bits of fresh Granville apples. Fried, but not greasy. HUGE. Amazing. Incredible. I'm insanely hungry just thinking about them. The jelly donuts are also terrific - fresh, chewy, and with real sugar not powdered. Coffee is hot and fresh, counter service is excellent, the only issue is the line on Saturday and Sunday mornings. There donuts are excellent but good luck in getting them. The inside is permanently closed and the outside drive up only has a limited selection. Since the qonwer recently died the daughter took over and it seems her business sense is a lot to be desired. I hope someone buys them out and brings back the old days when you could walk into the resturant and smell frshly baking donughnuts with dozens to choose from (not the limit variety now) and a place where retireed individuals can sit, talk, have a cup of coffee and some of their delicious soup. These could quite possibly be some of the best donuts I ever had!!! Today I picked up an old friend of mine and we ventured out to Southwick for a leisurely ride around town! Obviously we had to stop for a donut and coffee!! I got a toasted almond iced coffee! It had good flavor but I do like my coffee to be a bit stronger! The star however was the Boston cream donut! The couple in front of me had taken the last one, so I thought maybe they had some in the back! I asked if they had anymore and she said no but she would be happy to make me one! I was in shock! A freshly made Boston cream donut.... YES PLEASE! It only took a minute and voila, my Boston cream was ready!
