We celebrated our Anniversary with a dinner at MRBL. The atmosphere is amazing and the view makes the experience even more elevated. Their attention to detail and service was impeccable. We arrived to rose petals on our table and were given a complementary desert with champagne. Our waitress, Rose, was very descriptive and provided helpful recommendations for our first visit. The food was amazing and was seasoned to perfection. We really appreciated the Friday evening music. The musician had a pleasing voice and it was not overbearing. Wow! At first sight as I stopped off the elevator I knew I was in a for a a great treat! First the cocktails will knock your socks off, but sure to try something with a smokey appeal. Happy Hour on Sunday 12-17-23 . We sat in the bar, open seating/first come. Several high tops and many seats at the bar. We had several items from the Happy Hour menu.. Wagyu Hot Dogs , Kobe Beef Sliders, Shishito peppers, Brie Bites, Crab slider, and brussels (from the regular menu). Everything was very tasty, except for the Crab Slider, no one cared for it. I celebrated my 38th birthday here! The environment was very nice and upscale, it was live music which we enjoyed! Our waitress was very attentive, and describe the menu to us when we had questions. We didn't enjoy the view because the shades were down due to the sun so I would suggest going later on in the evening to enjoy the view. The food was great. My husband enjoyed his sushi. About last night...our first time at MRBL and it definitely will not be the last! The ambiance was classy and lounge-like but not pretentious at all. There is an amazing view of the Cincinnati Skyline and I'm so glad we had a reservation after it was dark because it only added to the dreamy vibe. Our server, Miles, was top notch as well! He made excellent recommendations and timed our our meal perfectly! We started with drinks and a sushi roll for an app. My dirty vodka martini with blue cheese stuffed olives was just perfect and my husband loved their Gincinnati cocktail. The Surf n' Turf sushi roll was so interesting and delicious!! I'd definitely order that again. For our meals, I ordered the 14oz Ribeye medium rare, with the addition of the creamy blue cheese and then also their crispy fries! There wasn't a single thing about my meal that didn't make me do a little happy dance...it was all so scrumptious and the best part is that since it was so much food, I get to have it again today for lunch!! My husband ordered the MRBL Wellington and the creamed corn and we both loved his meal as well!!! This is hands down my new favorite steakhouse in the area. My favorite steakhouse (Trotta's) closed late last year and although the price point here is a bit more, it's definitely not unreasonable. To top off our incredible experience, Miles brought out the cutest and most delicious mini dessert for me since I was celebrating passing a big exam! Let me preface this by mentioning this is the first restaurant review I've ever done. We were so excited to try this restaurant and everything was so thoroughly disappointing. The stars are for ambiance-only. Our server was fine, but there was really weird timing going on. We were told 4-5 times our menus were coming, yet it was 30 minutes before we got them. We were ready for our second round of drinks by then. The server seemed to point out the 'good' things on the menu; i.e. crab cake appetizer, any steak and addition, and sea bass. We are not sushi eaters. I felt wrong to order a different appetizer and entree. The appetizer was so underwhelming I almost forgot to include it in the review. Waygu beef flatbread - all you could taste was the balsamic vinegar. Salads were underwhelming but they were really good about splitting them to share. Two ordered steaks, one the special chateaubriand, and I don't eat beef and ordered the seafood risotto. So both steaks were ordered medium and came out very 'done'. The server could see from a distance they were wrong. They apologized and re-fired new ones which came out way more rare than medium. One person didn't mind, the other planned to take most of it home to cook it more. Same thing with the chateaubriand. We were warned it was 'rare+' so the pastry doesn't burn. But it was so rare the inside wasn't even warm. So, she was also going to take hers home to cook it more. I had the seafood risotto that had a nice flavor and nice scallops, but was not very warm. I tried to bury the scallops under the bottom so they would get a little warmer. When the new steaks came out the manager, server, chef, and another person all hovered while they cut into them. At that point none of us had the energy to complain any more. The sides were ok -not special. Even the potato volcano had so much gloppy cheese around it you could hardly taste anything else. The 'owner' came around later and had no idea we had trouble with the food and his only comment was 'ha ha be glad I didn't cook it'! And I have stopped expecting much in the way of 'comping'. But we weren't even comped a couple of drinks while the two waited for their new steaks. Nothing. read more

We just love walking into MRBL. It's a beautiful restaurant, with great furniture. We love the glassware too. The customer service was outstanding, as well as the food. Never even had to ask for refills of water or anything. We especially enjoyed the sushi rolls. We had a really nice time tonight. We appreciated the managers checking up on us. Stopped in for their first ever brunch service after receiving a VIP email invite. We were seated immediately and our server, who was the one to seat us, was attentive and warm. Took a minute for my Coke to come, but she kept me refilled throughout our meal. I had a full plate of French toast, which came with plenty of syrup. I asked for a side of bacon, which was not on the menu, but was no problem. My friend had the Ham and Cheese omelette and she asked for a side of toast also not on the menu. We had to ask for butter; the server also found some blackberry compote to accompany the bread. My french toast was standard and fine, but lacked any sizzle or flair. My friend enjoyed her dish and took half of it home due to the generous portion. My only criticism was that the kitchen was very slow, but we were kept updated by our server, were checked on by the manager, and the view is pretty enough (both inside and out) that it wasn't an awful wait. I'd love to see them expand their hours full-time, but maybe not offer the full menu at breakfast if it's going to overwhelm the folks in the back? This was our first visit, and it will be our last. The food and the service were both lackluster. I ordered a beef Wellington, but that is not what was brought to me. I am not sure what it was that was on my plate, but I did send it back. Our tables were not cleared of dirty dishes in a timely manner although there were several bussers and attendants that walked past us and never offered to remove plates. The manager was clueless about customer service. He actually brought me my replacement order and never asked me what the problem was with the original order that I placed.To me this is just an excusable as far as customer service is concerned. Again, very cool location. Starters were fine, definitely not too bad, and staff was decent overall. The steak though, underwhelming. Sides were also kind of disappointing. I mean, for what you pay for what you get, I'd rather go to other places. Now, am I going to flat out refuse to go again? No, I'll definitely give it another try because I think this place could be a lot better than maybe that experience offered. If anything, very cool location of course with a great view of downtown. The chicken was not great and had way too much sauce on it. The sea bass was decent but also underwhelming. The steak tartare was not good at all. Had a great experience at MRBL!! I'm very picky when it comes to steakhouses and Cincinnati has some great ones but I was blown away by MRBL. It's a tiny bit hard to find but once you find it, it's fine. It's on the fourth floor and has a great view of the river. We started with mussels as an appetizer, they were buttery, garlic, perfection with toast points. Then I had a filet and split the brussels sprouts, the sides are shareable. It was plenty of food. Plus, they have half off bottles of wine on Wednesday night. The service was good, the ambience is great, there was live music and the singer songwriter woman who was playing was really good without being really loud. Less than average when you compare the prices. The service while friendly is untrained to some extent. Several courses missing replacement silverware. Did I mention the empty plates always on the table? Understaff, servers, managers and all passing by and it seems this is nobody's job. Amy got a Wellington and after dining all over the country and outside of the country with her this is the one plate she sent back. The crust was like phyllo. The layers non existent. My husband and I came here for our wedding anniversary dinner - intrigued by having a steakhouse in the town where we grew up, where 15 years ago, one of the most "sit down" places was a Frisch's - crazy how places change so quickly! We definitely got a big sampling of what they have to offer for just the two of us (how fun is it to get a sushi roll named after your hometown)! With MRBL I think you're definitely paying for the experience of a higher end ambiance as much as you are the food. We had a reservation for Sunday night and got right in a little before our reservation time. Our table was on the corner and we could see the awesome view of downtown from where we were sitting. Our food came out fairly quickly and our server and other staff were pretty welcoming. There were a few simple things that surprised me from a place with a higher price tag (my husband didn't get his water for a while in the beginning, when they brought our steaks we didn't get steak knives and had to wait to catch someone and ask for them) that we were fine to be flexible about because otherwise the service was awesome, but I worry someone who is less than kind would make a scene over. Overall the food was pretty good, and it was a fun experience to dress up and have our nicer dining experience! However, I would be okay with this being our only visit. If you are someone who dines out more for the experience and ambiance or for a special occasion, this would be the place for you. Our first visit and it won't be our last! We started in the bar for Happy Hour, we were waiting for our dinner friends. So this was our initial stop. Every staff member was gracious, friendly and immediate service. Nice happy hour menu!!! We decided to try something new to celebrate our anniversary. MRBL is absolutely gorgeous inside and a lot of attention was paid to make it gorgeous. The view was also pretty spectacular. Our server was sweet and very knowledgeable about the menu. We were starving so we ordered the blue crab dip. It was delicious and very rich and filling. For the second course we each got a salad. My husband enjoyed his marble salad and the Caprese salad was one of the best I've had. I enjoyed the presentation and the roasted cherry tomatoes. Their sushi rolls are huge so the large price tag matches what you'll get. It was impossible to finish. I order the newer version of their mani mahi- topped with goat cheese pesto. I was so stuffed from the first two courses (eyes definitely bigger than my stomach!) I only had two bites. The dish seemed a bit salty for me and the goat cheese overpowered the pesto. We enjoyed sharing a dessert like cocktail that was a bit like a espresso martini/affogato. We enjoyed the live music from the bar and felt it was a nice addition to our evening. As many others have said the experience overall doesn't match the menu prices. If you go expecting a Ruby experience, you'll be disappointed. If you are looking for a beautiful space and something new it's a good spot to try. The length of the meal was rather long as many have mentioned- a lot of time between courses and sometimes long waits for drinks.
