So friendly atmosphere warm and friendly, I ordered takeout (walk-in) not rushed, relaxed. I can't wait to try the food. If it's the same as front of house I'm sure I'll be back.

Sushi )Tuna, Salmon, Crab) and Rolls (Kiss of Fire & Sunshine Roll)

Walked I'm on a Friday night, looked packed from the parking lot but surprisingly was only a 15 min wait. You can call ahead or make reservations (good to know for future). The restaurant is a little bigger than it looks, they have a small bar at the front and sushi bar on the middle and some hidden tables in the back. Not a bad value for all you can eat. But beware all you can eat while dining in, you will be charged for what you don't consume. The first appetizers, salad and hibachi meal was a smaller portion which I liked because you can try out more of a variety. The rolls were larger than we expected based off of the portions of the salad and appetizer. I kind of wished they were smaller so we could have tried more! But glad we didn't order more because if you have more than 2 pieces of sushi or roll left they charge you. I knew they charged but wasn't exactly sure how it worked. We ordered just enough. As far as the sushi and rolls, it was decent for the price but definitely not high end, top quality sushi like we normally eat. A few of the pieces were a little "fishy" to me but overall not a bad value. Extremely fast service. I would recommend ordering as you go because most everything came out in a very timely manner.

I have been waiting to go to Mr. Tokyo for a while now. My daughter and I got the chance to go on a Saturday in late January. The atmosphere is kind of what you would expect for an all you can eat sushi joint. The waitress quickly took our order and was back often to grab our finished plates and put our next order in. I will say if you want to try different rolls and can eat, it is well worth it. My daughter, 13 was charged as an adult, and I'm not sure California Rolls and Seaweed Salad was worth the $23. We definitely shared some rolls and got to try a decent amount. I started with the Dragon, which was fine, but they got progressively better as I tried other rolls. I really like the Mr. Tokyo Roll, and I really, really liked the Rock and Roll. All and all, a really nice experience, with some great food!

Food was delicious. Everything was fresh Service was a little slow, but friendly. Inside of the restaurant is very nice and clean

We went here on a very busy Friday Night, and had a pretty considerable wait to get in. Even though it was super busy, our service was very good once we got to our table. The waiter we had was very friendly, helpful, and courteous. He even helped with specializing a few of our orders more to our liking. We were a little unimpressed with a lot of the things we ordered. There was nothing wrong, it just didn't "wow us" compared to other AYCE Sushi/Hibachi places in the local areas. I found a lot of the sushi we had to be very indistinguishable from different types that we ordered. I am not sure if it was a mistake, but a lot of them that said they would have eel sauce, or the spicy mayo, etc., all had the sweet and hot chili sauce on it. Even with different ingredients in the sushi, ours was just... meh. The chili sauce on every one of them (even though it wasn't listed as being on there) really overpowered it. For example: It was like they were just trying to use that to make a "spicy crab salad" spicy. Rather than making the normal spicy crab salad, they Just threw some crab on, and then added some of that quick chili sauce on top. It just really overpowered a lot of the sushi's where you couldn't even tell what you were eating with the different types. The appetizers and hibachi were okay. Again, nothing wrong--just that you can tell it was meant for quick serving, and didn't have any 'wow'. Overall, we'd go back if were were hungry and wanted something like this. But, I wouldn't make it an all the time thing for the quality vs. cost.

Service was great!! Large selection, it's nice to be able to order whatever you want and have it freshly prepared. Veggies were not good that came with the steak hibachi but noodles and steak were very good. Enjoyed all the sushi rolls. The jalapeño appetizer was one of my favorite things I got here too! Definitely would recommend, also would be nice if it wasn't an upcharge to do a combo hibachi.

We have been to Mr. Tokyo a handful of times now, which should tell you that we enjoy it. All you can eat sushi is always a risk, but I heard good things and we have it a try, it has easily become a crowd favorite. For $24 you can get as many sushi rolls and appetizers etc as you want! (Make sure you finish your plate, because like most AYCE sushi places they charge for left over food. Which is a smart business move) I don't think we've had a roll that we didn't enjoy! In fact I can't even remember all the rolls we've tried, because we kind of just wing it. But the sushi is good quality and a great variety. There is an appetizer called the Sexy Jalapeño which we absolutely love!! It's a jalapeño stuffed with crab and cream cheese... how can you go wrong!?? If you go around dinner time on the weekends expect to wait, but they do take reservations. So I highly recommend doing that.

Just reinforcing how consistently enjoyable this place is! Now my 4th time here and everything is great. I'm trying different rolls each time and 90 percent of them land perfectly. Most recently impressed with the fried eel. I've had fried Philly rolls before but this was replaced with eel. Semi salty and fun play with the temperatures. Even the sexy jalapeño rolls are rolled in breading and sliced whole peppers rather than tempura and tiny ones like most places I've been.

The chicken was a little bland and boring, I probably wouldn't order chicken there again but my friend had the scallops and they were really good (nice sized and cooked perfectly!) The fried rice was excellent and flavorful, loved the veggie mix and the noodles were good too. The service was good, we were sat right away and waited on. We started with salad and soup. The ginger dressing was very good! Our chef was funny and entertaining, he engaged with us and made the dining experience fun! The restaurant itself is typical hibachi style tables and a small section of seating for non-hibachi. Would eat here again. The bathrooms are very awkward, the doors swing in and it's hard to get to the toilet and I am a smaller person. Also they could be better maintained, there was debris on the ground to the point that I thought to myself, I'm glad this food is being cooked in front of me because I'd be afraid of what the kitchen looks like!

Items that we ALWAYS order are the karaage, stir fried udon wit shrimp tempura, at least 3 skewers, the lychee martinis, Takoyaki, and some variation of toro. Reservations are highly recommended - it's on the smaller side. The menu has so many options and an amazing variety. One thing to note is this Japanese food is not like most others. Its focus is on homestyle, also fried/stir fried Japanese dishes. So do not expect Ramen or noodle soups. A couple things that are always ordered is the Kaarage, Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki (best in the city), yakisoba or udon, and gyoza. The staff is so sweet and the decorations remind me of Izakaya places in larger cities. They have a bar with cool cocktails and adorable bento boxes they sell during lunch hours throughout the week. Cannot recommend this place enough!!

The takoyaki has a crunchy outside and a good flavor (4/5), and the okonomiyaki is pretty filling (4/5); these were the best two. The yaki-udon with shrimp was ok (3/5) but definitely expensive for what it was and the quantity; they also don't add much shrimp, despite the up charge. The sake no shioyaki was below average for salmon (2/5) and very expensive for that amount they give you. Similarly, the onigiri is almost entirely rice if you add salmon (2/5). You order on a tablet, and they bring the food out. Service was ok (3/5); we had empty waters for a while. The restaurant is well-decorated, and you can see the chefs work, which gives it an ambiance somewhat like a hibachi place (4/5). Overall, I think most of the items are pretty expensive for what they are; they don't have the quality or quantity to justify the price.

Genuinely my favorite food spot in all of Pittsburgh, but certainly needs treated as a rare treat…read moreunless you've got ample money to throw around. I've made it a point to try and go at least once a year. They import their fish from Japan, so everything is exceptional quality (unlike any other I've ever had) and the taste experiences are incredible. The toro, both salmon and traditional tuna, are both to die for. The lighting and general vibe of the place are honestly just as appealing as the food, as it's the sort of place that makes you feel like you're partaking in an experience rather than just a meal. As said before, the quality is top notch, but you will shell out a good bit of money if you want to satisfy your appetite. The first time I went here, I spent approximately $140 on myself. The second time was in a group outing, paying for another person in the group, and we got a little loose with our ordering of food and drink. I think, with tip, it ended up being close to $450-$475. I nearly died when I saw that bill. Do I think it was worth it? Yes. Can I make it a regular thing? As someone who sometimes lives paycheck to paycheck, absolutely not. Hahaha. If you're planning on going, I would generally recommend reservations and booking about a month in advance. TLDR; The people who work there are knowledgable, the food is high quality and worth the price, but view this as a treat kind of place rather than a regular spot... that bill will hit you hard.

The staff were attentive and welcoming, and everything came out quickly and looked like it was prepared with real care. Now, coming from someone who doesn't even like sushi, I'm probably the worst critic for the food itself but Nina couldn't stop talking about it. She said it was easily the best sushi she's had in Pittsburgh, and that says a lot. Every roll she tried, she loved, and she was already talking about coming back before we even left. We have been to every major sushi spot in the county and this is the one place I took her in the past 6 years of her moving to Pittsburgh that she said says the best. So if you're like me, maybe sushi isn't your thing the beef portion was small but okay could've been more beef and less fluff so, you might not be converted. But if you're taking someone who does love authentic sushi fresh from japan, this place is a home run. For making her 30th feel special and giving her a meal she genuinely enjoyed, this spot absolutely nailed it. Best sushi in Pittsburgh from a someone who has had the best sushi japan has to offer.
