Came in today after work ordered a California burrito de AL PASTOR and some carne asada fries.When I got home and started eating my burrito I noticed a few things were off. 1. It tasted nothing like al pastor. Upon further inspection I noticed they gave me chicken instead. Okay whatever it happens. I still like chicken, BUT... 2. It was extremely salty! I couldn't even enjoy it. It was way to salty. I ended up giving it to my dogs instead. 3. The carne asada wasn't too bad. Not as salty as the burrito but then my wife found a hair in it. The ambience was very peaceful and calm and just a really quiet little hole in the wall. This review is for the Dale location. But If it's under the same ownership/management I can only imagine it's the same experience. This place is all hype. The food is bland and flavorless. My food came out cold. The michelada I got wasn't good. The service sucks, don't bother sitting down for dine in service they won't attend to you. The restaurant seems to have an identity crisis between being a taqueria and a full service restaurant. We should have done the taqueria side instead. Went a while ago and it was amazing. Mexican pizzas, Birria Ramen, large burritos; all was delicious and well priced. Went back today and was not so amazed. Ordered the Birria Ramen that was delicious last time only to be utterly disappointed this time. Birria had no flavor, broth had no flavor and was really greasy. Chile Rellano burritos were delicious but on the small side for the price you pay. Paid $90 for our meal and only half of it was edible. Probably one of the best taco shops in the 209 area! Staff are super friendly and inviting! Great atmosphere and dope music playing all the time. The food portions are more than filing. They get 5 stars for even OFFERING keto options. I had tacos de lengua keto style (cheese shell). We also ordered a keto bowl. I'd go back for more tacos :-). The staff were busy with Grubhub/Uber Eats orders as well as regular pick up orders and dine in customers, but seem to have a system to keep everything straight. Looked like they're popular. I'd punch up there seasoning at home (SPG/oregano, etc) but the salsa had a nice kick and was a welcome addition to the dishes. Overall, I'd visit again if I'm back in the area. I go to start my order and the guy behind the counter says oh the TV is off and comes out from behind counter and turns the TV on with the remote. I really wanted to try Mr Taquito so I wait even though I'm displeased that he thought it was more important to turn the TV on than to finish taking my order. The guy turned the TV on and then proceeds to struggle with some on screen set up type stuff to get the TV going. At that point I had enough and decide to leave. My family and I come here a lot as the food is really good, but some of the workers always have an attitude and it really ruins the experience. Today I came in and had a fairly large order, I asked for green salsa as we were leaving and the girl helping us said "Well, I already put in four red ones, is that okay?" I asked if I could please have green as that's the one I prefer, and she gave me ONE for an order of five plates. I asked my sister in law to go in and ask for three green and they charged her. When she asked why they were charging for them, they told her that the plates only came with limited amount of salsas, and she reminded them that they're the ones who gave us red when we all wanted green and had five plates and the girl insisted that she pay for them. The drinks at the bar were delish and the bartenders were attentive. The 3 star review is for the staff. That being said; This is Modesto. You should never leave a Mexican restaurant thinking "meh." There are literally hundreds of flavorful places to get good Mexican food with good bang for your buck. This is not one. We had the guacamole. It was fine, the portion size was small for the price but at least it had flavor. However the chips were both stale and piping hot from the fryer which is just weird. I had the shrimp ranchero burrito and the same could not be said. How do you fill a burrito with french fries, shrimp, beans and rice and "ranchero sauce" and it just tastes like crunchy french fries? Shrimp? I mean I saw it but it was bland and tasted like nothing. Beans and rice? Nothing. I did like the french fries tho, they had flavor. Also, if there was ranchero sauce or sour cream in that burrito, it would be a surprise to even the bland shrimp. And finally, that Don sauce? It's hot. I love hot, I'm not kidding when people complain I like my food spicy but come on Don, that was all heat and no flavor. Okay I don't want to bash everything so I will also say that the Mango Marg was worth the bland burrito.
