Cocina Azteca won me over immediately with the homemade tortillas! The service was amazing and genuinely friendly, and the whole atmosphere makes you feel like you're in Mexico. We went on a Sunday around 11 a.m., and they had a buffet with so much to choose from. A lot of the food was being made right in front of you, including the fresh tortillas, while some of the main dishes were already prepared. The menudo was great, the aguas frescas were really good, and even the crepes had great flavor. Overall, it felt less like eating at a restaurant and more like going to your best friend's house and having their mom cook for you. Everything was clean, organized, and welcoming. Let's start with the food...it's rushed and doesn't have that this came from abuela's kitchen. They do however have a wide range of food. Pupusas, crepas, tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, mole, arroz, frijoles chicharrones en Chile verde, aguas frescas, refrescos. They have mariachi playing requested songs. It did remind me a lot of my trips to mexico.i didn't give them a five because some dishes need more flavor. Plus I didn't see any salad options for those of us that can't have to many carbs. Delicious!!!! Finally tried this place, happy we had. The decor is welcoming and warm. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially Sally. I told her this was our first time here she explained about the buffet, (we went today Friday), how it works and what options we had. We saw online about the weekend buffet but didn't realize they also have it on Fridays, however, the weekend buffet has more items which include pancakes etc. Glad we had that. Sally and another lady checked with us a fair amount of time to see how we were and if we needed anything else, that's appreciated. The Chili Verde and Mole is absolutely delicious and authentic. The breakfast buffet was disappointing and did not feel like a traditional breakfast at all. Most of the food seemed more appropriate for lunch or dinner. Unfortunately, the staff member serving the buffet was rude, which made the experience even less enjoyable. The restaurant was playing soft, romantic Mexican music, which would have been pleasant if it had been at a reasonable volume. Instead, it was so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation with the person sitting across from me. I would not recommend this place for breakfast. OVERPRICED! The prices on the menu are not the prices they'll charge you at the register! They re-named the restaurant to Corazon Azteca. I remember why I stopped coming to begin with but my family wanted to eat here. There is no description in the menu of the items you'll order. Camarones a la crema are usually with Chipotle with creamy pink sauce. I was not expecting thia dish to have a white sauce that almost tasted like Alfredo. The mole is sweet and again its not in the description on the menu. One complement is the waitress was so nice and went above and beyond to wait on us. The ambiance is very loud and family style. The cafe de olla is made to perfection, the little Mexican bread is so cute and delicious, the quesabirria tacos, enchiladas Michoacánas, menudo, etc. is all so delicious and flavorful. The servers are great and always so happy and caring to get everything you need. The atmosphere looks very like old Mexico vibes which is beautiful and love all the Frida Kahlo art work inside. They are preparing food right in front of you at the front and the back of the restaurant. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I was impressed with the place. The service was very good. Servers were constantly walking by to make sure we were ok and had everything we needed. Down side is that there is no AC in the place. So it does get warm because they are cooking inside and out back in the patio. The food was delicious. I had the enfrijoladas de pollo and they were delicious. My husband wanted a chile relleno inside burrito and that wasn't on the menu. They make chile rellenos, just not inside a burrito with salsa roja on top. So he asked if they could make it that way and the cooks were able to make what he asked. Delicious! I am definitely coming back when in the area again. I ordered the Taco Azteca with carne asada, beans, cheese, and sour cream and it was amazing. The steak was grilled perfectly and tender and very flavorful and the tortillas were homemade. Also had the Al Pastor taco and it was also was very delicious and filling. I would order both those items again but definitely the Taco Azteca was my favorite. After looking further into the menu, their are other dishes I definitely want to try, like the shrimp and steak dishes, as well as the breakfast brunch.
