We like the family meal, 2 pounds of carnitas, a quart of refried beans, a platter of Mexican rice, a dozen corn tortillas, cup of hot sauce and a small bag of green lemons. I am super picky about my pozale and even more when it comes to carnitas. I am Mexican American and I'm use to my mothers home made cooking so when I eat out it's super difficult to find something comparable. Carnitas Michoacán is that place for me when it comes to comfort food right from home. Very similar to my mothers flavors and high quality meats and ingredients. We have catered the carnitas with their rice and beans. Their salsas are amazing as well. Their pozale had such a great flavor and it comes with all the fixing. On top of it they serve their plates with home made tortillas. The people here are also super nice. I intend to want to try all their beverages lol so far the Jamaica is my favorite. Anyway the service here is awesome and there always ready to serve. The decor reminds a lot of Mexico - super authentic and welcoming. Recommend coming here for the food. So good. read more

Food is totally on point! Got the pozole and WOW the sides of lime, cabbage, radish, spices, fried corn tortillas and a little container of their home made chili oil. Thank god I ate inside. Waiter saw me getting to scoop the chili oil and warns me "it deceiving, smells sweet but packs a punch" he wasn't kidding! Very little went a long way! Sadness.... This place was so great. The food was always quality an large portions. It's like WW2 portions up in here now. The pastor burrito was $13. On a small tortilla that had holes in it and was mostly filled with beans. We always bought food from here. 2 bean and cheese burritos, 1 regular pastor burrito and soup. $50. Boo. I have always driven past this location on Mitchell, but never with the opportunity to try it out as I've always had a destination past it. Alas, the opportunity arose since I was in the area and, wow, it was amazing! Parking was easy to come by the side of the building. Walked in and see that it was decently packed with other customers. First time here and the menu was up front with all their specialties. The menu was in Spanish so it was a bit difficult to understand, however, we made do. I ordered their new quesabirria tacos and my friend ordered their carne con chile plate. We were able to find a table inside and waited about 10 minutes for our food. The quesabirria came out very delicious! It came with three tacos each including the meat and melted cheese folded into a tortilla with a side of their consommé. There was a GREAT amount of ingredients and cheese that paired very well with the consommé. I wish the dish was a bit crispier to get a nicer crunch, but wasn't a big deal. The carne con chile was also very delicious and what I love about plates is you can make your own concoction on how to eat it. Can make a taco, mini burrito, or just eat them bit by bit. The meat was very tender and had great flavor. With my observations I see that this place is utilizing disposables for all of their customers. Plates, forks, spoons, etc. all to help decrease the spread of COVID-19. Although, this increases the trash produced here I respect what they are trying to do to help our community during this pandemic. Glad I finally tried this location and will for sure be back in the future to try their other items on the menu! read more

Clean and friendly. The carnitas are by far the best I've had anywhere around here. Their portions are worth it and their sides are flavorful and fresh. I've never had an issue finding parking and even though they're pretty busy, you get helped in a timely manner. This is definitely my go to place for carnitas and highly recommend it. read more

Stopped here to pick up the family carnitas for 2 people. I have heard great things about this restaurant but have never been able to stop. Today I was in the area and decided to give this place a try. As soon as you enter the restaurant you order your meal and sit down or wait for your to go order. Staff is friendly and the restaurant it self is super clean. I was asked if I wanted "cueritos and buche" with my food. Since my husband doesn't like it I opted out. Next time I'll definitely try some though. I only waited a few minutes before my carnitas, rice, beans, tortillas and salsa were ready. Everything was neatly packed in a bag when I got home. 10/10 amazing food and service!! My bf and I were on a roadtrip and found this place on a whim. We were beyond impressed by both the quality of the food and the incredible service. We got our food in like ten minutes and its the kind of place you can either sit down and relax or pick up and take home. We three East Bay types were really hungry on a Sunday afternoon. A local recommended this place. It was filled with obvious locals. The menu over the counter and on the menus were extensive. The staff were all very friendly. It started off really well. The chips were fresh and the salsa was spicy with roasted garlic. We devoured them. I ordered the mixed carnitas plate and hibiscus agua fresc. Everything I had was very good. My friends loved their orders too. Everything came out of the kitchen fast. Ive ordered to go 3-4 times a year for the last 3 years. The carnitas are really good I also like the mix plate. I like that they give you the salsas on the side for tacos.
