This is probably the 5th time I have eaten here and I can't say I am impressed. My father in law loves this place but for me service is what makes any customer service experience- my food was mediocre at best. Our waitress who knows my husband's name and my father in law's name paid more attention to them and in filling their coffee cups but ignored everyone else at the table mind you a table of 11 people. None of our drinks were refilled she barely spoke English which is fine since I speak Spanish but she rolled her eyes at me every time I asked for something that she forgot for our table. It's a good thing my husband used his card to pay ps I signed and tipped for this service which I particularly didn't want to --- maybe if I used mine she would have seen my name which is by the way hanging up by the door-- yep that's right my last name is Magallanez. Maybe I would have gotten better service.. maybe a smile instead of an attitude. Such a disappointment. read more

This is the worst drive thru service there is the girl could not even take the order correct, was more concern with closing the store than taking care of the order. Short, rude, they manage to miss rang the order, when asked she had no clue or knowledge of the menu and said it was an order of 3 tacos. When I got home there was1 taco only so i called and ask what I been charged for (4 dlls for 1 taco?) The person on the phone said come back when i got there the drive thru inexperience rude said I gave you your food . They manage to ruin my dinner We spend $80 dlls a month never coming back. They must have good drink specials to always have a parking lot of people. My mom and daughter got sick off their breakfast tacos twice. Last time I ate there the food was inedible. The beef enchiladas were drowned in some nasty fake cheese goo and the rice was dripping with grease and super salty. Too many Mexican restaurants in town to ever go here again. read more

ii really dont know what all the fools are talking about, i was born and raised in lockhart ive eaten here hundreds of times, never been disappointed, the chips and sauce are homemade and awesome, the tea is awesome, ive been to many other mexican food places around texas and have not found one i like more than mr taco in lockhart, there are two others people, make sure you rank the right one, there food is blended perfect, ive never had a bad waitress they all know how to do there job, yes some people have bad days but dont judge a business by that, maybe its just the big city slicker rude people coming thru this town that are the problem i really dont know how they only have three stars because this place is by far a town favorite! If I could leave no stars for tonight I would. We live in Lockhart and eat here often. The food and drinks are good but the service is TERRIBLE. We walked in tonight and sat at a table for 20 minutes with no one acknowledging us. After asking for help, politely, we still got no service. Several waiters walking around like we weren't sitting there. And then acting as if we didn't exist after asking for help. We ended up having to leave since no one would help us. One of the worst meals. Three of us ordered plate special with the chalupas and crispy taco drink for 3.99. So we Get the plate..meat beans cold. Ask server to reheat, comes bk the same, cold. Tell server again, still cold. They take my families plate & reheat for a 3rd time. My plate I told the server to just forget it, I'll take a bean and cheese taco instead. Everyone's pretty much done eating by the time I get my taco. Get ticket and server says he didn't charge for drinks...(plate comes with drinks) and he didn't charge me for the bean and cheese taco but still charged me for my plate. Tell him he took my plate back. He tells me it's the way it is, he can not charge me because I ate the food. I hate half of the crispy taco. Chalupas untouched. When everyone said their food was still cold the THIRD TIME, that's when I stopped eating my taco, because I was pretty much done. I have only been here for breakfast and food ok. Limited in this small town. But I will NEVER COME BACK TO THIS PLACE. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner. This was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Salsa tasted like v8 juice. Service was slow and our drinks didn't get refilled unless we badgered the hostess. I got an enchilada plate which was supposed to have three. It came with two and I'm glad. The wife got some taquitos which the meat fell out of due to the grease soaking through the shell. I've lived in Lockhart for 5 years and have eaten here many times, tonight certain to be the last. The only thing consistent about this place is the utter lack of consistency. The one good thing about them is their hot sauce, which i was craving. So tonight I tempt fate by going through the drive thru and ordering the Mexican Plate with beef enchiladas and LOTS OF HOT SAUCE PLEASE!! I get my order and head home after a long day. You can only imagine my anger and frustration when I open the bag and find 1 little itty effin bitty thimble of salsa and 2 thimbles of nasty canned tomato sauce. Unbelievable. And then it gets worse. My beef enchiladas?? Nope. Cheese. Not good cheese, nasty american cheese. Inedible. Mr Taco has a sign in the window saying it's raising prices once again due to the high cost of chicken, beef, and pork, well there is no meat in potato and egg tacos. The simple potato and egg taco is already $ 1.35 plus tax how much more do they fugure it's worth? I don't go there that much and will be going there even less now, he can eat his own food, If I'm going to pay $ 2.00 dollars for a taco I might as well give it to Whataburger for BOB. read more

I was recently in Lockhart visiting a good friend of mine and we went to eat lunch at Mr. Taco. The restaurant itself is cute and very clean. First impression walking into the place was great. Once our server came to our table everything changed. The attitude she had was horrible and we had to get up to ask for refills. Then the food came out and it wasn't that good either, it was very bland. Her attitude was so bad that toward the end of our meal my friend asked her why she bothered coming to work if she wasn't going to make any tip money. Can't get pass the roaches and rats to eat the service sucks the staff are rude and obviously don't understand how to bring out hot food. if you make a complaint about the food they blame you because they think they can do no wrong. they spend more money on the decor then they do on teaching staff to cook and the food ext. I went to Mr Taco with a few coworkers for lunch last week. I ordered their lunch special which was enchiladas and I asked for queso on the side. Our waitress brought our food and drinks at the same time and we did not see her again until she brought the bill. I was charged for a dinner special, a coke, and was charged $1.50 for the queso. I didn't mind paying for the queso but I ordered a water and the lunch special. I pointed this out to the girl and she told me that the queso made the order unusual therefore disqualifying if from being a lunch special. I told her it didn't make sense to pay $8 for a $5 meal when the queso was in a little bowl on the side it wasn't altering the meal. She then rolled her eyes took the coke off and left me with a $10.99 ticket for a bad lunch. Will not be returning. read more

Love to go here on Thursday night when the 5 to 6 member Mariachi band plays. The service is always good and the house margaritas are great too as well as most of the dishes. The line at the drive thru in the morning is long as everyone loves their breakfast tacos. I prefer to go inside on an occasional weekend and have migas or the breakfast with pancakes! Fast drive thru. Always busy. Ranchers breakfast is my husbands favorite. Breakfast tacos aren't fabulous but they're good. The Carne guisada (or was it asada?) Is a red sauce and kinda odd. When you order sausage breakfast tacos note they're are 3 kinds lol I once got link dinner style sausage in my taco lol not what I was expecting lol oh refried bean n cheese taco is good. In-laws are from Lockhart, and this used to be our go to spot for breakfast tacos, but w/the case of salmonella (grandma and MIL got sick, aunt was hospitalized for a week), we had to stop. I don't understand all the negative reviews. I've been eating there ~30 years and never had a bad experience. Homemade flour tortillas are outstanding. Always. Salsa verde is outstanding. Wednesday chicken fried steak is usually outstanding but sometimes greasy; a little salsa verde makes it right. Good, decent breakfast for a reasonable price. Very large parking area and exiting on the back street eventually takes you to controlled intersections on Highway 183. Wait staff were efficient and courteous. While the breakfast was good, the eggs could have been cooked a little slower to result in a more perfectly cooked over-medium egg. We visited Mr. Taco today for lunch from a referral. Inside is quite big but it is kind of unorganized. No one recognize you when you walk in. The service was kind of slow at the beginning but we had a more attentive waitress came toward the end. I think her name is Mandy. We both ordered the Mr. Taco Enchilada plate. It was very good. I don't usually write reviews. However, my experience here tonight was so awful I felt it necessary. I arrived at the restaurant at 8:25. 35 minutes until closing. I work in a restaurant, and understand when customers show up a minute before closing that it is obnoxious, but there was still plenty of time for a party of one to order, eat, and leave. My server repeatedly was walking through the restaurant complaining about not getting out of there any time soon in front of the customers. She also spent most of the time on her cell phone. When she informed me that they were out of sweet tea after my first glass and I asked for Dr. Pepper, she brought the new drink back in the same glass l had been using. Mr. Taco in Lockhart has the best lunch specials. The service is consistently good. The prices are extremely reasonable and the chips and salsa taste great. They offer sweet or unsweet tea and that's included with the enchilada plate lunch special for around $6. Wednesday is Chicken fried steak day and it's wonderful. I highly recommend this place for lunch any day of the week. Weekends are busy in Lockhart. They also serve wonderful breakfast tacos. read more

Horrible service. The meat tasted as if it was bad. years ago I was their knife sharpener. They would cut trey after trey of meats and store it on the floor in grey plastic containers. Sometimes I would go in the morning and they would have me come back after lunch. The treys of meat would still be on the floor beside a heavy traffic area and it would be 3 pm. I remembered this when I tasted the meat and knew it was off. They also have president bashing CNN on TV's all through the restaurant. That's what everyone wants is some heavy Trump bashing with poor service serving poor quality food. CNN/ The View = same difference. read more
